Just watched
! I hadn't seen the story boards, so this was a pleasant surprise. Nice ending, but I dun wanna wait a month more :V
I watched the season finale last week and I really like what it did. It was nice to have an episode focused solely on Finn, even if he spent most of it doing stuff from Billy's bucket list. Now that he's conquered his fear of the ocean, there's really not much that can stop Finn the Human from adventuring the shit out of Oo, so that's awesome. Man, I hope that we do get to see Billy's ex again in the future, because I liked her character a lot…

Dammit, Finn.
Nothing wrong with that. After the season finale, I think Finn might've grown a bit, so now maybe he'll be better equipped to handle a relationship. It's pretty funny how much the new princess resembles FP, by the way. Also, hey, no more burns or tin foil bodysuits for you, Finn! Huzzah!
I'm fine with him not being with FP. Yes, they were cute… but their actual personalities didn't mesh very well in a lot of respects, and the route the story took with them made sense.
Plus, Finn's being kinda creepy around the girls. He needs to stop that.

At least she was better than PB or Marcy. I mean… he's 15.
Besides, call me crazy but those two were totally banging at some point.
Welp I like that Finn gets around a bit. Reflects real life a little better than than the episode/chapter 1 designated love interest. Also love seeing pairing fandoms not getting what they want.

First of all, why light bro? Why no caps?
Second of all, what? They must've been in relationship at least.

Wait… you thought I was talking about Finn and FB? I was talking about Bubblegum and Marcy.
@Light:
I was talking about Bubblegum and Marcy.
Olivia Olson completely shot down the notion of them having a romantic relationship.
Olivia Olson completely shot down the notion of them having a romantic relationship.
Well she's just the voice actor… :sideways:
The writers agree with her; they're basically just messing with the fans by tossing in references to it with no plans to have anything come out of it.
Nrama: So the next Marceline episode (“Sky Witch,” unaired when this interview was conducted) is a Marceline/Princess Bubblegum one…I’m going to be very careful in my phrasing, but there’s certainly an…interesting fan base (Olivia laughs) that’s sprung up around those characters, and I’m curious as to what you think of that.
Olivia: Well…after the “What Was Missing” episode, the fans are actually the ones who came up with the whole lesbian possibility (laughs). I was talking to Kent Osborne –
Martin: – head writer of the show, and an old friend of ours –
Olivia: – and we were just joking around, and I went, “Really? You made me a lesbian?” (laughs) And he goes, “No! That didn’t even cross our minds.” But so many of the fans were convinced that was going on that in a weird way, they’re maybe kind of banking on that a little bit.
Martin: They’re just letting the rumor be there, even though it’s not true.
Olivia: Yeah.
I kinda like that it's ambigous enough that the fans who see them as a couple get their share, but still innocent enough that you can still just see them as friends.
Well there sinks my ship. :getlost:
Yuasa Masaaki directs an Adventure Time episode.
How awesome is that.
Season premier was pretty sweet.
! Lots of big stuff going down with Prismo dying, the return of the Lich, Finn's dad, and Finn finally losing his arm. Nice cop-out with the revival juice too, but I do wonder if the flower will have some significance later.
! And Treetrunks and Mr. Pig raising the Baby Lich at the end was a hilarious twist.
! Well, Adventure Time certainly keeps surpassing the WTF-ratio it has given already.
! Real pity what happened to Prismo. I really liked him. :sad:
! Finn's dad is a real jackass! Didn't see that coming.
! And Lich… seriously, what the hell? Tough I'd definitely would've preferred him turning back to the person he was once. But honestly this seems like rather lame end to one of the greatest villains ever put on a kid's show. Maybe he'll come back someday...
Terrifying episode.
O_o
God damn it, the biggest bro in animation got
! killed
That was great in every way.
! I love that fins's dad is a deadbeat. i love how he finally lost his arm. I love lich baby. Really bummed Prismo got aced though, he was the definition of chill.
Wow.
This season premiere was pretty EPIC.
And weird in some way…
Can't wait for the next episodes in this season!
AT, the series where huge game-changing events occur one after the other but aren't played for any drama beats, it's so uniquely weird
Wow, there's so much disappointment in this episode:
! I'm disappointed that Prismo died. I'm disappointed that we didn't get to know more about Finn's dad. We the viewer are left in the same state as Finn, wanting answers and getting nothing.
! This was a great two-parter. There was so much tension in that second half! The Lich was a sick, force of evil, and the setting was amazing. I hope that we see this revisited again. All of it. Lick baby, Finn's jerk of a dad (really, I want to know his backstory no matter what), and maybe Prismo isn't dead? It could happen.
! You know, I just remembered that it was Billy who told where Finn's father was. If he considered it important enough for Finn to know, there might be more to Martin that we saw now.
He had to have been locked in galactic prison for a reason…
! Martin is probably a wizard of some sort; notice that he always touches people when asking them to do things.
He had to have been locked in galactic prison for a reason…
Still Billy thought it was important to tell Finn. If he wanted him to stay away from him he probably would have told he was an dangerous criminal. He must have realized Finn would want to see him. Originally he was supposed to tell about Martin in The Lich episode and say that he was unlawfully imprisoned in the Citadel. So there might be some foul play going on this time too. I'd say we wait until we see the whole picture.
Regardless of the circumstances of Martins imprisoment, he's still a huge dick.
Well, I'd even go on record here and call him, and I know this'll sound harsh, a VERY bad person.
I know, that's really awful of me, but we're talking here about a guy who was in the worst prison in the universe and can basically, with a wink and a few gentle slaps, make Cthulhu his bitch and do whatever he wants him to do.
I… I think Martin has the power of Absolute Charisma.
@The:

What I'm saying is that he doesn't even seem to remember his son, so there might be something wrong with his head…
@Light:

Or you just mistaken "doesn't remember" with "doesn't care".
Even if he was an amnesiac, he's an amnesiac whos default response when confronted by a boy claiming to be his lost son is to make no effort to learn his name, deny responsibility, and ditch him as fast as humanly possible.
Finn's dad is a total deadbeat dickbag. His role in the future will be very interesting.
! still really gonna miss the Lich though
He hitched a ride out of Citadel with some planet destroying mofos. I think he's bad news.
@Aru:
Or you just mistaken "doesn't remember" with "doesn't care".
I'm just saying that Billy wanted the two of them to reunite…
Not necessarily. Billy just told him his dad was alive. I mean if your friend didn't know what happened to his dad but you found out where he was wouldn't you tell him. I like Billy enough to assume that he doesn't necessarily know Martin that well or that by telling Finn his dad was at the Citadel might have been warning enough about the kind of person he was. I think Martin swimming away telling Finn he was going to the store was probably the best joke of both episodes.
As for just how bad Martin is as someone pointed out he did hitch a ride with some one the worst beings in the universe and even offered to lead them. His worst attribute seems to be his selfabsorbtion though. I don't think he's standard evil but he does seem like the person who would directly or indirectly cause a lot of devastation and not care about it. I like the theory that he could be a wizard cause of all his patting.
From what I watched now, Billy told Finn that his father was at the Citadel and that he should see him. So, yeah…
Also, I'm still calling it that Finn's dad is like a perfect D&D Bard that can bullshit his way into anything with pure charisma.
Not necessarily. Billy just told him his dad was alive. I mean if your friend didn't know what happened to his dad but you found out where he was wouldn't you tell him. But if Billy only knew that Martin was imprisoned in the citadel, or that he was a crook, why encourage Finn to go see him? I think it's plausible that he was aware of the circumstances of his imprisonment.
Don't get me wrong, it would be an awesome twist that father of such noble hero was a self-serving dick! But it wouldn't really explain why Billy seems to think highly of him. And considering that he doesn't even remember his son there might be some brainwashing or something involved.
James II was pretty decent
! The darkness of the candy kingdom, and Bubblegums work, continues to be shown
! And Adventure Time continues stretching my expectations of what is allowed on a kid's show. Asexually…
! I love it!
! But what happened to the zombie James? Did he mesh with the others too?
…Why would the word "asexually" not be allowed? Stuff like Hug Wolf was way more risque.
@The:
…Why would the word "asexually" not be allowed? Stuff like Hug Wolf was way more risque.
It's one letter away from "sexually" doofus!
Sexual is not the same word as sex, and it was not used as a double-entendre or stand-in for a more charged word or anything. Stuff like "I'll Hug you up!" and "I'll Hug your Mom!", now that I can't believe they got away with.
"Asexual" is pretty much the most un-sexy word you can get, and they've been using the word "sexy" since season 1. Really, I'm just pleasantly surprised they were allowed to keep the exact scientific definition of cloning, without "dumbing it down"
They were talking about reproducing. "Asexual reproduction" is just one letter away from "sexual reproduction".
And all those hugging words, well it's obvious for adults what they were referring to but there's a chance that a kid doesn't get it. But asexual contains the word sexual so I'd say it's pretty edgy.
@Light:

…are you twelve?
They said sex in the pokemon movie
If its in reference to gender I think it's okay
@Rob:
…are you twelve?
Nah, just a pervert.
I liked the first james. I thought it had some nice darkness to it. This james was much funnier though. I feel like i shouldn't have been laughing as hard as i was when the James were talking with the Banana guards but i was dying. I also like how PB continues to be the most pragmatic ruler she can be under the circumstances of having a kingdom made of living candy, some nice shades there.
that was a good episode. The BMO part was great
I liked Finn's song. Also it was nice to see PB full on helping in her own way instead of shades of gray manipulating the people around her.
