An idea of how many chapters are usually adapted in each anime episode back then compared to now according to listfist:

Orange Town is like super-duper fast.

The anime was going at a slightly faster pace because of the COVID hiatus. However it has gradually slowed down back to the regular pacing. Hopefully it doesn't dip much under a 1 chapter 1 episode ratio moving forward, what with with all the action upcoming.
It would be really neat seeing episode 1000 line up with chapter 1000 but I'm not sure if it's still possible at all. Is this something Toei would want to celebrate for the end of 2021?

I also noticed that episodes 276 and 277 was apparently the last time that two episodes in a row each had three chapters adapted, aside from cover story chapters:

So it was right before the filler recaps. Also right before brand new world and adventure world (the last ending theme) stopped being used. Also right before Konosuke Uda stopped being credited as series director.

Also, the most content heavy time actually might have been during Drum Island, because they have a lot of episodes each adapt material from three or four chapters.

Yu Kobayashi as Black Maria is a really good choice, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Ulti too depending on the pitch she goes with. Given that I hear Volcano Ota in so many different Toei shows in the last couple of years it's only natural that he final makes it to One Piece.

I know it's not current but dang. Recently been rewatching some PH and Dressrosa. I followed the anime weekly during those arcs but even I had almost forgotten how abysmal the animation/art quality got at points.
I'm almost convinced that DR in particular was so poorly done that Toei was threatened with losing the rights to OP which led to the huge spike in quality in subsequent arcs.

I'm really grateful that they're delivering the quality of One Piece it deserved for a long time. It's just a shame we didn't see any of these changes earlier.
It's an interesting thought about the major shift after Dressrosa. Makes you wonder what pressures were involved behind the scenes which began leading to changes in production.
Other than the new talent and direction I think the most cost effective change was the addition of the post production filters. It was tested previously with the second half of Dragon Ball Super, and then perfected with the addition of alternating outline thickness for Broly, and then One Piece. It has changed everything.
Now any poor art or lacking animation can be somewhat hidden if these new effects to make them look somewhat artistic and have less of that 'poorly drawn computer outline' effect. Kinda like how the original DBZ cel animation still looked interesting even when bad because it was hand-drawn.

So as a precursor to catching up to the Series, I tried watching the Dressrosa anime. I only managed to watch around 20 eps before turning to One Pace. After I caught up to the manga, I thought about trying to watch Wano Act 1 episodes,as the anime quality has allegedly improved. That was again a mistake.Honestly I missed ep 904 and didn't even realise it until afterwards. Yeah, it's just not possible for me atleast to watch whole episodes. The animation has certainly improved a lot in Wano, no doubt, but the pacing just wrecks the direction and overall quality too much. Even One Pace can only fix it to a certain degree
I haven't watched a whole lot of OP movies, only watched Strong World,Z and Baron Omatsuri. But i think i liked Stampede the best among what I've watched.
