agreed with this WB in his prime was the only match for roger shanks wouldn't be able to fight him on even terms, but age has made him garp and sengoku much weaker (well I'm going out on a limb when I say sengoku)
and I think any yonkou is stronger than an admiral given a one on one fight no prior injuries this isn't to say it would be an easy fight but I think to be a yonkou you have to be a huge power yourself, and once you get admiral strength teammates is when you'll be getting into the yonkou levels

Sure there are a few differences in powers, but the whole powerlevel discussions like vice admiral strenght, admiral strenght, SB strenght, yonkou strenght and so on are imho bullshit.
did you ever consider the possibility, just for example, that shanks isn't a yonkou because he can slice melons with his mind but because he has an incredibly strong crew and reputation?
another example, what about moria? he surely isn't (wasn't) as strong as luffy, and without the whole zombie preparations shit he would lose a one on one but he actually WAS a SB.
The whole "level categories" in which the most people think are not only a matter of strenght, but also reputation and (don't know how to say it) "career" on the ocean.

That was because they were already well in (hours in) to the war fighting on their last legs to escape/kill the enemy and then a yonkou and his crew apparently at 100% arrive.

I really don't see how being a shonen has anything to do with power levels. Like shonen are always terrible story wise and it one big staircase to the strongest from the weakest. One Piece is definitely not a powerscale manga. Their are two types of opponents for Luffy. The ones he can beat and the ones he can't. Thinking realistically Enel's fruit was way to strong for Luffy to defeat though he won. Also some of the characters that Luffy has lost against can be beaten by Crocodile, Lucci or Moria.
Their are too many things to account for in a battle and Haki barely balance's that out if you ask me. Like Df abilities. I wouldn't go as far to say that Kaku would beat Daz easy at all or maybe not at all.

Judging from Saul's quote about him coming from a peaceful Island, leads me to think other Marine Giants come from, there and as a whole probably don't compare that great to Giants from somewhere with a warrior culture like Elbaf or Oars' tribe.

Not really. For all that I love the character, and for all that we talk about her potential, Robin hasn't really gotten a chance to shine - and when she does, it's only to make a single attack on an enemy before getting one-shot and taken down. Or rescued, by Zoro, Sanji, or Franky.

I'm just sayin'.

At Skypeia she did just fine on her own, but when Enel showed up, the others were getting attacked by freaking EL THOR and lightning wolves and dragons and tens of millions of volt attacks, but being the woman she gets taken down by a single unnamed bolt and pitied by Zoro's "…she's a woman!"
Enies Lobby, ok, she had cuffs on. But Spandam's abuse of her bordered on the fetishistic. And -- according to One Piece Green: ...she got cheated out of a fight with Califa. Her role in other media is minor at best: even in Strong World she only got to barely beat a single animal, and then get rescued by Sanji from a giant gorilla. At any other time she's basically lounging around until the ending and maybe taking out a few mooks with guns.
She's less helpless than Nami yet gets rescued more or just as much as her. I mean, look at Thriller Bark! She was rescued from Taleran, Sanji and Zoro's zombies, Oz MULTIPLE times, and after pulling off a single subtle post-Enies Lobby upgrade attack (Quatro Mano) on Moriah she got one-shot.
I mean, OK, I get that this is shonen but my girl has a serious losing streak going on. I want Oda to give Robin a serious just-for-her fight like she hasn't gotten since Skypeia (over 300 chapters ago!). And I want Oda to unwrite himself into the corner he has with her abilities, so we don't see her get taken down for nonsense reasons! When was the last time she pulled off something like this, or this, or this? Because I'm pretty sure if she sprouted 30 or a hundred arms on one dude she could FUCK HIM UP no matter who he was. Snatch the weapons out of the arms of her enemies and use them against themselves! …and yet, she doesn't.
If you want me to use a word that isn't 'fodder,' sure, I can do that. But the intent - and the disappointment - are the same.
