I think he uses his devil fruit to do control what the dice will hand on after all he was not born blind he did it to himself so he would know what the numbers on the dice are.
besides he could have easily have captured the thugs that were trying to cheat him after the game if luffy had not shown up so its not like he would have lost his money.

Roger - Strongest guy in the world, struck down by an incurable disease.
Saul - Frozen to death by his own comrade.
Law - Family killed by death squad, mentor killed by his own captain.
Ace - Defeated by Teach, turned into a lava kebab by Sakazuki.
Garp - Unable to capture his greatest foe for years, forced to pick between service and family, forced to watch his adoptive grandson being turned into aforementioned kebab.
Rouge - Lover struck down by incurable disease, died from overcooked childbirth.
Dragon - We know pretty much nothing about him, but I doubt it was lucky circumstances that made him resolve to change the world.
So yeah...I wouldn't say luck is a strong theme across the board.

dragon did both of these they were not luck they were luffy's dad seeing him off and making up not being there for him during his entire childhood since dragon seems to have some type of weather devil fruit which is why its so hard to capture him.

its actually more plot than luck and luffy being the main character gets a lot of plot armor. (go read fairy tail if you want to see characters with plot armor that win with friendship if you want to see what i am talking about)

I woul count Roger's storm and Saul landing on Olvia's islan too. But Law ate so much crap that he probably balanced it out.

Never forget that Law escaping from the Birdcage was almost impossible, but he was lucky enough for X Drake to have been found by the Marines at the exact same time the Doflamingo Family were looking for him, thus tricking them into thinking he had already lost Law for good and undoing the cage. That was fucking lucky. Worthy of a D. Although I agree that Law didn't have to be a D for that flashback to work. I don't know how far Oda planned him being a D, actually. I do have to say that that may be balanced out by the fact that, out of all the Marines he could have walked up to with Rocinante's note, that poor, poor kid just happened to talk to Vergo. Still, it's better that the bad luck came first and then the good luck, rather than the other way around. One could also argue that he was lucky to have met Luffy when he did on Punk Hazard, since otherwise he probably would have gone up against Doflamingo by himself and almost certainly would have died trying.
The great thing about Law's D. reveal is that it's a perfect explanation for all of his interactions with Luffy, from minute one. Like, there are some reveals and aspects of the series that were very obviously added in later and not planned (or at least, not fully fleshed out) from the beginning–Armament Haki being one of them, as I've seen other people argue. Hell, Armament Haki was a big enough case that it actually went through the post-timeskip retcon of suddenly being visible and black where it wasn't before. With Law's D. initial, though, we can only guess when Oda decided to go that route because it fits in so well with stuff we've always seen from him.

I believe Teach knew he was gonna win that fight. Otherwise my guess is that he would've run away. I woudn't be surprised if someday we learn that Teach's D is fake. I'm not saying that I want that to happen, just that I wouldn't be very surprised.

How are there too many D's in the series? Compare to the hundreds of characters, only 9 or so characters have shown to be D and only Law was introduced as D after timeskip.

I much rather have D be a dead clan, who were spread thin after the world war that took place in the Void century. I'm a huge Law fan, and even I wasn't a huge fan of it.

But they are spread thin. There are millions of people in the One Piece world, and we've got 9 Ds revealed, with only 5 alive at this time.

It's a long shot, but what if Usopp's full name was Marshall D. Ussop? He and Teach's noses and hair are both similar, they both have a cowardly streak and also both make allies fairly easily. I think it would be pretty cool and would make sense if Ussop was a D and somehow related to Teach.

Yeah, the D carriers we have are so prominent in the story that it seems like there are a lot of them until you actually count them up. 9 total/5 living named characters (technically 10 total since Law's sister Lamy was named, but since her full name was never stated, she's usually not counted) as Galaxy 9000 said, but even the least prominent of those nine (Rouge and Saul) are still pretty important, and the rest of them are either main characters, major supporting characters, or major enemies. I sometimes forget how few of them there really are, too.
I agree with WAM that I don't think we'll see too many more, but I would like to see another female D carrier, since Rouge is the only one we have so far (excluding the aforementioned Lamy). I also want to see Luffy's mom at some point, so if she's a D carrier too, that would work out great.

I don't think Doffy was rescued, the marines are really this useless?? Plus they said in the news that two of the four ships were sank, not all of them. Old granny Tsuru was there, Sengoku too, I don't think they'll just let Doflamingo escape that way. Looking foward for next chapter.

I don't know, sinking their ships looked like a plan. Besides, I rather think Doflamingo will still play a role with kaidou and the treasure of CDs rather then him locked away forever in ID.
As crazy as Jack looked at first, he sure looked less crazy when we saw that the minks did lie and hide raizou on zou. If he sinked 2 of their 3 ships, I don't think he was doing it just because he likes it.

The newspaper said he's presumed dead, but noted his remains weren't found. It's not like marines just thought he's dead and announced it all around. For all we know the info might have come from some reporter interviewing one of the marines from one of the ships. We don't really know who's responsible for the articles in that newspaper, but considering all the news it spreads out, it's possible it's not completely under the control of WG and marines. For example, that news story with Luffy returning to Marineford to honor the dead. I have a hard time imagining WG giving an OK to print that out, after all the shame Luffy put them through.
Yeah, that's true, the WG do have some control about the news, but not all of it. Well, for all we know Jack is alive, but we haven't seen Sengoku, Tsuru or Doflamingo ever since.
