Searched for an official thread and couldn't find any.

I just recently started reading it and I must admit it's not bad at all. Some would say it's a substandard Berserk but I don't really agree. The artstyle is particular, kinda uncluttered and not really manga like. The female characters are for the most part extremely well designed even if they have a tendency to look the same, and the Awakened beings are awesome.

Storywise it doesn't try to be as deep as Berserk but what it does it does well. The relationship between Clare and Raki is quite moving I think, and the mysteries of the Claymore organization are pretty interesting. I also like the fact most of the strong characters are female, that's a nice change from the usual helpless shonen heroines.

Anyway, what's your take on this?

I always thought of it as kind of a "Berserk: for her."

I read it for a while, it captured my interest, and the anime don't look none too bad either.

I'll have to restart this series where I left off. Last I read was around volume 4 or 5.

i've never read claymore but i'm currently watching the anime which just started (we're at ep8 right now). and after the first episode i was afraid it would turn out to be very classic but i've changed my mind quickly.

the claymores have a very interesting personality and i can't wait to see what will happen next. the plot might turn out into a very gore one, so i'm waiting with excitement. well, more developed analysis in a few episodes i guess.

Comparing Claymore to Berserk is almost guaranteed, but I don't see it as fair given CM is a shounen piece and is likely going to adhere to shounen formulae more than Miura going batcrazy with whatever he wants to do however long he wants to do it.

The anime is alright, but it's very generic - not that it looks generic. No, the plot points themselves are so cliche it's almost disgusting. During the Teresa arc the show leans more toward the original, but ultimately the series as a whole hasn't emerged beyond that.

For manga readers - I've heard that, for whatever reason, Clare has developed some weird crush on Raki.

As a Claymore.

That's not really a crush… Just the standard ambiguous shonen love. But anyway from what I understood there's a time skip later in the manga (didn't reach that part yet) so NO PEDO.

Well, just to give some insight into my impression, I saw a scan of Clare in the timeskip (I believe) with a huge smile on her face going, "There's very special person dear to me who I long to see in the near future" (paraphrase), which, contrasted with the "…" or the "get out of my face it's dangerous around here" from early in the manga, is frankly a little weird.

It's especially weird knowing Claymores, while once human, are supposed to be mangled bodied robots and couldn't be able to (nor want to) shag up normal people than a tractor trailer could Getter Robo.

well clare is only 1/4 yoma since she only took in teresas flesh, and it won't be very long until you see clare show her true feelings toward raki maybe like 5 eps maybe

Claymore, Claymore… I think I have read few chapters of it long time ago but it didn't catch my interest. Never the less, it wasn't bad I suppose.

! Ophellia is one sexy psycho bitch. She's currently my fav. character and her naga form is pretty badass too.
Kickass series and Viz's releases of it seem good too and will plan to purchase them.
Saw 2 eps. of the anime and so far so good. Faithful from what I've seen, but with a few additions from what I've seen, tho I really hope the anime gets better and doesn't come out crappy.

Speaking of Ophelia, is it OK if I request some images of her from the anime and/or GIFs? Or should I ask in the 'Request a pic' thread?

What makes you say that? I didn't notice any drop in quality, the artstyle actually improved and seem both cleaner and more detailed now. Things seem pretty exciting actually with the classical shonen timeskip and the anticipated return of old characters.

I got a look at volume 1 the other day at Waldenbooks, I was pretty impressed. The art style is so different, I read that a bunch on this topic. I didn't have my wallet on me though, so I didn't buy any books. If I need to get into another series soon, I'll keep this in mind.

Speaking of the anime, I have to admit it's pretty faithful, but damn was ep. 11 ALL TALK, I'm surprised I finished reading the chapter all that blah blah blah was in in less than 5 minutes…

There's a new magazine called Jump Square that'll replace Monthly Jump in November apparently. So we'll probably have one Theresa Gaiden chapter by month in Shonen Jump til the new magazine is on sale and we go back to the current Claymore storyline.

Well, I've started watching the anime and finished until epi 18 in 5 days (that's a lot for me)...I just want to know if the anime follows the manga (the most part of it)

BTW- Scene 2 is out, if it's more Teresa action, the freaking better!

Yeah, the dialogue in Monster went along smoothly. There was sometimes a dramatic pause, but it always fit into the situation.

It was a long anime, though. 74 episodes. Got the entire thing on the good ol' external hard drive. Fucking love Monster.

I thought it went along quite quickly considering it got like… 5 volumes or so in 8 episodes unlike the bigger shows, but then again Claymore is only aimed for 26 episodes.

after hearing everybody saying that the ending of the anime might be slightly different than the manga, i started downloading the last one. first of all, it's nice to see how the anime follows exactly the manga but it's sad to see how bad the drawings of the series are. i'm up to vol 7 and i hope that will improve drastically in the next 2 3 volumes.

After i read this thread i gave claymore a try and must say its really good
It has a interesting story and nice plot twists.

Artwork: very nice landscapes.good pacing during fighting scenes. Overall good drawing.
That all cities and girls and their equipment look alike is intentet.You get this everyone is replaceable feeling,that fits perfect into the story.

story: nice development of the maincharacters. good devoloped side chracters. An overall interesting storyplot.Two very nice cesura in the
story til now.The girls as though warriors theme is amusing,too.
The author has no problem killing characters for the ongoing of the storyplot.(somethin Bleach completly messed up)
He really caught some war athmosphere with this.

I found it very enterteining and i hope the story will be finsished in a few years. There are only a few mysteries about the abysal ones and the claymore organsitaion unresolved yet.

Agreed, I also was down at the art of the anime, but man was I FREAKING disappointed with Flora's voice, she sounds like a freaking 10 year old kawaii character or something. Well Ep. 19 is gonna be kickass tho

Yeah, episode 20 had some changes.
That was to be expected though, they need an ending..

The Raki fillers went to ridiculous levels in ep 22.

I started out enjoying Claymore, but the anime keeps shitting on some of the better parts, namely Clare's fight with Rigald. Besides just completely fucking up the tempo of Clare's fight, they're doing it in a way that has the potential to completely change events surrounding Raki.

Although, it may still work out in the end, since Raki should eventually find out about Priscilla in the manga at some point.

My only hope is that they somehow do it correctly.

! Miata & Clarice are looking for Galatea and seem to get into some kind of trouble, mainly due to Clarice. They get helped by some thief or such and go to his gang's hideout. From there Miata seems to find Galatea posing as a churchperson. As the battle ensues it seems that Galatea has gone blind.
Either that or it's another Claymore in hiding
Miata may very well require a charge up after this fight :V.
BTW have Viz or whoever released Vol. 9+ of the manga in US?

The witchblade anime i recently watched, in a way, reminded me very much of claymore. Some guys breeding warrior babes, each generation surpassing the previous one just as planned. But the younger the girls are, the more nuts and so they're gradually replacing demons and the like as the main problem.
