"…Or you can use that blade to stop Rapey-Davey from becoming Dead-Alive-Rapey-Davey" that line alone made this episode awesome lmfao.

Mark Wahlberg must've produced that episode.
-
That was a fairly good episode which raised my hopes for the season finale.
Is it just me or is Neegan like stupidpy trusting? Anyone who is actually suicidal enough to storm you fort by themselves can work to gain your trsut and shoot you in the back at the first opportunity.
-
! "Goddamn tiger"
! -Neegan -
! I had such a grin on my face when that tiger pounced. I knew at that moment something would save Carl, but I was so caught up in the tension of the scene that I completely forgot about the Kingdom.
! I expected the Sasha reveal, and it was played pretty well, but I thought the extra focus on her ruined this as a finale. It wasn't bad, but she's been mostly out of focus this season as we've been hopping around with characters. If this had been the penultimate episode to the season, I would have felt a bit better about it. But at this point with Sasha's character I didn't care that she died. I knew she'd be a walker, but I also knew in the end it wouldn't impact Negan's life so it felt pretty shallow.
! The garbage haircut people really felt forced in this season. Didn't help with the weird intro episode to them with the awful green screen, but they REALLY had Rick let them all in Alexandria, gave them all guns, and were surprised when things went wrong? I mean come on, at least have them gang up in the houses outside of Alexandria's wall or dig trenches. You really let the group of english class dropouts that were living in the dump come into your town after meeting them once when they agreed to be your fodder in return for weapons? AFTER they broke into Alexandria and kidnapped Gabriel? This part of the season really bothered me.
! On the brightside the Dwight/Daryl stuff was done very well and I'm very excited to see the two interact next season. If Norman Reedus is planning on leaving the show in the near future, it would be cool to have this season set up Dwight to be the "new Daryl" in terms of being a morale compass and helping recruit people into Alexandria, like Daryl tried to do to him.
! This episode also gave me hope that Eugene is going to die while bravely telling Negan to eat a dick, a true Abraham death. Eugene to me is like a better version of Gabriel.
! While I've enjoyed the season overall, I think it suffered from the Arrested Development Season 4 syndrome. Incidentally, what the Walking Dead had an issue with also in season 4. By having so many plot lines between these characters and jumping around so much, it feels hard to get attached to any of the characters when they try to make us care about another one the next week. And it's not like we're seeing different interactions either. Most of Rick's time this season has been with Michone. Maggy, Enid, Jesus, and Sasha. Morgan and Carol, etc. Last week when Tara was speaking to Rick and it made me thing, "is this the first time they've really talked?" I honestly barely see these characters interact so when they do it really is meaningless.
! We can focus in on a core group of 5 or 6 character for two episodes in a row, and then move to some others. You can multiple interactions between different characters, move the plot, and still show other characters. When they do these "Arrested Development S4" episodes, it feels like they're making 4 different shows. I can get them going for that angle since we have multiple communities now, but they can still focus on those characters without having to split the attention of our "main cast" as a way to show "our" POV of these new, complex places and people.
! Overall i enjoyed this much more than season 6 and I'm really looking forward to the next season.^My thoughts on the finale and season.
Side Note: Are we ever going to revisit the dude that went messing with Tara in the first Oceanside episode, or was that character just written off and that's that.

For me the most bothersome thing about them is their stupid language. Like, were they living in the zombie apacolyose longer than everyone else or something? It's like they had generations for their language to degenerate to just caveman talk. But its only been like a year or 2. They're not interesting weird. They're just stupid weird.

I don't remember if he died or not. I think it was left up in the air.

Kind of reminds me of the book "The Road". I read it back in High school and I remember hating it because of the lack of grammar and punctuation throughout the book. It's "supposed" to be written like that to convey the change in society in the apocalyptic future and that normal rules aren't followed anymore. However, as poetic as that is it made the book simply annoying to read personally. But AT LEAST that was a stylistic choice in a book that follows a man and his un-educated son so it makes sense.
The timeline of the Walking Dead show is like 2, 3 years tops since the beginning. No reason for them to lose all memories of elementary school english class in the course of 3 years.
! Props to Coral for firing the first shot
I got up and cheered at this part. I've been loving him this season, even if he has been seen less throughout it.
-
lol, what a pathetic ending for a pathetic season…I think TWD is so bad it deserves a prize, really, it was outstandingly bad. applause

Exactly! At least with the Kingdom we know why Ezekiel speaks the way he does. The garbage pail kids are just weirdos for no reason.
This season besides season.2 was probably the first time I left myself not interested in what was going on.
! Rosita is completely annoying the entire time. Sasha was extra sad over Abraham but I thought they weren't ever actually together. Rick and Michonne make each other weaker for some reason. Enid is pointless. Carl was only there to glower and do dumb things. Maggie put on her business pants but she really needed focus outside of Hill Top. Tara was meh.
! Basically everyone was pretty ineffective. Small steps forward but now they're worse off.
! I cracked up at the tiger though. Especially since I saw the before image of where the special effects weren't applied yet.
! Sasha's death was sad but expected since she's gonna be on Star Trek. But I did not expect her to be DOA. Sad stuff. -
So after Carol and Morgan now Jesus is the one "i cant kill people"…

So after Carol and Morgan now Jesus is the one "i cant kill people"…
They're not comparable at all.
Jesus has shown he's more than willing to kill, he's just not stooping to the Savior's levels. It wasn't like the attack on the satellite base in Season 6, where they thought the entire group was there and they ended the conflict. They had defeated these Saviors. At that point with Tara, the guy wasn't a threat. He took advantage of the conflict between the two to get the upperhand, but only after having a gun in his face with another person begging them not to, solidifying it as an "oh shit, I'm actually going to die here" moment for that Savior.
Whether you agree with his sentiment or not, Jesus's point was that the man didn't pose a threat at that moment, was giving up, could have easily been restrained and used him for more information. Jesus's point is why are they going to stoop to the Savior's level of doing things when they have the option not to.
With Morgan it was about him going absolutely insane, coming back from it because of a friend who would teach him to calm and appreciate peace, then struggle to maintain that philosophy when someone similar to his son dies. With Morgan it was about being brought to the absolute edge, coming back from it, and now struggling to find where that balance is. More similar to Carol.
I'm not a fan of Carol's temporary pacifism. It came up pretty abruptly with those Saviors in Season 6, and really didn't make sense. At first I thought her hysterics were a ploy, trying to escape to help Maggie and her unborn child. But it was a legitimate break down seemingly out of nowhere. I get the point they're trying to make, with her finally being done with the killing and no longer wanting to engage in a cycle of violence. But it came so far out of nowhere for a character that was known over the last few years as being the one to make some of the toughest calls for the group. If they had done more to show her becoming sick of it, it would have made sense. But it was right after her story line of acting like a regular housewife in Alexandria, while secretly keeping tabs on things and getting access to guns.

Nothing changes that its again talking about "kill him" "no we dont kill him"…

Holy shit. This was absolutely a death I did not see coming in any way.
! RIP Carl
-
On the one hand, I'm happy that fucking character is finally gone from this show. On the other hand, even if I hated the character with a fiery passion, the sheer randomness of it with zero buildup or even proper setup in the same episode was so fucking lazy. I'm sure people will defend it as being realistic, I just see it as a cheap cliffhanger thrown at the end to trick more people to keep watching the show.
-
In before
! Siddiq sucked the blood out of Carl's wound and Carl survives or is revealed to be immune. I honestly can't see any way the series will improve by killing off Carl at this point.
-
^ Some people think the show improved by killing off Lori (who they grew to hate) even though she died in the original books.
-

! Lori was a drag on the series and contributed nothing of interest. Carl seems to be learning from everyone else's mistakes at the very least.
-
! wait wait wait, huh??
I haven't watched in a long time, but I thought that Negan showing up meant that we'd end up going full comics route and have Carl end up slightly bonding with Negan after he gets imprisoned?
So we're definitely not going that way after all? From what little I read about the comic events, this puts me in the dark over what's next. -
! this episode was something so shitty, i dont know if i ever saw something like that… what these people do makes absolutely no sense, and Simons and Maggies strategys where bad on another level... and the Assasin walkers all the time... i cant take it anymore
-
Did people here give up on this series? Surprised nobody is talking about the finale.
-
Given some of the articles that keep popping up that's pretty likely.
-
Did people here give up on this series? Surprised nobody is talking about the finale.
I watched it, I just can't bring myself to talk about how terrible the past two seasons are anymore. Holy moly, I can't believe they killed Carl. After Season Seven #1 Rick should've remained broken (and then killed by Negan in the Season Seven finale) and Carl should've taken over as the main character. The finale was just…boring.
-
I think the finale was fine. But at the same time it highlights how much padding the season was. And the after credits was silly.

There was after credits? I didn't even realize they'd do that.
-

I'm talking the last scene with Maggie. Icall it after credits because Iinstantly thought of the after credits we get in the MCU movies to tease your sequel.
-
I've been watching, but as many have said it's issues keep it from being super exciting. The last two seasons have just highlighted the show's inability to handle a larger cast, with them trying way too many storylines at the same time. And when you have to focus on all of these different things it just slows the pace down of everything.
Like did we really need ANY of the Oceanside stuff? They could have left them alone after they took the guns, but instead they focused on this slow story of Aaron going to convince them for help. And then they show up for a few minutes into the finale? I would have rather had them play it straight and show the reformed Saviors help Tara fight. I actually did like the revelation that Simon was responsible for their massacre, but that's why I would have liked them to sit out the battle. It was a long time ago and they served better as an example of how the Saviors could cripple a community. Them coming back with molotov cocktails that acted like grenades was just silly and forced in a conflict that has been focused on all of the other communities.
Same goes for all of the trashpeople. It killed the momentum of the Saviors storyline when you need to cut away to this "who kidnapped Gabriel" story, with these awkward people that have decided to abandon grammer after like 2 or 3 years without internet grammar nazi's to correct them. The one good thing I can say is that I'm intrigued about whatever community it is that was connected to Jadis's community. It seems to be the group that visited Maggie that gave the "key to the future". Based on the fact that the dump had a helipad and it seemed to be coming on a scheduled time, i'd say that they were in some trade deal with the trash people.
I was satisfied with the overall end to the Saviors conflict with the other groups. I do wish there could have been more time of a realization for Rick between going apeshit on the Saviors that surrendered a few episodes ago, and listening to Carl's wishes.
What was otherwise a decent finale for me was ruined by the Maggie ending though. Is she right to be angry and want to kill Negan? Yeah. It's only been a month or so for them since Glenn died. But I'm just not looking forward to this petty "good guys fighting each other" conflict. I've been watching a season of that done awfully in Arrow currently so I'm not looking forward to the Walking Dead -an even more slow paced and crowded show- doing it as well.
-
Fair enough. Even I got bored watching the last several episodes. I don't get what the point of Gabriel's plot was.
Maggie not being visibly pregnant while Judith is like 5 is dumb.
The trash people. Oh lord…Like..Why? Oceanside isn't interesting. That boy following Carol and Morgan around is the new Carl I guess. Never doing what he's told.
I'm looking forward to the helicopter getting some explanation.
It'll be interesting to see where this goes though.

I don't watch the show or read the comics at all but I have a question; Why don't any of the characters call them zombies or some other term for living dead? I've seen clips here and there and I've had some people talk about the show with me, but I can never get an honest answer on why it is, in a world where religions and religious mythology exist that there is no record of the term living dead, undead, zombie, or some variant of these terms. It's inconceivable that in world where people have judeo-christian values, as wells hundreds if not thousands or millions of other religions and cultures inter-mixing, that there is no universally or at the very least unique colloquial term for zombie. It boggles the mind. Why do they call them walkers? I mean I know why they call them walkers, but it doesn't make sense. For that to happen in this world religion as well as believers in the superstitious or supernatural could not exist. There are millions of books that could not exist which would in turn mean that some of the books could not have helped shaped the modern cultural landscape that exist in the walking dead. So then is there no term for vampire? Werewolf? Ghost?

"Well, zombie lore is very popular. We wanted to avoid that notion of, ‘Hey, why doesn't that character just shooting that zombie in the head because it saw all those movies I saw.' We wanted to kind of give you a sense that The Walking Dead takes place in a universe where zombie fiction doesn't exist," Kirkman said on Conan.
-
So that explains the term zombie not existing but that doesn't explain why there is not a substitute close to it. Walkers sounds contrived, the term doesn't make sense in a world where there must be literature on the subject of other beings that are similar to zombies if not zombies themselves. Like i said I don't read the comics nor watch the show, so I don;t know if the terms undead, living dead, ghoul, or what have were thrown around. My problem is isn't even the fact that they don't use the term zombie, it's that from what i've seen, there is no one who seems to believe that this walker epidemic is rooted in supernatural origin. I don't know it's even touched that anyone believes that as a viable reason for why they exist. Its a virus, and that I do know, but does every single character also know that? If so how? Why? I find it hard to believe that there are no religious factions that are spouting doomsday shpeel about this epidemic, there are no people who have started using this opportunity to push their own wild agendas by blaming insert race, religion, sex, etc. here.
-
The last bit would be utterly stupid though since it would have just as much credibility in the Walking Dead Universe as it does in the real world.
It was already enough when we had a religious guy like Herschel thinking it was a good idea to keep Walkers in a barn, despite you know being dangerous creatures who cause other people to turn into more Walkers.
-

There might have been such movement at the start but the story start much after they overrun everything.
There is no society left. There's like group of survivors that have to search and strive for food, water, security etc… The average survivor don't give a damn where they came from just how to not get eaten.
Also I think considering we know of the black plague and other disease people would assume a mutation went bad rather than some supernatural event.
-
I'm not sure who still watches but it seems we are getting a timeskip.
Also Morgan is in Fear of the Walking dead season 4
-
This will be my last season of the show. I read Naruto for years weekly and stuck with it til the very end because I just needed to see it finish after the time I put into it.
While their names aren't in the title, this has been about Carl and Rick. Carl being killed almost made me quit. But with Lincoln leaving, I'm not going further than the end of this season.
-
Wait, Lincoln is leaving? So why kill Carl? He could've taken over.
-
Carl couldn't maintain that maybelline hair do anymore.
-
That and you have Daryl.
-
And Michonne. And Maggie (or is she leaving too). But there's also Carol and Ezekiel…And a bunch of other adults.
-
Bump
Main series is coming to an end with season 11 but will be getting a pair of new spinoffs coming down the pike.
-
…wow, I'm so behind. I stopped with Andy Lincoln's last episode. Kind of wild to think the series is finally coming to an end.
...well, frankly it should've ended a long time ago but alas, capitalism!
-
There's only a handful of characters I hate and Carl is 1 of them. He was just so annoying. Glad when he was finally killed of some seasons back. Heard the actor didn't like it either
-
Well if your character who is alive in the comic books is being bumped off for reasons you probably wouldn't like it either.
-
Wait, I don't follow this series but I heard (at the time) that the actor had education commitments and he pretty much left to focus on them, thus they had to kill him off.
Has that been debunked or something? -
^
They fucked him. It's really upsetting to read about. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was a final nail in the coffin that made the series such a mess. They really, honestly, should have just brought him back and put a disclaimer in the front of the episode saying "We fucked up, sorry, please just pretend Carl didn't die."
-
If they didn’t do that for the seasons that tuned people out and cause them to shed a substantial number of viewers we know they wouldn’t have done that either.
-

On the contrary, the show fucked over the kid who played him.
He delayed college and actually bought a house near Atlanta where they shoot. In the season they killed him off. He had a limited role in the previous season as he was finishing school, and decided to firmly commit to the show. And they responded by killing him off. Honestly in one of the most unsatisfying way possible. His character died to save a new character, and then the show killed THAT character off a season and half later, in a dumb way.
