Well… It seems I'm pretty bad at rants if you can take it apart and spot the fatal flaws.
Never mind about that. If Ao Kiji is buying the dvd for the subs, that's fine.
E-Mail CN about their Canceling/Temp Removing of One Piece!!

Err… so we're not talking about the e-mail thing anymore?
I foresee thread closure very soon.

Well, besides, we all have opinions. If Ao Kiji hates the whole dub for some reason, no matter how silly, we should accept it as opinion and not fact.
What is fact though is the removal of the good One Piece from Toonami for 4Kids reruns/new show. -
@Lobster:
They got the the episode where Brogo lays waste to all the demons on the surface of the castle. So basically, it stopped right before the battle with the 4th Heavenly King, and Sherry vs. Zophise
The worst place to stop in the entire series.
Disgraceful
Well actually its because they couldn't get the rest of the episodes,
like how 4kids couldn't get the rest of Mew Mew Series -
Actually, it's a little something called hiatus. It happens to all shows. Don't worry, FUNimation's One Piece will be back. Just as soon as Cartoon Network either has a mind stiff enough to take out a Naruto time slot or give it another time slot,
-
They noticed, or did we point it out for them? It makes you wonder what they could miss if we're not there to show them.
He also mentions their lack of character specific quirks.
Read his posts closer, it has nothing to do with things being "edited". But it did affect his enthusiasm to watching the show on TV.
Again, I ask. Why do you care if he likes the dub or not?
The only "quirk" that they missed was Luffy's mystery lines. Which I believe they've picked up on now. Other than that, all quirks have been kept. Down to Chopper yelling "Doctor doctor!" and to Usopp telling people about his "I-Can't-Go-To-This-Island" disease.
He's saying that he wants to show his friends a dub of One Piece that would make them change their opinion of it after the whole 4Kids dub fiasco. Now I ask you, what's wrong with showing them the FUNi dub? 'Cause it'll do that just fine… If the people are going to be interested in One Piece, anyways.
And it bothers me because, as I said, the reasons he doesn't like the dub are for the most part going to be fixed. Why are you going to dislike a whole production on one or two mistakes which are few and far between and not that big a deal to begin with? At least not so big that it should "alter" the spirit of One Piece?
Makes no sense. I'm fine with someone not liking the dub, but they gotta give good and logical reasons and factor in that a good deal of the stuff will be fixed. Not this.
At the very least, I'd say wait 'till the uncut DVDs come out before you have your final say on the dub.
-
What do we know, we have our very own viewtifulboy on this forum. And I mean in the best way. I define a 'viewtifulboy', based off viewtifulboy as someone who gives facts and doesn't back them up and doesn't even give stuff that could change opinions a chance. Sure Skypeia will be uncut, but then he'll say it won't be and that Robin will still be bitchy, for Eneru's sake, IT'LL BE FIXED!
Can we get back to the matter at hand? That is CN dropping the FUNimation episodes of One Piece.
-
Guys, I seriously doubt One Piece is being dropped. It's not like it's unusual for shows to go on breaks. Yeah, it's gonna suck a little to not have One Piece on for a while, but I truely, truely think this is just a break. It'll be back. It may take weeks, it may take a couple months, but One Piece is going to come back to CN. When Funimation announces that they aren't dubbing anymore, THEN you can be upset.
-
its proboly only for like 5 weeks.
-
The episodes aren't being dropped. We've already received confirmation from Mike MacFarlane on this as he's busy dubbing Season 3 RIGHT NOW.
It's a hiatus. One Piece has had it before in the States.

Other than being relieving news, I think that should be grounds for this thread's closure
-
I think that someone needs to give Cartoon Network a nice verbal spanking
So who's up for it?

What is in the US season three? CP9?
-
Season 3 of One Piece in the United States is Jaya/Skypiea/G8.
-
nice to know its still going on. I dont have much to watch on TV.
-
Well… It's going to be on 'till April. That's when it gets off.
-
Now all we need to know is what about IN April…
I hope Bakugan is just the one night... that would make Perfect Sense...
ONE night on Toonami to promote it, and then Saturday and Sunday mornings only from then on. -
For what it's worth, CN released a press release for shows airing in March and April and… no mention of One Piece.
It does mention Naruto, Pokemon, Blue Dragon and the like so... yeah... not a good sign.
-
@Sandai:
So they made them use Zolo,Mantora,Wyler,& Noland?
Ummm, yes. Welcome to six !@#$ing months ago!
-
@Sandai:
So they made them use Zolo,Mantora,Wyler,& Noland?
Yes, yes they did. Except Noland can basically go either way.
-
Norland just kind of sounds better I'll just leave at that so no blood gets spilt.
-
What the fuck.
Seriously, what the FUCK!
Adult Swim is REMOVING ALL ANIME from Monday thru Thursdays. Yes, you heard me right. So much for Samurai Champloo getting a second run. Oh, and you won't believe this: Code Geass is premiering on April 26th at 1:30am! That is the worst possible time slot for a premiere.
I tell you, between them sending One Piece to purgatory and now this shit, I fucking hate Time Warner. The should seriously go to hell.
-
Guys
cartoons.
It'll be okay.
Just find other ways to spend your weekend evenings.

It's a rip, though. I know you don't care about the anime, but we finally got a good dub just for CN to take it out. Which will prompt Toei to do who knows what.
104 4Kids episodes. 24 FUNi. It's a rip. Yes, it shouldn't be a big deal. But it still feels like a big rip to me.

@Ao:
This week's episode where she said "Nami you have a serious greed problem" was delivered with a boatload of condescension and snarkiness. I definetely considered it bitchy altho not nearly as bad as she was a few weeks ago.
Personally, I love the way Unlimited Adventure was directed as far as voices. If only Funi could take a cue from that director.- Hence the "Almost", the past 3 or 4 weeks besides that episode she had no emotion at all.
- Chris Sabat did the voice direction for Unlimited Adventure, according to the Credits.
-
- Hence the "Almost", the past 3 or 4 weeks besides that episode she had no emotion at all.
In the past three or four weeks she's spoken about a half dozen times. And at least two of those times were in 'snark mode'.
It may be only a bad line every other week, but it's still a good percentage of her dialogue.

Saw this yesterday. I could honestly care less about FMA being cut, but GitS and Sam-Cham are both series I highly enjoy and wanted to see again (especially the latter, since this was probably the last chance they'll have to show it on TV before their license expires). Stupid? Yes. Yes, especially since they're making the 5-6 AM blocks into the Super Ultimate Inuyasha Power Hour. AGAIN. Though the fault there may be with the fans just as much as the bigwigs–the fans say the love it but then don't watch it, prompting AS to take it off the air, causing the fans to bitch and moan like it's the end of the fucking world, so AS puts it back on, at which point the fans responsible for the bitching sit down and…don't watch it. It's a horrible, vicious cycle.
Actually, that pretty well sums up most anime on AS, doesn't it? But as much as I abhor behavior like that, it's proven to work. I guess the best thing we can hope for is that those poor social rejects do enough bitching to make AS reconsider this change.
To be honest, though, it could be worse. They did put some decent stuff on in place of the anime, after all (possibly excepting Home Movies). I mean, how much would it suck if they'd put up low-budget in-house shit like Saul of the Mole Men or 12 oz. Mouse?
Either way, this doesn't affect me too drastically. Just means I won't have quite as much to watch during USA Network's nightly movie.
Still sucks about One Piece, though.
-
First of all, I think their putting Code Geass late because it's highly violent, and that won't matter, because Inuyasha use to be on late and look how popular it was when there was new episodes of it.
Anyway, about this…lets just wait and see what will really happen
-

Maybe they could pick up One Piece. CN obviously doesn't give two shits about it, and AS is in desperate need of a hit.
-
Before you suggest Adult Swim again, think carefully. Putting it on Adult Swim may send the wrong message to 'SOME' fans that One Piece is a teen/adult show when infact, it isn't. It's a kids show in japan.
-
Who the heck wants to stay up that late?
-
Adult Swim is REMOVING ALL ANIME from Monday thru Thursdays.
I don't even make an attempt to watch anime that late on a weeknight, so personally, on this matter, I could go either way.
-
They probably cancelled it due of low ratings.
Except back when Zatch Bell was on Toonami, it got higher ratings than 4Piece did…
The only reason they cancelled it was to focus on Naruto (yeah, VIZ is a terrible company like that).

Yes, it's a kids show in Japan, but both countries go by different broadcast standards. Here, if it ran uncut, it'd be considered a teen/adult show. That's the sad truth.
I mean, heck, Bleach is airing on Adult Swim, and that's just as much of a kids show as One Piece is.
-
Saw it coming, AS has been giving anime a lot of shit lately. Most people think they were just kidding, apparently not.
I just don't want the block filled with shit like Tim and Eric and Home Movies…
Adult standards here or not, OP would die on AS. It's not AS material just cause it was blood.
-
It would be fine to air One Piece Movie 8 on Adult Swim, right after DBZ
It would be fine. But just a movie. Not the series
-
No Lobster, the movie can't be shown on AS either. It would still be considered One Piece even though it's in movie form.

holy crap, how can you compare Tim and Eric to Home Movies? The animation may not be first rate, but it's by far the smartest show to waltz into adult swims idiot fest of a late night block. Well, besides Venture bros…
-

Then they wouldn't have to cut the heck out of it.

But Funimation has already made an edited version of movie 8 in case CN wants to air it.
-
It's going to be "ultra" lame edited. No face shots. Only "implied" hits
yea.. if they edit it like they do the TV series, then it's going to be painful to watch.
-

Sorry, I just don't care for the series. Only reason I ever give it a glance nowadays is for a tad bit of nostalgia (it's not very large, cause it wasn't that long ago) of AS's creation.
-
What else is Adult Swim going to air on weekdays? Half of their comedy block is shit.
When is this change happening anyway?
