@JERK:
WW1 Origins?
I think Blackadder did a fairly good job of explaining it.

Zephos, do you think the Crimean War had any influence on the WII origin?
You mean WW1 right?
Anything involving the Eastern Question was a step on the road to Franz Ferdinand getting shot.
It's funny how people get on the case of non-European countries for suffering and fighting over post-colonial problems when Europe's very own Balkans even to this goddamn day are still feeling the after effects of post-colonial messes from when Turkey owned them some 100-150 or so years ago.
-
Yes, I meant WWI
We had a debate in history class about the causes of WWI, and I was stuck withe argument that "WWI was caused primarily by Britain"I just pulled some shit out of my ass; I said Britain's defeat of Russia caused Russia to stir up trouble in the Balkans, hoping to get access to a warm water port. But ya, I suppose that would just be a step on the road to Franz Ferdinand getting shot.

Let's talk television.
The 70's boasted some rather awesome and funny television shows.
Here are a few I enjoy seeing from this decade.
-All in the Family
-Sanford N' Son
-The Jeffersons
-Good Times
-SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!!The 70s also spawned an awesome decade for Doctor Who, of which I am a fan.
-
-Sanford N' Son
Yeah, Sanford and Son's a favorite of mine. I used to sit and watch it with my dad whenever it was on.

The 70's is also this.
I never had the opportunity to watch the originals unmodified in a theater. It must have been something with the huge crowd.

as far as films go, the 70s featured the original star wars trilogy, the first two Godfather films, the first Star Trek movie (1979), Animal House, and a number of other greats.

Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Return of the Jedi (1983) -
@JERK:
Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Return of the Jedi (1983)Yes indeed, that is when they came out. And it was, indeed, awesome to be there in the theatre with surround sound making each battle seem as if you were right in the middle of it. By the time the third one was released, the lines were forming by 3am for the first showing at 10am (no advance ticket sales that I knew of then–if you didn't sit out there for hours in line, you were probably out of luck for the first week or so). Good times, good times.

Iam actually glad some guys actually don`t know when the first star wars movies were published.

Boy Lucas is gonna release the prequel and original trilogy edition in stupid 3d. You won't get my money this time George. This guy's ego is beyond limit.
Among artists, he is probably THE biggest troller alive. My only regret is to have wasted my hours of line for shitty prequel movies. They do not even exist for me.
What was your impression and the atmosphere in the theater during this scene ? The first half of the OST when Luke vs Vader reaches its climax.

I think Survived Buster Call is my mom irl.

Lucas has always been rather full of himself. I don't think that's all that unusual in Hollywood, though… LOL
As for that Luke vs Vader scene, I don't honestly recall that music, and "OST" isn't ringing any bells for me, sorry to say. Guess I'm rather thick tonite, but I don't know what that means. Is that the scene leading to the massive revelation of his parentage, or the final battle in front of the emperor where Vader dies?
The lead in to the revelation was a heart pounding moment, and the whole theatre gasped.
The final battle seemed less amazing to me somehow as I recall--maybe it happened too fast--don't know. It just didn't have the emotional impact the other scene did, at least not for me. I didn't like the way Vader looked inside the mask. I did "know" the actor who did his voice from the old 7-up commercials, (Never had it, never will, Ahahaha!) but still, the Vader under the mask looked... bloated and unremarkable, where I was expecting an extraordinary face, after all that transpired. I can't put it into words properly, but I was dissapointed in that small detail, and overall found his redemption from the moment right after he saved Luke to be anticlimactic, from the removal of the mask to the appearance of his ghost later. Cheap somehow.
It might have been better if he fell to his death with the emperor and all we heard of him later was his voice fading away, perhaps. I don't know, I'm not a genious at writing stories--it was just not satisfying in some way I can't put my finger on. The moment was saved by the celebration with the ewoks though, so it was still a good ending. The second trilogy, or prequil trilogy, if you will, was a well written story of political intrigue, but it certainly didn't lead seamlessly into the first three, lol. I guess that's what you get for writing it backwards.
@JERK:

LOL. Thank you. (No sending laundry here, though ) Knowing you, I bet your real mom's an extraordinary woman.
So do I get to ask the same sort of embarrasing questions a mom would ask? -

It was this scene in which Vader dives into Luke's spirit and finds out that he has a sister (Leia). Vader definetely pushes Luke beyond his mental limits.

And yeah, I find it weird how Lucas made his original trilogy 4, 5, and 6, fully aware that he was going to make three preceding it.

I knew little about American musics or movies. So perhaps I am the odd one out here.
1973, the American army retreated from Vietnam. But war only stopped in 1975.
This is a song written in 1973. Maybe premature. Maybe hope.
Excuse my poor translating skill:
"Peace tonight, why has not the joy appeared in the mother's eyes" byTrinh Cong Son.! Click to hear the song:
! Peace tonight, why hasn’t the little child rejoiced
Let step outside and see the streets full of people
Peace to night, no smile was seen in his face
Looking around, he has nobody left.
Nobody left.
Resigned to sing the lull song to feel loved
! Peace tonight, why has not the joy appeared in the mother’s eyes
Mom, let go outside and see the street full of people
Peace tonight, the mother’s eyes are sad as the Buddhist praying.
The night praying lulls the cold house
Lulling the alone mother
Lulling the alone mother hugging darkness.
! Chorus:
Peace tonight I want to hear
The mother’s dreary words in her way to home
The man’s feral songs in the bright streets
The innocent child’s serene laugh from the deserted veranda
The woman’s singing choked with emotion, sitting by her child’s cozy cradle.
! Peace tonight I want to go
Seeing the innocent child in the woman’s smile
Seeing the old mother in the father’s tightened lip.
Seeing the man’s name in the love of his widow
Seeing the friends in my nostalgia
! Peace tonight why has not the man rejoiced
Let step outside and see the streets full of people
Peace tonight whose name are you silently calling
Whose name are you calling in the small house
The man is back from the battlefield
Listening to the tale, thinking it’s a dream
! Peace tonight, why hasn’t the joy appeared in the woman’s eyes
Sister, let go outside and see the street full of people
Peace tonight why are you still dazed
Lulling the baby, why such cold voice
Lulling the father killed in battle
Lulling the mundane world with only mother and child left -
Lucas is dirty rich, and you guys can cry all you want, but he'll always be dirty rich.

Late hello lorenzo. Good to see you around every year or so .

I usually browse around here once in a while looking for a topic I'd like to comment on…(I can't make topics, coz the mods banned me a long time ago on that power)
Meh, that one needed changing anyway...so what's the deal with Lucas anyway?
One thing I don't like about him is that, he tends to overrule so many things in canon starwars nowadays. -
