I don't think it's official yet but he hangs around with them a lot.

That's cool. I'll probably pick it back up again when my semesters over.
-
Fucking Chuck Fans are cheating.
-
@The:
I've basically stopped watching since NBC put Perfect Couples on right after it, so can anyone tell me has Senior Chang officially joined the study group?
Technically he's been an official member since the mid season start "Asian Population Studies". In the episode Jeff gets the group to vote of Chang into the group, to keep Annie's choice, Rich from the pottery episode from joining. But since then he still avoided by the group, or characters will talk about how to get rid of him.
EDIT:
That's crazy! People are really dedicated to this aren't they. (in terms of making a bot to vote).
-
That would explain why it went from being neck and neck for the entirety of the week to being such a blow out today.
Eh, whatever. We all know which show is better. I'll just make sure to vote Dexter in the finals. though the Chuck fans will probably bot that one too.
Is it wrong that this really makes me hope for Chuck doesn't get renewed?
(And yes, I'm a fan of the show. However, I feel it's gone downhill since [a phenomenal] season 2) -
Actually I was already under the assumption that all series' fans were using bots to vote. that's how the internet works.
-
Well, obviously, we Community fans aren't, otherwise we wouldn't have fallen 6% in a day.
I guess we're just a better kind of fan!
-
The better kind of fan wouldn't care about an stupid trophy. As long as the study group graduates in a fully developed series, the rest is irrelevant.
How long does a community college course last? 4 years?
-
Mine;s two years. I guess it just depends.
And yeah, it's rather petty that people have to cheat in an internet poll :\ We all know the clear winner.
-

I absolutely agree. I just wanted Dan Harmon and Co to win public recognition for their hard work.
How long does a community college course last? 4 years?
Yeah. It can either be 2 or 4 at base. Like with a normal university, depending on the number of classes taken each semester it could take 5. Jeff has declared a four year plan, so that's probably how many seasons the show will have. Yeah that kind of sucks, but it gives the show really good chances of getting a fourth season as long as ratings stay up…
-
4 seasons is pretty much pefect.
-
At least they're not going to milk it like is so common these days.
-
"Milking it" implies that the show is creatively exhausted but still lucrative enough to convince the execs that it's better than their other options. Community got to a third season hanging from its fingertips (thanks to even worse-performing competition) and is equally likely to get canceled after that if it doesn't suddenly attract a much larger audience. I don't think "milking it" is even an option.
-
Community lost? Sorry guys.
Well, if it makes you feel better.
! Chuck won't be around for very long at all. Let the festivities begin.
-
I still voted Chuck. Same reasons Alan Sepinwall voted for it.
80 to 20 really is a slaughter though. Very appropriate picture, Insider.
-
Chuck winning through bots. There has to be an intersect joke here somewhere
-
You mean sort of like how, even after four Seasons Chuck still can't do anything on his own and relies on the intersect?
-
God I do hope Chuck doesn't get renewed, its like seeing something you loved once come back in a hacked up, twisted, and raped form. Okay maybe not that dramatic but there has been a clear decline from season 2 and I have gotten to the point of just deleting episode after episode of Chuck off my DVR because I find myself just bored with the show. Its another clear case of a show that went a season too long, after a fantastic first two seasons, they should have gotten the hint from the falling ratings, come back with well planned final season for the die-hards and ended it there. Now its just plodding along and is a shadow of its former self which makes Community better than Chuck in every way right now.
-
Exactly!
The first two seasons of Chuck were great, and I absolutely loved season 2. That finale was amazing "Guys…I know kung fu..." I really wanted a third season, and what they gave us was good, and the ending of the season, minus the mom part, would have been a perfect series finale. They beat the ring, everyone finds out about Chuck, and they all live happily ever after.
It seems like the only reason for a fourth season was to focus on the Chuck Sarah relationship, which wasn't needed.
The writing has gotten repetitive, and everything is extremely predictable.
I used to absolutely love Chuck, and I'm really upset with what happened to it.
I honestly think the best thing for it now is to end. The writers are obviously out of creative ideas, so another season would just be miserable. -
Just watched this weeks episode and it was pretty good.
Loved seeing Professor "Professerson" again. He's as dramatic as ever.
Also, all the storylines were handled pretty well especially since they had A, B, and C plots going.
Oh, and next weeks episode is the flashback episode!
-
Last episode had a series low by far, a 1.3. NBC hasn't ordered a specific amount of new episodes yet, so I'm worried they're only going to order half a season.
-
I think it would help if they didn't schedule so many damn breaks in the season. I've given up on following the weekly schedule and only know to check my DVR when I see all the Community threads on my go-to forums topped at the same time.
-
You can attribute that to the break, I'd think, not to much Idol drama >_>
-
Too few people drink cognac in bathtubs. I have to agree that the schedule is really annoying.
-
Well, there's an episode every week until the end of the season now. Even if that's only a month.
And all these shows have breaks. It's not like Dan and co. decide when they are, that's on NBC.
-
@Chucklepants:
You can attribute that to the break, I'd think, not to much Idol drama >_>
much -> mention. Who has time for Community when IDOLOMGZFAPFAPFAP
Sad but true. :(
-
Ned Ryerson was the highlight of this weeks episode
Though all in all, this season's been way weaker than the first.
-
I would have to disagree. I think this season has definitely been better.
When I think of my top five favorite episodes from this series only Modern Warfare makes the list from season one.
I think it would go:
Conspiracy Theories and Soft Defenses
Cooperative Calligraphy
Modern Warfare
Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas
Critical Film StudiesBut of course, this is just me.
Both seasons have been fantastic, I just believe 2 has more memorable episodes.
-
I like season two better as well, mostly because the more experimental concept episodes suit the nature of the writing better. I've always thought the sappy/emotional side of the show is really contrived and a lot of that has to do with how acerbic and fastpaced the jokes are – you have to earn the audience's empathy with the right balance of humor, sentiment and character (something that, for example, golden age Simpsons did incredibly well) and the default mode for Community tends to be at around 45% plot, 50% jokes and 5% sentiment, while pretending that it's an even 33/33/33. It often feels off, sort of the way I felt about the balance of drama and slapstick in FMA.
Which is not to say they don't ever succeed. I thought the Dinner With Abed episode was an incredibly good character episode.
-
Season 2 is much more consistent, whereas season 1 had a handful of episodes that are borderline unwatchable.
-
In my opinion, Season 1 was defiantly a better season, with the key word in mind was consistency. The writing was more consistent, the narrative throughout the season flowed better, and the episodes were simply more consistently good. There were bad episodes in Season 1, for the most part there were in the beginning of the season before it got its legs, and the contrast between the good and the bad were a little bit more gray.
I know I've ranted about this before, but season 2 was anything but consistent. So many plot points brought up only to either be ignored or finished off before it could bloom. I still love the show, I like season 2, its just not the same writing I grew to love.
A big example in Season 2 was Ritch. I thought it was cool they brought him back for the Halloween episode, and it was really cool that he joined the Anthropology class. But after the mid-season opener where we see Jeff confess how he wants to be more like him… and then the character is completely dropped the rest of the season... Oh and Jeff remains unchanged.
That's not good writing.
I mean you get episodes like Advance Dungeons and Dragons, Epidemiology, Basic Rocket Science, and Intro to Political Sciences which are amazingly entertaining, clever, and funny. But then again this season also gave us Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas, and Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design..
But then again even with the strongest episodes like Advance Dungeons and Dragons there were some weird writing going on. Was it just me or was the resolution on this episode really really weak? I understand the Fat Neil grew, but I didn't see it.
-
Don't assume we won't see Ritch again yet. There are still four episodes left.
And I'm thinking we're going to get an extended episode of D&D on the DVD set, because you're right, the resolution was weak. It seemed rushed almost like it came out of nowhere.
-
1.- It's a commedy, funny triumphs continuity
2.- Jeff is a better person
3.- Community has been consistent till now -

I'm hoping for that the latter. But I'm half expecting Ritch to pop up in the flashbacks.
-

Both of these were great episodes.
-
I love this show. Though I thought the first season was generally funnier than the second, the second season is still funny. Like my brother said, they seem to be running out of ideas, the episodes have little to do with being in a community college.
-
@Rubber:

The episodes never seemed to use that as a focal point though, even in the first season. Sure, you'd have some episodes focus on it, but it's not a driving part of the show.
-
It's a toss-up for me. Season 1 had very good, multi-plot episodes, which were for the most part missing in Season 2 until lately. Season 1 had a few fantastic special episodes, and Season 2's had even better ones, but a couple have fallen flat. Overall, though I'd say the second season is marginally better, but both seasons have their pros and cons.
-
Just watched today's episode. It was really good.
! It definitely put a new spin on a flashback clips episode. And they did well and made it their own.
I think it could be one of the best episodes so far of the season. -
We need more Dean Pelton cartoons.
-
Great episode loved The Cape references and the way Harmon answered the Annie and Jeff situation with a "you might just be overreacting" with an Pierce and Abed montage.
-
I thought this episode was kind of a mixed. I enjoy the Dean cartoon a lot more than the actual episode itself. Don't get me wrong I loved the Looking into things montage gag, and I really like the fact that they bothered to animate a scene further for the stop motion episode. But something just felt like it was missing from the episode.
Also best line the episode for me was "And I think Chang's in the gruop now…"
Edit:
Couldn't stop laughing when Chang appeared in a speedo and geese.... that was genius.
-
]It definitely put a new spin on a flashback clips episode. And they did well and made it their own.
To be fair, the Clerks cartoon did it first.
To also be fair, this was one of the best episodes this season so far.
-
Troy's nosebleed because of the nested flashbacks was hilarious . And I second that we need more Dean cartoons.
-
The season is only nine episodes in. There's a lot of stuff that's been going on in the background that could be brought up again anytime soon. Jeff's possible relation with Britta, Chang and Shirley's baby, etc.
Posted January 18.
-
Ok, so the whole episode I was like " YES FINALLY BRITTA AND JEFF ARE BACK, WOHOO! SCREW YOU JEFFxANNIE, BURN IN HELL, YOU DESERVE IT"
.. but at the end of the episode…. I was.. just sad :(
But it was a good ep :D
WHAT'S DEAN GOT TO DO WITH IT?
-
God this episode was fantastic.
Poor Chang. I laughed so much at the diorama with him standing outside the study room looking in.
I want to see the Ghost Town episode so bad now.
And I loved the Pierce/Abed "romance" scene.
-
Ok, so the whole episode I was like " YES FINALLY BRITTA AND JEFF ARE BACK, WOHOO! SCREW YOU JEFFxANNIE, BURN IN HELL, YOU DESERVE IT"
…why does Annie deserve to burn in hell?
EDIT: Loved Abed's shirt!
-
People look at me ugly when I say that I enjoy more Community than Big Bang Theory, 2 and 1/2 men and how I meet your mother.
-
It's okay, Dexter, I'm in the same boat as you.
