I'm sorry I didn't understand this as it wasn't phrased in painfully nerdy simile.

This seemed relevant.

Number 2 was awesome. I liked number 4 better than the other 2 (albeit I couldn't finish number 3) but they're no where near number 2. -

That was specifically to the people mentioning stuff clearly from the 60s.

@Cuddles:
Rap makes my ears bleed and Tupac's the worst among them.
I think of the Daleks as far as the 70s goes, as well as that whole 'Free Love' thing.
Or was that the 60s?for one thing.
perhaps the word 'idiots' was a bit improper. My apologies
-
'Fuck is this Cuddles the Dark guy?
And I love the 70s and 60s music. Not as much as I used to but it's pretty fucking good.

judging by one of his posts in the politics thread I'll have to say I'm no fan of his, but yes, he's a user here.
the music was good indeed!!!

Heaven forbid that someone has different taste in music.

@JERK:
At least I'm rated you absolute non-entity.
hahahaha well your username definitely serves to get you rated somewhere…the whole non-entity thing is interesting...how can you post such intelligent-sounding posts in other threads and sound like that in here?
Spoken on behalf of entities everywhere.

No seriously, who the hell are you.
I feel like I've seen you floating around, and apparently you've seen my posts.Someone solve the mystery of the strangely arrogant tumbleweed.

There is a difference between: "i don't like rap music i prefer f00" and "rap music is crap."

Okay allow me to answer that.
I am GumGumBattleAxe.
I have been a member since April 2007. I love One Piece and the East Blue is my favorite saga. I listen regularly to the One Piece podcast, buy the VIZ volumes, and occasionally post a thought here and there on a number of threads. I am not strange, I am not arrogant (most of the time) and I sure as hell ain't a tumbleweed. -
The seventies? The decade when one superstate has finished one of its biggest humiliations, and the other one started one of its own.
Speaking of greater music.

My of the cuff response if anyone asked me what i think about the 70's would be that it seemed like a pretty horrible decade.
But then again i mainly associate the 70's with disco music, drugged out activists and the horrible clothes those people wore. So i'm probably overlooking a lot of good things about it as well.

I personally enjoyed the activist stereotype you noted.
Just seems like one of the few vaguely interesting aspects of what I'd consider a rather bland era. (bland as is not as notable as the others)

70's WAS BREZNEV ERA IN USSR
OMG BEST PREMIER EVER
STAGNATION AND OLD MAN INSANITY, AND DE-DE-STALINIZATION $EVERGET MONEY

If you wanted to experience how"fun" they are yourself you could always go to my old high school. Going only by how stereotypical they are i am pretty sure that half the teaching staff there were proggers who were raised in some marxist collective sometime around the seventies:ninja:
-
My favourite times (history) revolve around the aftermath of WWII. Those activists & Hippies were a by-product of the shifting political powers taking a firm footing from that devastation.
(thus one of the few remnants from the previous eras I take an interest in)I don't know nearly enough about Russia in the 70's though.
-
Not many people admit it these days, but Chicago owned the 70's.

That's when the Soviet economy began to tank, and it's when Brezhnev was the leader. After Stalin died Khrushchev came to power and liberalized the USSR on several accounts, namely flat out denouncing Stalin's personality cult. He was forced to step down because of this by Brezhnev who was next in power and rolled back in a conservative era which was spiked with things like economic decline, the crushing of the Prague Spring, a half hearted attempt at another personality cult, Brezhnev slowly going senile while still in power, and of course the Afghan war started which was the harbinger of the end of the USSR in some ways.
My favourite times (history) revolve around the aftermath of WWII. Those activists & Hippies were a by-product of the shifting political powers taking a firm footing from that devastation.
The youth movements around the world were mostly a result of the world having a fuckton of kids from the post war years. Baby Boomers.
Most Western countries were well on their way past the devastation by the point of the late 60's and early 70's.(thus one of the few remnants from the previous eras I take an interest in)
How does someone not find interest in the Cold War, but does with WW2.
Come on now.

Its not that I don't find what I know, or expect to reveal interesting, but that I've been confined to using everything but a pc for over almost a year. Words won't do me justice in explaining just how keen I am to wrap up the origins of WW1, Russia's hand in WWII and onward. Even the way you rave on about some of the other points of history drives me fucking nuts because I want full de restricted access to learn it all.
My computers arriving in 7 days or so, to which I'll begin plaguing you with burma documentary videos and rasputins historical impact.
the Afghan war started which was the harbinger of the end of the USSR in some ways.
I wonder if Bush see's any parallels between that and his withering administration.

So the usual leadership from hell and backstab after backstab, but with additional economic shenanigans and Afghanistan.
Thanks.
