Chapter 595: "Oath" Discussion
-
-
I've been wrong with casual thoeries or ideas PLENTY of times but when I stick my foot in the ground and say, "THIS IS HOW ODA SHALL COME TO MOLD THE STORY!", I don't think I've ever been wrong.
It just means you could be a good writer.
Or you have half of oda's brain.
Which would explain alot…

This is only if Oda decides to make Luffy Pirate King/find One Piece…but since that is the most predictable ending of the series then I would have to say, given Oda's track record with being unpredictable, there is a possibility that Luffy may not become Pirate King or find One Piece or something to that effect.
You mean… no one will find One Piece?
-
@Don:
every SH has something to achieve.
only Zoro,Franky and Sanji could possible die in the NW while still achieving their dreams.
Defeating Mihawk, seeing the TS as the ship of the future PK(or travelling to the end of the NW) and discovering the AllBlue could all be done their and after that they could die.Brook has to go to Laboon..is hard to kill anyways^^
Nami finishing her world map and also Gen(zo) said to Luffy he can`t allow her to die
Robin discovering the Rioporneglyph and bringing that message to the whole world
Chopper..well being a good doctor, yeah i think he could also die peaceful after he saved Luffy from a disease or something^^and like you said, Usopp has to live on to tell Kaya from his adventures and to show the Usopp pirates that ecery dream can come true^^
Seems like they should enjoy their victory of conquering the grand line. Just seems more like a "happy ever after" ending (except if Luffy dies much like Roger)
Luffy should also get children. Though it's as weird as it was to think that Goku actually did it. Though Luffy did show interest when he looked at Nami when she was in the bathhouse at Alabasta. -
-
You mean… no one will find One Piece?
He means Luffy will die reaching his hand out towards it.Then his son wit Boa will come 15 years later and finally claim the thing. unpredictable
The One Piece is also the thing in all of the guys pants except for the okamas
-
The way One Piece has been written so far, it'd be a huge kick to the balls if anyone of the SHs wasn't around for a big victory party (Oda said he likes parties, so I'd imagine the main story will end with one, then maybe an epilogue). I mean, it's been generally light-hearted, and aside from this saga dedicated to showing Luffy he needs to improve, things haven't ended sadly in any given arc.
-
I Mean What I Say And I Say What I Mean
You mean… no one will find One Piece?
The heading alone should answer your questions sir.
But in any case ill just say that I did not mean "no one", just Luffy.
Again, these are all predictions and have no base for truth, aside from the fact that Oda can be very unpredictable at times.

Ye but with the recent events in the story, i wouldnt be surprised if Oda's real message is that "in the real world, not everyone can achieve their dreams" Ace couldn't make WB the pirate king.
The story is all about romance, but to just destroy that with being realistic at the end. unpredictable but impactful i think.
-
I think I'd be left with a very sour taste in my mouth if any of the Straw Hats ended up dying at the end of the story, Luffy especially, since with all the Roger simularities that Oda goes out of his way to comment on, I wouldn't put it past him to pull a generation xerox kinda thing at the end. Hopefully without all the dying though.
But I can imagine Luffy disbanding the crew at the end of the story like Roger did after everything is said and done and everyone goes off to do their own thing for a while before reuniting one last time or something.
-
I think Luffy has a possibility of dying at the end. There's been so much emphasis on how many years he's cutting off his life with the gears and Iva's hormones, it'd be strange if it never came into play. It wouldn't even have to be a sad ending - Luffy's said from the very beginning that he's not afraid of dying. Rayleigh's description of Roger's death was more triumphant than anything; while Luffy is obviously a different person, him dying after becoming the PK from the wear and tear of protecting his friends would be a sort of victory for him. It would also bring the story full circle.
Ye but with the recent events in the story, i wouldnt be surprised if Oda's real message is that "in the real world, not everyone can achieve their dreams" Ace couldn't make WB the pirate king.
Luffy not finding One Piece? No way. First of all, the thing itself probably going to be an important plot point related to the the poneglyphs. Second, it's the main character's dream in a manga about dreams. The Ace comparison makes no sense - he's not the main character and it wasn't his real dream. Ace admitted at the end that his real wish had always been knowing whether or not he should have been born; this wish was fulfilled and he died smiling.
-
Well, it wouldn't be sad for Luffy, I'm sure, but I bet it sure as hell will be sad for the Straw Hats and the readers.
-
I think in the end, Luffy will become Pirate King. But, don't forget about Coby storyline. Whole story start with Coby and it will end with him. Don't know who will be the winner in their fight
-
Then his son wit Boa will come 15 years later and finally claim the thing. unpredictable
Oh, that is unpredictable.

I C what you did there . . .
rly?
in germany its written like that^^ [http://opwiki.de/wiki/Porneglyph](http://opwiki.de/wiki/Porneglyph) how
s the english word than? -
Well, whatever the ending is Oda has had it planned out for years now. Since the beginning of the manga really, so if he plans on killing Luffy he would be dropping those subtle hints. Unless they're red herrings and he's really going for the 'Happily Ever After Party' ending.
When Roger died Rayleigh described it as both a sad and joyous time.
! I already said I can see Luffy dying and while it would be sad I can still imagine much joy celebrating his life and accomplishments.

poneglyphs
I remember a thread around here made by some guy and the title was the porneglyph thread or something to that effect and it was nothing but trolling about the spelling mistake. Strange that they would call it that in Germany
-
thats because in Germany we don`t give a fuck about it…
-
But… then his "king of the pirates/find one piece" dream is completely squashed.
Last chap title:
-
Porneglyph sounds like the title of a Robin-centric H-doujin.
-
Luffy's death would also be predictable…
I am pretty convinced that the ending will be disappointing in some way, at least for me. We all have an "ending" in mind, and if the real ending doesn't fit with the one we have in mind we will be disappointed I mean... if there is a happy ending there will be people thinking that it was too predictable, and others will have the same reaction towards a "sad" ending where the main character dies in a heroic way. However, there are so many possibilities that I don't think that anybody will guess it right, it's Oda after all...
Anyway, it's a little too early to be discussing the ending, let's just keep enjoying the ride and hope Oda will surprise us again.
-
An ending I would be okay with, if Luffy were to die, would be were you see the other SH's playing roles like Rayleigh and Shakki and helping the new age of Pirates into the future…
However, I don't see Oda not having a happy ending to this story, most likely it will end with Luffy living out a life of adventure with his crew on the sea as Pirate King. That would fulfill his dream and Oda can wrap it up with a nice, neat happy ending
-
i think Luffy can
t leave the world in the same way as Roger. Roger leave behind him an era who has to achieve something he and his crew already discovered. i mean it should be obvious that the WG and the void century will have something to do with the rioponeglyph(better now ) and that Oda is telling us Luffy
s story definitely means that he will be the one who changes the world in the end.i don
t say that everything will be happy happy joy joy in the end, but non the less Luffy will do what Roger wasn
t able anymore to do and change the world.
Luffy will give the younger generation maybe another message so that they set sail, but the one Roger wanted to search for(the One Piece) will be solved in the end. -
I can't see Luffy bringing down the World Government on his own, though…
Luffy will discover what happen in the void century and all, most likely. In fact, I think that he may be a descendant of the people that Doctor Clover mentioned back in the Ohara flashback, along with the other people carrying D. on their names. The phrase "The will of D. is still alive" has been said several times by different people, and all referring to Luffy, so it's obvious that Luffy is the next pirate king and that he will bring that "New Era" Shanks said to Whitebeard when he asked about his lost arm. However, I don't see Luffy joining his father and helping him as some people think...
Anyway, that's just my opinion.
-
of course luffy wont help his father they are both to shelfish on their own power that . his father would ne ver want the help off his son.. and luffy would never care about the revolution of his father cause he justs wants to be free.. luffy will be grater than his father… we all know that.
-
Did I miss the celebration regarding Buggy's invitation to be a Shichibukai?

Yeah, people where pretty much certain when the chapter came out…but after the chapter 594 gorousei talk, when they speak like they still need to fill three seats of the Shichibukai, we have mixed fellings....
-
With Oda jumping around in time like he is that doesn't phase me.

With Oda jumping around in time like he is that doesn't phase me.
Yeah, I guess…but the biggest problem is that no one has an alternative to that... If it isn't an Shichibukai invitation....what could it possibly be?....
-

Since they are separated by chapters, it could easily be a flashforward to throw us off a little bit. It helps that it was a cliffhanger.
In the same way most people were sure that was the purpose of the messenger bat in 593, most people were sure the discussion between the Five Elder Stars in 594 disproved the idea. Like chpollastrini said though, there are few (if any?) alternate theories for that messenger bat. I'm still banking on Buggy becoming a Warlord myself for a few reasons I already listed somewhere, but also because Buggy will eventually become the Pirate King, and Buggy the Warlord would be a fitting step in that right direction.

Classic fan-based speculation at its finest!

Sacrilege. Buggy a warlord does not fit Oda's portrayal of the clown. He will always be comic relief and will continue to entertain us with his epic failures. This is and shall remain his only role :ninja:

I thought the shichibukai theory was good in 593, but Oda wasn't jumping around in time. Both Buggy's and the Gorusei's appearances came right after Luffy's stunt. If they just said "we don't have the seats filled yet," that could still work, but they specifically said that they're planning on waiting a while for replacements.

Hahaha That looks like Bentham with a Robin disguise.

but to fail harder he has first to gain higher position who everyone expects something big from him^^
also how he stumbled into that position is sure a good way to keep him constant in the series.
achieving everything with kind of nothing. -

He is the One piece's Mr.Satan so of course he's going to be granted more than he actually deserves, that's part of the gag.

Sometime ago, people where arguing about the Vivre cards, and how it was strange for Ace to keep his even after being arrested and "boiled" at Impel Down…...The discussion was about Vivre cards pointing to the owner or to the bigger parts and all that....
One thing I thought just now, was Ace's Vivre card shown moving after Luffy learns he was going to be executed?....Because if I recall correctly, it was used only as a mean to see Ace's life, which wouldn't need the bigger part near Ace....
Anyone can check this?...or confirm for me?
-
Both Buggy's and the Gorusei's appearances came right after Luffy's stunt.
By how many hours specifically was that?
Yeah hey thanks for bringing up the Vivre Card thing because I have a question.
I previously thought the card pointed towards the individual from whom the card was made.
And that made perfect sense.
But then Rayleigh says he passed his off to Shackey? What the hell? Not only does that make the thing with Ace odd (although he could have easily always carried it hidden in one of his beads) that also creates a huge problem of to whom the card points to.
Think about it. If you're tearing off bits of the paper, where the hell do they know where to point to?
If someone could explain this to my simple mind I'd be grateful.
