Giant rats in pirate top hats on the moon. Oda must be smoking the good stuff again. Enel definitely must be high and imagining all this.
The reason I think Blackbeard let Ace hit him was to put him off guard. Ace probably thought, "Man, this guy's a chump…" then Blackbeard busts into his power and Ace thinks, "Oh, shit..."
Kage Kage no Mi is gonna be awesome. Shikimaru has nothing on Blackbeard. It also makes me wonder if he can make his opponent fear him, like create darkness that can cause the soul to despair. Some of you may think that's lame, but I think it's awesome. Making Ace catatonic from fear would be crazy.

I find it odd that nobody seems to notice that BB (a logia-man) was attacked head-on by Ace's Fire Fist (Hiken) ,
Why didn t he turn into darkness and avoid the attack –> because he wasn t prepared for it so that s a question answered already

It wasn't a physical attack. If you assume that darkness is effective against fire, then they would clearly affect each other. It's like with Ace and Smoker (I'm still not sure what the correct translation is, as some say that smoke stands no chance against fire, while the other says it's even, which is only supported by the anime filler). Regardless, one is a weakness or they cancel each other out, so regardless of if they have to activate it (I doubt it) or not, they will be affected. Or else Ace's fire would've passed through Smoker's smoke instead of completely eradicating it when he attack. Or Smoker could've passed through Ace's flaming net instead of being stuck behind it and forced to stop his chase.
The Smoker/Ace thing seemed to me to clearly be a comedy moment (and used to set up Smoker's chasing after Luffy).
Without their fruits, we know that Ace is at least stronger than Luffy was 3 years ago… while Blackbeard was strong enough to scar Shanks and kill a division commander. So the only thing Blackbeard would need to do is be able to harm him, of course Ace could possibly be on his level without his frut, but I think that's doubtful, so darkness doesn't have to be a strength or weakness if Blackbeard already outclasses Ace, he just needs to be able to make contact.

Didn't Oda say on one of the SBS that Shanks was 28 when he met Luffy, and Luffy sailed ten years after Shanks left. So Shanks should be 38, but I also think that two years have passed since Luffy set off to be a pirate. So he would be around 40. The reason I think that two years have past since the beginning of Luffy adventure, is because in Franky flashback it says 22 years ago, as oppose to when Gold Rogers died it said 20 I think.

Ace is in deep s##t , darkness absorb light .
If blackbeard 's darkness logia is like doryu's power from rave , then his ability is more broken than ener's , doryu 's power allowed him among other things to control gravity , destroy any living matter and create black holes .
If the yami fruit has the same abilities as doryu's darkness : RIP Ace .Anyway i don't think ace will die , i think that defeating ace is a plot device to promote BB as a warlord and at the same time introduce the 7 warlords ( bb included) in the story .
If Ace 's defeat is here to introduce the whole warlord members then BB could eat Ace with some fried chicken while drinking beer or coca cola , it won't bother me at all .

Thet is when Ace started going after him. Insted it seems like the scar Shanks has, is very old. He already had it when Luffy was small. This means BB was able to scar Shanks even withouth any ability of Darkness!

It's not that Ener's fruit was exceptional, he was just too damn fast to catch unaware.
To be honest, it's not that hard to imagine Luffy surpassing him.
But yeah, like it's been said, the loser islands (Drum, Syrupp) weren't really worth seeing.

One thing, Black beard would have fought shanks when he was at his peak. Or rather assuming since he would have had both hands. And he would have had to be good to even touch shanks judging from whitebeards ''when a man like you come back with only one arm everyone was surprised'' coment. And shanks ''I was'nt being careless''.
Another thing upon their first meeting oda kinda hinted at the similarities between luffy and blackbeard with the in sync outbursts. I think oda intends BB to be very luffy like in many ways but with BB's own twist on things. Like his strong belief in having a dream, respect for nami and belief in if you want to be a first rate pirate there will be times where there are no reasons to fight back.
Shanks out of everyone it would seem realises the potential in people the most. As shown with his ''betting it on a new era'' thing when he saved luffy and now his insistance that blackbeard is more dangerous than everyone gives him credit for. Which leads me to this why has shanks only chosen now to bring it to whitebeard's attention. What did BB do recently to make him that aggressive about calling it off.
I also think it says something about blackbeard when he easily took out sarquiss and with his crew caused enough panic for wapol to flee drum all together. Where luffy had a bit more trouble with bellamy and wapol.

I didn't really think it was shame from the summary though, since it said he wondered about Zoro and the only thing he said was "don't be like him," which I figured referred to pirating.

So it may simply be that Whitebeard is unaware of just how powerful Blackbeard has become, but Shanks knows, or at least somehow has an idea, that Blackbeard has somehow gathered more power to himself since he is now making his big move out of Whitebeard's shadow.

Personally, I think people really underestimate Ace. His powers have not really been shown. The only logia people that we've seen really do stuff were Crocodile and Enel. What I'm trying to say is that this fight is going to be really good ( I hope), and Blackbeard will not kill Ace ( wishful thinking) and he won't win as easily as most people think. I believe Ace is Stronger than Luffy by far. Well, guess we'll find out soon. Hopefully Oda does not prove me wrong.

Anyways, this is a great chapter, but only one thing bothers me: the name of Luffy's village. It seems everyone likes to call it "Fuscia Village" when it is actually "Foosha Village", where Foosha means Windmill. As one can plainly see in the town's landscape, there iare 2 windmills smack-dab in the middle of it. Just hope it clarifies that up...
Also, I love that "Blackbeard" gets the Dark-logia fruit. Very fitting for his color.
