I haven't done much today. I played a few rounds of the zombie multiplayer mode in Black Ops with one of my roommates. Not quite as adept at it as I was a year ago with my old roommates. Then I played a little more of Pokemon and watched a few of this week's anime episodes that I hadn't gotten around to, which had 100% more creepy implied sex than my day needed.

I never knew that searching for the perfect University, that is offering a Master degree course I liked, in a USA city known well enough so that people in Cyprus wouldn't go 'Whazzat?' when they heard it, would be such a pain in the butt. Also why so expensive USA? :l I think I have been overly spoiled by Cyprus' and Greece's free education…
-
Ohio State, Chrissie. You know you want to.
-
Well the fact that you're going for well-known cities is your first mistake…
Of course those are going to be expensive locations.
-
Honey, Cyprus is all about the 'well-known'. If I pick some obscure town, no matter how good the University, my degree will look like trash to most people. Plus it might not even be recognized by the government which is the last thing I want to happen since I want to be employed by it. And I can assure you, I checked prices even in not so well places out of curiosity and they were still terribly high, even for bachelor degrees. Education should not be that expensive. Scratch that. Education should be free. MA's I understand, you have to pay for that level of studying in Greece and Cyprus too, but paying for bachelor degrees too? Dude. Duuuude.
-
Silly non-American wanting free education . Also that's kind of stupid that it has to be well known to really count.
-
Over here they've raised tuition to £9000 a year. America's got it worse though; that's where the whole 'starting college funds when the child is born' thing comes from.
-
My school is only about $1300 per quarter right now. And that's really cheap.
-
It is stupid but it's mostly been done that way because of certain circumstances around fake degrees that wormed their way into the country and Greece a few years ago. They don't easily trust degrees from unknown Universities in unknown towns anymore. So the better your university is known, the less chances you have to run into trouble with your future employer.
-
Here in Brazil, location don't count, only name and quality. But we have an exception when we talk about of one of our states located in the gigantic Amazon Rainforest. :ninja:

Yeah, I know. =/ A bit over 10k euro. My current University has a 5k euro MA program but the subject is of no interest to me :/ Pity.

This is a giant debate waiting to happen so I'll just sidestep that entirely and suggest going to a community college first and then a university from there. Make sure the credits are transferrable, get your scholarships and grants in order, and see if you can't get a part-time job. For foreigners it's more difficult to pay for college but most of the difficulty clears up within a year of residency so I highly recommend community college first.
That is, of course, if you're trying to complete your degree in America. If you're only sticking around temporarily, I have no clue what I can tell you. If it's only one year, I'd suggest doing a transfer student thing. Not that I have much knowledge on the subject but from what I heard, it's significantly cheaper (with the drawback being that I think none of the credits are transferrable).
I'd highly recommend talking to a counselor or someone familiar on the subject of foreign education.
-
I'm at the stage where I'm choosing a University. Ideally America would be great, but that's not gonna happen. With those fees, even going to another country in the UK would be hard. I liked the look of the University of Essex. And Cardiff, but they don't carry some of the things I want.
Realistically, I'm probably gonna go to the one nearest me since it can cater for EVERYTHING I'm looking for; though I had wanted to go away from home.
I'm looking for English Literature, possibly a second language (either French or German) and then to do a PGCE so I can teach English.

Note that this not my opinion. I didn't decide on my own that 'Omigosh Known town=better university' or some shit like that so it's quite pointless to have a debate about this with me of all people.
Well the most one would study for a MA degree, would be two years and that's if it's part-time if I am not mistaken. Full-time would reduce the study time in 1. I am thinking of going for part-time studying tho to work on my free time for the rest of my expenses since I will be getting a student loan for the tuition fees as to get out of my parents' hair completely. A student transfer isn't possible from what I know for Master degrees. I at least haven't heard of something like that till now. 0.0
I will get in touch with someone who can offer me advice on the subject in Easter, but before that I have to search on my own and it's a quite frustrating process I must say.

I meant the debate of "Paying to go to college vs Free college based on grades".

Ahhh. Well, we have two different educational institutes in Cyprus and Greece: College and University. College you pay for everything, University you don't. I find that it's better that way personally. Both have their pros and cons.

IRC bot ban! damn it…
-
jesus is banned?
IMO he was an okay poster so i can only assume that someone jumped the gun and banned him for simply his name lolanyways, i watched "law abiding citizen" today. fucking awesome movie.
the social commentary was top notch, IMO Clyde was correct in everything he said about the flaws in the justice system.
his killing methods and tactics were great too, sometimes morbidly amusing.
i was glad that despite losing the battle, he won the war.
he convinced Nick that he was wrong to sell out for the sake of his conviction rate. -
i didn't know that lol, thanks for informing me XD

Today my father gave me a tablet without any reason.
Me: What am I gonna do with it??
Father: It's yours, do what you want.
Me: Ok ..?Well, I have pounds of homework to do, and a week of exams coming up

Got myself a 3DS today at the midnight launch. Waited 3 hours for it but it's worth it.

Can't believe I wasted my entire evening and then some in AP chat. So THAT'S what it's like. The first time was mild. There were like three other people. But last night was the craziest orgy of madness I've ever been a part of ever. Fun as it is though, I think I should make a note to never go into AP chat if it's possible to avoid because it's a vortex that sucks you in and makes it really hard to leave. It's like typing in caps lock is a physical workout (damn am I out of shape if typing makes me tired). I'm like a zombie right now (and that's not even the latest I've been known to stay up for either). There was one tiny little moment that kinda irritated me, and I should have left, but I stayed anyway. Not gonna say what part, just felt the need to say that. Chats are interesting. It's chaos and fun, but on unexpected, rare moments, you can find out something about someone that is on quite the personal level, even if you don't intend to find out about it.
then came a dream (not as bad as I thought it'd be but…)
! My dreams were devoid of the dread boytaur, but I did have a dream involving pokemon and team rocket, only there was some kind of military base involved. me and my bro infiltrated the base and drove around in what seemed like a bit of a reckless fashion. We managed to get out. Team rocket kidnapped one of Ash's pokemon (again), but this time, hardcore measures had to be taken to get it back. Then for some weird reason, two human people thought it was clever to use a yellow bed sheet to disguise themselves as pikachu to trick meowth who was an idiot. Togepi may have been involved. There was this cool team of poke-trainers who had this badass intro like the kind you only see in anime. Never found out if the pokemon got rescued though.
! Then my dream ended with this weird tribe of lizard-ish people who kind of remind me of the navi from Avatar and there was a red and blue group and the angry ones were red and somehow the blue did something to get threat of banishment. Weird conflict ensued, some guy had something weird happen to his head, and then a black man decided to piss on the guy's face while he lay helpless, only Mr. black dude's dick was made of something else, and that was the last thing I remember before waking up. <___< -
Fine, we don't want you there anyway B| .
-
Yup pretty much. There's hardly even need for me to be here at all. Not like it matters where I am really. I don't have the energy to keep up with you guys that late in the night/morning on a regular basis. …Wow!! I completely forgot what I went there for in the first place!! Again! How many times has this happened?! BFF, go to the couples thread already. Shanks will stare into your soul. Might have to do a bit of digging around but it's there.
-
Shanks what where
-
Wow. That was fast. It's like you instantaneously teleport whenever Shanks gets mentioned.
-
No, the irc people are just following this thread actively.
And please folks, don't turn this thread into another general discussion/chatting thread. This is one of the best threads around and it would be a great shame to see the thread closed for good.
-
I do that.
Except it's whenever a certain tiny little fella gets brought up :ninja:
-
Quiet, Dry. Shanks IS my batsignal. <3
-
did i miss marimo on the chat?
fuck you god
-
Shanks .
-
I can't seem to get the chat running.
-
I'll get the results for a quite important test on Monday. Tomorrow
Thing is I wrote that thing on January 29th, so I don't even remember most of it.Also, I once again failed to get up in time and didn't go to the library. I was punished with horrible nightmares though.
-
/sigh
Internet connection's been screwy all day long. I haven't been able to connect to the wireless router for the whole day. I eventually used the wire thing to connect directly, but I suddenly got kicked out of the chat. The rest of my Internet is working fine, it's just the chat that I can't get on - tried Java, too. :(
-grumblegrumble-
-
You're not the only one. My mIRC suddenly threw me out of the chat babbling about software caused connection abort, and I can't get back anymore. Weird occurences.
-
I used Mibbit to get back to channel but everybody is gone…
Feels lonely...
-
hmm, I can't get on Mibbit either. It keeps telling me the website needs a new Google API key. I tried generating a new one but it doesn't seem to work. Oh, well.
I'll go sleep I guess. Goodnight Massie and Drydry (you're still handcuffed) and everyone~! <3
Gotta wake up at 8AM siiiigh.
-
Threw up twice, feel awful. Feels like it's gonna be a third.
Stupid Cornflakes.
-
I have to revise 3 semesters in two days. It's not fun.
Had good food though.
-
Revise as in ?
Because if it means what I think it means then…..ouch :/
-
As in: having to go over every aspect of every topic we dealt with again.
-

-
As in: having to go over every aspect of every topic we dealt with again.

Just as I feared. I'm very sorry
-
@No:
Ouch.
Just as I feared. I'm very sorry
Thanks. It's my fault that I have to do it on such short notice though. I'm a procrastinating piece of shit.
-
That's how I would do it.
I crammed half a school year of physics before but this ?
I would fail so badly.
