So the Edo Tensei is destroyed by happy feelings and friendship?
Oh my god, the third Hokage will turn over in his grave :getlost:

@RobbyBevard:
I like that Deidara has a sensible plan. "I can use my ultimate nuke attack immediately and infinitely without any consequence, so… I think I'll do exactly that."
This is counterbalanced by Sai's brother revealing that thinking a happy thought or meeting someone you actually knew in life can easily destroy to zombie. So yeah. I guess most of the zombies, despite their power and immortality, will be basically useless since they're all going up against friends and family.
Wait, what the hell happened to Kabuto's talk about fighting loved ones putting psychological pressure on the enemy?
And doesn't this cheat us out of the side-characters getting any development by fighting old loved ones?
Heart White..heart White

One would HOPE Kishi doesn't go the same route in every single fight. But considering he established it in the very first skirmish… and got through it in one chapter... (not even one chapter where it was the whole focus) And is already establishing a whole truckload of methods for dealing with the zombies...
It'd be one thing if he started all the fights and came back to this reveal in 15 chapters, but... to set that up right off the bat? Friendship speeches ahoy.
Heart White..heart White
Naw. Its not that level. Like I said, its counterbalanced by Deidara having a competant plan.
A plan that'll never get used because its too effective, but there's some competency in there.
And there's still a slim chance that Sai's brother will be the only one that gets pulled on because of uhm… picture books.
Yeah, I have no clue.
@Thousand:
Wait, what the hell happened to Kabuto's talk about fighting loved ones putting psychological pressure on the enemy?
You mean the part right after he said he was going to turn off everyone's personalities and make them sheer visual, which set off warning signs?
Apparently Kishi's set it up so we're screwed as an audience either way.
No personality=shallow design grab, no point reusing the character
Personality=exposes friendship speech weakness

Yeah, I have no clue.
What should we give it then, glossy black or 600 armadillo rainbow penis or whatever it's called, cause it's still pretty bad, corny sappy stuff is not something even I approve of
EDIT: but yeah were saving heart white for a special occasion (when they redeem sasuke)
It's out. Going to read now and hopefully it won't suck.

Edit: Well that sucked.
! Two former Akatsuki members defeated by a bunch of kids in 1 chapter. Nice, that's the kind of battle I was hoping for.
At first I thought "hey, this isn't bad.. is the world ending?" then I saw the last page.
Now I think there should be other color nominations
Sai's tear Brown
and
Zombie Disintegration Grey
Amazing that these two disgraces are side-by-side on the same page.
1 chapter shoted Akatsuki members. This arc should be over by Jan.
Ugh. I fear that every single battle is going to end with touchy-feely time.
Well we know deidera's gonna get out again since he has beef and unfinished business with onoki
I'd obviously just been going off the chapter summary earlier, (I very rarely actually read it anymore, I get about as much enjoment from the reactions as I do actually slogging through it) but upon realizing that they took out three villains in this chapter… with a team of almost entirely unknowns, I figured I should actually read it to see how Kishi handled what is apparently a huge mess. One of the first chapters I've read in months.
In actuality, it was a near perfect chapter.
There was in fact, character development, however rushed it may be. There was conclusion to plot thread dropped hundreds of chapters back. There was a lot going on, with a multitude of minor characters fighting, secondaries holding their own in the big leagues, and villainous baddies making villain speeches and being imposing and crazy and unstoppable, and characters getting desperate and using the best they had to offer, and there was even a wide variety of camera angles and close up and speed lines and such.
This would actually be perfectly fine pacing, if this was the sort of coverage the secondaries had been getting all along during part 2. 3 or 4 pages here or there accomplishing something against a smaller enemy, or even against a stronger enemy they don't have to win against while jobbering. That's all that was needed this entire time. Not a huge deviation from the main story, no spending 20 chapters at a time on a secondary against a random fodder enemy. They don't need a lot of screen time, they never did, just a moment to show off a technique, accomplish something and take out a smaller threat. THis is in fact exactly the sort of thing I wanted to see happeningduring the Pain arc.
If this was 200 chapters ago, it'd be perfect, and exactly what was called for. In fact, this is almost exactly how I paced Ninja High School all the time, since it's a monthly american comic and I only had so many issues to work with before the series ended. (As opposed to a weekly shonen that can go as long as the author feels like it.) It's fantastic pacing for getting things done, showing off a lot of characters and events, without slowing things down, and its absolutely what Kishi has needed for a long time.
I've said on many occassions he could take this exact course to have the secondaries accomplish things without slowing the story down. This exact pacing and showing of techniques is great for taking out minions. Not so much big bads, but… great for minions.
It's miles and miles ahead of "We're useless and would just get in Naruto's way."
But…
Where it falls apart is… it IS a weekly shonen title, and this whats now been built up as the ultimate final ninja battle, reusing the strongest characters in the series (each of the Akatsuki is supposed to be hokage level after all, PLUS they're now undead and regenerating)... For the last time we'll see these characters do anything ever and their full final emotional arc and their last bit of closure?
Well... its really pathetic or ultimate village destroying monsters all on par with hokages to be taken out by a group of fodder and a single kid from the chunin exams.
And it is WAY too soon to have revealed that the zombies can be destroyed like that, with a showing of happy emotion. That's waaay too easy, and takes the threat right out of them, and wounds the entire chapter. Particularly since Sai's subplot hasn't been mentioned since... the start of part 2? And Sasori and Kankuro haven't fought in... an even longer amount of time?
As the final showing, against characters that powerful and hyped? Its just too fast. There should have been another chapter just like this one before building it up some more, and then this one.
Would have been great against fodder minions or say, the six bodies of Pain.
So, fantastic job for 200 chapters ago. Way too rushed and dissapointing for a finale. Same sort of thing that Kisame and Gai had, where it was basically all there and in place... but did in one chapter what should have been done in 2 or 3 (for a weekly shonen battle manga.)
Did one of those random nin just say they "heard" that Deidara's jutsu are weak to lightning? Cause I could have sworn Sasuke figured that out a while ago. Considering none of these guys know Sasuke, how did this unknown character figure it out? Pretty lazy exposition there.
Also, wow, RobbyBevard is really unto something there. I found myself "wow, if Sai had actually been in the series to this point then this'd be a cool chapter."

The snake summons started spreading the word after being pissed off about Manda being used as a meat shield.
Also, everybody knows that lightning beats rock. erm… in Narutoverse.
It was not as bad as last chapter. It was ok.
I liked the chapter, for reasons Robby stated. I disliked the chapter, for reasons Robby stated. Liked it for the strategy, liked it 'cuz everyone played a part. Kankuro gets his rematch against Sasori, Sai gets resolution with his brother (and finally a chance to shine in combat). Deidara's packing clay inside zombies idea was clever, Kankuro's attaching his strings to Sasori's strings was clever.
I wasn't expecting great things from Sasori, because his fight with Chiyo and Sakura divested him literally of ALL his weapons (they broke all his puppets and Kankuro took the rest, including Sasori himself). Deidara's showing on the other hand was plain disappointing. I would feel more annoyed about Sai's brother being taken out with a picturebook if I hadn't always thought the whole zombies being UTTERLY IMMORTAL thing was stupid.
All in all though… I liked it.
And on the note of the whole lightning-weakness thing, it may at first seem peculiar that so many of the villains technique's weaknesses are clearly known to the Shinobi Alliance (how to defeat Deidara's clay, the workings of Orochimaru's techniques)... but it IS a Shinobi Alliance. They probably all got together and discussed or revealed the weaknesses of the Akatsuki members in the interests of disclosure. After all - Akatsuki were all missing nins from their own respective villages. You can be damn sure Konoha revealed things about the Sharingan and Orochimaru, and Sunagakure talked about how to deal with Sasori's puppets. It helps even the playing field against Madara's "immortal" army, that our group is unlikely to be surprised by tricks we the reader have already seen. It may actually prove interesting to see how a group better prepared than just Naruto running in blind will handle Akatsuki's once unbeatable techniques.
My God that ending was terrible. The rest was ok.

This is a good point.
It would suck if they went into battle uninformed, and an entire army was taken out by a single sharingan user… due to not knowing they just need to close their eyes/look away/have a buddy touch you.
Sharing of info for the team leaders would be a good thing, to be prepaed for as many techniques as possible. Especialyl since they DID attack naruto on the island so everyone should be aware the Akatsuki has revived its dead members.
Others should be more... surprising though.
This was a really good chapter, but the ending was just cringeworthy. Also, terrible art is terrible.
The clever strategies were the highlight of the chapter for me.
I'm guessing this part of the chapter means mr. fodder is going to release them, or at least deidara because we know he has to fight onoki
I've been enjoying the last two chapters. Sure, this will leave a lot of friendship endings, but I don't think I'd mind as long as the characters get a chance to "shine"/fight. I can see Sasori's soul not being void to the Earth next chapter and I'd be fine, but it depends on how it's done for future characters. (Zabuza and Haku came in mind when thinking who'd "friendship" speech them)
it's a cop out but since they're immortal there was going to be a lame end to them anyways. Plus this fight has been pretty awesome. Sure the good guys are winning now, but I'm hoping that the tables will turn at some time during the war which will make it exciting.
So sunshine and rainbows are the way to kill the zombies…I can't say I didn't expect this, especially from Kishi. However I think he gets one pass here. If we see this happen every time or even one more time, thats when we will know that this "climatic" ending/war arc is made of shit....

Part of me wants to want this, but then all I can think of is sasuke or madara becoming the new aizen….. you know pwning everyone by himself, that would suck
but yes stratgey is good, I'm loving how there fighting with intelligence like they did in part 1 fucking awesome.... but friendship thing sucks, hopefully that's a one time deal and we see actual plans to stop them.... except for lee he goes 8 gates and just obliterates everyone /nagato to prove his kage level
That was a terrible chapter, especially all of the action. First of all, a lot of it was similar to Naruto vs Kakuzu in the sense that S-ranked ninja were falling prey to the simplest and stupidest of tricks. Deidara and Sasori were much more arrogant and lacked Kakuzu's experience, but, seriously, the big strategy that completely undermines them is a simple feint. Deidara shat his pants because cloudnin struck at the people behind him instead of in front.

believe it or not I think your in the minority here… at least as much as strategy goes, although the sword thing was completely retarded
What really has me annoyed is that these are two Akatsuki members, Deidara and Sasori, being slapped around like fodder. These are S-Rank ninja. They should have easily dodged Sai's attack and Deidara should have been bombing the hell out of the place from the get go like he usually does. The placings of the bombs inside people is a clever idea but whatever happed to all his other explosive attacks? He basically has the ability to do continuous bomb raids now. It seems they've just been watered down to make the good side look better and more elite.
I can understand Sasori being underpowered because all of his puppets have been destroyed in his previous fight but really…this is what he's been reduced to? What's the point of even bringing him out if he was so useless I ask. Just so we could see his face again and get hyped up about how awesome of a battle he'll provide just so we can have our reasonable expectations of a good fight from and Akatsuki member shot?
I also understand the combined experience and improvement of these rookie ninja may indeed manifest itself to the point where they're able to defeat 2 Akatsuki members so quickly. Then again, I also understand the combined experience and fighting capability of 2 Akatsuki members should be able to conjure up a better stand than that. At least I thought.
oh yeah i totally forgot deidara has like thousands of little flying bombs, and now has an infinite amount (i think) yeah i guess that does kind of poke a hole in the strategy department
but the biggest deal I had was sai getting the upper hand like that, was there a trick I didn't see or just a plain simple punch???? how'd he end up behind them?
EDIT: I don't know if it's just me…. but did sai actually look cool when he was pissed off? I thought so, and it's a first in his book
Sai's a badass, loved that angry face.
Little do we know, all the defeated zombies will merge together in the final chapters to form a super zombie. Such logic exists in Naruto.
Ugh. Terrible chapter. Akatsuki are being treated like fodder. Only thing I liked was Deidara's suicide bomber plan.
If just…not having regrets (or some shit like that) makes the soul come free from it's binding...why is Haku back? Why didn't he just disintegrate right after being summoned.
This chapter was awesome until Sai's emorage face.

I'm satisfied with everything except Deidara not spamming his explosives a bit more, but he gave some justification for that, so it's excusable.
Remember, most of these Edo Tensei fights shouldn't surpass the originals. The dead ninja aren't any stronger than they were in life, and in Sasori's case he was far, far weaker despite some new advantages. In contrast, the living ninja should be more powerful and already know the techniques of the dead ones, so even if they're S-ranked criminals, an A-rank Jounin like Kankuro with proper support AND knowledge of his enemy's techniques should be able to handle them.
The only way the Edo Tensei fights will be fun is if the matches are mixed up, like Gaara facing Pain or something.
Chapter was okay I guess.
I actually liked that we finally got to see Sai show some honest-to-god emotion in this chapter.
But the power of love shit at the end was terrible. Shin was literally defeated by (0:45 to 2:35)
gv4DQAPoXVk
Everything else was decent, so I'll give it yellow flash parenting skills.
I was surprised to see sai actually get angry.
I liked this chapter.

Yeah, pretty much this. Akatsuki will be fighting without most of their powers and / or advantages. Certainly, without the elements of surprise their abilities once had. Sasori had NONE of his puppets. Kakuzu has lost his masks. Who knows if Itachi and Pein will be able to use their doujutsu? All the Jinchuriki have lost their tailed beasts. Chiyo won't have her puppets either.
Whereas the alliance has had the benefit of time for training, and the advance knowledge of the kind of foe to expect and knowledge of all their known techniques. Kankuro executed his battle plan brilliantly - like you should expect of someone who has support, forewarning, and skill in spades.
So the Kankuro VS Sasori rematch actually did happen. Ran quite the opposite of the first.
You know, I cosplay Sasori and a good friend of mine cosplays Kankuro…
I've always teased him about the embarassing smackdown I gave him in early Shippuden. Why do I have a feeling that next time I see him, I'm going to get an ear-full of "WHAT NOW?!"
All the Jinchuriki have lost their tailed beasts.
While this is true, I expect most of the more original battles to come from them, since Gaara still has knowledge of the techniques he used while Shukaku was sealed in him even though he's using his own chakra and will to use them, like his sand armour.
Hanzou is also the other interesting Edo Tensei summon, since we know nothing about him except that he's ridiculously, ridiculously strong. It's possible Pein beat him in the same way he beat Jiraiya - sneaking up on a powerful opponent who didn't know about his six bodies.
Just wondering, could someone but this stuff with "heart white" and so on, on the first page, so that all ppl could check it?^^ Thx :D

…..........what? :wassat:
If none of the "good" shinobi end up dying, this will be a very stupid war.
Poor third Hokage. He killed himself in order to seal the 1st and 2nd souls; little he knew that just a little bit of peace, love and understanding would've been more than enough.
Now his soul is trapped in an eternal hell of suffering and pain just because he didn't know the wonders of Friendship no Jutsu.
Edo Tensei Zombies die with happy thoughts… I have no words...
I don't know why expected better. I don't know why I thought the Akatsuki were going to do better either, since they all pretty much died in ways I disapproved of in the past as well. Especially Sasori as he was my favorite. He died without actually scarring the ninja world as I hoped he would. :/
Goddamn. This was honestly a good chapter right up until the end when we realize the typical "love and friendship can conquer even the evilist of powers!"
I mean, I'm fine and dandy with Sai's brother having some peace of mind before departing, but there should have been a more reasonable reason for the bond the jutsu had on him breaking for no reason.
Can we blame this chapter on the forum crashing?
@RobbyBevard:
Can we blame this chapter on the forum crashing?
What, you mean Sai showing actual emotion was so shocking that the internet server broke?
Although, considering I stopped reading Naruto a few chapters ago, I'm just going off of what the members have said.
What, you mean Sai showing actual emotion
not actual emotion naruto emotion theres a big difference
… true. Half the reason I stopped reading it was because everytime I looked at the pictures, I couldn't help but cringe at the awefullness and how fake everything looked.
@RobbyBevard:
Can we blame this chapter on the forum crashing?
Not bad enough.
I'd blame it on the mods catching salmonella from Thanksgiving turkey.
That or maybe Kishi and/or some Narutards tried to sabotage us.
Mhat was a mediocre chapter. Sure, ninjas fighting and traps is all good bt dear lord the art.
http://mangastream.com/read/naruto/58994877/13
What is that? Anger? Bowel momements?
BUT WHAT THE BULLSHIT?! Love can destroy the freaking jutsu?
*****************************!!
That's the power of love.
The POOOO~OOWER OF LOVE!
So long Shin! You truly shined in your two chapters of screentime. I mean, look at his contribution to the war:
Such a powerful ninja warrior. Truly Kabuto was a genius to resurrect him.
You know, I would almost prefer Kabuto to switch off the zombies' personalities. Sasori had closure, and so did Sai concerning his brother. The books were closed on these characters and relationships, and Kishi is opening them again and scribbling in some 1 paragraph epilogues on the last page.
And it just raises extra, unnecessary questions. What the hell was Sasori talking about with knowing what Sai went through in the exams?
