Sometimes I think they are hypin up, Ledger coz he passed away.

@Sandai:

you haven't seen it, so how would you know if they're ratings are too much?
-
I meant Ledger's performance not the movie I expect the movie to do better than Begins.
-

EDIT: Ah. Didn't see the follow-up post. I still disagree, since he seems to have nailed the part down better than anybody could, but I'll reserve the right to change my opinion after Friday mornin'.
-
Well one thing I will admit is that I don't mind him as the Joker as opposed to Jack Nicholson.
-
he blows nicholson outta the water. the performance looks awesome from what i saw. shoot.
i suspect it won't dissapoint, but we'll see.
-
ya from the commercials it seems like ledger is the best joker anyone could have done. hes psycho, has a freaky laugh, and is serious at the same time. i had my doubts the first time i saw the trailer, but hes grown on me :P
-
GUH, is it Friday night yet? This wait is killing me.
Also, I'm highly unhappy that I had a chance to see the Tumbler and Batpod in person in Toronto this weekend, and didn't hear anything about it til it was too late. D<
-
DUDE! are you SERIOS!! I WAS IN TORONTO THIS WEEKEND T_T
that would have been cool…..
don't tell me it was at that convention, cause we were gonna go, and then decided we were hitting up all the comic stores anyways, so why waste $15 each to get in...
-
Haha, just got two free movie tickets for this when it comes out.
Can't wait!

I know, right?! I'm SO mad about not being able to see them live and in person. Y_Y
They were showing them at the Eaton Centre on Saturday, I guess they're on a mini-promotion tour; of course I was stuck working so I couldn't go even if I DID hear about it sooner than 5pm.
(Hey, did you go to Hairy Tarantula on your comic-spree? They've got a slick selection of Manga and Comics, and are an instant go-to whenever I'm in the city.)
Mr. Lucci: Now how the hell did you score freebies?
-
XD and we were IN the eatons center, just on the lower floor though. I gotta tell my friend. he's gonna pee himself. XD
and hairy tarantula, you bet. they had kalidostar there (sp) and silver snail, and one million comix, game shack, game center, china town, and some other stores we found. and we went to red lobster for supper. :p
-
From what I'm hearing, I think this one is gonna be a masterpiece, plus it's possibly gonna make more then Iron Man (based on boxofficemojo, it already made $313,413,000)
I can't wait to see it
-
Y'know, when I first saw the Joker in a short trailer back in January, I had my doubts, but now, I'm really digging it.
-
the anticipation is killing me!!
-
I'll be seeing it Saturday, which seems to work fine. Friday would be packed (if it's really that anticipated around here), and Saturday would be less of a hassle.
-

Its going to out do Iron man.
-
Tickets are already sold out for the midnight showing at an Imax theatre over here, so I guess it is pretty anticipated even for a small town in Iowa.
-
Alright everybody, I just got from watching The Dark Knight and it was fucking AWESOME.
Heath Ledger stole the show. His performance was unreal, he was insane.
-
Is it better than Iron Man?
-
yes. yes it is…....
-
@bunshindattebayo:
Is it better than Iron Man?
Yes.
16 characters.
-
@bunshindattebayo:
Is it better than Iron Man?
It's the goddamn Batman, of course it's better than Ironman! Damn you and your lemonade!
! …and I mean no offense, this is a Batman joke
-
I got a question. I heard several months ago that the Joker was set to come back in later films. So my question is, now that Heath Ledger has passed did they have it so he actually does die? Or does things stay the same and they just intend for him to be portrayed by another actor?
I don't need spoilers, just an answer. Thank you.
-
Yes, ASB&R is awesome.
Rubes.

To be totally honest, no one knows what the plan is for future Bat-Flicks. We've heard Joker returns for #3, or Two-Face being the main villian, or was it The Riddler? And of course Catwoman, how can we forget her? No script is apparantly written for it (though with TDK a guaranteed hit before it hit theatres, they better get on it!).
If they tease Joker surviving in TDK, it's still no guarantee he'll be back. If they do choose to bring him back, they better pick a DAMN fine replacement or else they leave. Joker. ALONE.
-
Beware the TDK Wiki article: the plot is fully summerized there.
-
Judging from all the reviews I've been reading, I don't think the Joker is coming back. Ledger's performance is considered so perfect I don't think there's an actor in Hollywood or anywhere else who would even try.
But that's fine, I think. Batman has a very large rogue's gallery to work from. Let Ledger's Joker be the definitive.
-
This movie is multimedia crack.
there is nothing else to say
-
I just got back, and holy shit, holy fucking shit. I have to curse so much, because this movie was absolutely perfect. I won't let anyone ever tell me that Jack Nicholson's Joker is superior, because Ledger just exceeded my expectations. This movie was so freakin' awesome. Definitely the best super hero movie of all time in my honest opinion, and one of my favorites.
Suck it Iron Man.
This movie is multimedia crack.
there is nothing else to say
Bring on the Joker gifs.

^Did u see the Trailer/Teaser for Watchmen?
-
I saw the trailer for Watchmen and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
As for "The Dark Knight" it was perfect. A flawless experience. It exceeded my already phenomenally high expectations. I cannot wait to see it again.
-
Just got done watching it, and it was a DAMN GOOD movie.
Unfortunately, however, I missed 5 minutes to use the restroom.
Only 2 problems I had with the movie.
1st: Rachel. They couldn't get Katie Holmes in the movie, so they used Maggie Gyllenhaal? Terrible. They should have written her out.
2nd: It seems to be following the basic themes of Spiderman (movies) in what happenes with batman in each movie. (I could elaborate, but it would be giving away spoilers)
-

May I recommend comparing the scenes from the trailer to the panels in the book? Granted some of the outfits changed, but that's no biggy it doesn't ruin anything.
Anyways this movie comes out next week in mi country; we got Wanted instead this week.

Wow….No villain has ever made me actually feel uncomfortable the way Joker did! Ledger did something nobody has ever done. He was so menacing. He basically made that whole movie, and if anyone says that he was overrated...Go watch the film, and you will see how a true villain should be. Best super hero movie, and one of the best action movies period.
-

replacing her with a better actress
! and then killing her seems pretty final to me
EDIT: whoops
-
Oi, Taleran, couldja put your comment under spoilers quotes plz? At least for another day or two.
-
so i saw it…....
er......twice.
i had a free ticket cuz i got batman begins limited edition~! so i used it. xD
I MAY SAY SPOILERS, KINDA SORTA, SO STEER CLEA FROM HERE ON IN.
! joker is the most evil villain ever. this movie is amazing.
! BUT THE JOKER WAS PHENOMINAL. absolutely perfect. amazing, flawless. without the joker, the movie wouldn't be NEARLY as good. heath ledger simply MAKES this movie.
! but harvey dent sure as hell helped. he turns into such a ruthless character when he's out fer vengeance, it's ridiculous.
! HE LOOKS AWESOME. doesn't make a lot of sense (he wouldn't be able to talk as clearly with half his lips missing. but why would i complain?) but he looks so awesome. real-looking enough, i'd say. doesn't look like it would really happen, like, but it certainly looks real enough.
! MORE ON JOKER. i dunno how to explain. but, when he's in the interrogation room with batman, and he's talking about how batman will be cast out, he barely seems real. like, he almost seems animated with an AMAZING computer. he just seems so cartooney, and flows, and the way he moves, it's amazing.
! i honestly think heath should get best supporting actor. -
Why did I like it?
Because the Joker was a living breathing version of his Animated Series self. And he was a hard PG-13 version at that.
People might say Mark Hamill isn't the end-all Joker. Well….no shit. It was just his voice. But the melding of his voice, the writers and animation staff MADE him what he was. He transcended just one man and he was something entirely else.
Ledger succeeded in making that 'something' into someone.
I never EVER thought HE of all people could do it, but he did with flying colors. He made that Joker that I adored as a munchkin into a real-life menace and it was awesome.
No one will portray the Joker again in this series of Batman films. Not as a main character anyway. Not only would it be a disservice to his role, but a disservice to fans. To see anyone else try to top that while in this same saga, it would be a sin. Furthermore, even if he was alive I think it would be just as much a sin to try and make him portray that character again. He is what we have and it's the ultimate prank if you will. We'll always want more but that's what we've got and it won't be topped anytime soon.
-
Saw it last night during the midnight showing and damn I think I've finally recovered! The Joker was unbelievably, Ledger did the role better justice than I could of ever imagined. Aaron Eckert was also great as Harvey Dent. He really brought the role alive! Man, what a great flick. Can't wait until part 3.
-
To see anyone else try to top that while in this same saga, it would be a sin.
I don't think they should aspire to top it so much as be good in the role in their own kind of way like Ledger.
-
It is impossible to over-hype this movie! I just saw it today and it went soaring above my unrealistically high expectations! It is on such a high level of quality that all other comic book hero movies before it look like cartoons for children. This movie is the real deal. They can't make a third. This movie completes the first! It concludes far too well! Perhaps the best movie I have ever seen. I can't think of a better movie at the moment.
IT'S A TRUE MASTERPIECE!!!
-
It is impossible to over-hype this movie!
What about over-rate?
They can't make a third.
Why not?
-
@Sandai:

Even that wouldn't be good enough. The Joker needs to be written out of any possible appearances for the third movie, as terrible as that may sound.
-
They could try to substitute Joker with Harley somehow for the third movie. His line about giving Gotham a new class of criminals gave them some leeway for introducing other villians, and she would seem a bit fitting (not making her the main villian of course, but having her fit in somewhere).
Saw it with one of my friends earlier, and I fucking loved it but… were me and the guy I saw the movie with the only ones who laughed at the pencil scene? Everyone else in the theater were either quiet or cringed at it, but just about everyone was laughing when he was slicking his hair back while walking over to Racheal.
-
Yeah I bursted out in laughter from the pencil trick. It was unexpected. But when Batman rode up that wall with the motorcyle….I spazzed out. It was so sick. Hell, Joker seemed like the real joker...Cartoony, menacing, and crazy. It was so awesome. I love this damn movie. Can anything else top it?
-
@Sandai:
What about over-rate?
Why not?
Why do you always do this?
-
It's an honest question.
