I heard this was a good series, so I read up to when those two Soul Reaper guys came to take that Rukia girl.
This is such a great series, hopefully it'll get even better.

The sad thing about Reborn is that the comedy arc and even certain elements of the battle arcs that came after actually had the mangaka respect males and females alike in her storytelling…the problem is the fangirls swarmed to the series due to the bishonen and now it's impossible to take any discussion of the series seriously...well OK maybe it is ridiculous in other ways but when a friend of mine literally burst to me that he found "nice looking girls" and showed me a pic of Squalo and Belphegor...I had to set him straight.

If you knew and even read the freaking Bleach manga, you'd find out that the pacing is not as bad as these guys make it out to seem like. So put up and shut up until you even see a PAGE of the Bleach manga because you have no right to talk about it, to judge it, or even criticize it because you have no idea what the plot is, who the characters are, etc.

Pretty simple although it's more complex than One piece where the plot can be basically summed up as Luffy is following his goofy ass dream of becoming king of the pirates.

Well….it seems to be not as significant as Luffy's dream. Being the Pirate king revolves around being the most free person on the sea.
And Luffy said many times he would get stronger to defend his crewmates.
So maybe Ichigo and Luffy have a similarity in that regard (striving to defend important ones).

That's more of a priority or a sense of duty than a dream. He doesn't have a goal or dream in life unless his ambition in life is to just get strong as you say. That's any typical Shonen protagonist's priority. Protect your friends.

It's just a little extra stuff. And I think that the ancient kingdom, lost history, geography myths go hand in hand with Luffy becoming pirate kind while the rest of the stuff is something Luffy doesn't even care about and plus that's kinda Robin's dream. Actually, Luffy and even Robin don't even wanna learn about any of that stuff because Rayleigh could've told the Strawhat Crew all of the truth and they decided not to learn about the truth. Luffy might end slavery while I can see the rest falling into his dad's hands.

The only plot I can think of is the characters trying to defeat Aizen but always failing. And that is more of a goal.
