Oh thats right god forbid an Author of an IP would dare to liase and contribute to an animation based on their work. Because obviously that is sacrilidge and would completely nulify their work to date and would have people picketting their household and sacrificing their first born child to teach them a lesson.
Oh hey, sorry this post isn't visible either. I'm sure you have something really great in it, but it's just not picking up around here.
I think you should try broadcasting on this channel and we might be able to hear your thoughts.Really sorry about this, I'll see if tech support can look into it.

@robbybedfart:
I would sig this if I didn't already have a very full sig that I like.
I will do what you can not do.
-
the whole counting thing can be anything…
He still have
His crew dadan garb vivi the mermaid chick boa everyone from ID....etc..
his ships. -
Alright, tech support just got back to me.
Turns out you made these fucking horrible posts at some point.
I know the Manga comes first but well the Anime is like the directors cut - Oda can add in what he wants to have to flesh out the series.
Nope if the artist writes it and has it animated it can be considered Cannon, The fact is he is limited by what he can draw week to week and if he is happy for others to animate - write something and he will include it or acknowledge it as cannon then it is cannon.
It is up to Oda to decide what is and what is not cannon and not purists, besides the cover stories it seems are there because he has an on going story to be told but not the time or resources to tell it.He may provide them with sketches and a general layout of what he wants and then approve the end product and utilise it which = cannon - if he does not approve of it and does not acknowledge it even to the point of later writing in the events of what happened alternative to the anime = non cannon.
And, wouldn't know you know it the forums database just pretty much broke right there on the spot.
I'm going to have to suggest you do some reading up on what the state of how basically anything at all in the japanese comics to animation industry works, and to immediatly stop treating cheap adaptations of the real material like better or even remarkable. We can do this, we can make you not disturbingly ass backwards in your comprehension of canon and adaptations, we can get your posts working again.
-
Just thought of this. Luffy wanted 10 people from the 1st chapter. The 10 fingers could represent his crew, and the other two fingers are for those other crewmates that he still wants on his ship.
Hopefully this is new spectulation and not a stolen thought from somebody. -
Or Luffy could have simply relaxed his hands after counting. Or Oda made an oversight. Either way, it wouldn't make sense for the purposes of that scene if he was counting people who hadn't joined the crew and weren't vanished by Kuma.
-
Such a funny, endearingly Luffy thing to do to actually physically count his blessings when somone told him to, lol. No wonder Jinbei gave him that WTF look.
-
Ah, such a beautiful chapter, especially the gravestones, Luffy's epiphany, and Dadan's anger to Garp. The cover is nice too (Mihawk, does it say "TAKOYAKI" on your shirt? Also, that octopus is a cannibal).
Finally, we get to see the other Strawhats in the main story again. It feels like such a long time… and, Oda, thank you for giving Jimbei that speech. I was hoping all this time for someone to tell Luffy that.
Ah, about the counting thing, could we just stick with "there are too many important people/things to count, so he stopped counting and stuck with those 8"? Or, that he continued on his toes too. Whichever.
Now, I'm hoping that within these chapters before the reunion that something fun will happen between Luffy and Hancock. (If she does have the gall to propose to him, I doubt he'd quietly comply...) Hm, someone should make a fan comic about that.
No, Luffy, you should do it like Ace's greeting. With glaring.
-
Luffy-kun held up 10 fingers but he only has 8 nakama!!!!
10-8 =2 so 2 x 10 x 8 = 160
160 is a number that can be divided by (10+8) to get 8 and 8/9
and that rounds up to 9 so luffy is the 9th crewmate
9
9
9999

It is a shame that people like yourself seem to climb up an ivory tower of their own construction and denounce all other tower climbers to be wrong compared to yourself.
It is a shame that you are unable to at least with face value accept someone has an opinion that differs from yours - I guess if you act like this in all aspects of your life you must be a terrible dissapointment to not only your parents but friends and aquaintences too. -

I was trying to figure that out too, but my guess would be that it says TAKANOME (his nickname).

Luffy doesn't count using his thumbs. Mystery solved.
I remember… I do that to!

鷹の目 = taka no me = Hawk-eyes. It's just a romanization of it. (if that's what it actually says)

The anime does not influence the manga in any shape or form. The anime does not have anything relevant in it as it pertains to the manga which is canon unlike the anime. It does not give hints or foreshadow things that will happen in the manga. This isn't just the case for One Piece but all mangas that have anime.
I'm guessing you probably thought from watching the anime that FMA would end up having the end plot be some body swapping alchemist that wants to live forever or that Edward ends up in parallel world or that Sloth was gonna be a muscle bound, apathetic, lazy guy creating a transmutation circle under the city.

You think a jump artist with a young family is also manning the helm of a major prime time show.
This isn't me in an Ivory Tower, it's you in a cesspool.
It is a shame that you are unable to at least with face value accept someone has an opinion that differs from yours
Whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. Whoa.
Alright now. I always laugh at this retarded argument.
But usually, usually, it's actually a matter of opinion being discussed, a bad opinion maybe, but an opinion nonetheless.
You're saying that Oda is secretly really involved in the anime and considers it a final cut that really gets his vision across.
This is a truth claim that is completely wrong.
This isn't you're opinion you dingus, it's a factually incorrect random ass assumption.

@Fire Fist:
Urrrggh…..
You've been around here as long as I have, so you know better than to stay stuff like this. This irks me. Vivi and Carue, despite not being active members of the Crew, were a part of the Strawhats and are featured in EVERY montage of the Crew with animals that Oda has drawn since. Saying they're not Crewmates is like saying Ace was no longer a Shirohige Pirate for taking off after Teach... and that's just stupid.
I don't see Vivi or Carue in the crew spread, maybe they're behind the giant crying Luffy? Or maybe it's simply they're not Straw Hat Pirates. Get over it, Vivi is no longer a pirate, she's a princess. She turned down being a Straw Hat for her people.
I like Vivi, unlike most people on this forum, but I am not blind enough to call her a Straw Hat, cause she's not. Also, no, she has not been in every series of cover pages. Furthermore, now EVERYONE is showing up in the cover pages. Is Sadi-chan and Mihawk Straw Hats? I guess they have to be, they're on the cover page.
EDIT: Ah, this ground has been covered.

Oda: Know what my comic needs? Stupid pacing, korean sweatshop animation here and there, washed out colors, other people drawing it with questionable talent, and stories about goats thrown in. This is it, this is what I really wanted to do with the comic, this is real.

Nope did not watch FMA
Oda has influenced the Anime - the precident has been set - it was specifically with early references to Silvers Rayleigh in one of the flashbacks.
The cover stories based on where are the crew now is something he could very well have given them some key information - like the reference of how much time it would take Nami to get to the SA you know something that could be done in a 5 min phone call.Anyways - enough de-railing from me continue to argue my opinion or disagree with it if you must it's your time to spend.
Back ontopic it is an incredible arc that seems to be coming to a close now - WB and Ace's memorial look incredible and something I would actually like to see coloured.
-
This chapter just confirmed that Jinbei will be the one joining the SH crew.
-
This chapter just confirmed that Jinbei will NOT be the one joining the SH crew.
Fixed.
Someone stronger than Luffy on the crew? Keep dreaming. -

What reference(s)?

So you have no proof other than what your speculating with nothing supporting it. Oda could've also NOT told them anything about the cover stories and Toei took it upon themselves to add filler since anime is a business and they needed more eps.
The anime does NOT have any influence or indication of what goes on in the actual story.

On Rayleigh he simply told them he wasn't the captain. On the only other thing you could say "Oda influenced filler" on with Daddy Masterson: have you seen what Oda wanted him to look like? Way off from the anime. And finally: one of the other animated cover stories contained a screw up from Toei: Coby crossed REverse Mountain, when we know for a canon fact that Marine ships have sea stone lining to cross the Calm Belt. Stop being a twat and acting like the anime being canon is a matter of opinion; it isn't, you're just being a dumbass.

Have you even fucking read the manga?? Jesus christ.

There's your precedent. Oh wait, that is not a tv show episode??? this can't have come first>>???The cover stories based on where are the crew now is something he could very well have given them some key information - like the reference of how much time it would take Nami to get to the SA you know something that could be done in a 5 min phone call.
Oh so you're backtraking from "DiRETORS CUT REEL VERSION" to "Hey Toei, don't do this or that cuz you'll end up in a plot hole with some shit im gonna do later."
Anyways - enough de-railing from me continue to argue my opinion or disagree with it if you must it's your time to spend.
It's like you literally have no idea what "opinion" means.
If a dude walked up to you and told you Mexico didn't exist would that be an opinion?Back ontopic it is an incredible arc that seems to be coming to a close now - WB and Ace's memorial look incredible and something I would actually like to see coloured.
And drawn out with reaction shots and repeated frames. We know.
-
Guys Chopper can eat 3 rumbleballs under an hour witout problems!
Zoro can cut steel in east blue!
Ace left them in the middle of the desert!
Some random long nails dude acompanied them climbing reverse mountain!
-
Fixed.
Someone stronger than Luffy on the crew? Keep dreaming.Jinbei is stronger than Luffy right now [Like Jinbei said].
Ace told Jinbei to take care of Luffy in the flashback he will be the new crewmate. -
The anime is the directors cut as long as by "directors cut" we mean like Apocalypse Now Redux compared to Apocalypse Now.
Because shattering a increasingly insane deeply darkly symbolic film with a bunch of french people eating dinner and arguing is what improvement is all about.
-
@Steven:
I was trying to figure that out too, but my guess would be that it says TAKANOME (his nickname).
Actually, I checked it again. There seems to be a "KI" at the end, but either way works.
-
Well, after this chapter everything is clear. Luffy is going to SA and Rayleigh will teach him how to use haki, while they're waiting rest of the crew.:ninja:
-

You do know that Rayleigh was in a flashback in the manga, yeah? How can there be a precedent set, if it was in the original reference material to begin with. And even then, they fucked that up by giving him black hair when, even in the manga, it was still a lighter color (it could be blonde like in that Ep. 0 animation, or silver maybe)…
EDIT: Jerk beat me to it, for obvious reasons... <.<;
-
Has nobody mentioned the fact that Luffy have more then 10 important things? I read that panel as Luffy counting up and visually see how much he still had to fight for.
-
Jinbei is stronger than Luffy right now [Like Jinbei said].
Ace told Jinbei to take care of Luffy in the flashback he will be the new crewmate.Nah. He'll go with them to Fishmen Island, which will be in chaos. With the SHs help Jinbei will restore order, and stay there to protect FI.
Honestly, out of already introduced characters Perona has the best chance of joining. Simply because she has nothing binding her to one place, unlike Hancock, and Jinbei (in the theory I'm tagging along with).
I still think that they'll meet some fishman who hates humans and yadda yadda you know the rest.
-
Great chapter!!! I knew Oda would do something like this. He always does something that seems so simple, but nobody ever expects it before-hand. He made the crew comfort Luffy without acually being there. Everyone thought that the crew would come and comfort Luffy. I think it would be akward if they saw him like that, he's their captain… They did comfort him, but Oda avoided the akwardness of them seeing him, and it fit so well.
Not to mention Dadan, Garp, and Makino. AWESOME!!!
-

Perona is however a terribly unlikable bit character who brings nothing to the crew and has zero importance in any narrative sense.
So actually she's billions of miles away from even Hancock in possibly joining the crew.
Or more accuratly said, she has no chance at joining the crew.
-
great chapter, now we know why the real reason why ace had to die.
he had no worries anymore about his little brother. this chapter strengthen more meaning to the bonds of luffy and his cremates even much deeper -
Hey, Mihawk is on the cover image.
I wonder if Oda did that on purpose as his way of saying "Get Well Soon" to his Anime VA.
-

UGH This has been bothering me for a while. . .
WHY hasnt ANYONE noticed that CHOPPER and ZORO FOUND EACH OTHER LIKE 20 CHAPTERS AGO?!?!?! FFS!

What? Chopper and Zoro never found each other. What are you talking about?
-
Absolutely loved this chapter. I seem to enjoy the most the chapters directly following large events that show what's happened to the world. We get a slight glimpse of the New World, with Whitebeard's awesome grave with Ace's right next to it. And Luffy comes back to himself and it looks like we'll get the crew back together soon .
