Is it weird that we live in a world where Naruto of all things has a better and more logical "Magic" system that Harry Potter?
(Let's be real, Ninjutsu is fucking magic with another name)
In Naruto, they explain the different energies that go behind their "spells". One molds this "energy" with physical hand seals for the most part.
As opposed to Harry Potter, where apparently Latin just happens to make shit happen.
Which begs the question….WHY?
Is it the intent of what they want? When they say "wingardian Leviosa" is it that the whole system of Magic is just like "Oh, well this feather will levitate because they said so...in Latin"? Was the Latin language formed from Muggles overhearing spells? Is it that the language part of the brain happens to be linked to whatever part of the body forms or manipulates magic?
I know there is a certain appeal to authors to leave certain aspects of their franchise to the readers' imagination, and not dwelve into the schematics.
But here we are explaining the lore of Wizard shit, but not how and why saying spells in Latin makes something happen.
It might be apples and organges to compare a long running manga series to a long running book franchise. But again, for all the shit Naruto gets(usually justified) at least it attempts to logically explain how and why they can do the various Jutsu.
Naruto: OK, you're going to have to focus your Chakra in your hands, then manipulate that energy by forming specific hand seals. We've named them -mostly- after the Chinese Zodiac for an easy to remember formula. Weebs can copy this irl and makes sense in the context of the series.
Harry Potter: Say Latin and "Swish and flick the shit out of that wand"
