@skarlath:
Hate the way Robin has had the classic, "I was a bad-guy with almost infinite power, but now it's all gone!"
Seriously, I love that she kills people, KILLS PEOPLE (quite an achievement in One Piece) with her clutch, but she's now ALWAYS against people that for some reason, can't be clutched. They're always too big. And that is simply crap.
Er, I do not want to flame you, but I must correct you that Robin never killed ANYONE in the history of One Piece. She only incapacitated. She did it to Pell, the Marines, Tashigi, etc. No one has ever died, only probably passed out of sheer pain and sleeper holds, even Spandam. She never had any "infinite power", she has always known her limits. If she had infinite power, she wouldn't have had to run away from the Marines for 20 years.
But to give my own views.
Luffy is the guy that wants to protect anyone from suffering, because he feels guilty for having Shanks to lose his arm over him. He is a selfless person when he fights for others, and that is repsectable as hell.
Zoro is the typical straight man to Luffy's crazy man, and he manages to be great as the first mate when Luffy is not thinking right. From the fight with Usopp and to the current business with Thriller Bark, he manages to bring out valid arguments. Plus he can use a sword with his mouth! How insane is that!
Nami…oh, mellorine, how I love thee! She maybe greedy, but it is always in a humorous way. She is thinking about the welfare of the crew, no matter how miserly she may be, she just doesn't want money being spent inappropiately. She used to be weak and helpless, but since the Alabasta arc she managed to prove herself as an intelligent fighter, quick on her feet and brains to counter her enemies. Her best move so far is the Fata Morganna, in my opinion.
Usopp has grown up every arc...starting from Little Garden, he has become more and more reliable. His uncanny accuracy is impressive: when he saved Robin from Spandam and the Marines, you can't help but be in awe of how great a sniper he is. Also, his ability to lie has helped him out greatly too; he beat Choo with various tricks, he faked out Mr.5 with a Tabasco ball by saying it was a gunpowder ball, he managed to get Miss Merry Christmas knocked out by her own teammate, and recently scared the crap out of Perona with fake cockroaches and a balloon hammer. He has gotten so good at lying, others can't feel but compelled to believe him.
Sanji is a great guy because he helps out the starving and is hilarious when he tries to gain the attention of women. His leg strength is no laughing matter though, he can kick up a storm like nobodies business. He can kick almost anything without breaking a sweat, and his newly revealed ability Diable Jambe makes it even crazier. He is really intelligent too; he manages to get the Strawhats out of a jam with incredible foresight, like a cook preparing a dish ahead of time. He got Baroque Works off their back by telling Crocodile they were eliminated, he used the perfume he gave Nami to track her down with Chopper's nose, he created a distraction in front of Rain Dinners so he can save the group from drowning, ruined the machinery in Maxim to stall Enel's progress and reopened the Gates of Justice so the Buster Call would be incapacitated. Also...his eyebrow cracks me up.
Chopper is too damn cute to be a doctor, dammit. His cuteness belies his intelligence and strength though, which is pretty cool if you think about it. His medical knowledge saved the group several times...Nami and her disease, Usopp after the Miss Merry Christmas/Mr.4 fight, Zoro and Sanji from frostbite (from Aokiji), Robin and Luffy after their freezing...his current conflict with his former idol Dr.Hogback seems to have really pissed him off, so he is still being developed as a character. Plus that Monster form is really something else...
Robin...ah, what a sad story she has. To become a fugitive at such a young age, merely for the fact that she knows more than she should is just terrible...and from the government, none the less! To be hated by the world, to say her existence is a sin, to have lost everything she has known in one single day...you can't even imagine how it would feel like to grow up like that. Thanks to her determination to learn the history of the world and hope to find a family who would accept her not as a sin but a person is truly touching. Aside from the Enies Lobby Arc, she always has a great intuition about things, and her knowledge and wisdom has been an immense asset to the Strawhats from the day they let her in the crew. She is motherly in various aspects, such as being the calm one in situations of panic, in hopes to cool the crew as well. However, she sometimes is too calm, that it becomes humorous. She is very honest, blunt and always matter-of-factly. This is because she has a vast understanding of the world; almost nothing surprises her, with the exception of learning something new.
Franky just joined the crew, but he is really likeable due to he is like a teenager in a 30+ year-old body. Always wearing speedos, flashy shirts, and showing off skin, he is unabashed in his appearance. However, underneathe the skin and metal, he is a huge softy...he cries over any emotional thing, which cracks me up. He is like the "tank" of the group, using his whole body to shield any disaster coming toward his friends way, much like the ships he used to build. Like they always say, "don't judge a book by its cover", so don't judge Franky by his Speedos.
