I thought Midnight died from being hit by debris from Machia. Why are folks saying there was a separate murderer?

These pages only make it worse, and for the first time in many years I wish we never get to see what happened there.
! Several bad guys are coming from behind, but Hori had that one say he would deal with Midnight himself. Yeah, no way that guy, even more so with that appearance, will not return at some point.
Ahh okay. I didn't remember that. I was wondering why folks in tumblr were throwing around the accusations that Horikoshi had her violated in other ways. But they always jump to that conclusion. They assumed the same thing with the Toga back in the villain arc.
Glad i'm not in the tumblr MHA fandom, reddit was is already bad.
Hm… Overall thoughts on this arc (even though we may still have a chapter or two left wrapping this up), I love it. Sure, it went on a bit too long but I enjoyed the ride. And, like it or hate it, you can't say this arc won't have a huge impact on the story going forward. This is the next arc I can't wait to see animated after My Villain Academia.
I liked the sequence with Ochako helping save people. In true I am invested in this sequence way. Which I haven't been with gravity girl in a while. It probably came from how dire everything looked which made what she was doing seem important. And the image of that hero being overwhelm made a strong impression.
I think the execution of Midnight death was bad but the students finding her was well portrayed.
I dont like Sylar taking over Shigaraki. And it seems a bit warly to jump into a prison arc. You need to decompress first.
Yeah, it was nice seeing Uravity just being a hero. It was made even more powerful with that hero giving up.
Not a bad chapter, the part with Uraraka was specially good, since she is technically someone that became a hero for selfish reasons. As for Midnight, her death felt wrong, but maybe that´s the point, not everyone gets a glorious death. I wonder if they will be able of identifying her killer, though Iida´s arc already showed that revenge is not the jed… I mean, the hero´s way.
Now, the death count page would have been better if it was instead a double spread and also had at least a couple more of named heroes on it. Like we didn´t get to know Majestic at all and killing Native seems pointless in the big scheme of things, other than making Iida, Deku and Todoroki feel like the battle with Stain was for nothing. Another way to make that page less silly would have been to include how many heroes are injured beyond recovery or how many will stop being heroes because of this.
And regarding the jailbreak arc, I think that it´s a little too soon, like people need a little breather in between. I don´t know, Hori could not show the event itself, but instead only the result.
I get the feeling Hori killing heroes connected to students was very intentional. This is their reality check. More so with Endeavor's family issues now public. I can see UA students transferring out just because it's his alma mater.
I don't think there'll be too much action in the jailbreak arc. Most of the heroes are recovering from earlier that day. Most of the drama I think will come from Kurogiri's mental status and Stain's decisions going forward after this talk with Toshinori. And, maybe we'll see AFO breaking out his old crew.
Maybe they took turns in beating her and in hum other things.

It's a simple yet crazy combination of quirks.
As for that picture, WOW! I love it so much! Now, that's a superhero team. I just hope someone colors it.
I think the climatic battle with facepalm went too and that the Mirio recovery should have been saved for post-arc.
I heard the Inko theory for the first time and… boy, that would be incredible. Really changes how I feel about the final pages of 282 if true.
The highlight of the arc was definitely, as the chapter title says, the completion of Bakugou's character development which signals the beginning of his hero career.
Vigilantes 93
! See there bub,not much to comment.
Vig Talk
I think the whole point to this arc is having O'Clock and All Might meet, with the two comparing notes and deciding to work together against AFO. I'm convinced O'Clock is the one who found AFO's location, telling All Might which will lead to the first AFO VS All Might fight.
Scans for 297 are out.
!
! He specifically said that he could only do it by being at 2 places at once, with 2 sets of AFO, and he's doing it before machia gets here because the upcoming increase of security for his transportation. And that he didn't know where he actually was until Search activated, so he couldn't get anyone to get here. He laughed at the gps quirk before.
! One piece scans and the actual legal release have panpered me, the scan quality and translation are awful.
! About the inocent looking girl, while we have our canibals, teleporters, and murderers here, stain wouldn't be so hard to contain in a regular prission, Overhaul can be kept in a cardboard box now (that was him right? the armless inmate?), but the wording of the people who come here are lost to their quirk, make me think that she might be a petty criminal, an eri-like case of a murder by quirk going out of control, or just a civilian with a devastating quirk who got rushed here out of fear.
! BTW definitelly overhaul, same eyebrows.

And that he didn't know where he actually was until Search activated, so he couldn't get anyone to get here. He laughed at the gps quirk before.
! Still a mess because: 1) Ujiko can replicate quirks, 2)Ujiko was one of the most famous doctors in Japan, it wouldn't be hard for him to implant a faux AFO in a person and have him sent to Tartaturs either by AFO psych realm meddling or quirk drug.
! The doctor has his hand in many pies, but the ability to swap the highest profile prissioner on the timeframe of one day, what kind of complain is this? that the doctor is not omnipotent? That he doesn't has AFO (the man) clones in storage, with different degrees of All might induced battle damage to swap them at the shortest notice?
! If there was only one extra of twice, I can bet that there was only one extra of AFO (the quirk), whatever the ill defined technique of quirk duplication is, it is not copy paste, or else using nomus with commonplace quirks doing synergy for destructive results instead of tactical nukes everywhere would not make sense.
! Considering Search keept is memory (contrast to Monoma's copy ability), we don't know HOW the duplication of AFO (the quirk) went, if it is full copy, if it copied main quirk and the existing stolen quirks and each stolen quirk was blank, or if it just copied the main quirk, and he had to quickly feed it before putting it in storage.
! I'm not arguing against the fact the prison break was possible with Ujiko's intervention or not. I'm arguing that was sold as a hard place get out even by Shigaraki Sr. standards, but in only needed a Radio Waves quirk burst from inside and outside to fry the control system. The prison break was done in ONE chapter. Whatever Sr. does next chapter is either consolidate his power over Tomura or hail him as the Successor. Is not prison break anymore.

! Week 2 of Jailbreak songs
I'm going to be honest here, that's a pretty shitty prison with terrible security.
All for One in the next chapter:
Yeah…I'm done with this manga. It had a good run
Damn, there wasn´t a prison break out arc, but instead a break out chapter… Now, to be fair with Tartarus, they were attacked by a combo of two AFOs that seem to share conciousness, so they were kinda screwed from the start. It seems that the original AFO used the three seconds blackout to mess things up from the inside.
A little dissapointed on AFO´s approach, letting Tomura be the next one in line was always something I really liked. I bet Shiggy will overcome him eventually, if that happens I wonder if AFO would be mad or proud, the later would be nice.
Lastly, I am curious about the villain lady and what she did to be there, since she doesn´t seem like Muscular or Moonfish. She also helped Overhaul even though she didn´t have to.
This never would have happened if Magellan had been at work that day.

"It's impenetrable", "Even with Machia and Me at 100% it would be hard" lol all I needed was a burst of radio waves from inside and outside to shutdown the system.
Hori needs to stop playing Rule of 2 with Shigaraki Sr and Tomura and decide once for all who is gonna be the main villain.

it's going to be afo it was already kinda obvious when the first thing he said in the story was that he'd make shigaraki do the heavy lifting, and was confirmed when izuku said tomura needed saving.
it's a vader and palpatine situation.
I couldn't understand what was happening this chapter, which has become common with this manga. Although I partially blame mangaplus's layout too.

Dunno, without the whole shared mind thing, the original AFO wouldn´t haven noticed the three second blackout and couldn´t have used his quirks.
Regarding Machia, sure, he could destroy Tartarus, but he would kill the prisoners along with it, the guy isn´t really suited for tactical warfare. Even AFO said that destroying the building would be meaningless because the water pressure would kill his original body.
AFO may have made it look easy, but against anyone other than him the prison was really working, to the point the original AFO couldn´t scape. Imagine Impel Down having to face a yonkou on the outside while having a revolt on the inside, hell, Mallegan lost to less than that. The only thing they could have improved may be using explosive collars on the prisoners, suicide squad-style, but that seems really dark for MHA´s standarts.
I'm under the impression that the 3-sec blackout was initially dye to the activation from Radio Waves from one side (outside) the frying system was due to to Radio Waves from the inside.

If true that would be as boring as the sequels.
This chapter brought up a little nugget of how some folks feel about their quirk society. The guard regarding the prisoners as animals and subhuman. Would rather just have them killed. I wonder if he was part of that cult Shiggy and friends jacked up.

The guard was probably his father:
Imagine Impel Down having to face a yonkou on the outside while having a revolt on the inside
That's exactly what happened though and Magellan still nearly pulled it off.
I forgot to cooment, but I am surprised Moonfish is still alive considering that he was in death row before scaping.

I doubt it, those guys were racist people that hate everyone whose quirk make them look not-human like, meanwhile this fellow seems to like the "an eye for an eye" approach, thinking that horrible criminal should be treated horribly, wich is also hosed up for someone working on a prison.
Tartarus is only justified by quirks being a thing, since regular prisons can´t deal with guys like Muscular and Moonfish.
Imagine Impel Down having to face a yonkou on the outside while having a revolt on the inside, hell, Mallegan lost to less than that..
Funny, I could have sworn Blackbeard was there while Luffy was throwing a revolt on the inside…

I may remember things wrong, but Blackbeard didn´t have his second fruit, lost like a chump the first time he fought Mallegan and the second time he fought Mallegan there was only a break down inside, with no one attacking the outside at the same time. Also, are you telling me that one-fruit Blackbeard was already Yonkou level?
It was just an example though, I don´t really want to go off-topic.
Magellan runs over Shigaraki, Shigaraki only survives because Stain just so happened to walk past him.
Imagine Impel Down having to face a yonkou on the outside while having a revolt on the inside, hell, Mallegan lost to less than that.
Imagine Luffy breaking out in less than a whole chapter.
I'm surprised there weren't more heroes there. Clearly Hori didn't want to bother with some flourish. AFO and some villains needed to break out and it happened.
AFO wasn't kidding when he said he wasn't giving Shigaraki any rest. The High Ends helped, but without him AFO couldn't have possibly pulled that one off.
Moonfish's face is disturbing to look at. Man, what a creep.
And that's one out of the way, no one knows now what the author has in store for the 300th chapter.
What in the hell is the author trying to do with this story? The bad guys have 2 evil all mights and thr good guys have .5 all mights.
There is literally nothing anyone can do to stop them. If all might was evil the whole country could have banded together and wouldnt have been able to stop him, now there is basically 2 people like that?
Either gonna be plot induced stupidity by the villivans or some stupid heart to heart talk that saves shigi and he teams up with deku. Either way this manga has jumped thr shark.
Like a Star Wars geek, Hori is doing the Rule of 2 with Tomura and Shigaraki Sr. Either the apprentice will kill the master (Tomura the more interesting charater) or AFO manages to get a hold of Tomura's body (the cool suave boring "I want to be a villain like the one in the comic book I read as a child").
AFO has always been the big bad, whereas Shigaraki is a sort of antagonist life wasn't kind to him.
Whoever thinks Shigaraki won't kick AFO out by the end is in for a rude awakening. AFO was AM arch-enemy, their successors being Shigaraki and Midoriya respectively. The story has been setting up the later's rising as a hero and the former's as his evil counterpart, and it ain't stopping there.
The difference, is we also have foreshadowing that might or might not lead to Midoriya "saving" Tomura. Either way, their feud won't end like their predecessors, or else the mistakes from the past would repeat again.
But I must say, this is one interesting contrast. While AM passed Midoriya the torch long ago, AFO is hellbent on prolonguing his reign forever, which is also why he had no successor till he realized his body was at its limit.
AFO is a bad done Sheev. He has the charisma, but not one ounce of mastermind and cunning that made Sheev truly threatening.
So Hori, just end the old man already.
i like how petty he is, a lot of his actions are to specifically spite All Might and Nana

Case in point:
There's really no reason for this arc to last very long when most of the strongest heroes in the country are injured or dead. But, I did like seeing giant security robots attacking Nomu. More of that please.
Is that? Another female villain?! Finally! Lets hope she doesn't die like a certain Liberation Army commander. I'm really interested in what her deal is. Also, no Stain. He's gotta show up eventually. And, we still have no idea if Aizawa was able to reach even a small part of Shirakumo inside Kurogiri. He probably did but Kurogiri will still be mostly under AFO's control and warp them all out of there.

My money's on Shigaraki killing AFO. First Overhaul. Then Re-Destro. And, now Shiggy's gonna beat AFO. I bet this whole breakout is Hori setting up an eventual Shigaraki VS AFO fight.

Really? AFO probably decided to make Shigaraki his new body a long time ago and has been working toward it all this time. I haven't bought into AFO wanting to make Shiggy his successor for a long time. He's way too power-hungry and selfish for that.
Kinda wondering why that lady is being shown alongside the other returning villains.
It's one thing if this was a bunch of new people, but it's all familiar faces except for this one gal.

I hope for that. Because otherwise it would be really underwhelming.
There being no heroes at The Raft is forgivable considering about 40% of them just got brutally murdered in the span of half an hour.
So…is that dude who the new villain lady freed Overhaul? I notice he has black hair and no arms, which would fit, but he looks different than I remember. Maybe the art style has changed since then, I dunno.
