Actually, if I remember correctly, Broly actually just exploded for no apparent reason, rather than flying away, which is what Toei retconned it to.

Well Janemba in his first form was fat and child-like, and his second form was a smaller, more dangerous villain. What seperates Kid Buu from the second form is while Buu is basically psychotic, Janemba was serious when he changed.

Yeah it's not like a direct copy of the Freeza arc, but more like a run-on theme. It's like "What can we make that's more dangerous than Freeza? His pissed off older brother! And he has other forms too!"

An evil entity is unleashed into the world. It's fat, childlike, playful (but still dangerous). Then it becomes a crazed monster that only wants destruction. Goku and Vegeta have to fuse to beat it.

There was also the big involvement of the afterlife, which was also kind of a theme in the Boo saga.

Like I said they're not necessarily full-blown copies of the previous arcs, just similar themes being reused.

I forgot two others in my list: Bojack and Super 13 both definitely used major themes from the Android arc.

I know that Shounen doesn't make much sense at times, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a new level of ridiculous for DBZ. At least the other times Goku defeated an opponent because he's the main character some sort of logical explanation was given or attempted at. In Movie 8 we have a super punch from a half-dead man that causes explosions that can kill near-immortal powerhouses.

It was weird, but most of Movie 8 made little sense so it didn't bug me that much.

Of the movies I've seen, the only one I really liked mostly was 2…maybe 6 with some of the Goku/Vegeta teamup against Cooler but Movie 2 was a lot of fun. Heck, I even liked the way Slug was defeated in movie 4. (Gohan whistles and Piccolo literally rips out his ears...its just funny)

Trunks gets his sword because Goku (who was long dead by this time in the alt. timeline) beat some magical space demon, and some magical space swordsman gives Trunks his legendary magic space sword.

Another Future?! Anyway, the only Dragonball Z movies I remember are the three Ocean Group ones. Out of those, I would probably pick The World's Strongest as the best. But yeah, Pilaf Jr and Bizarro Goku isn't exactly top notch competition.

My favorite is actually the first one with Garlic Jr. I like adult Goku using power pole. I like the 4th one with Lord Slug too. Him freezing the entire world was pretty badass. Though, it was kind of retarted Goku didn't know he was a Namek until he took his helmet off.

I still think Bojack Unbound is the best movie. I saw it back when I was 11 years old, it was the first time viewing Dragonball Z in Japanese, and it was unbelievable. Let's not forget that practically everyone was in that movie.

As funny as Movie 12 tried to be, the whole thing wasn't as cool as I thought it would be (then again I saw the CN version that cut out the Hitler sequence). The only really brilliant part was fat Gogeta though. And 13 wasn't too bad until towards the end…not even counting the whole time paradox of "how in the world could Trunks get a sword from a crisis with a villain way more powerful than the Androids or Cell in an alternate timeline".

You've got a woman being left for dead, a child getting wasted on apples AND SINGING A SONG ABOUT IT, talk about competition for being a deity, a guy getting his shit served to him by Piccolo and a kid pissing in a guy's mouth.

Nowadays, that's NOTHING, but back when I was 13, it was like the sky opened up and angels flew down with a knowing grin saying, "Yes my son, we know."

Heroes' Lee Auditions for Dragon Ball Z Movie
During his November 11 panel at Pacific Media Expo in Los Angeles, actor James Kyson Lee (Heroes television series' Ando) said that he is trying out for the role of Yamcha in 20th Century Fox's live-action adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga. He says that the movie is planned for a 2010 release and that he approved of the script so far. heh, no seriously though, as long as there are no fake accents, I could care less who plays. There's no reason they MUST BE PUREBLOOD to play the role unless they speak Japanese. If they speak Japanese then they just sound bloody awful.

Ando would actually play a pretty good Yamcha. Although, Ando has been more successful with no powers where Yamcha hasn't done squat with superhuman strength and the ability to throw energy balls.

The Hollywood Reporter newspaper reports that Twentieth Century Fox has officially signed director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) and cast twenty-five-year-old Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible, Lost television series) in the lead role of Goku for the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball action manga. According to the Variety newspaper, filming is set to begin this month, and the film is slated to open worldwide on August 15, 2008. I didn't see Lost enough to know who this Chatwin is, and I havent seen War of the Worlds yet either.
