I think Ryūsei Nakao could voice either Hogback or Moria.
Chapter 455 "King of the Depths: The Shichibukai - Gekko Moria" Discussion
-
-
I believe the fight's will probably happen like this. Sanji, Zoro and Luffy will fight their shadows FIRSt, and THEN fight the bosses. That would be pretty good. Usually in the fights the Mugiwara never fight more than 1 boss. It's nice to see them give their all to beat themselves, and then take on a brand new boss.
In others news…
I believe the mysterious 3's powers are almost completely revealed
Absalom has like an invisible laser beam and it causes lots of damage.
Perona uses the ghosts to capture people.
Hogback is unknown. But when he's fighting Chopper I presume that he will have like an army of zombies that he sows up from freezer. Possibly he has other techniqes.
Moria is pretty obvious, but I hope his devil fruit is advanced on. The only thing can't be just stealing shadows... I mean if Luffy doesn't have his shadow, then he can kick Moria's ass. -
But the question is, will Luffy's zombie really have same abilities as the original? I mean, if it uses Gear 2nd, it'll literally burst into flames since it's body is not made of rubber!
But that would look awesome and terrifying during the battle, that the zombie continues to fight even though it's on fire!
-
Actually, I would like to have Zoro fight the Sanji zombie, and Sanji to fight the Zoro zombie. Or at least have a scene where the two zombies fight each other over a comment about a woman.
Although I do agree that the zombie couldn't use Luffy's fighting style because the zombie does not have the Devil's fruit.
-
The side story needs more fucking Enel.
That's just what I was about to say. Where is he, anyway?
-
**He's on your moon.
Eating your cheese.**
-

Nah, that would totally suck since Sanji´s shadow is inside of a weakling that got raped easily by Absalom while Jigoro is more worthy to contain Zoro´s shadow inside. Zoro vs. Ryuma and Brook vs. Jigoro would be much more on the same level then throwing "Dogpen" in here.
That's just what I was about to say. Where is he, anyway?
Hey is not there yet because we´re still in the flashback of Spacey. :getlost:
-
Looking at Bearsy, you can see that he has a doctor's mask over his face, presumably to remind him to never talk. How ironic that he is the only one who knows where they are, but isn't allowed to say anything to Perona. Even Absalom feels sorry for him.
Of course, I'm sure he felt VERY violated the moment those three decided to climb into his back. I would like to see a Bearsy plush toy or something.
-
Why would Sanji and Dogpen fight? Those two would get along way too well. That and he's probably "dead" (as in, gone until the end of the arc) right now. His role was similar to that of most of the Sandorian tribe members: he was just there to help showcase a villain's power.
But Sanji vs. Absalom is a fight no one can deny will occur. Speaking of which, our perverted lion friend is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in this arc.
-
I hope if Moria does fight that he has to like grabs the objects shadows and is able to pick up an object via the shadow and throw it at this enemy(probably Luffy) or pick/pin people by tripping grabbing their shadows.
-

Why not just throwing the objects at the enemy instead?
-
I get the idea Moria is just a lazy good for nothing who without his shadow stealing and his trio of helpers ability would be a no one.
-
I have this theory where the scissors are this [insert long mystical theory here] which is he reason why they can cut shadows, but due to their intense power, one must possess strong might in order to operate them. Hence why Moria is a giant. Eventually Franky enters and breaks the scissors thus ending any further shadow extractions, also further proving my theory that Franky's main roles in stories shal always be limited to using his brute strength to break big things.
-
I see it coming… moria will put luffys' shadow in Gol D Rogers body!
j/k tho I can't wait the match ups for the mugiwara... there will for sure be lots of great fights. -
I see it coming… moria will put luffys' shadow in Gol D Rogers body!
You know, I cringed everytime I heard someone say that but right now after reading this chapter I somehow…well don´t think it is that unlikely.
-
And if Moria cuts off the shadow but the shadow manages to escape, does it eventually dissipate without an owner?
It will probably return to the owners body like it did when brook "purified" the spider monkey
I definitely don't expect to see Brooke join now. his purification technique seems set for this arc only. I can't really see a perverted humming priest staying on long-term.
i think his "purification technique" consists of killing the zombie. If damaged enough the zombies can probably not hold on to a soul/shadow anymore.
I really doubt he is a priest of any kind.
(Edit: seems other mentioned this through out the thread)If Moria's power is to make shadows into solid, then maybe his fighting style includes using shadows as weapons by making them (shadow) solid!
What is the point of solidifying the shadow of a weapon if he can simply use the weapon in the first place?
(also it seems to me that the shadow has a form of bond with the soul so an inanimate object (named katanas excluded) would perhaps not be affected by Morias power)So, it's a fact that Moria isn't a giant (maybe a half-giant breed). If you look closely when the 3 sinister ones meet Moria, one the little soldiers is standing next to what is most likely Absalom's foot, meaning they're just really small.
Like I said before too, his teeth look nothing like when he first showed up without revealing his face. Also, what's up with his long neck??? Not to mention that he's patched all the way down his neck.
The perspective is not a good one to judge their hight next to Absoloms foot. i suggest you use page 18 where they are handeling the light instead.
i agree with you about his apearance changeing and im kinda dissapointed it did.what i want to know is: if they were only interested in Luffy. Zoro and Sanji's shadows why the bloody mary did they put Sanji's in the penguin body? shouldnt they have used something stronger?
-
I don't expect the Luffy + Moria fight to be spectatculaur. After beating all his zombies and the top three guys, Moria is giving vibes due to his fat appearance, catch phrase and style of working that he isn't much else.
If the 7 Shichibukai ended up representing the 7 sins, lol, I'll comfirm we've found sloth. And sloth is never the glamour sin.
-
You know, I cringed everytime I heard someone say that but right now after reading this chapter I somehow…well don´t think it is that unlikely.
haha yeah I know what you mean… all those "dead guys return" theories... i can't stand em... anyhow moria wouldn't do that because brook stated that moria doesn't want to create zombies stronger than him, since they will disobey his orders. Luffys' shadow + Rogers body would probably be increadible strong lol.
-

Yeah, but would it be as strong as Roger really was? I mean technically speaking the body would be the car and the shadow would be the driver. And even the best car can´t live to its fullest potential if the driver can´t handle it. At least that´s how interpret it to be.
Point is, Moria already has Luffy´s shadow. So he´s aware that it´s not the spirit of a nobody but that doesn´t seem to bother him much. If by any point Moria thinks that the shadow/body relation is somehow like in the car analogy I just discribed then he wouldn´t fear Rogers body because in his eyes Luffy who has a lower bounty then him does the zombie make. The other way around I´m sure the situation would be different.
-
Wow, great chapter I have to say. As for Moria, well he looked as I imagined him to be~
The other way around I´m sure the situation would be different.
Same here, I dont think its effect would go as he planned when it comes to someone like Luffy or the others.
-
since moria has been revealed i wonder if a theme for this site is coming.
this arc is really starting to get good moria looks allsome.
luffy zombie cant used gear due to the fact that rubber body organs and such is needed. -
Man, I just hate Moria's look completely. But on the other hand, I still give Oda points for giving Moria a design I didn't expect. Kudos
-
ima bit disappointed in moria's design but brookes back and this chapter is awesome
-
Moria looks interesting. Definitely didn't expect his head to be that thin. The original glimpse made him seem like he had a pudgy face.
Absalom's seiyu should definitely be somebody that sounds boring.
-
Ah the wait is over, thx BF!
-
Am I the only one who has really no idea what is going on with the Eneru on the Moon story..
Though I like Brooke more with this chapter~
-
Enel's mini-series is going the same direction Sky piea did - everywhere that is nowhere.
-
Sweet chapter. See Gecko Moria looks alot like Oogie Boogie. With the fat belly and long neck and everything. Makes sense since NBC is Oda's favorite movie.
-
I'm really happy that Oda gave us a great chapter. The 2 week chapter was quite annoying, so he threw in a simply amazing chapter. It showed Gecko Moria, explained his technique, bounty, and a lot about Thriller Bark. Not to mention Luffy's shadow is OUT and we get to see zombie 900 next chapter. Can't wait.
-
since moria has been revealed i wonder if a theme for this site is coming.

luffy zombie cant used gear due to the fact that rubber body organs and such is needed.maybe the "perfect zombie's" organs can handle the stress?
-
That´s actually also a scenario that popped into my mind. I´m not too sure that it might happen but it is not unlikely especially if you consider that it is a cliffhanger element to make readers/viewers think "now they´re screwed" only to have the "ahh, wasn´t that bad as expected" experience the next chapter/episode. The whole Strawhat vs. CP9 fight was full of these elements for instance.
Yeah, that's what I had in mind. It showed up in Skypiea and Alabasta too. Only Alabasta a little late O_O
About that, I'm buying it like this:
Chopper fights Hogback, Usopp fights Perona and Nami fights Absalom. They beat them to dust, they're humans after all.
Franky, Robin and Brooke beat struggle with the General Zombies.
All done with the element of fighting against time, surviving untill the trio wakes up. Just when Moria is about to finish Team Useless, Luffy comes in. Just when the General Zombies are about to finish Franky, Robin and Brooke, Zoro comes in. They combo to get all the zombies.
Sanji's doing a trick to set Thriller Bark to get out of the Florian Triangle.Yeah, It's a stretch, but I'm with it.
What do you say people?Hell yeah, this is what I love about Oda. If you divide it down to the lowest common dominator there´s a handful of core plot elements that constantly reapear in the story BUT Oda always wraps them around in so many different and interesting ways that it is always a whole new experience to see it happen. That´s creativity. To mold the same concept into lots of different molds.^^
I saved that piece of golden text in a txt file if you don't mind. ^^

why isnt the shadow luffy wearing the shadow straw hat? (should be on his back but it seems to be missing completly)
does this mean Moria cant solidify objects shadows?
-
Am I the only one who has really no idea what is going on with the Eneru on the Moon story..
I've spelled it out before, I might as well do it again:
Dr. moonwatcher choked on his new years bun after seeing an explosion on the moon caused by the Space Pirate's mining activities. In order to avenge their creator's death, the spaceys used balloons to travel to the moon and try to stop the explosions.
The spaceys got wiped out by the space pirates, at which point Enel entered the picture and beat up the space pirates. After seeing another explosion caused by the mining equipment, Enel laid his divine wrath against the space pirates for damaging his kingdom of Fairy Vearth without a valid environmental assessment report.
After this, the spaceys will be so greatful that Enel has enacted their revenge for them that they will worship him as a god and serve him faithfully on Fairy Vearth. Every one's dances happily on the moon.
THE END -
why isnt the shadow luffy wearing the shadow straw hat? (should be on his back but it seems to be missing completly)
does this mean Moria cant solidify objects shadows?
I thought it was pretty obvious since the Franky discussion, his shadow will be half-useless.
Appearantly no, Moria can't solidify object's shadows.
However maybe he can but did something alone the lines of "I will only solidify his shadow" which means no cloths or shit, only Luffy. Along with his DF, I think. -
I'm kinda seeing Brook, Franky, and Robin saving Zoro, and Sanji; and then all of em take out the Zombie Generals, Brook vs. Ryumaru(spelling?) and Zoro vs. his Zombie General. While Nami, Chopper, and Usopp take out the Mysterious 3. Luffy takes out both the Zombie 900(unless Zombie 900 turns out to be a total bust by trying to use Luffy's techniques) and then Luffy vs. Moria.
-
There's a good quality, translated version at www.onemanga.com
-
Wait, Brook said he hadn't seen another person in decades, but he was at Thriller Bark five years ago… Was he lying about that? If so, why?
-
I really hope we see more of Sanji's ingenious plans, we haven't seen any since Baroque Works with "Mr. Prince." That was awesome. Sanji was so kickass right then. I wish he changed his name to Mr. Prince, anyway. It would be good if Sanji did some plan, like somebody said earlier. Anyway, I really doubt that Nami could beat Absalom… He took out Sanji with that invincible blast in one hit. I guess maybe his love could stop himself or something but I'm not counting on it. Sanji is a pervert and Absalom is a pervert. Pervert fights pervert. Solved. As for Ussop versus Perona. There is a chance he could beat her, and I really don't see Zoro being a contender for her. Chopper versus Hogback is obvious. Then Luffy vs. Moria also is. There's no doubt also that Zoro, Sanji and Luffy are going to have to fight their shadow zombies too. Maybe not Sanji, but definitely Luffy and Zoro. Luffy has that number 900 zombie, so obviously SOMEONE strong has to fight it, and since it has Luffy's shadow Im putting my money on Luffy. Zoro should fight Jigorouh. He fought 7000 pirates, and I believe it would teach Zoro on endurance. Sanji vs. a Penguin definitely doesn't sound like a good battle, and frankly I wish Moria either switches it into a different body, and it was temporary, or Dogpen helps Sanji beat Absalom. Brook also has a MUST to fight Ryuuma. All these battles are great, because we've never seen any of the Mugiwara pirates fight themself. It's new. It's fun. It's One Piece. I really hope that Number 900 doesn't end up looking like a total asshole like Jigorouh and Dogpen (A gigolo with a Hitler Mustache and a bib on, Please... and a penguin with a dog's face stitched on it...?). So far the main bosses have been looking good and I feel more satisifed on Moria's design.
-
oh wait go to this link www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/455/ instead it goes right to the chapter
-
Thanks BF
- No one said it yet in this chapter, so I will. Brooke is definitely joining the SHs in this chapter. Look at how Franky and Robin interacted with him. Franky trying to beat him up, Robin first not wanting to, then saying its okay. But most important was Brooke's line when he started dancing.
Brook: グサーーーーーーーッスカルショック!!
gahahahahaaa SKULL SHOCK!!!
Brook: ――なんて掛け合いも私数十年振りで!! ちょっと楽シ~~~~
oh my, it’s been years since I’ve had such conversation!! fun~~~~- Also if anybody wants more proof that Luffy's zombie is going to rampage, there's Franky's line. This line shows that Luffy will probably not listen as is as strong as him
Brook: Indeed…. he doesn’t need any shadows that are as strong as him who won’t listen to what he says
強い者程気を失ってる内にすぐ海へ流されます」
for people that strong, he just throws them into the ocean once they lose consciousness
フランキー「え・・・!!じゃああいつらやべェ・・・」
Franky: ehh!! Then he’s in danger!!!- Here's why I also think that Sanji got put into an animal body. I believe that the body you're put into at least for the SHs were determined by bounty. He most likely judged the SHs on their bounties and would put them accordingly. The bounties over 100 would be put into warriors, over 50 million into the animals, everything below 50 million in the mansion. Then the rest into the regular zombies/trees outside.
How Moria gets the shadows out is interesting.
- Put a light on the individual so there can be shadows. It was probably dark in there so there was no shadows to be extracted that was shown. None of the others in there had shadows either.
- Moria extracts the shadow with his Devil Fruit.
- The shadow is supposedly stuck to the individual. The shadow is solid though since it can be cut.
- The shadow can be put into a dead corpse to bring it back to life and give it abilites and personality, but strength depends on the individual.
- Moria has stitches on his forehead then from his mouth to down the neck with no chin. Just pointing that out.
Spectualation? There's a lot. Absolom's powers are to still be fully revealed.
And then there's the whole Hogback powers but who knows if he'll even fight. He seems to bring the corpses and animate them so that is probably a full time job. There's gotta be something to him though. Finally theories. Two I like are that Moria's a suit and that Luffy's shadow will be put into Gol D. Roger's body.
Thanks BF again.
-
@Moria: paragraphs please pretty please?
Wait, Brook said he hadn't seen another person in decades, but he was at Thriller Bark five years ago… Was he lying about that? If so, why?
No, Brooke said this according to stephen's scripts:
Brook: What a simply perfect day!!!
I've met PEOPLE!!!
In such thick mist where you can't even tell when the days go by,
stuck on a huge ship with no working rudder,
DECADES spent floating on the waves!!
I've been EVER so lonely!!!
So lonely, and afraid…!!! I wished I could just DIE!!!There's no conflict there.
Anyone sense that Moria's fear of creating zombies more powerful than him is foreshadowing a revolt by some of the senior general zombies like Captain John and ryuma? They don't seem too happy with their current predicament after all.
Edit: good analysis ultimatedclima, I concur.
Also, Moria isn't planning on throwing luffy's body into the water because luffy's bounty is less than his. This is why luffy will be the strongest zombie ever, because anyone stronger would have been thrown off the cliff instead of being used to make a zombie.
-
I wonder if I'm the only person who never saw Mr. Prince as some super ingenius awesome thing. From what I remember all he did was call Crocodile a fag over the phone and break the guys out of jail.
I liked his awesomeness on the train better anyway.
-

I think people fell in love with the potential of it and what he could do as Mr. Prince.

@Rai:

Appearantly no, Moria can't solidify object's shadows.
However maybe he can but did something alone the lines of "I will only solidify his shadow" which means no cloths or shit, only Luffy. Along with his DF, I think.obvious eh? … funny i dont think that holds any merit since it hasnt happened in the manga.. its all speculation by the users on this forum =P
(Edit: ofc his hat missing can be used to indicate that theory is really true)while Luffys hat is missing it seems that both people shown in Brook explanation still have their shadows clothed. the only real difference is that Luffys hat isnt in direct contact with him but on a string around his neck is that enough to not consider it part of luffys shadow?
Moria didnt sanji do "something Mr. Prince - like" during EL? when he went and closed the doors so that the currents became a problem for the warships?
-
I think whether or not Luffy's shadow has a hat is a pretty trivial issue
then again another day on ARLONG PARK
-
As trivial as Franky punching with lightning? I think not.
-
@Cap'n:
I think whether or not Luffy's shadow has a hat is a pretty trivial issue
then again another day on ARLONG PARK
since its such a big part of who Luffy is, is it really trivial? would he ever have become a pirate without meeting red hair? that hat is a momento from shanks. haveing a specific object of great personal importance to him is a kinda big personal trait.
-

However maybe he can but did something alone the lines of "I will only solidify his shadow" which means no cloths or shit, only Luffy. Along with his DF, I think.Who said that? Seems like there's nothing stopping Moria from grabbing any shadow he wants. For one thing, Luffy's shadow clearly had clothes outlined on it, and the shadow from that dancer guy in the flashback had shoes. So, I see no reason for Moria to not gab inanimate objects shadows. Hell, that's probably part of his fighting style.
-
As trivial as Franky punching with lightning? I think not.
Oh god, I remember that. People thought I was crazy because I didn't think it signified NAMI UNLEASHING THE PERFECT CLIMA-TACT.
