Kljs i will answer you here cause the spoiler thread for this chapter is now closed. Let's say you are usopp in this manga. And you look at what luffy do the most of the time you will shake your head. I mean when he got serious with vivi etc shows to me that he care for people. And if it comes to explain things to them he do it in his own way. But most of the time he can't understand normal things. Oda may have decided to do it for comic situations.

Luffy doesn't read the newspaper. Maybe that he can't read at all? And he shows no interest to do so.
Luffy can't sail. And he tried to do it when he left his village. He tried to do it on amazon lilly. That's not a developpment. If you can't swimm, can't sail, can't read a map, don't know much about the sea would you decide to just jump on a raft and try to do it? I guess not. And we haven't seen him tried to learn it. He seems fine to stay ignorant about it. That's why he relies on Nami and that's ok.
Luffy doesn't understand the world. Example: He doesn't understand ID and he never thought about how difficult it would be there or that the chances are near to 100% that he will get caught once he arrive there.
Take every scene where the others are trying to understand something that may sometimes be really simple. And look at how luffy interpret it.

To me it's clear he is not smart. And again if you read my posts you would see that i don't mean his fighting skills etc... He is a real good fighter. But when it comes to understand common things every kid will understand he fails miserably. The only thing he is able to understand is peoples dreams and he is able to change them. He is able to show someone how to fight for his dreams. And he do it in his own way. The few moments where he was dead serious made me wonder if he is not schizophren :) The term autist can also be used here. He lives in his own world.

As much as I love this chapter and love seeing Buggy back, the recent naruto chapter really surprised me in how bold it was. It is one of the first chapter in a long time with Naruto where I am actually really interested to see what is going to happen next.

I just had a crazy random thought: Buggy's crew said they were after the treasure of Captain John. Captain John was a General Zombie on Thriller Bark. Luffy is still wearing the glass armband he got from Thriller Bark's treasure trove.

Random Thought: The glass armband is a piece of John's treasure, obtained by Moria presumably wherever they got Captain John's body.

That'd be hilarious if so. Just to see Buggy get screwed out of yet another treasure because of a Man in the Straw Hat. Of course that'd mean the armband has to be recognizable as part of that hoard, but still it'd be funny.

If i offended someone with my statements i apology cause that was not what i wanted to say. Well let's forget about the autism thing. I stay by my statement that luffy is dumb by judging from his actions. It was never my intention to say that autists are dumb sorry if it came out like that.

Well i guess that i also enjoying the story. The point i'm discussing here started in the spoiler thread and it was a review over the character development of each Sh. To me it seems like luffy never evolved since the beginning of OP. And with evolving i don't mean strength and fightnig techniques. Then i explained that he is dumb and my thought was that he was complete (when it comes to the mental part and how he cares for people) since the beginning to achieve his goal. Basically he became stronger and that's all. Since his childhood he had this great ambition and he never doubted that he shouldn't have tried to sail and have adventures. And i had hopes for him to elaborate a plan to save Ace. But i guess that with this chapter the chances are near to 0 that he has a well elaborated plan. (i already said why i think that he has a plan cause back then when Nyon was explaining him how difficult it would be to free his brother he said to her that she doesn't need to worry about what he will do once he arrives there). And i'm a little sad that he just managed to come there with the help of Hancock and just follows Aces vivre card. It seems that he doesn't really realise where he is or that it doesn't matter to me. And this is what i think that luffy is reckless. But maybe that it's the way Oda want to write his story. Luffy must stay like that and with his view on the world he needs nakamas to achieve his goals. He is unable to sail so he needs nami he can't cook complicated meals that taste good so he needs sanji :D He isn't able to cure himself that's why chopper is there etc… etc... But even if there may never be a character development of luffy i just wanted to see him sometimes act like Mr. Prince. That would be great like Zik said to wonder if luffy is a dumbass or a intelligent genius that just hide himself behind a fool image.

The gag where Buggy was sliced in half while running from the guards was hilarious…at least it looks like him and Luffy are on the same side for once. (oh, and somehow Hancock was rather convenient in "stoning" that woman guard...somehow she turns all of them on to her rather easily with her power)

i don't find this too random. actually a great theorie that buggy is after captain johns treasure and luffy is wearing HIS armband. i mean, why is he wearing that thing anyway? it must serve some kind of purpose more than giving luffy more accesoiries than his standard clothes and his strawhat.
it would make total sense to me if there was some kind of link!
the only thing that doesn't go along with captain john being involved is that there could be a mistranslation. when i remember correctly stephens trans didn't mention captain john in the first place but all the other translations (assuming that there were more than one, which i don't know) mentioned captain john. either way a great theorie imo!

So, even snails think dirty. Didn't really need to know that, but I guess it was necessary.

Anyway, I'm personally glad that Hancock is out of the picture for the time being. Didn't think her character was handled very well. And way to go, making a scene at the end there, though I love how Momonga looks like he doesn't care one bit.

That page at the end was so worth it though.

I wonder where Oda is going with Hancock. One Piece will never be about romance. At best, romance will be treated like in Dragonball: off-pannel. But will Hancock be by Luffy's side in the end of the manga?
