Marrow, Surge and Juggernaut. Would’ve voted for Frenzy in the 3rd poll, but I strategically voted for whoever was most likely to defeat Jubilee.

I guess we now know who reached Dominion.
Does anyone know when Jonathan Hickman’s G.O.D.S officially comes out?
I don’t know if there’s an official confirmed release date
Can anyone explain to me what the fuck is going on with Peter and MJ in the comics now? It seems like the "Peter has the worst luck" notion is being taken to absolutely insane levels
Apparently Marvel is run by asshole middle-aged men who hate them together.
@JulieYBM Change is for Ever was and forever will be at that's factually correct.

I just hope this shit stops before I'm dead. lol Those mini-series they did where Peter, MJ and Annie-May got to grow up together were so much fun.
Married Peter is a boring Peter for those that want to self insert into the character.
I for one think those kind of fans can go straight to the wall, but that's just me.
Ugh. Yeah, I imagine the people that do self-insert into unmarried Peter in this case are the sort of people who really hate their wives.
From my perspective as a bi woman: DILF Peter is a thousand times more fun. He's a DILF and he gets to kick ass. What could be better?
So it's Hellfire Gala time, and apparently Ghost Rider is looking SEX-AY.

I suppose it's not the first time a reader would consider Ghost Rider as super attractive.

No more boring than lean times Peter. Who’d want to self insert as a guy whose constantly struggling financially?
I think they just hate their wives so much they'd rather self-insert as a boring loser like this version of Peter Parker.
I saw a couple of pages from this recent run, and between Moira and this

That presumes they’re married much less in a committed relationship. And would admit to being broke.

someone at marvel really hates redheaded woman.
Isn’t Moira a brunette?
Not to mention wasn’t Mystique one of the two women that fucked her over in Inferno?
How bad is the current Spider-Man run?
And I agree give the fans what they want, Peter and MJ together again
@Shiebs said in Western Comics thread:

You mean give them what a fraction of the fans want.
Never been team MJ personally.
Okay, fine, give him a polycule and kids with each partner. Problem solved.
Took you no time to come up with that but here’s the house of ideas twisting themselves into a pretzel/kicking cans down the road.
While the TV & movie guys say fuck this shit.

I mean, I'm not a weird middle-age cishet (white?) guy, so it makes sense I could actually solve the issue.
Hire more queer woman, publishers! lol
Spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man #26 are out which is the 50th anniversary issue of Gwen Stacy’s death and also the issue where Zeb Wells was adviced he should go into hiding and not visit conventions for a few months.
Wow, that's gonna stick for all of 10 seconds. What's even the point?
I will say it is very funny that the segments of comics twitter that were howling at the anguish and rage Spider-Man fans went through over the past year because of their silly straight white male PeterxMJ shipping are now saying Zeb Wells deserves a bullet in the neck.
https://ew.com/books/ms-marvel-kamala-khan-will-die-in-marvel-comic/
The news is out officially.
"Hey this is one of the two new characters to actually work in the last THREE DECADES and actually brings in new readers and build a following... let's kill them!"
Seriously, Miles and Kamala are the only new characters since Venom and Deadpool to actually gain traction. (They're both legacy characters but different enough to count.)
Maaaaybe Spider-Gwen counts because she's so changed from Old Gwen Stacey and its such an amazing new costume she'll be around for a while. (And she's in the unfortunate suituation where everyone knows the nckname rather than the official name. I can't even tell you what it is without checking.)
But what else have they had? Squirrel Girl? Red Hulk? X-23? Armor is like the only new X-man to click since the 90's cartoon and she can't carry a book on her own. I don't thnk any of the Generation-X kids really clicked with anyone after that book ended. They get rotated around some but not the way the New Mutants or Excalibur casts do.
It's kind of like if DC decided it was time to get rid Jaimie as Blue Beetle.
If you guys had to rank these by who you want or who should be in the MCU X-men movies/tv shows, what would your tier list be?
https://ew.com/article/2014/05/21/x-men-best-worst/
I honestly don’t know a lot of these characters so I don’t have a great opinion
Edit: From the ones I do know
S tier: Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm
A tier list: Nightcrawler, Ice Man, Beast, Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Rouge, Gambit
B tier list: Emma Frost, Psylocke,
C tier list: Havok, Polaris, Angel
And just from Jonathan Hickman’s run on Avengers and X-Men, I’ve fallen in love with Cannonball and Sunspot but I’m not really sure where they’d fall
Less about who I love and more about popularity or just who’s been a main stay
A mix of Claremont era Uncanny with Claremont era New Mutants, Cable, Wade, Sage, Domino, David, Fantonmex, Evan Shabahnur, Dazler.
There's a couple more but I less invested on those.
On ranking, nah that's bullshit.
Ororo is probably the best written one, no one can dethrone her.
The Claremont run is the iconic group for a reason.
Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, token female telepath, token young girl for Wolverine to watch over.
For the telepath you can pick Jean, Emma, or Psylocke. For the token young girl Kitty, Rogue, or Jubilee.
Jean is obviously going to get in but honestly I'd really, really prefer she didn't because they'll inevitably just try to rush tot he Phoenix saga AGAIN and botch it, AGAIN. You just can't do that justice in a single movie, the same way Spiderman can't do an entire Venom arc in one movie. She go with evil telepath Emma instead, or ninja telepath Psylocke instead.
Kitty is generally the preference for the young girl, and hasn't really been done justice in the movies, but I have a very strong soft spot for Jubilee, and I would love for some writer some day to figure out what to do with her. (Note, it is NOT make her a vampire in charge of a baby) Rogue sort of got decent play in the old movies so she's not a priority... and if they did her again they'd almost certainly include Gambit this time around and... no. Do not want.
Cable is already fully realized in the Deadpool movies.
A few years ago I'd say Beast is a no brainer but I feel like, absent a Dark Phoenix arc, they'll try to do a speedrun of his 20 year turn evil arc since that's current at the moment and I don't want that either.
Then some rando character that hasn't gotten much exposure. Banshee/Siryn or Cannonball or Sunspot or something, if you can manage to not be racist with them. The entire New Mutants group is great but they kind of blew that wad on that one movie everyone's forgotten about. I grew up reading Generation X but outside of Chamber there's no one there I'd want to see.
Dazzler, just because screw it. See how they make the disco queen work 40 years later. (The answer is, they don't, they just reincarnate the character, first as Boom Boom, then as Jubilee, each following a different decade's trend)
@pariston_hill said in Western Comics thread:
@Kaiolino I ship Peter with happiness, if it's with MJ or someone else that's ok. I just find shit that they always find a bullshit way to end his relationships. Like the concept of a super hero with a family can't be done while Batman has been doing it for what half a century? more?
Well if we overlook the idiocy of Bruce not killing Joker after he killed Jason and Bruce getting mad at Jason because killing irredeemable criminals is bad even if they continue to keep killing or crippling innocent people just to fuck with you.
Oh and some instances of where Bruce has been called in some stories for training soldiers instead of raising kids.
@Time-Control-Magician Batman doesn't kill except all those mooks form the 30's and 40's that were most definitely dead.
Killing his major antagonist would be editorially weird having to resurrect the Joker time and time again for sales reasons.
And Bruce is also cuckoo crazy.
Remember that crossover with The Punisher, who was having none of the Joker's shit and was going to kill him right then and there?
Three weeks worth of weekly X:

Oh don’t me wrong he doesn’t have to kill
the joker himself. The problem comes with the comic writers playing up that aspect and twisting themselves into knots to rationalize Bruce not breaking his code. Even when they can just have Joker get killed off by proxy they have to ass pull to keep him from getting killed or at staying dead for good.
Either do it, have someone else do it or some circumstance leading to it or stop playing it up. Not to mention you reboot things every couple of decades anyway you don’t have to worry about it being permanent and not being able to profit eventhough Joker merchandise would still sell regardless.
It was nice when Arkham City got it done….and then had to backpedal slightly for reasons.
Looks like there doing one page stories in multiple Marvel comics to prepare for Jonathan Hickman’s new series G.O.D.S
Immortal Thor #1, Uncanny Avengers #1, Moon Knight #26, Venom #24, Guardians Of The Galaxy #5, Scarlet Witch #7, Fantastic Four #10 and Doctor Strange #6.
Edit: Never mind I thought it was a different story for each, I think it’s the same short story that doesn’t show much on each of these
Same article different website, pick your poison
@Robby you we’re just talking about how new characters don’t usually become very popular in comic books outside of a few notable exceptions
But do you think with how gigantic and popular Jonathan Hickman’s comics are and the fact he’s compared this new series to House Of x and Powers Of X, that these new characters might break the mold, and become extremely popular?

I mean, without seeing a single thing I dunno.
The big hits have been characters that are FUN (Deadpool breaks the foruth wall, Ms. Marvel is a geek, Spidergwen s a Spiderman with a new spin and an amazing costume. Harley Quinn is DC's Deadpool, Blue Beetle reformed a character no one cared about and had an amazing creator driven run and lots of exposure and a fantastic design)
If, IF Marvel put all their marketing muscle behind it and KEEPS it behind it and starts throwing it to animated projects as soon as possible AND it resonates with the audience then sure anything's possible... but they're gonna push issue 1 and then forget to advertise issue 2 and then it'll be fast forgotten unless it hits big with the first issue because they NEVER put the marketting muscle behind a title past issue 1 outside of the events.
Like no one remembers Chris Claremont's Sovereign Seven (which was a good book) , and no one would care about Jack Kirby's New Gods at all if Darkseid wasn't in the group.
Just being a big creator doesn't mean anything. Todd McFarlane's Spawn managed to survive and become a big deal in its own right but its the only Image title to do really do that and it had all the company's marketing muscle behind it. But even then The Walking Dead s the one true mainstream hit of Image. (Invincible might in time if they keep animating it and have faster seasons.) Savage Dragon is the longest running title but its sales are crap, no one cares about it except the people that have been reading it forever. (I followed it for a long time but left when Malcom took over and started having orgies and multiple pregnant girlfriends and...)
@Robby That’s sad to hear, especially since I’ve been dying to see what this series will entail, sounds like it will really shake up the marvel comic universe just like his previous work House of X/Powers of X, and since he said “When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was HOUSE OF X and the other one was G.O.D.S.,”
if it’s on the same level I’m sure it will be great
Oh wow, Kamala's completely random and pointless death in someone else's comic is even worse than we thought it was going to be.
Also there are spoilers leaking of... screw it I'm not even goign to tag it there's no reason to be courteous to this dumpster fire of a story arc. Spoilers are leaking of Paul's children vanishing in front of him for whatever reason and people are CHEERING. When you, as a writer, have the audience rooting for the death of innocent children because its a sign your new stupid status quo will hopefully be done soon, you've done something very, very wrong.
Kevin Feige making Zeb Wells the script doctor of like half the MCU movies just when he is nuking his status as a reliably solid writer was certainly a choice.
I feel like Deadpool 3 is gonna suck...
Well it is the 3rd movie.

That or the people cheering are just highly apathetic at this point over you know what. So anything in these books that upsets that is going to be given no quarter.
You actually as I once mentioned before had people arguing that Peter should’ve let his Aunt die instead of sacrificing his marriage.

The woman is 120 years old and has been on her death bed dozens of times since the sixties, and already died once. And she even said in the story that it was okay, it was her time.
Aunt May was dead for like a decade before. And you know what they did? They brought in MJ's Aunt Anna to fill the exact same role but more annoying, because the writers were incompetent and don't know how to do anything other than what was in the book fifty years ago.
It should never have been a magical either/or situation to begin with.
You want the most dramatic of consequences for Peter revealing his identity? Then LIVE with them. Don't just reset that and the entire previous 20 years because you don't know how to write a romantic relationship in an interesting way. Get better writers. Have characters that die STAY dead. Just like Jean Grey should have. Just like Colossus should have. If you play up ultimate stakes and consequences, and then walk them back immediately, then nothing ever has meaning.
Yeah its absolute shit that one writer can remove something from the toybox that later writers might have wanted to use... but thats the fault of those same writers not bringing in NEW characters to fill the old gaps.
It's why Peter's seconday cast of charactaers sucks. After they killed Gwen Stacey and Harry, wrote Betty Brant off as a love interest, and moved out of high school so characters like Flash and Liz stopped being relevant.... and then they just never replaced any of them or had Peter move on. So no one new makes any impact or has any interesting stories, and so then all writers can do iis regurgitate stuff from the first 30 issues written in the 60's!
Outside of Venom Spiderman hasn't hgotten any good long term villains in all that time. Morlun and Mr. NEgative are both fine, but they don't get the media the early characters do and will never be as iconic or returned to as a result. (Same with Batman and Superman)
Stop only playing with the old toys writers. Make some new ones.
Wasn’t MJ also pregnant too?

Aren’t the publisher & editor also at fault?
The writers write the stories and the characters but ultimately it’s the editors and publisher who decide what sticks and what changes. They also pick the people who write these books don’t they?
It’s very funny that Aunt May is now dead in all the popular media adaptations. And that Peter has a child in the cartoon movie when he’s supposed to be “relatable” to kids.
As a kid I never had a problem with Peter being grown up and having a wife. He was a grown up, they do that.

Every once in a while I check in on the Marvel Wiki to see whats up with Spidey, and my head is spinning at the sheer deluge of Goblins they keep making
Like, surely there must still be some other creatures or animals you can repurpose as Spidey supervillains
also, the stakes just seem so perpetually insane and convoluted - Like, I think they made Ben Reilly an evil dimension-hopping demon lord or something? I realize you can't do stories about Spidey stopping bank robberies for all eternity, but does the series ever dip to that comparatively restrained level anymore?
