Hehe, I was thinking that too.
I think I have evidence to push a theory past speculation:
I was watching episodes of One Piece with my little cousin and saw something pretty amazing. In the end of the Loguetown arc, Smoker comments on Dragon's intervention.
He says, "that bastard, what kind of gust was that…22 years ago, gol d roger was executed... and on the same day, that man appears and vanishes like a bolt of lightning... what does that...."
That supports the theory that Gol D Roger is Dragon and that Ace and Luffy are indeed still related.
Can't ever be sure, just a theory!
Pretty creepy with the whole 20 month pregnancy thing, does finding One Piece give a guy super sperm, or is just just a natural Gol D. family trait? Will we learn later Luffy was cooking in the womb for like 50 months?
Sengoku explained it: Rouge was so stubborn to prevent the discovery of Ace's birth that she held him in her womb for 20 months, out of sheer willpower. It's probably a characteristic trait with those of the "Will of D.", to have the innate ability to be so focused on a task to the point of absurdity. Unfortunately for Rouge, it cost her her life, as she did something ridiculously impossible.
As for Luffy, seeing as he was most likely born from a normal woman (which I still wonder, because she must be a saint to put up with him for 17 years of his life), he probably went to 9 months like everyone else.
A friend of mine told me this. Not sure if it has been posted. I guess with this info, we can assume why Shanks was visiting the Island that Luffy lives. He was probably going to see Roger's son.
One of my favorite drawing techniques Oda uses is how he exaggerates the height of some characters to show how powerful they are. The Shichibukai panel makes it clear that they are extremely powerful without even showing them fight. This war is going to be totally epic .
You're quite negative. Do the math, Roger got Rouge pregnant 5 months before his execution, after the crew had already disbanded. There's no guarantee that anyone from his crew knows that Ace is his child. I suspect that Rayleigh and Shanks know, but it's only suspicion and I certainly don't have proof of the fact.
What the heck is negative about not agreeing with what you and a few other droogs have to say?
People like Rayleigh and Shanks sure. But what gamechanger wouldn't know.
People who would matter and not just some drunk bum who pulls some Laughing Man style copycat assassination shit.

Oh, I can be sure.
Don't try to use the anime as evidence of anything.

That never happens in the manga at all so your theory is bollocks.

I said you were negative because you refuse to recognize things as a possibility if you don't like them. You have your view points and that's that from what I can tell. Now that I think about it, negative is the wrong word, so I apologize. You're close-minded.
My example for a gamechanger was Rayleigh, even though I believe that he knows, it's far from a certainty (actually my best theory is that he learned from Kuma, and if that's the case he only knows by chance). There is a decent chance that he was unaware that Ace was Roger's son, and it's not impossible that he could learn that fact from Sengoku's speech over the monitors. I'm not saying this is the case because I don't believe it myself, but I am saying that it's a possible outcome and you shouldn't just dismiss it.
@Kairouseki:
Is Rouge's name pronounced like a thief or pirate, or is it pronounced like the French word for red?
Its both. It ads another solid hint to Nami x Luffy theory.
I said you were negative because you refuse to recognize things as a possibility if you don't like them.
So by my perspective that would make me positive. You act like not aknowledging stuff like that is…hell do you even know what negative means?

Ahh, an even worse route. Give me one reason I shouldn't shut down theories with logical and literary reasoning if they are flawed in such a manner.
It's not like I treat only bad theories this way, but good ones are good BECAUSE they are largely well checked in regards to logic etc.
If this had anything to do with what I wanted to happened then I would think there would be a bunch of big deaths. But Oda would never do that so what I want is rubbish as a theory.

Rayleigh was Roger's right hand man. Do you seriously think he wouldn't know if Garp did?
I'm not saying this is the case because I don't believe it myself, but I am saying that it's a possible outcome and you shouldn't just dismiss it.
Do you comprehend of what scrutiny even is? I'm challenging the thing, not waving some magical wand and blacklisting it from all further discussion. If your theory is worth any salt you can defend it from basic scrutiny and scepticism. If you can't it's probably flawed.
Great Chapter, awesome revelation, but now I wonder if Garp isn't of Gol D. Roger's family
does whitebeard kno :O
I wonder, I think i read in some SBS that devil fruits grow out of the user's body if the user dies.
If that's true, I wonder if Akainu doesn't have a DF at the moment. Wouldn't this hint that Ace is going to die, and Akainu's gonna take Ace's devil fruit?
But then again, I can't find the SBS I read that in, so feel free to debunk that theory.
The scene at Shab might mean that the Straw hats might reunite sooner than predicted with Rayleigh's card that they recieved they might arrive there by the time Luffy shows up at Marineford on the big TVs there and they'll probably help out Luffy with their new tricks and a pimped out sunny ready to leave towards Fishman island. That's my prediction.
Its both. It ads another solid hint to Nami x Luffy theory.
Actually I just read part of the raw and it's written "ルージ", pronounced "rooji", which is like the French word. So thanks but sorry .

Oh man, did you have to take a short two paragraph response and make a paragraph out of every sentence? You don't shut down theories, you just say "no" and follow it up with some irrelevant comments from what I've seen. It's not like you're providing a mountain of evidence for your viewpoints. You should provide reasoning yourself before you accuse others of lacking it.
My best guess is that Roger asked Garp to save Ace as a favor in exchange for turning himself on, meaning that Garp was the last person he talked to when he had his freedom. It's entirely within the realm of possibility that he parted ways with Rayleigh before he got Rouge pregnant, so Rayleigh could only find out third hand. You can't claim that you "shut down" this theory unless you actually provide evidence that refutes it, and not just personal opinion on the matter.
EDIT: Holy crap when did my name turn red?

the question is who is the one that hid rogue for all that time? i'm thinking it might of been shanks since he wasn't a huge name yet. rayleigh couldn't of hid rougue as he was a big name and probably had to hide himself for a long time and fight. wonder who is the one that took ace to east blue after he was born. was it shanks? or did garp come into the scene at that point and take ace and claim him as his grandson and then gave him to that person in east blue?

i think she hid herself, she is a 'D' after all. if not maybe Garp hid her in east blue
i think she hid herself, she is a 'D' after all. if not maybe Garp hid her in east blue
at the end she was very frail though. plus she can't be fighting marines if she is pregnant. heh this theory might get a lot of crap from people but i'll say it anyway! could shanks be rogues brother? redheads usually have a lot of freckles and ace has freckles. shanks is a red head and maybe rogue had red hair. would be another huge development if shanks is ace's uncle and that is the reason why he always checked up on ace at luffy's village. this might also be the reason why shanks would know about rogers kid. doesn't seem right that shanks would know and other members of rogers crew probably didn't know.
smurfx why did anyone need to hide her? The act of carrying Ace for another 11 months was enough of a disguise to fool the marine as far as I understood Sengokus statement.
@Kairouseki:
Actually I just read part of the raw and it's written "ルージ", pronounced "rooji", which is like the French word. So thanks but sorry .
No… I just checked the raws now, and it definitely says ルージュ.

I think the most logical person would be Crocus, being a doctor and all. But really, it's a very good question. Shanks is a good guess, since I think the evidence points to him knowing about the baby. Garp could also be considered a possibility.
@Super-Franky:
No… I just checked the raws now, and it definitely says ルージュ.
Well I guess I forgot the ュ. My point still stands that it's pronounced like the French word. It would just be pronounced "roojoo" and the final "oo"s are mostly dropped just like the "i" would've been in my example.

I must have missed something again… Why did she need to hide? Who knew of her?

Highly likely. The crew disbanded a year before roger was executed (chapter 506 pg 13). Factoring Ace's 20 months in the womb, roger and rouge knocked boots 5 months before he was executed. Whether they disbanded a full year before or several months, and he's (rayleigh) rounding up is unkown but your theory holds water.
All I can say after reading this chapter is that Portgas D. Rouge has a womb of solid fucking steel…
I must have missed something again… Why did she need to hide? Who knew of her?
Well, she needed to hide from the Marines which isn't difficult on her own. The more important point is that she would have needed someone to take care of her. I doubt a 19 month pregnant woman is very capable of supporting herself.
Highly likely. The crew disbanded a year before roger was executed (chapter 506 pg 13). Factoring Ace's 20 months in the womb, roger and rouge knocked boots 7 months before he was executed. Whether they disbanded a full year before or several months, and he's (rayleigh) rounding up is unkown but your theory holds water.
Just a quick note. Roger died 1 year and 3 months before Ace's birth (15 months). So he would have gotten Rouge pregnant 5 months before he was executed.
Seems she is quite a strong woman if she can carry her child an extra 11months by will. I can not speculate about how much she can do by herself when she is 19months pregnant. But I would assume the rest of her village would help out if she was weak.
I must have missed that about GDR. When did we get the timespan between GDRs death and Aces birth?
TOO MUCH FUCKING MATH IN MY MANGA!!!
Fucking babies…!
Uruge. I must have missed that part. When did we get the timespan between GDRs death and Aces birth?
Well, I'm well aware of it because I screwed that line up when I initially translated it, but I caught it very quickly fortunately.

ah yes, after along work day i just remembered a 1 and a 3 so 13 sounded right lol.
@gorlom: pg 17. 20 month pregnancy. roger died a year and 3 months earlier
Any chance anyone knows how long it took between GDRs "capture"/surrender to his execution?
The only thing bugs me in this chapter was that 20 months pregnancy thing, even one piece logiclessness has limit…
The rest were pure awesome.
dude a lot of moms, give birth for(17 months)they have normal labor & live
it is normal in reality, but in OP,
Portugas(Jpn style)D.Rouge give birth for 20 months & she died
^ More like Pootogasu. ポートガス I think I got it right :ermm: .
Edit: Yep, it's right.
I hear a lot of people talking about the perspective of the Shichbukai pic but I can't find anything wrong with it.

jk. Maybe it's because you help with translations?
@robby I'm willing to make an amv of your favorite character to make it up to you, just name it!
@sai Oh, that could be it.

If you're trying to say what I think you are, that link that claimed the longest pregnancy on record lasted 17 months was a hoax. The real record for longest pregnancy is 375 days.
Akainu=meteors
Why the fuck are people saying this. It's completely fucking groundless.
It doesn't even make fucking sense.
What the hell is a meteor power.
Makes as much sense as Ice and Air Haki.
:ninja:
I'm 99% sure it'll be ground or clay.
Oh man, did you have to take a short two paragraph response and make a paragraph out of every sentence?
Sorri if you can't keep up but I'm not slowing down.

If this bullshit rebuttal ends
It's not like you're providing a mountain of evidence for your viewpoints.
What viewpoint are you even talking about.
What theory have I put forward that you've ever seen.
I made a thread years ago about a theory on what the One Piece was and defended from all sorts of criticisms for page after page.
You can't even pretend I'm a hypocrite.
You should provide reasoning yourself before you accuse others of lacking it.
For what? You don't get debate at all.
My best guess is that Roger asked Garp to save Ace as a favor in exchange for turning himself in,
Wait, are you seriously implying the reason Roger turned himself in was to save his child from persecution? Did you even realize what a larger theory this was? How you were inching in on completely different issues?
You can't claim that you "shut down" this theory unless you actually provide evidence that refutes it, and not just personal opinion on the matter.
Your talking like the theory is valid even with holes in it. I wasn't even referring to this single theory as being shut down, as you were talking about what I do in general.
EDIT: Holy crap when did my name turn red?
It didn't, unless you see browns as reds.

I'm 99% sure it'll be ground or clay.
What the hell are Ice and Air Haki, Aokiji is an Ice logia which makes sense, he can turn into ice, create ice etc. Ice is a substance.
Meteor would be what?? Not logia (considering the other two are logias it goes without saying there's a pattern here), not a zoan, so what exactly would it be as a paramecia? What the hell is a Meteor based power?
Ground or clay is ignoring the whole color theme going on, with Ice being associated with blue, and light being associated with yellow. Clay or ground has nothing to do with red.
Magma (though I doubt it) or Blood would fit the bill and both would be DFs.
Mostly I just want to know what the fuck is making people say something as random as "Meteor". Even disregarding the hints it's completely random.
I made those pictures because of so many people using Haki as an explanation for everything. They're supposed to be a pun on how Haki sounds like hockey.
And clay IS red. Ground can be red too.
Clay can be all sorts of colors, red is only one possibility, ground is extremely rarely red.
Both of them are mostly browns and grays, and are aways depicted as such in simple elemental type color coding systems (think Pokemon). No one thinks of them when they think of red.
Clay would be a pretty dull Logia too, just a basic nondescript gummy dirty substance. Does that really sound like it's on the level of Ice and Light?
Sure it's a plausible devil fruit (unlike Meteor) but for an admiral?
