@Xen:
The dean's rap in the cold open is one of the greatest things ever.
It truly was I wish someone could tell me if he did it again this season oh well. Also Gillian is sexy as hell to me this season.

I feel like the look on Gillian Jacobs face after the dean's rap is her trying not to laugh.
Oh my god cowboy Vince Gilligan, that was great, I totally didn't see that coming. Community has really raised the bar of guest stars this season.
While I liked the episode itself (the Dean's rap xD), it feels kinda weird now that it seems like Chang and Duncan are left out of quite some of the meetings. I mean, they are teachers, they could have classes, but still…
Also it's kind of a shame how little the Dean got to do this season so far in general. Until now he hasn't played any real major role in an episode.
For some reason I really enjoyed Anthony's character. Wouldn't mind seeing him again.

Think this kind of goes back to the whole return to basics this season did.
I feel like a lot of people will get on them about doing Dungeons and Dragons again and if it wasn't so fun I probably would to but it was fun, as strong an episode as the original no. But that was probably my favorite episode ever. But David Cross did a damn good job and as well as Jim Rash. It was a good episode.
Yep that was a sugar overload of D&D in the best way. @taggerung Rash was great in my top 3 Dean performances.
best part:
"he was always on a place ryming on not there"
" what, times square?"
Um…
Uh-oh.
That opening will be glorious.
On top Episode 12 has its synopsis revealed. I've read somewhere that this will be the first part of a 2 part finale arc.
5.12 - Basic Story

Holy shit Buzzkill and Forth Wall
I'm really hopping this is before ADR.
Silver R. Bolt, a bunch of guys are asking if you're ever going to do designs for Chang, Dean, Hickey, Duncan and Magnitude. They loved your other designs.

Maybe in the future. I kinda want to redo the original set again. Its been like 2 years since I drew them. I'm a lot better now.
Bump:
That was a lot of fun.
What did I just watch Oo
–------------------------
Chang feeling korean cracked me up the most xD.
New favorite episode!
@Shipper:
clearly it was a move against us.
lol, this episode apparently gets some hate of shippers, because they made the age gap between Jeff & Annie bigger - which was the main point in the episode according to them. I have no words.
While the episode was quite good imo, it seems there was a continuity error with Jeff now being older than Shirley - which contradicts the events we saw in the foosball episode, where we saw an older Shirley beating a younger Jeff in their childhood.
I didn't like it overall. I liked the cartoon parts. The commercial parts were funny. But I didn't like how they tied it back to the real world. Witha comma cause jeff took some strange pills so he could feel young. That just seemed stupid to me.
Like they wanted to do a GI Joe spoof. So jeff has to be knocked out. Jeff is knocked out cause he took some weird pills and drank whiskey. He did that cause he felt too old and he's lying about his age. I feel like the episode should have been made in the opposite direction.

I disagree, this was the defiantly a very Community way of dealing with a mid-life crisis. Jeff has always been obsessed with appearances both physically and mentally. Jeff being a middle age college professor is probably the least coolest thing you could be to Jeff Winger, who was a year ago a sexy manipulative lawyer. That's 100% the opposite of what he wanted in life.
Jeff being into G. I. Joe makes so much sense it hurts. He was a fatherless youth, looking for a male role model. What's more masculine than G. I. Joe? He, like most of us probably got way too much into that reality as a kid. Dreaming to be with his heroes.
On a side note. What does it say about Duncan who couldn't be arsed to show up with his new drinking buddy's bed during a coma. That's the odd thing about actors being busy outside of the show. Or that Troy nor Pierce showed up in his dream. That's sad that he's already written them off. I kind of understand pierce, but I think he should've showed up as a villain… though most of the villains were associated with Greendale.
Troy being a Joe called "Deserter" or "On the Bus" would've been really good.
Regarding the talk about Jeff being younger than Shirley. It was very clear that Shirley and Jeff were the same age. It is possible for some children especially those of larger status to appear older looking than other children. Fat children to have a older look to them.
There was a letter to Jeff from Pierce on his office desk during the dream. Said "Welcome to the club" or something like that. It was among some Joe toys.
I don't disagree with the things episode presented. Your point about Jeff probably being into GI Joe is good, i don't think it's strong enough to be the natural direction for the story to flow in even by community standards. And I still don't like how the whole thing was all together. It's something very silly, then it's actually a serious issue but it's not treated that way it's still being treated as a joke. It didn't feel right. Like Abed's christmas felt like something both funny and tragic at the same time which is what this episode should have felt like. Instead it felt like Funny GI spoof, serious back to reality references, funny GI spoof. It didn't mix for me.
I liked the episode. The last like 5 minutes is some of my favorite Community moments ever.
It ended. Have to say that I wasn't too taken with the last few episodes but I adore the first half.
The repilot up to Troy's departure resonated with me so much, I've rewatched each of them 3-4 times after they aired.
That said I still enjoyed the latter half and they did make me laugh it's just that I couldn't connect with the emotional themes some of those episodes had.
In any case I still want a 6th season I definitely think this show hasn't run out of steam yet and can still deliver interesting stuff.
It might be wise though to move towards an definite end soon or set a total shift in motion. While I can deal with them being another year at Greendale I think it might be good for them to try anchor this show outside of it like they planned in the beginning.
Loved everything up until Troy leaving, loved G.I. Jeff episode, and loved the Meow Meow Beenz, but everything else was a dude for me. Still, it's community. I really hope Troy comes back if it gets renewed.
I like the second half of the finale more than the first. Overall it was a good season, a nice come back.
While I enjoyed the season for the most part, I think it has some problems. And no I don't think Chevy Chase or Donald Glover's departure are the said problems. Though, I truly miss Pierce and Troy. I've been watching random episodes from Seasons 1-4, and Pierce used to be such a great asset to the show; and we all know Troy added so much humor in everything he did. Though, Hickey is a fine replacement to Pierce, and I'm completely satisfied by him. Too bad rumor has it he probably won't be around due to a tight schedule next year if the show is picked up. And Duncan I don't really count as a replacement to Troy in the same sense as Hickey to Pierce. Maybe its because Duncan was already established, but I do appreciate him too. I wish this season expanded on the Duncan x Jeff bromance that they planed to replace Troy and Abed. Also, Abed and Annie is a great mix, the finale last night showed a really good moment there.
Going back to Hickey, is that I didn't feel like we got enough time with him being part of the group for him to get so close to the group as he did. The 13 episodes really hurt the over all seasonal passing. I think we needed more episode of Hickey adjusting before he became such a core part of the group. Its also sad to see all the rumors that Jonathan Banks might be too busy for a 6th season, same for John Oliver. That bums me that we spent 6 episodes to get the group where it is, only for it to change again.
But overall this seasons feels very disjointed and lost. Episodes are all over the place and none of them connect. They are fine stand-alone episodes, but outside of the 01-02, 05-06, and 12-13 there's no real connection between the episodes. I guess this shouldn't be a problem, but Seasons 1-4 had such continuity that its a shame to see that go this season.
On a side note, I have been watching Season 4 again, mostly while I unpack my room. And you know as much hate I see for it, from Harmon, from Reddit, and from the fans in general. Its not a bad season at all. Yea there's some of the weakest episodes the show's ever done, Advance Introduction to Finality, and Intro to Felt Surrogacy come to mind, it feels like a much more solid whole piece than Season 5.
I know that's tar and feather level of blasphemy. But things were so coherent and built off each other. Yea, there was some regression, there was also growth, and overall the season feels very much of a extension of Season 3. I honestly can't tell the difference between those episodes with exception of saturated colors.
One more note of rambling. Man, Shirley always seems to get the shaft in terms of appearance and screen time. Which sucks, because with the exception of Joel Mchale, I see her promote and love the show more than any other cast member.
The reason I've seen for Shirley's lack of screentime is that Shirley's best material tended to come from Meghan Ganz (sp), which is a shame, but understandable. Honestly, I don't think continuity's a really big deal, and I enjoyed this season for the most part. Every episode hit the mark for me, save maybe the finale (though I love the way it ends) and the MeowMeowBeenz (but that's largely to do with Shirley being handled poorly). Ultimately, I don't think Season 5 was as solid as Seasons 1-3, but it was still fantastic.

I've been saying for a while now that the 4th season is nowhere near the abomination fans make it out to be. It may not be perfect and it did have some misses but I felt this season had just as many or more misses, or rather "not quite there" moments. I know the premier and the second to last episodes got a little too depressing for my tastes. (Also,I loved the puppets episode)
Did the finale really have a moment where Jeff opens a door with the power of his feelings for his friends? Where it was played straight and not in an ironic, "this is stupid, right guys?" way? Really? lol

In the scene, the group is locked in a computer room with the original dean of the school. The room is powered by his pet project a machine that is powered by emotions. The original dean says they're stuck unless they can generate more feelings that him playing with his nipples (good luck!) Jeff ask everyone to turn around as he puts on the helmet. He looks at each member of the group (at the moment the group consist of Annie, Abed, Britta and the Dean). As he looks at each member you here a voice over, of what Jeff believe's the character is thinking; Abed says something meta, Dean ask him to save him, Britta ask them to leave this place behind forever, Annie simply says "M'lord". A power surge happens as soon as he looks at Annie. The group ask what he did, but he says its stupid. The Dean looks at Jeff believing that their love caused the machine to work.

Soooo… yes?
I felt like the discussion here during season 4 was overall level headed. Across the internet there were fanatics on both sides. Half the people felt like the show was still doing it best even during bad episodes. The other half felt like all the episodes were a sin against mankind. The truth is somewhere in between but Season 4 still ranks the lowest for me. Though this finale was better than lasts seasons but not by much.
I just can't get over how dumb that door scene was. For a show that thinks it's so smart and clever with the way it breaks the fourth wall and subverts cliches (to the point it has a main character dedicated to doing that), it sure went for the lowest hanging fruit imaginable to make its point about Jeff caring about the school. Might as well had the My Little Pony theme song playing in the background.

I cringed at that scene too, and a few others, to be honest. It was there only to please shippers (oh Community, what have you become).
I think some episodes, especially the last two, were trying way too hard, which was a similar feeling i had many times in season 4.
And i think they crossed a line with all the meta humor, to the point where it got too obvious and isn't clever anymore. These last two episodes were basically all about being meta, and in a smartass way.
Overall, i think this season was a bit better than 4 (mostly due to the awesome Pierce's will episode. the social network one also comes to mind), but it would benefit from better focus and continuity, which it seriously lacked. And we needed more Duncan.
Ugh… GI Jeff remains the season finale for me.
I cannot believe that they played that "I'm going to open the door with the power of my feelings" scene straight.
Ugh.
Does anyone know when we might get confirmation for a new season/cancellation at latest?
Does anyone know when we might get confirmation for a new season/cancellation at latest?
I think the verdict should be announced in the next week. Should be. NBC is really bad about these things.
NBC just announced that Community is effectively canceled.
Looks like an asteroid destroyed all human civilization after all.

….huh, really?
I mean I'll admit I haven't been watching this new season but....wow.
Yeah, the last season jinxed it:
It's been an honor guys.
It was seeming like things were good there for a while, which precipitated my original leave, as I signed a non-disclosure contract for Community season 6 and Better Call Saul. Then a little over a month ago things took a turn. (The "Uh-oh" post).
Two days ago my original contract was voided and a new one was drawn up for work on other Sony properties. It's been a sad few days.
Damn hearing about Hannibal being renewed today I was praying Community would be renewed as well, but sadly that didn't happen.
It was a hell of a ride, though.
If there is a plus, Sony is supposedly shopping it around to another channel and online could be a possibility
