I just know that I want to see the crew together again (Color covers, fillers, videogames, and old chapters don't count)

It's almost 2 years already, and if Oda starts the cover stories of the strawhats again, that means 16 chapters more.

The timeskip would work better if they are appart, and the only one with a true (and manga proved) way back is Sanji and the gay marine boat.

What I would like the best is a full Luffyless volume a chapter-a-strawhat, and the 9th to go back to Raileigh and Sunny.

Mmm Timeskip, I voted already a few months and I stand by my choise. Oda will make it work, the plot needs to go back to it's characters rather than the action of the WAR.

It just seems dumb to be emphasizing in your "filler" how this may take years to return when you have no idea how long it may take. (a few days, a week, month, years). Why did they feel the need to in both situations to emphasize the years? unless they were given some info from oda that it will be years.

if i was in charge of anime and had no direction at all from oda, i would at all costs avoid bringing up any sort of answer to the "how long till they get back" I woudl have done like Franky, and Sanji and have worked around having the question be brought up or adressed. But they did, and in both situations it was constant, and that constant was a long time.

They coudl have easily ignored it and not brought it up and have it lead to a potential plot hole. So why woudl Toe risk this when its easy as hell to omit two little lines about time.

I know people are pretty pissed about the anime being canon or not.

It appears that the VA cast are pretty good friends with Oda (Naturally). I am persuaded they might know some stuff that is going to happen.

Futhermore, Oda has already told the anime team once not to call Rayleigh captain during ther Buggy flashback.

Besides, what is happening in the can justify why the straw hats took so much time to come back.

That may be partly a way to defeat them, but I think largely brute force is needed. We saw the New World pirates using brute force to take them down.

Beyond all of these attacks they made, the Pacifista still continued to rampage against them. They do have weaknesses that can be exploited, but they cannot be taken down so easily. We saw how quickly it went into "berserk" mode. As if it was computing the minimal damage it took and went on the offensive to a higher degree. But in the future, do you really see Usopp being so weak that he wouldn't be able to take on a Pacifista without looking for these type of weaknesses? I think he should be able to easily. I expect as much from his father, why not Usopp in the future? The same goes for Robin and Nami.

Battles in OP are not based only on "power levels".

This is true, but being that the Pacifista arguably are all of the same strength, it's a decent medium in which we can gauge the strength of the SH's in the future. One is powerful enough to exhaust the SH crew. If we witness in the future that Luffy can take on one Pacifista without needing the help of his crew yet be exhausted, then we can state that he has improved. If he can destroy one with a few punches then we can say he has improved greatly. It's a pretty good benchmark for their strength I'd say.

My only worry is that when the SH crew re-unite, they will defeat them with ease. While I don't think it would be absolutely ridiculous if it were to happen, I'd probably be a bit disappointed. But again, this all depends on how long a time-skip will last. If they are going to reunite after a year's time, then I may not find it at all surprising for them to defeat a Pacifista with relative ease, individually that is.

Pacifista is still in development by Vegapunk, so the weaknesses that we've seen so far could be reinforced by him. Moreover, since Pacifistas are human based, they could even possess DF abilities like Kuma does. Most importantly, the mass production of Pacifistas that we've seen in the war is probably the reason that makes them so deadly.

I would be disappointed if they aren't developed further and if they aren't used massively as we've seen in the war at least. Still, the idea of implementing DFs into these things would make the pirates cry.

The anime isn't cannon and if you're really going to pull that card then Nami could get a typhoon and Chopper could get an adult bird. Basically, the time frames are nonexistent (they left the possibilities open for freaking anything; probably because they don't know how long it'll be).

Really. I'm not anti-time skip, but I don't think it would be done. Just doesn't seem like the right sort of thing. Now, time skip of a few weeks, or a month or two, sure. Go ahead. But Timeskip of more than 3 months? I don't understand why it would be done. I mean, we have Nami and presumably Robin on their way back already. Are they just gonna chill on the Sunny while the rest of the crew catches up FOR TEN MONTHS? That just doesn't make sense. We could always argue that "oh, it TAKES A WHILE for them to get there, longer than anyone else." but I don't see Oda doing a timeskip. It doesn't seem to fit him. I'm not opposed to timeskips, but I just don't see it happening. =/

Robin is with the Revolutionary Army, but do you really think they are going to take her to SA? They are at war constantly, so her going back is quite unlikely. Not to mention that there's a bigger reason for her being with them that Oda probably hasn't revealed yet.

The problem with this whole One Piece time skip fiasco is that it may not be the only one in the immediate future. In order for Luffy to successfully conquer the Grand Line and become his long awaited dream of Pirate King, he would have to surpass power levels which we as of right now consider incredible and some of the absolute highest in the OP world. In this manga, even though it does seem credible for one to achieve a regarded level of power over the course of a few months (ex. Luffy, Zoro, Coby), one can not possibly achieve power such as Sentomaru (non-DF character) within a few MORE months. Unless Oda decides to pull a hyperbolic time chamber thing like in his fave manga DBZ, it doesnt seem plausible for him to become all that much more powerful. Perhaps this long awaited return thing stated in the anime just recently with Nami and Chopper could have been on purpose to show exactly just how much time this timeskip may take.
Roger completed his journey thru the GL in about 2-3years if i recall correctly, but the guy was considered to be even with WB in his prime. as any1 can see Luffy is nowhere NEAR WBs level, or even what Ace was. Besides Luffy needs to come up with a way to deal with the goddam logias. All 3 admirals have broken ass DFs that can freeze tsunamis, blow up entire mangroves and create meteor rains. To even hope to come close to this kind of power Luffys needs a long time to come up with a new technique. who knows, maybe Luffy has GameShark like BB n can eat another fruit in the future. The time chamber thing seems like a definite possibility
The way my theory on how this goes it this. The crew is all about to undergo some upgrades as well right? In that case, maybe they will get their new powers, meet up, move on, and somehow make it into a time-defying thing where they all develop themselves. Lots to happen until this point, most importantly the possible addition of Hancock and Jimbei, fishman island, the rest of the crews misadventures, the effects of the war on the world, etc… but thats the theory

The time skip doesn't have to be like the one in Naruto, that we've barely seen anything that happened during those three years.

Oda could show us the crew coming back one after another while skiping some time in between, like: Chopper makes his way back to Shabondy on a giant bird, and after three weeks or so Ussop comes back as well. And while we're seeing them coming back, we see Luffy training in a few panels, and maybe even events occuring in the world in the meanwhile.

u seem to forget dragon runs the revolt and is luffys father. thus assigning one ship to reunite his sons crew seems more than possivle since he went and saw his son off in louge town

I think it would be incredibly difficult to believe the crew members could someone simultaneously reach Rayleigh in just a couple of days. At the same time, I find it difficult to believe there will be a break longer than a month - especially considering the personalities of the crew, most notably Luffy. I think a time skip of a couple weeks to a month will be best.

This has probably been said before, but i doubt there's going to be any meaningful timeskip due simply to the impracticality of implementing one at this point in the story. As soon as the straw hats reunite, they're primed to move on with the main story and head to Fishman Island. You know that's not going to get time skipped over. So that only leaves the reuniting of the crew to be skipped over. But how long would that take? Nami already seems to be on her way back to Sanbondy so the others can't be THAT far behind, and the only SHs that were launched out of the GL have a convenient way to get back relatively fast (chopper and the birds, Robin and the revo's). It might take them, what, a mouth to get back? Maybe two? It's already been around 3 weeks since Kuma launched them away, and there's probably another "two weeks later" at the end of the flashback coming up in order for Luffy to completely heal. That's a lot of time. A LOT of traveling could get done in that time by One Piece standards.

So that leaves what, a time skip of a couple of months, maybe less, while the crew reunites? Even if that does happen, that's not much of a timeskip at all. Nothing substantial about it, and it's nothing that hasn't pretty much happened already a few times.

Is it really that big of a difference though? I mean how far is Oda into the One Piece story? Didn't he say he's around halfway through (based on interview in 2009 where he said the they reached the climax of middle stage by vol55) right now? Its definitely not near the end. Also I dont recall Oda saying that it was only a story about when Luffy is 15 or 17 or whatever age. So why cant it be the end of one chapter and beginning of another one?

You can't simply dismiss a 10 year time skip by saying it's different, or because it happened right at the beginning. One could argue that the story could be so much more awesome if there was no 10 year time skip and we started out as Luffy as a kid. That way we could have an even more epic story. Imagine if the Sabo/Ace/Luffy childhood flashback happened at the beginning of One Piece. Would that make sense?

If the argument is that Oda has never done a timeskip One Piece before, or it doesn't fit. I think the argument needs to be rethought. Although you can point to other series a mid-story timeskip occurs and say that it's bad, doesn't really reflect on how Oda's performance will be if one occurs. Unless one can point to another Oda work where a timeskip occurred and say "hey look at this Oda does crappy work when it comes to time skips". Then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The reason why I don't expect (or wouldn't like) a large time skip is because One Piece is a story where we are practically travelling together with Luffy on his adventures as a pirate.

Somehow skipping some large chunk of time (even if it is just for training) wouldn't really feel right because with a character like Luffy we'd always be asking ourselves if he didn't get into another adventure even while training.

A couple of weeks or month's for recovery and setting a couple of aftermath's of the war would be ok. But a large chunk of time doesn't seem fitting since the time wherethat big things in the OP world happen seems to be right now. I don't see Luffy missing out on that, while Teach and the rookies go to mess around in the New World.

That's more realistic than luffy trainin or somethin and then feeling better about it. Everyone knows it wasn't Luffy's fault besides him, whether he does some stupid training arc before or not the thing that will make him go back to normal is the realization that it aint his fault. Umm, did you even read the flashback at all? He trained for 10 years, all in an effort to become stronger because he lost a brother. Remind you of something in the present?
