My copy of Season 2, Part 7 came in from Amazon today. And watching now.

Now i'm the one face palming. I wasn't making people feel sorry for me nor I am leaving. What I basically stated was "Hey guys, I have exams starting in a month so i'm going for a while I revise and all that. See you soon!". Hell, it even says that in my sig.Just thought i'd post it since, you know, thought you guys wanted this kind of thing? All we had before was a TV rip and now, we don't. Simple as._

I'm about done with Disc 1 of Season 2, Part 7. Funi did a great job on my 3 favorite episodes of Post Alabasta fillers (Chopper and Robin's episode, Usopp's Firework, and Zoro's filler).
As much I hate the Goat Sex Island episodes, Funi improved the episode a lot to make it tolerable.
-
@ThegreatPirateKing:
"That there was a warm place I could go", not "one place". Otherwise, thanks as always!
-
I watched the first two episodes last night. The Straw Hat fillers (with the exception of Sanji's) are actually decent and I like them. Chopper's interaction with Robin made sense. One thing I do like about these fillers is that it shows how you go from Robin enemy to them caring about her in Water 7 a lot better, and with the stuff in Jaya/Skypiea it works even better.
Well that's my opinion on the "Dream Arc", as it was called in Japan. As for "Goat Sex Island" and "One Piece Goes Lost", well they left much to be desired.
Anyway, dub wise they were good as usual. Sonny Straight and his random lines always crack me up.
-
I like the dub of this ED, it's more powerful if you actually understand what they are saying.

I do agree. At least for an Ending like this anyway.
-
I love this ending, its the only good one from them.
-
Is it just me or is the ending different than the TV version?
EDIT: Actually, they're both the same but different than the Japanese cut.
i prefer the Japanese cut myself. >< Is this the only ending with an awkward cut? Or are others cut differently than the JP one as well?
-

It's just you.
16 characters.
-
For some reason, every international dub of this song is cut off. The instrumental part is doubled for the international releases, having them cut off at the weird part that they did. I would have liked to hear Free Will fully dubbed, but Toei's a bitch, so..

Why do I have this major feeling of Deja vu?…
Listed on Right Stuf

Oh, right.

I believe that Free Will is the only ending that gets cut off. Too bad as well as its one of my favorite Jpop songs but the next one "Faith" I believe is much better. Either way Ruppina who was the original artist for both songs has a beautiful voice, but Kristine Sa & Caitlin Glass both still do a good job considering what they got to work with.)

Does anyone else find it kinda sad how every Dvd has to put 'Uncut' after the title.
In a perfect world that should really go without saying. -

In a perfect world that should really go without saying.Yeah I agree. Society is way too P.C. IMO. When you go to the extremes of P.C.-ness you get 4kids.

I actually missed the last post, so thanks.
Sweet! The set should arrive around my birthday if I preorder it now.
Whoa! Just realized we're getting another one-month-inbetween release date!
-
I was hoping they'd speed up since they had already dubbed Skypeia. At this rate it looks like we might get into G8 and the Davy Back Fight before the end of the year which would be great.
-
It's possible we'll see Fourth Voyage by 12/21, and then [a] Fifth by 2/15. FUNimation does, however, have other things to do, so who knows if enough material will be finished by the time it needs to be to keep the current pace going.
-

Society is way too PC yet we've got people saying "bitch" and "asshole" on daytime tv. Back in the 90s you either needed cable or waited until nighttime to see stuff like that.
-
ALright..now the US DVDs are caught up to where the Dub ended on CN.
I can finally see what happens in the skypia arc in english -

Those soap operas and their foul language, the nerve! But seriously nothing's wrong with implementing the rating system. In my previous post I meant more along the lines of editing. I'm a firm believer in watching things in the way the creator intended them. Like South Park's 200th episode, nothing was wrong with the Mohammad thing, but Comedy Central just doesn't have a backbone. With One Piece, we should see it as the way Oda intended to tell his story. There was really never any need for pop guns, blood edits, lollipops, story and arc cuts, and race change (the most awkward edit btw). Funi's version is the way it should have been from the beginning.
On another note, I just got Seventh Voyage today. I plan on watch it really soon.
-
So I'm back from ACen. Funimation had a booth where they were selling DVDs early, and I picked up Dragonball Kai and Soul Eater part 3. Oddly enough, there was no Seventh Voyage being sold there (not that I'd buy it anyway). However the rest of season 2 was being sold there.
On another note, Kai has a trailer for 7th Voyage, but Soul Eater has one for S3 First Voyage :P

Ah, forgot to mention this: Grundy said Apis was his favorite arc because it was the first whole arc he got to direct, and because it was whacky. He also got to do the entirely of Rainbow Mist, too.

Sounds like what I've heard about Grundy.
-
I got major lol's out of how bad the Curry episode is. I mean, I like when Sanji gets to show off his cooking skills as much as the next One Piece fan, but this episode felt more like a cooking show than an Anime episode.
-
I don't get the hate for that one. I find it one of the more tolerable fillers in One Piece.

It's tolerable, true. But extremely boring.
-
The trailer for Season 3, First Voyage is up on the official site (though it's mislabeled as Season 2, Seventh Voyage).
-
They also have the episode titles for Episode 144 - 156. And yes, the mention of God is back in the episode titles.

Naturally. It IS uncut and unedited, after all.
Ooo page 496 get.

FINALLY, Funimation is caught up we're gettin closer and closer to my favorite arc and we can watch it uncut

In terms of S2 7V clips I found one of the infamous Sanji/Zoro "almost" kiss. And the shippers rejoiced Also it sounds like Usopp is having a nightmare of Eyelash raping him or something lol

For a second, I thought Luffy said "Eyelid?" as some sort of strange refernce to Eyelash. T'was just "island", though. :J

I don't hate it, but I get bored of it halfway through. Like I said, it's like watching some guy bake a cake for a half hour. It did have some somewhat funny moments though in between.
-
besides that, the filler kid in that one ain't half as annoying as the worst filler kids - least not to me

What, you found that random Mini East Blue Marine girl annoying?
(Complete sarcasm)

I was right again :D Looks like S3V3 is coming… October 26th.
S3V4 should come December 21st, and G-8 should arrive February 15th. :D If the release schedule sticks, expect DBF on April 12th.

Awww, they changed Chopper's "The sea is a mysterious place" line. That blows.
I also wish they would get everybody together when the scene calls for lines to be said by the whole crew. It's painfully obvious that they are all different recordings overlapping each other.

Just curious, which ep. was that in?
-

Really… how do you figure that? It sounds exactly the same to me only in English.
-
Really… how do you figure that? It sounds exactly the same to me only in English.
Ummmm… listen to it, I guess.
They all say "in a" at different times/speeds, Chopper starts the word "book" before anybody else, and some of them put the emphasis on different parts of the word.
If I didn't speak English, I would have no idea what's going on after the word "interested". It's a complete mess.
That's what happens when you record lines individually and overlap them all together. You get a mishmash of different tempos, tones, and volumes.
This is what happens when you put all the actors in the same room. I can actually make out what they're saying better in the language I don't speak than Funi's version in the one I do.
This isn't a new problem. Go back and listen to any episode where two or more characters say the same line. It sounds horribly unnatural.
-
Hmm… I guess. I don't really care either way, though. Can't be helped, that's how FUNi, Viz and pretty much all anime dubbing studios do it.
-
No, actually it could be helped. It'd just be harder. That they don't do it doesn't mean it can't be done.
Just because Funi chooses to put all their voice actors in a soundproof closet doesn't mean they have to. The Japanese use the whole ensemble in one room as do, again referring to Batman: TAS, a bunch of western shows.
It is less convenient because you have to get everybody's schedules to fit and it's probably more expensive (at least to start), but it's also a superior way to do things.
-
I'm with you 100% Charagon. I honestly didn't notice they were recorded seperately until this set of DVD's actually. I just knew it didn't sound right, but never thought about it much until that book scene.
It is absolutely terrible how it sounds when they all scream the same thing.
-
By the way, it seems that RightStuf is finally having another FUNi sale, so if you haven't ordered the latest sets yet, now's probably a good time to do so.
-
Thanks Vegard, but how do I get this Funi sale?
found it, never mind!
