God damn it, the Vegapunks are the first characters I really want to see in colors and for some reason Oda seems to be adamant in now showing them.
Guess the best chance now is at a color spread

You guys are probably right about 107 emphasising the cutaways. It's way too early to guess about 108, but this is One Piece so I definitely don't think any Vegapunks are too dead to show up there, especially with the speed and quality of Atlas's repair job.
Cool cover! Gives me the same vibes as that first Skypiea cover with them on the beach.
Also interesting to notice that Vegapunks were not part of the cover from the start. Maybe Oda has a special cover thought out for them that fits later in the story (maybe York with a mecha or something)
It's early to speculate on 108 indeed (it has not even a single chapter out, lol!), but I feel it will bring so much stuff to Egghead that a cover showing the 6 Vegapunks would feel like old news.
I think it's most likely showing some villains and some heroes.
@Deicide We'll see, we'll see. All depends on what they get to do in the story. Most of the Scabbards were old news by volume 98, even relative to the Wano arc, but they still got their ensemble cover.
Even just among the Vegapunks you've got some heroes and at least one villain anyway.
While I love the overall composition, layout and choices, I am kinda disappointed to not see even one Punk. I mean, by now in the manga and the next volume cover half of them seems to have been dismissed, so it seems they just lost their only one opportunity to make it.
@Captain-M Some Vegapunks appearing i likely. All of them is the problem.
Yes, Scabbards took some time to have a cover, but it happened when they were finally together and in the spotlight (fighting the main villain, no less), so that cover just makes sense.
The Vegapunks, on the other hand, are dropping one by one, so I don’t think there will be opportunity for an ensemble shot cover. At least, not in 108.
This definitely will came at a great time since this and the SBS will come out in the midst of Oda having and recovering from his operation.
Oda gagged everyone when he chose not to show a single Punk
Really cool cover with nice coloring and a tumblr-y Punk Record to boot. noice.
Next cover will probably be Sabo/Garp coded, so maybe York and Stella on 108...? Let's see.

I suppose Oda felt it appropriate to just emphasize on the crew this time around since he didn't deem any other character to be particularly important. Not even anyone on the level of Tama's importance for Volume 91.
Of course. I still presume characters like Bonney will appear on multiple covers as time goes forward.
Bonney and at least Stella were on my initial prediction too. Well, we already have Stella's colors from a Jump cover and I assume we'll have a colorspread when Oda returns in 1087, right? Maybe we'll get the other punk color scheme there. If that doesn't happen, then it's up to the anime.

In retrospect, 1066-1075 wasn't really about Bonney despite what happened. Like, she was there and experienced emotions, but what was happening to her in this section prob palled in comparison to everything else going on. There's a difference between having a character there in an act and having an act be mainly about that character, if that makes any sense.
1076-1085 really isn't about Bonney either, so the prob isn't a good chance she's on Volume 107's cover too. Hmm...
We were all too used to Oda's tendency to overpopulate covers in Wano that we assumed the worst. IMO, the choice for this cover is perfect and really sells the Adventure side of OP. We are due to a Kuma's FB and origin story (all Shichibukai had one up to now), so Bonney will probably appears when that happens.
Reinforcing the two most important parts of Egghead:
Jinbe's incredible drip
pants are illegal
Absolutely gorgeous, definitely one of the best!
"It's the first time since volume 64 that these 10 people are on the cover!"
Ah right, Jinbe was on a Fish-Man Island cover with the others. In retrospect, I suppose Oda gave the game away a little early with that. lol
All the covers! Will the eighth row be the last one?
That is my favourite cover in many years. I love the colours, the vibe and the fact that it‘s got all of the crew.
Rather ashame that the chapter interiors itself doesn't exactly reflect the cover. Luffy didn't really get a chance to spend a chapter peacefully having fun looking around with all of the crew, since troublesome shounen fighting interrupted them quite fast. I'll be surprised if a chapter comes where they get a chance to actually fly around like that at this point. lol
So volume's 105 title is "Luffy's dream" while this is "A Genius's Dream"
Coincidence?
@Captain-M said in Volume 106 Predictions/Discussion:
Title is "A Genius's Dream" and the official twitter post confirms chapters 1066 to 1076!
Woohoo! I got both right! :D
That means Vol. 107 ends in either 1086 or, more likely, 1087!
I got it all wrong prediction wise, lol.
Egghead? More like Legoland! I love that it smashes to pieces the aseptic idea of the future being a large Kanye West house with GLaDOS and Apple inspired paraphernalia. In One Piece, the future is a bunch of LEGO buildings in a tropical island and that's plenty cool. Robin is popping even in the background, and somehow Jimbe is the cutest (sorry Chopper). Franky's purple is really not to my liking, but it works just fine with the scenery. Candy colored Punk Records = insane, I love it.
I wasn’t feeling it from the pre-finish version, but the finalized thing definitely is one of the cleanest and more pleasant covers OP ever had
I don't think the series can wrap in approx. 130 chapters. Personally, I think you'll not only go into a ninth, but a tenth row.
It's nice to have a volume cover where Luffy isn't in Nika form, after seeing it on the last 3. Just a shame that the whole crew didn't really go around exploring Egghead like this implies.
Liking this cover! The colours are great and vibrant and I don't even mind not seing the Punks yet.
The only thing I'm iffy about is it feels more like it should've been a colourspread? It's hard to explain but something about the vibe and how large Luffy is with this perspective makes it quite different from most previous covers. Like it's closer to a Color Walk cover, if that makes sense.
Definitely still like it though and look forward to picking it up.

Based on Oda continually setting things up and introducing new things like Garling, I can imagine this series going into like Chapter 1500 honestly, so maybe an 11th or 12th row.
@electricmastro The seventh row took around four years to fully release. You're talking about another 20 years to get to row 12, assuming Oda's age doesn't slow him any further from Wano's release rate.

Row 11 then. lol
But yeah, I don't anticipate him going past this year beyond 60, so I'll be considerate and claim that he won't be doing this series as is beyond 2035, unless One Piece switches to monthly releases.
@Captain-M
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get another row.
Maybe it gets another one, but I doubt it will fill up to the end.
Since I dislike most of One Piece cover, I feel obliged to admit when Oda draws one that I find great :-)
I LOVE this cover, from the colors, to the whole crew, to everyone flying....
when the series is over i'll definitely have to rank and analyze all of the covers lol
@Captain-M Do you have a better quality version?
@Yelero You can open in a new tab to see it significantly closer, but if I make the resolution any higher the filesize gets too much to easily upload.
Spine:
If I'd thought to make a prediction I would have pegged Jinbei to go alongside Luffy, but I guess there's no beating the mascot reindeer.
There's some SBS info leaking around already. Nothing too interesting, and not real translations, just general info, but here it is:

Everyone is a mascot at the end of the day. They all help sell merchandise. lol
@Deicide Thanks for sharing! Wasn't expecting to see anything til after the weekend.
Setting the S-Snake clarification in stone is a good move. I'll be waiting for a clearer translation of some of these points though. What is "rotting our Robin" meant to mean? And I don't think the K-Room answer clarifies all that much yet. Like a little, it's good to know for sure where the name is coming from, but it doesn't say anything about the warping of the blade's size. And what does the R in R-Room stand for then? At least I know it's normal to feel confused by it hahaha
@Captain-M I just copied the text as I found it so the errors are not mine. It appears the original leaks were in french or arabic, but then translated into english, then into other languages, so it's messy.
Some other translations put Nami's words as just "Not so tough now, uh?" and the rest is a mistranslation of Oda saying Lucci was the leader in Robin's kidnapping. Others say that Nami's words are more like "Not so tough now, uh? I was the boss when you kidnapped Robin", but this one makes less sense.
@Deicide Oh yeah, didn't mean to imply that was your fault. Translations of translations and non-English speaking leakers happen all the time with these early spoilers.
I can see Oda sneaking a little recap of Lucci's past with the crew into the SBS, what with it being 15+ years since Ennies Lobby. I guess it kinda works for Nami to play up her role in the rescue too, even if that's usually more of an Usopp trait.
I guess we'll see in a couple of days when the volume's actually out.
I heard one complaint about how Sentomaru's past wasn't in the manga, and somehow I find stuff like that strange to complain about. I'm just not sure what stuff like that would have added to a manga that spends a lot of time giving as many details as it can already and stuff that doesn't really help move the main story forward, particularly with the main characters, isn't really needed.
@electricmastro There's no winning. It goes in the manga, people complain about chapters wasting time on bit part characters and backstories that are barely relevant to the main plot. It goes in the SBS and they complain about story details being left out and handwaved away in a Q&A section.

Don't even get me started on how it's assumed some characters will never come back because "they weren't shown as important enough"
Oda friggin' brought back characters like Buggy and Wapol for crying out loud. What kinda manga do they think this is? lol
I kinda feel like Oda's lawyer ghostwrote that S-Snake entry to cover his ass.

Plenty of people interpreted it as a d'aww cuteness situation when S-Snake used that ability, so I doubt it. You'd have to be a weirdo to think they were perving over a little girl in One Piece of all things.

With Usopp, sure. But the CP goons even sticking their tongues out definitely didn't read as "cute" (Oda drew them like he always does when one of his characters is lusting over any woman).
Also, manga in general cannot afford the good will that you are giving it. Japanese media is not exactly a stranger to going there - and not just in the morally awkward 90's - so, yeah, it needed to be stated.

And even the claim that this situation is comparable to what happened with Vander Decken is questionable. Vander Decken ultimately wanted ancient weapon power, while Usopp and Lilith just saw S-Snake cute like how they see puppies and kitties as cute.
