awesome so the next set will go up to 1000
-
Yes! I'll try to save them a bit better than the last set - I binged it hard, I loved the flashback.
-
That should make us 13 weeks away from a dub of 1015. So, around late September or early October.
-
So, do you think they’ll use Vic’s version of We Are for episode 1000? They’ve mostly used the dub versions for old songs when it’s not some sort of remix, including episode of east blue which was already after everything came out about him. That being said, from what I could hear the roger laughing scene was the original memories? And it was kept in Japanese? So maybe they’re just now changing their minds on it. I also can’t imagine starting your episode with Vic in front of a live audience would go well.
-
Lmao, yeah, I think they’ve reverted back to Japanese songs at this point. The trend was in that direction and the Vic thing didn’t help.
-
I reckon they'll use the Jerry Jewel version to be as confusing as possible.
-
That version is way too short.
-
Man I miss when the openings were dubbed.
-
Yeah them dub songs were some bangers but i guess they wanted to appease the rabid japanese purists fans
-
I think it was a rights issue.

Your logic doesnt work. the "rabid japanese purists" dont even watch the dub. Heck some even refuse to buy the DVD's and just pirate it.
-
Yeah, it was a rights issue. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they stopped trying on rights due to both the added cost of producing as well as the lack of enthusiasm for them due to “sub purists.”
Was really bummed to see an article where the writer claimed Emily Rudd said, “subs not dubs.” Was hoping the Netflix production and actors would be supportive of the dub, maybe even hire some cast for bit parts. The anti-dub community only seems to get stronger in the states, not weaker. I don’t like how CR bends to them by not translating certain words. My wife will be watching very confused sometimes when someone drops a Japanese word or suffix in Wano. (But on the other hand, it also makes sense that some Japanese would carry over in such a Japan-inspired arc.)
Man, next set covers so few chapters. With some exceptions, this will be a slow set. Very hyped for the second Ishitani, though.
-
Someone in a server I am apparently met Aaron Campbell at a con and he claimed to finish recording for Perospero. He last has lines in 1051.
-
Man, they’re so close I’m expecting a simuldub. Sure seems like they have the infrastructure now to keep up. Maybe they’ll announce to at AnimeExpo? High hopes, I know.
-
We're gonna find out who Yamatos VA is tomorrow right?

Probably not. They’re not in episode 1000.
-
Seems more like a live action thread thing, and it was mentioned there.
-
What time is the ep 1000 dub screening?
-
6pm, doesn’t technically specify anywhere but I’m assuming PST since that’s what LA uses. Either way they’ve made it very unclear if it’ll actually be streamed or not.
-
So that's 9PM EST.
I doubt it gets streamed. What's most likely to happen is we'll get a report about it from posters who were at the showing, and if any news about Yamato's dub VA is unveiled, it leaks in the first five minutes of its announcement. Certainly we'll get a few people fighting to upload illegal recordings of episode 1000 for the next 36 hours on some filesharing site or another.
-
Oh yeah there’s no reason to announce yamatos VA. He’s literally just. Not in the episode. The only actual new character we’ll get is Sasaki and the change they’ll actually credit him anyways is low.
-
Apparently folks who waited three hours for the event were turned away. Not a big enough venue, I guess. Wouldn’t expect it to be pirated and go online, considering how small the group was. Ah well. Pretty poorly planned and managed event. Glad I didn’t go.
-
Ouch. Was looking forward to news from this for weeks.
-
Since the interval for the last few releases has been 3 weeks I'm guessing s14v9 will come on July 25th
-
Awesome!
-
Boom! 24 episode month. Exciting! We'll be less than 60 episodes behind Japanese Broadcast.
-
This month is going to be so hyped, next year around this time we could be getting simuldub this what a time to be a One Piece dub fan
-
@Muginiz A lot of miffed fans on the Twitter thread. I was picturing a proper screening with, you know, chairs and stuff.
-
Yeah, this seems like it stunk. Super poorly managed event. No chairs AND just two fairly regularly sized TVs??
On the bright side, yeah I’m really excited we’re here. I haven’t seen much of the raid in the anime besides the huge episodes because I didn’t want it to be too fresh when the dub got here, and I used to think I was silly for thinking that but assuming voyage 9 is the 25th we’ll be only 70 episodes behind.
-
Fantastic news. Nice to know I can watch it on Crunchyroll now.
-
About time, annoying it took this long but rights issues are rights issues I guess. Hopefully this means the gaps between digital and streaming are more consistent.
-
This is great news for me. I can finally start catching up on the dub as I only been watching the dub as the dvd/bluray sets as they came out. I will be making comments about the dub of Zou, Whole Cake Island, and Wano.
-
Awesome! I can finally cancel my funimation app.
-
Ign revealed that Michelle Rojas will be voicing Yamato in the dub in their article about the dub going to Crunchyroll.

-
Think they probably weren’t supposed to reveal that lol. But I can accept this.
-
@Sano ooo this is good news. Very happy about this.
-
Ayyyy, so we got a good bit of news out of AnimeExpo: Yamato, new voyage, and CR release date! I don’t know many Michelle roles, though she did a good job in Wonder Egg (really wonderful anime, btw). Open minded until I hear it. Fingers crossed.

Listening to Michelle Rojas’ voice demos, she sounds like a pretty good fit. Wish the best for her!
-
Damn, someone already wrote up this train wreck.
-
Watched half the set before bed. Particularly impressed with Queens scenes still and all the Tobi Roppo sound good, Black Maria is probably my favorite. Also yeah Mike Mcfarland is credited in some of them he's far from done with the show lol.
-
@midod aaand the UK gets left out again. It's 2023 and the only way to watch this show with English audio is to collect DVD box sets in standard def.
They also got their dates mixed up. The 4Kids dub started in 2004, not their dub.
-
So I guess a new set of 12 episodes just came out at the same time as this announcement of uploading all the dubbed episodes to Crunchyroll?
Either way, even if the episode 1000 premiere was a huge dud, at least the aftermath was as momentous as I wanted it to be. We've got Yamato and the Tobi Roppo all casted? Awesome. All that leaves us to find out are the Aegis Zero members and Adult Momonosuke. Hope we learn all the names of the Tobi Roppo's VAs soon.
-
Do we know who's voicing the Tobi Roppo?
-
Watched the Ishitani episode. Rationing the rest. The Tobi Roppo sound good, but I’m not sold on PayPay. His first line has a bit of Texas twang in it, which is a weird take imo.
I’m glad Ulti isn’t super high pitched or too annoying/shrill. She sounds fine so far.
