After listening to Colleen on the podcast I finally bit the bullet and ordered the three outstanding dvd sets I didn't already own, and pre-ordered the next two.
Now I just need to find the time to watch them..

Off topic, but did anyone else hear about unlimited cruise sp for the 3DS?
My god. I'm so excited. I hope to hell its region free.

Yes, I have heard about it, but it has nothing to do with Funimation. At least for now….

i doubt that funimation is even looking at games for the series,
One Piece still has a lot of ground to break through before it can get that, we still only have one game for it over here, not counting the ones from 4kids.
also isn't supposed to cover the WB arc, or others as well? not sure
The enemies go up to Sabaody.
There is Whitebeard, but he doesn't have his powers.

Does it have to be on the 3DS or will a regular DS play it?

3DS only. There's no way the regular DS could run it.
I wonder how far FUNimation is in dubbing One Piece. I can't wait for the boxsets after Skypiea!

Question of the decade, ladies and gentlemen.
It doesn't matter where they are in the dubbing. It ain't gonna come out quicker.
There are times like this that I wish companies like Funimation (or the video game industry etc) could be more transparent about sales figures/expectations and so forth (much like the movie industry where you can see a clear budget versus box office gross).
It is agonizing having absolutely no clue as to the fate of the series and if they intend to do anything further post-Skypeia. I've done my part (purchased all the DVDs and Unlimited Adventure, encouraged others to do the same), but I already went through this song and dance with another Funimation acquisition (Big Windup) only to have the fact that they weren't going to license the second season because of poor sales (via an actor unofficially commenting on a podcast) conveyed to me much later by proxy.
It would just be nice, as an informed and loyal customer, to not be on edge about their intentions at this point. I'm sure there are a lot of factors that effect their ability to fully disclose detailed business info, but some kind of general word that it is either a dire or golden situation would do a lot to grease the ol' wallet going forward.

nothing much we can do, all we have to do is have faith. yeah i know the response was lame, but that's all we can do, we have done our part buy purchasing the dvd's, hopefully every other fan is doing the same.
im just glad to have been given a chance at all to own such a wonderful series

When did following a English version of a series become a religion.
When did following a English version of a series become a religion.
When the makers are passionate fans and they deliver quality stuff?
Seriously though I think 'religion' is over-dramatising, you should be used to this. We're fans, this is what we do.
Look, people, they haven't even finished releasing the third season, why worry now?
If they released news of cancellation, it would hurt their One Piece sales. Just another valid point worth bringing up… We'll see though. Its unlikely that it'll be canceled.
Keep in mind, picking it up only to knock it one arc ahead of 4kids seems like a waste.
Are we still freaking out over a stupid rumor? Grow up people! Last I checked there's no signs of Funimation dropping the license.
aaahhhcahhahem
shut up

My Monster boxed set is whispering warnings to me.

and who is worrying?

again who is worrying here, i never thought reassuring a fellow fan of the series was doing so
on a side note, how the heck can i get my sig to show up, its only in url form
facepalm . jpg
Look, if Funimation had already spurned a license because of poor sales, then the notion that it might happen again isn't exactly childish. It's not exactly anything that they can control.
That's not to say that it is in any danger at all, but still. I have no idea what the sales are even like for One Piece, although if they stretch across a good few regions (I get mine off ebAy, from a local seller who imports them), that must be a good sign.
Therefore, nobody's panicking as far as I can see… just curious, and at most, concerned. There's no need for the facepalm/childish treatment, so cut it out. Right?
Interesting news, Al Kahn has quit 4kids!

Listen to your own words.
Apparently the 3DS is region locked. We should tell Namco bandai on facebook to bring the one piece 3rd game over to the U.S.
@Yuugi's:

I'm not asking for rushing in the least. I'm perfectly happy with the rate FUNimation is releasing One Piece, any faster and it risks lessening the quality of the release.
I was just curious as too how far they are, metaphorically speaking.

Definitely, we should at least try…
So no one still got the newest OP dvd yet?
@LUFFY#1:

No.
I've had it pre-ordered, and still nothing. It's still too early.
There's a new one out?
Season 3 Part 4. Jan 25.
Covering to OP 13?
It's the same material that we've had access to. It ends right when the crew is floating down from Skypiea. Basically, at the end of the Skypiea Arc.
So, no. No Ending 13. That would be in the next set, which was pushed back to April.
For anyone interested in 16:9 vs 4:3 stuff, just want to note that the French TV broadcast was in 4:3 up to episode 224. Episode 225 and on were 16:9. It's likely that FUNimation's DVD releases will be the same way.
(They were broadcast on a 16:9 stream with pillarboxes for the earlier episodes, so it's obviously not the TV channel choosing to crop it).

Just wondering, does the French version have the same masters as the Funimation version on the earlier episodes? That would give us a better confirmation.
I don't quite understand what you mean by that…
I don't quite understand what you mean by that…
Toei provides original untranslated "Master" episode files to licensees. Not every licensee gets the same Masters from Toei.
Oh. Right, that makes sense. Still, considering that the French licensor (Toei Europe) are the only other licensor in the west other than FUNimation who are releasing the series on DVD, and considering that their DVD releases are extremely close to FUNimation's in terms of timing and episode count, as well as also being in a similar situation to FUNimation's where they're the second attempt at a One Piece dub after a failed one, it seems likely that they'd get the same masters as FUNimation. Of course, it isn't an outright certainty, but I doubt we'll get actual confirmation of anything until either FUNimation themselves say something or the actual sets are out.
Well sadly France seems to be the only country in europe to have gotten the 16:9 Masters, every other country I know has gotten the 4:3 Masters (Italy is currently on episode 452)
Huh? The German episodes are 16:9 I think. Just not the movies.
No, the German episodes are in 4:3. Same with the Catalán episodes which are up to Sabãody already…
Huh? The German episodes are 16:9 I think. Just not the movies.
Only Movie 1 will be 4:3 Letterboxed, Movie 2 to 10 will be released in propper 16:9.
I found this article that may make people who fear the dropping of One Piece feel a little better. It talks about the "Dream Team" Block (set to mirror Japan's "Dream 9" block), in which an episode of DBZ (Not Kai) will be put up at 7:30 CST, and then followed directly by a new episode of One Piece at 8:00 CST. In the article, Gen Fukunaga (CEO of Funimation) said this:
Dragon Ball Z and One Piece are the crown jewels of our digital content strategy and we are proud of the diverse selection of series that entertains established fans and new ones as well.
Source:http://blog.funimation.com/2011/01/dragon-ball-z-streaming-episodes/
So there. Gen Fukunaga referred to One Piece as one of their "Crown Jewels…". That should definitely put some people at ease, no?
Well he said crown jewel for their digital strategy. It's possible the simulcast and streaming will continue while the DVDs and dub don't.
It's one of their best products and they'd stop the dub and DVDs because…? Seriously, that makes no sense. Of course the dub isn't going to stop.
So I hear there is this thing called the Dream Team at FUNimation.
I don't believe it.
Where did you find that ad? That is amazing!
holy guacomole where'd you'd find that ad?!

Word's can not express how awesome this is. Good job Funi for promoting One Piece through this.
Now all they need are those bumpers for the Dream 9 block.
