I suppose Doberman can range from awesome to shitty depending on how you pronounce it.
One Piece: Yellow Discussion Thread

Some of the more prominent FF members have been given names:
Tall slim guy with triangle nose = Koppu (lit. glass cup but dunno if that intentional)
Blonde-haired guy with glasses that always shows up = Shoruzou (haven't checked if this means anything yet)
Tamagon was revealed in 46
And the bearded guy I believe they found starving in Franky's brief fb before joining is Kiev
-
Anything about the guy in my Avatar Greg (Red-Haired Shanks) and Whitebeard?
-
I suppose Doberman can range from awesome to shitty depending on how you pronounce it.
You know Dobermans are an absolutely vicious dog breed, right?
-
And a nice surprise is the VA from Ace's story. I don't believe he was given a name but it's been a while. He's Koomiru which could mean 'tasting the flavor'
His name was provided a long time ago actually. Check Ivotas' name list.
Anyway, so… huh. About half of the Vice Admirals are named after animals, while the others are not. I wonder if that's somehow significant.
The guy who fought Franky and fell to pieces: Lit. Beri-guddo which is literally Very Good. How fans wanna translate that, hell if I know and not something I'd wanna tackle but in my world I'd called him Berigud ^O^
I'm going to call him Chico Escuela myself.
Dese balls been berra, berra good to me.
Guy (gal?) who ruined Zoro's sword: Shuu
Shuu… that means... dried up right? So is he doing some sort of variant of Crocodile's dehydration ability?
That doesn't make sense in light of what happened to Yubashira though... maybe he forces water into an object and rusts it that way and Shuu is an ironic comment on that.
Is there anything in there about what his actual ability is? A section on the new Devil Fruits perhaps? If nothing else, does Yellow at least name the two Bridge DF or at least one of them?

In the last post on page 7 I made a note about WB having 1,600 crew members and 16 units which I believe is new.
Okay folks, ready? I don't think anyone hit this one on the head.
The Marine HQ Captain Very-Good, Berry-Good, Berigud (whatever) has the power of the:
Beri Beri no Mi
His body literally turns into berry-like bits. Think we all could guess it was indeed a Paramecia though.
Given the explanation and now thinking back on the name being Berry as well as Very, I like Berigud even better but whatever.
Next was an easy one if you were in the rust camp.
Shuu has the power of the Sabi Sabi no Mi. Lit. Rust Rust Fruit. Yep, he rusted Zoro's swords. Paramecia type.
OH NOW I GET IT!!!!!!!!!
Okay, Captain Sharingu has the power of the Shari Shari no Mi. 車輪 or Sharin literally means 'car wheel' or just 'wheel'. He can turn his body-parts into wheels and spin them at high speed to attack opponents. Now I get his name which basically is like making his ability a verb. Sharingu would be like saying 'Wheeling' which isn't a real word/name. Wonder if Oda was into Return to Oz? ^o^ This easily wins best new info in the book so far in my opinion. Not only was the name a surprise, but also the ability. I didn't even realize the character was doing anything special when I read the chapter. Very cool.
-
Super straight nose and beard guy = Strawberry
Do you mean Ichigo japanese for Strawberry or Strawberry in English?
-
In the last post on page 7 I made a note about WB having 1,600 crew members and 16 units which I believe is new.
I really do appreciate your help and time Greg, Thanks.
-
It's lit. strawberry written in katakana.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
100% usless info!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pirates Chopper found being wrecked by Wiper in Skypiea just after their arrival, The Eraser Pirate Crew!!!!!! You have no idea how happy that makes me.
WOOHOO!!! The Doskoi Panda Brand HQ/Main Store is on Mirror Ball island!!!!
-
I guess nothing interesting about Blackbeard or Shanks, Greg?
-
Now we finally know what crew was erased from existence by Wiper in that instant.
To the person above me… shut up and let him go through the entire thing. Notice how new things keep getting pointed out?
-

Where is he? I can't seem to be able to find him.
-
He's attacking Franky in chap 428. Dun have a page #.
Okay more useless but cool info. The island where Ace fought BB was Banaro Island. This I believe we knew. But it says that the rocks there are shaped like bananas which they indeed are. Thus Banaro = Banana Rock. Heehee.
More useless awesome. If I'm reading this correctly, the largest bill of money is 10,000B
And it continues. Franky's Speedo's are officially called: Batlle Pants
-
Damn it, 428 is the one chapter I'm randomly missing. To MSN.
-
I think it is page 7… top middle panel.
-
Yeah I found it on MSN, but that's a small and shitty scan. I'll have to go look for a raw.
-
WOOHOO!!! The Doskoi Panda Brand HQ/Main Store is on Mirror Ball island!!!!
The SBS in either vol 13 or 14 has that info. At least in the American one it does.
-
More useless awesome. If I'm reading this correctly, the largest bill of money is 10,000B
Fits well into my strong belief that the beri is of value comparable to the yen. Does it say who's pictures are on the notes?
Any comparisons that span the series, i. e. the douriki of pre-Water 7 characters?
-
In the last post on page 7 I made a note about WB having 1,600 crew members and 16 units which I believe is new.
To the best of my knowledge, it is.
So we've only met a quarter of the Corps Commanders so far?
Lot's of potential there then.
I wonder how many ships Whitebeard has at his disposal; Joz and Marco being on Whitebeard's ship would suggest that their corps are there as well.
The Marine HQ Captain Very-Good, Berry-Good, Berigud (whatever) has the power of the:
Beri Beri no Mi
His body literally turns into berry-like bits. Think we all could guess it was indeed a Paramecia though.
Looking back at the chapter in question, some of the balls do indeed have patterns on them that look like leaves and/or the remnants of stems. I never really paid that much attention to them before now.
Shuu has the power of the Sabi Sabi no Mi. Lit. Rust Rust Fruit. Yep, he rusted Zoro's swords. Paramecia type.
So that would most likely be a pseudo-Logia like the Doru Doru and Awa Awa Fruit then, pretty much what I expected.
I didn't even realize the character was doing anything special when I read the chapter. Very cool.
That's apparently the one chapter I don't have either as a raw or in scanslated form. No wonder I didn't know about that one.
-
Ah, thanks for that.
Too bad most of these guys seem to be throwaways, I'm interested in the wheel-captain now.
-
Oooooh shit Oooooooh SHIT!!!!!
SHIP NAMES!!!!! GAAAAAH! GIMME A SEC!!!
-
It's fun watching this thread while it's in progress.
-
That's like a sport event play by play.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, Shanks' ship is: The Red Force
Alvida's was: Miss Love Duck
Buggy's: The Big Top
Kuro's: The Bezan Black. Not bothering to research bezan now to write faster.
Krieg's Lead Ship: The Dreadnaught Sabre (fangasm)
Red Leg's: The Cooking George (may not be 'george' could be another language. The katakana reads ジョージ. Could be Japanese for jouji meaning love affair/liason. Again, moving on)
Sanji's boat: The Shimashima Shopping
Arlong: The Shark Superb. Although clearly separate into シャーク and スパーブ one is tempted to read it as Shark's Barb. Was Oda thinking that far? I doubt it, but let the speculation run wild. The superb also makes sense considering his thoughts on his race.
Giants: The Great Erik
Mr. 2: The Swanda Express (Lit. 快速スワンダ号)
Ace's ship: Striker (fangasm)
Bellamy: The New Witch Bero (This is a mess I know. I have no idea what the referrence is and whether or not he's nintentionally mis-matching Japanese and English. The name is lit. ニュー・ウィッチ・ベロ号 or 'nyuu uicchi bero gou'. 'New' seems obvious, 'uicchi' is puzzling cause I dunno if it's Witch or Which, but Which just sounds odd unless of course it's meant to refer to more than one thing (those smiling, sad faces we've seen surrounding WB and Ace) and 'bero' is tongue in Japanese but it's clearly written in katakana and hence meant to be read that way. Given the 'new' this MAY make sense if it's linked to the fact that he stole Flamingo's mark. Either way, I'm gonna move on.
WB: Moby Dick (nice)
Ao Kiji: Blue Bike (Ao Chari)
-
Hahaha! Spandam is listed as having the ability Zero Shiki
-
Nice. I especially like Buggy's, Krieg's, Whitebeard's and Zeff's ship names.
-
Okay that's some of the biggest stuff I found. I'm sure there are nice little smidgens tucked away here and there but I haven't come across any in passing.
The Martial Arts sections sucks it hard and long leaving MUCH to be desired.
There's a list of plants and diseases (real or otherwise).
Hacchan's story runs to completion which kind of sucks considering it was easily the least interesting.
NO MENTION OF BROOKE OR MORIA OR ANYTHING BEYOND WHAT WAS REVEALED THROUGH 45!!!!!
Interestingly enough, for pictures of the inside of Sunny they opted to take scenes from the chapter with Brooke's first appearance.
All around from the first flip through, better than Red by far but not as good as Blue despite being as thick (if not thicker) than Red. Still a well worthwhile purchase that belongs on any collector's shelf.

Stop the fucking presses.
In the back. After Space Time. On the very last page.
There is a very busy and detailed pic of the crew that I believe is an original for the book. It's not color, but it's a manga style pic. However, I had the book laying upside down on my bed and there's something written upside down in the upper left corner. If I'm reading it right it says, "The 8th is not far behind…"
I'm gonna try to get a clean pic. Sorry no scanner.
edit:
Okay, again, ocean of ooshi can confirm but I think this is it
-
interested in power levels of Luffy and Zoro and if it says Gear 2 Luffy's levels or Gear 3
:o

No talk about power levels that I could find.
-
LOL! nice April Fools prank Greg.
Does One Piece Yellow go into detail between the RIVALRY of Mihawk and Shanks?
-
Kuro's: The Bezan Black. Not bothering to research bezan now to write faster.
Well, there was an actual ship named the Bezan. It's also a type of rigging.
It's more likely a reference to the yacht than the rigging though.
Giants: The Great Erik
Likely a reference to Erik the Red.
Given the 'new' this MAY make sense if it's linked to the fact that he stole Flamingo's mark. Either way, I'm gonna move on.
Going by that, it would seem likely that DoFlamingo's ship was named The Witch's Tongue to reflect his mark and Bellamy's vessel is named in its honor.
Now, as far as the name goes, well, one of the theories about the Jolly Roger is that the name may have been a reference to the Devil by way of his "Old Roger" nickname. Witches are consorts of the Devil, so it's easy to see how a standard incorporating that name could come about.
As a side note, I don't suppose there's any clarification of Donquixote's name in there is there? Until then, I'll stick with "Do" as it's Portugese for "of the".
Wait, so Aokiji's bicycle got a name and the Raft O' Doom didn't? Odd…
-
No talk about power levels that I could find.
:(
I want the concrete proof that Geared Luffy > Zoro and anything he can do.
;-; ;-; ;o;

Wait, what? :wassat:
For a second there I thought that most of that info you were giving was fake.
:wassat:
what?

Not that I read. Nothing more than what we already know at least. The info books don't usually divulge that kind of very super-duper important data.
For a second there I thought that most of that info you were giving was fake.
Nope. Just that one post.
-
Well that was a bit disappointing, I was hoping for some new info on where the characters stand.
Oh well, thanks for the translation Greg
-
Thanks for your time Greg! Good night…........
-
What's confusing you?
After re reading it like 3 times I got it…....lol
Nice little prank!
( I'm so late)
-
Okay one more, translation of Nami's speech from cover flap. One sec.
In days long ago when navigation techniques didn't exist, people only went out to sea as far as they could go without losing sight of land. No matter how hard you look, a sea of nothingness would be creepy right? And so people found a way of navigating that they could use no matter where they went. This was of course the Pole Star. There was actually an age where people even believed that compasses pointed to the North Star. I'm just glad I was born in this day and age!! Cause I can go 'meet' treasures from all around the world heart
-
Is there some detail into the character's recent techniques? Like Gear 2/3, Diable Jamble, Asura, Chopper's monster form, etc…?
-
Is there some detail into the character's recent techniques? Like Gear 2/3, Diable Jamble, Asura, Chopper's monster form, etc…?
Well, Asura was confirmed to just be Zoro moving his upper body really fast/just an illusion.
-
Yes and no. They do like a fake newspaper article on Chopper's form. And they list a 'recipe' for Sanji to Jamble but nothing particularly special. I was actually kind of let down.
Well, Asura was confirmed to just be Zoro moving his upper body really fast/just an illusion.
No, nothing of that nature. It's indeed his/a spirit. But the main point is, it is not him physically growing arms etc.
-
I'm a little confused now. So is this the same kind of spirit that Shanks has to make a weak man faint?
-
Bellamy: The New Witch Bero (This is a mess I know. I have no idea what the referrence is and whether or not he's nintentionally mis-matching Japanese and English. Just a thought…. could this be a phrase "The New Which Bear"? Meaning the New Age bearing something... or something along those lines...
-
@Janken:
I'm a little confused now. So is this the same kind of spirit that Shanks has to make a weak man faint?
Most likely
It may be even become more powerful than shank's since zoro's ki is demon like, but shank's may have the same thing. It's likely we just haven't seen it yet, this just increases my disappointment in the yellow book
