in the OP universe a defeat is like you killed your opponent..finishing him means destroy his dreams and ideas..
and oda said once, when you destroy someones dreams you damage him more tha actually killing him.
Chapter 563 "One Man, One Heart" Discussion
-
-
Roger killing Squardo"s crew means Squardo"s crew is dead. Roger is a son of a b!atch for godsake ! accept it !
-
Pirates kill other pirates, it's just how it is, imagine how many countless pirates WB has killed.
-
Whitebeard never killed pirates, he's a good guy.
Roger was a crazy sick pirate.
-
Yep. Many pirates lose to Roger and Whitebeard during their time. If not killed, many were beat up and captured by marines. See how many prisoner's in Impel Down who want's to take their revenge and kill Whitebeard.
-
Pirates kill other pirates, it's just how it is, imagine how many countless pirates WB has killed.
To quote Sam from "Clarissa":
"Nah. We're friendly pirates! We're just singing 'Johoho!'."
-
Great chapter after all. Whitebeard was awesome.
We all know what happens in future chapters.
Whitebeard takes down Kizaru and Akainu, after that he's ready for dying. He can see how Luffy get his brother free. Ace see how WB close his eyes.. ACE GOES FUCKING CRAZY. Mental breakdown. He start killing marines blindly. :ninja: -

The way you said or just entering that blanked out state of mind where you're in another world.
I guess that depends on if there's an escape route right away or not.
-
I know it´s just a wish but what if Oda´s going to surprise us all again and Shirohige survives? I would love it.
-
First time I was disappointed in a chapter in this war. Last chapter I said I was just hoping Oda wasn't going down the route of "big daddy forgiving everything with a hug" and that is just what happened.
Ah well, with so many breaks, atleast Legend of the Seeker started again, I can watch that..
-
I don't really count it as a absolute killing. If Buu wasn't killed by goku, he would've died without even a chance of a rebirth, because he was a bad guy. So for me, it isn't really a 100% killing, if you know what i mean.
"He was just killed in the procedure of making him good", if that sounds better… ^^
It's also called lying to yourself. Cut the bullshit, Goku plain and simple killed him.
@wintergt:First time I was disappointed in a chapter in this war. Last chapter I said I was just hoping Oda wasn't going down the route of "big daddy forgiving everything with a hug" and that is just what happened.
So, what did you expect? That Whitebeard is going ro rip him apart? It's was the only logical solution for the whole Squadro affair, everything besides Whitebeard not killing him would be out of character. That's just the way Whitebeard is, If you don't like how Whitebeard handled the situation, then you simply dislike Whitebeard (which I have absolutely no problem with, I just thought the complain was silly to begin with).
-
The last chapter showed the true nature of Shirohige. And it was great. The strongest Yonkou has such a big heart. Great, just great!
-

We all knew it was coming, that is the way Whitebeard's character has been portrayed.

No point trying to explain it to him. Wintergt is just an idiot and the troll of apforums.net

Expressing a dislike in a chapter doesn't make the member an idiot.

did anybody realize that even if buggy gets smashed in his current ice form, he wont die because of his chopchop fruit? :o
he can withstand aokiji's power :O
-
^^^ there must be some limits 2 his chop chop ability. whenever he is chopped its either horizontal or vertical chops. maybe if his cross section chops cut apart vertically he will be sorely wounded or maybe die x.x (maybe im thinking 2 much)
-

It's fits Whitebeard's character fine imo. Plus him being a big forgiving daddy explains why his crew/sons loves and is so loyal to him.

how man?
thats makes no sence…if buggy is froze, and someone breaks him then thats it,he cant use his chop chop power if his frozen and broken to bits...
just cos buggy held on his own vs mihawk cos of his ability dosent mean vs logia users it will be the same.
-
Epic fail on Oda's part.
Epic fanboy failure.
WSJ is a pre publication book. It'll be corrected by the volume release. -
i just wanna say… one piece is fucking incredible right now

i think when some1 brakes him right now he will split in thousands of small pieces and his DF-ability isn`t able to split him up in so many tiny pieces…so it would most likely his death..
we had this before, cause if he could split himself in so many tiny pieces he could improve more and more and he would be in th end at an atomic-split level...
undefeatable!!! -
I don't know where I read this (might have just been another fan's opinion), but Buggy said something like "it gets hard to control soo many seperate body parts". So theoretically it is possible, but he can't do it
-
I still can't shake this feeling in the back of my head that WB won't die on-screen and during this war.
Assuming WB is going into this ready to die and that's what Oda has been setting him up for, if that comes to pass, I might actually stop reading depending on how it's handled.

LOL I have to laugh evertyime when someone says that Sasuke Shippuden … I mean Naruto is a good manga... :ninja:
Naruto should ended in part 1 in a good way. Part 2 sucks balls with all this plot holes and Uchiha cock-sucking
-
I don't mind. Why like WB? I didn't have anything against him until it was revealed that he's been aiming to make Ace the pirate king this whole time without even telling him. Surprise-party at Raftel? "Here Ace, you take it." :getlost: I've just got the feeling that there is some kind of monkey business going on in that wrinkled old head of his.
But oh well… As I said, I didn't expect anyone to agree with me.
IDK, but I guess it was just a marine propaganda to tell the world that WB wanted Ace to become the pirate king so the Squardo affair will work well.
-

I don't think it's a limitation to his DF, but a problem for the brain to consciously control each part of the body: imagine trying to use your right hand to write some text with a pen, and while you do that, use your left hand to beat egg whites (Private localized joke: Sarkozy would be able to do that, using his 6 brains)

Because I dislike one chapter in the war, I'm suddenly a troll.? What a bunch of elitists have you guys become. We've already seen the whole "big jesus forgives his stray sons", to throw it in our face again was too much. Thats was my gripe with this chapter. And this has nothing to do with trolling unless you're such a hardcore fanboy that any rational thought goes straight out the window, just because Oda wrote it. I said this before it happened and it came true.
Alteast I hope we're done with showing how great whitebeard is, now that he's gonna kick some butt. Probably BB is gonna show up and take him down. It's heartfelt- and a friggin long time coming too!
-
I like this chapter because of WB lines: "You can't be the most powerful man forever. There is only one heart for every man" or "I'm only one man with one heart!"
and "If you are pirates, choose for yourself what to believe!". The last two pages was epic.
Cnett translation:Whitebeard: (Weak, you call me…? Harsh words indeed... // Yet spare me your grievances, crocodile boy...!! For you and I both... are each but one man, with one heart. // They may call us demons, they may call us monsters... but neither one of us can remain the strongest forever......!!! // Surely if I can give a future to one young life, I have the right to leave the stage proud, do I not......?!)
Ace: Old man...
Whitebeard: All who wish to stand by my side... // ...throw your lives to the wind and follow me!!!
Pirates: YEAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! // ONWARD~~~~~~~~~!!!!
Sengoku: PREPARE YOURSELVES!!! // THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN... IS ABOUT TO STRIKE!!!! -

I agree, WB doing what his character is known for is just coming off as forced, Oda failed this chapter, better luck next one.
-
Everybody knew WB was going to forgive that guy , i mean if WB just kill him then it would be bad for the pirates moral . It's better Wb just take the stab and use it to help his allies moral then kill someone that was lie to and making him self look like some heartless person.
Hell it was only because WB forgive him ,that the NW captains and allies are ready again to give there life for him .
Still i not seeing WB dying until it happens , Oda has not kill any name chars so far until he does i won't believe it's going to happen .

But I knew it was going to happen, therefore it makes it stupid, ODA FAILED COZ I PREDICTED WHAT HIS CHARACTER WAS GOING TO DO BASED ON HIS TENDENCIES ALREADY!!!
-
If Oda doesn't kill WB (Hey guys i don't kill in non flashabcks in my manga….) i will be pissed off to no end. Whatever he does to attenuate that catastrophe it better be good enough to not make me drop reading the manga.
-

I want WB to live just to see how the forum would be. That would be EPIC . I expect allot i not going to read OP anymore post , along with some meltdowns.
After reading Op for so long i think people should expect that oda could find a way for WB to live after this war . If WB dies or live i kept on reading . -

I want crap to happen in order to see how right people will be to be pissed off. This fanbase is so lucky that Oda actually delivers…:ninja:

It simple really Oda has never kill anyone that is a name char. I think people should also have it in there minds that WB could come out of this war alive no matter what happens to him.
Everyone is saying he going to die to change the era etc etc , but don't forget this is OP were talking about.
-
well WB might be healed too anyway
-
lol at all the people who want more death in the manga, there are so many things a lot more interesting to develop.
-

Really? I'm going to be pissed off if neither Ace nor WB die. Just as pissed as I was when Pell lived, and when Viz invented Roguetown. Just to tell you, that's mighty pissed. Somebody's going to be dead by the end of this war. Either WB and Luffy will have to deal with failure, or the big man will finally kick the bucket (going down swinging, no doubt).
-

Do not fret, I detected your poignant and insightful jab.

Now I'm just imagining you watching One Piece, and then Pell shows up, and you're like GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, shaking in a fit of nerd rage right there on your couch.
Whitebeard's dying, just accept it. And you all know if he somehow lives you'll keep reading the damn series no matter what.

Well, it was a little more like, "What the fuck is this shit?" with my shoulders hunched and my hands extended toward the computer/book.
But it seems like you're hoping ol' WB will die too, so why are you getting mad? And I never said I'd stop reading anyway.
-
Quick notice to all the Swedish here: This weeks scanlation is out now. Sorry about the delay. ;)

I know, I know, just messing. I'm not "hoping" he'll die, I'm just saying it has to happen.
And as for the whole "you won't stop reading" thing, I didn't mean you. They were two separate points.
Going a bit further with this idea, let's say Whitebeard does survive in some sort of lame way like Lacueva or Pell. With those two, well, I can understand why it bothered some people. But to me they were pretty boring minor characters and whether they live or die, it has no effect on the story at all. (Debatable but remember, this is my opinion. Yes, Pell's "sacrifice" was rendered worthless, but it's not going to come up again in the story)
So, Whitebeard. He's about 1000x more important to the story than even Pell. If he were to, say, show up later in the background with a bandage, giving a thumbs-up, that should be a deal-breaker. But I bet it wouldn't be, you would all keep reading because there are way more mysteries in the plot that still haven't been addressed. We've endured tons of ridiculous scenarios where someone should have died, but we keep reading because we still want to know what happens next.
TLDR: Even if Whitebeard cheesily survives you will all keep reading because the story (outside of nobody-dies-in-one-piece) is too interesting.

Yeah right, we all keep reading One Piece just cause we wanna know what happens next, because Oda is so bad at what he does that we're just going on momentum, and pretty soon we're going to get fed up of all the bullshit storylines and crap and leave it altogether.
What a fag.
-
The fact is not a one of you will quit the manga no matter how it happens. I think we can all agree that White Beard is being set up for death. But by just some chance that he does live, all of you will eventually pick up the story again when your curiousity peaks. If one has grown to love 10+ years worth of material your not going to put it down completely. Even if you stop reading for 10 years only to come back to it because you herd the story is finished.
I just can't see guys and girls who are on these forums constantly just completely shunning the book because of this one thing. It would happen for a while, but you'd all come crawling back.

Actually, that sort of thing happens a lot. Sometimes people outgrow the fandom; sometimes the fandom goes in a direction someone doesn't like. On rare occasion, a fandom will have one event that bones the fish completely and will piss off someone so thoroughly that it kills all interest in it. I gave up on reading Naruto about three years ago and haven't looked back since.
I'm not sure why other people care so much if people choose to give up the series anyway.
I just can't see guys and girls who are on these forums constantly just completely shunning the book because of this one thing.
I don't think it'd be because of 'just one thing' anyways; it'd probably be due to a number of small things that just are accentuated by one big thing.

When you put it like that, then yeah I see the point. I stoped reading Marvel because everyone kept dying and coming back to life. I was just getting sick of it. So I guess I can understand. I suppose I'm thinking of my own shoes, there has been nothing in the story so far that I just out right hated, and if there was just one thing so far I could deal with it. I suppose this White Beard thing may be the last straw for some of you, which then I can see those fans leaving.
But come on Greg, you seem so hyped for everything that is Strong World or Oda interview related. I can't see you giving up the book. What is it aside from this that you "had it up to here" with?
