WHY does we even need a new crew member, when there is no big position to be taken? The other people joined for a reason.

Brook joined, because Luffy wanted a musician since the beginning of the series.
Frankie joined because of the need of a shipwright.
There was no need for Robin, but it was implied all the time in Alabasta that we would get a new crew member - Vivi, that was just exchanged with Robin.
Chopper joined because of the need of a doctor.
Sanji joined because of the need of a doctor.
Nami joined because of the need of a navigator.
Zorro joined because of the need of a navigator (XD) and the first crew member.
Usopp wasn't thought to join because of his position, but back in East Blue the crew needed to be filled out.

People are citing Luffy's line that he wanted ten people in the crew. Back then, it was unclear if he was including himself, but now, with chapter titles like ''The Eighth'' for Brook, it's clear that we have two more people to go.

And again, there's not always a dire need for someone to join. It was only after Usopp was already onboard that Luffy decided to label him a sharpshooter. Though I personally think the hypothetical Fishman Straw Hat would make an excellent oceanographer.

And going by your last line saying that the crew needed to be filled out the Grand Line, it can be said that the crew needs to be complete for the New World.

Cuz Luffy said so. Cuz Oda wants 2 more nakama. There doesn't need to be a need for a job to be filled for ppl to join. We've seen Luffy ask anybody to be his nakama even if they were just jokes. Given how he is, if he wasn't stopped he would literally have those weirdos join the crew.

before they didnt needed a carpenter until the Merry got extremely damage so maybe they will need a helmsman on the future cause X reason or a Sailmaker cause the new world winds destroy the sails al the time or some other shit

the point is the fact that it isnt needed now doesnt mean that it wont be needed later

No they always needed a carpenter/shipwright. I noticed that every time the Merry got fucked up from a storm or an enemy. It's actually surprising it lasted that long in the GL given what it went through.

There doesn't need to be a need for a job but I do agree that Oda does tend to present the need in order for a nakama to join. However, he didn't do this for Robin. So who's to say the next 2 nakama won't join in a similar way Robin did where there's no vital need for them as long as they provide something to the crew.

Helmsman would be cool, I thought of that months ago but ppl did bring up Nami and Franky handling that job in addition to their main tasks but like I said before if a helmsman is gonna join that person is gonna have to be better at that than the other SHs are at their main jobs since Nami and Franky have already shown to be good enough to steer the ship…......

When I look at that common knowledge of the sea, and knowing the ship you're sailing and you are set. I haven't seen many type of special feats of helmsman when it comes to what they do other than escaping an enemy(something Franky has shown us) or sailing through a storm(Nami).

One thing that could be cool if it's a helmsman with a multiply or duplicate DF where he can make duplicates of himself so he can basically be a one man crew when it comes to sailing a ship. You know like raising/setting the sail, directing the rudder, etc. all by one man/woman.

That would be EXTREMELY COOL!
he could manage all the cannons(except Gaon) on the ship all by himself and his fighting skill could be interesting too

except that, technically Robin have a DF which allow her to duplicate herself, not enterally but if there was a guy that just clone himself out of nowhere the similarities to robin would be evident

Zoro - Swordsman/First Mate
Nami - Navigator/Thief/Weather Expert
Ussop - Inventor/Sniper/Trickster
Sanji - Chef
Chopper - Doctor
Robin - Rune Chaser/Assassin/Wisdom
Franky - Shipwright/Muscle
Brooke - Musician

I like Margaret, but I don't foresee her joining. If she does, that'll be cool, but from what we know of her, it's doubtful. Notice all the other crew members. They were made BIG DEALS when they were first shown. The only person who didn't seem like a big deal was Vivi.

nobody out there would be better to take care of the Sunny at the new world, and he also claims to be "world class", so who knows, becoming the guardian of the Ship of the Pirate King, the most wanted pirate, might fulfill his desires as a Sumo Axe warrior.

he also mentioned he had nothing in particular against pirates, something no other WG henchman in the past has said.

In a way, Laboon could be Nakama. The Jolly Roger on him. Brooke. Is he an official nakama that is currently with them? No. With them or not, they can be nakama.

The same thing can be said about Margaret. Have you seen how many times we've seen her in the recent chapters? Ever since her first visit, she appeared in 10 panels when she was introduced. Then after that she has appeared more times than the other Kujas.

You could say she saved Luffy's life as well. Also standing up for him when Boa had him trapped.

Luffy asked Usopp to join as a friend and decided he was a sharpshooter later. Chopper was asked to join without having any idea whatsoever he was a doctor. That was just a bonus after the fact. While Robin will certainley be important to the plot with her archeology, that wasn't why Luffy agreed to let her stay on the crew. And he also asked Brooke on the spot due to him being an afro skeleton that poops, the musician thing was again, just a bonus. They don't NEED to fill a role to join. heck, Luffy invited Gaimon and a dancing tree. He WON'T recruit just to fill a role 9as seen in the Davy back fight with foxy where he COULD hae gotten a shiprwright) he'll get whoever he wants, them having a useful talent for seafaring is just a bonus.

at first luffy thought gaimon was an arbush and he didnt thopught twice when seeing a giant tree drinking sake with an unicorn so it can be posible to see tree mens on the new world

Just to add on to that^^ When Luffy did say he wanted a nakama for a specific position(shipwright). He didn't ask anyone to join the whole arc. Franky joining was one, obvious and two was a bonus since he was a shipwright and would've happened anyway even if he wasn't a shipwright due to the situation Franky ended up in.

Same with Luffy saying he wanted a sniper when he saw that bird in the sky before he he had anyone on his crew. He got Zoro and Nami before he found Usopp and before didn't actively search for one and as already mentioned he didn't even know Usopp was a sniper at the time he joined.

Actually, Luffy never said he wanted a sniper before Usopp joined. When he tried to catch that bird after Zoro joined up he just Rocketed himself up there.

I don't really get the point of each and every crewmeber having to have some specific job on the ship.

Does everyone in the SH crew has a pecific role? Yes. Is it necessary for someone to fill a certain job for Luffy to invite him into the crew? Hell, no! Cases in point: Vivi, Gaimon, Brook.

Simply put, Luffy will invite anyone he finds interesting - irrespective of whether the said person will be usefull to the crew or not. Vivi was a mediocre fighter at best, with no apparent skill in anything else (except, maybe, diplomacy), Gaimon was a midget in a box. And Brook was just a funny talking skellie with an afro, when Luffy invites him (he didn't know Brook was a musician yet).

If you recall correctly, Robin pissed him off until she saved his life from the Desert Girasol. And Robin wasn't seen as useful or anything else, she just asked to join and Luffy said okay. It wasn't until afterwards that Luffy came to depend on Robin for information.

If I remember correctly, she pissed him off when she killed Igaram. When she saved him from Crocodiles whirlsand, he seemed to get more sympathy.

4. Until he had to depend on Franky to save Robin, Luffy was still pissed off at him. He only changed his opinion of him after Franky promised to build the Straw Hats a ship, gratis. The Franky Family, on the other hand, he'd already forgiven back aboard Rocketman. Since they risked life and limb to help him out (and since he'd already taken his pound of flesh from them), he was on friendlier terms with them. Franky's recruitment was more a matter of circumstance making him the ideal candidate.

Luffy has never asked someone who was already a member of a pirate crew to join him before. He didn't recruit anyone from Foxy's crew and Brook's crew was already dead. With this in mind, I doubt he's going to recruit the three Boa Sisters. However, I do think that he will need their help in getting off of the island.

ok the franky case is the best one, the first time we saw it we though it was just like a mid-boss of this arc and then he turn out much more interesting
right now we know shit about the Boas or any other amazon for that mather so is not right to say, that one wont join cause luffy hates him/her

I've had an intersting thought: isn't there a god chance that perona ended up on some island along with one of the SH's? they then have to find a way to get back together, which bonds perona to the crew, or part of it at least. it would certainly surprise us all, if she suddenly joined out of the blue.

as for lufy, I think he will be going back to marinetown with the marine waiting near the kuja island. think about it, boa decides to help, maybe becomes a rosy rider/bon curry type ally. he pretends to be captured, goes back to marinetown, and then in a massive battle involving WB's crew and many other things, possibly even all the SH's joiningf together, having headed for marinetown themselves meet up again, with some moderate haki knowledge, the next best upgrade for their fighting.

It is posible to meet perona again and that an SH ended up with her but i dont think she would join by going with another crewmember
the onlyones that didnt saw perona were Brooke, Luffy and Robin but Perona could easily recognices any of those so if she saw one of those she would attack almost inmidiatly

exept that unless Hancock renounces to her shishibukai status she wont either join or help Luffy against WG and if that happen that leaves Amazon Lily in danger of a posible Buster Call and that would be bad

dnt know who else but i dont think the last crew member will arrive till just before they enter the new world, and i think they will be young, like a child rescued by luffy or something. would be cool how i pictured it although on paper it sounds lame

yeah but oda knew whether or not they were useful and luffy doesn't make the crew oda does and the two that weren't usefull didn't join.
