@andre:
I'm going to chime in real quick. In my opinion, the health of an elected official is absolutely our business IF it is potentially lethal, if it affects their psyche in a way that hampers their effectiveness at their duties, or if the treatment for it can effect them mentally in a way that does the same. They are elected officials, and as such, are servants to their constituents, even those who didn't vote for them. I think you're right in that a Doctor's oath prevents them from disclosing medical information to the public, but it's absolutely Trump and his administration's duty to update the American Public if he falls into any of the above categories and follow the correct procedures in relation to them. This is mostly for mental issues, since FDR proved a president an be immensely effective with physical disabilities.
Oh, I see. I understand what you saying.
edit: I want to reiterate how serious I am about elected officials as servants. Since at least Rome, we've let those we've voted for build up too much power. Typically this happens a few hundred years after the start of a system that has outgrown its usefulness. Right-wingers worship the Constitution just like Romans worshipped the Senate. The Constitution will let us down if we don't update it to reflect the very different times we are in than when it was written. The founders drafted the laws based on fixing the mistakes of the past, with wiggle room to do the same in the future. We should never feel out of line for wanting to do so.
Woo boy, I do agree the Constitution needs to change and be updated. Yeah, if any right-winger heard me say that they flip
Edit: Actually, I shocked a Trump supporter I worked with once. I like guns and actually want gun reform. He thought all liberals hated guns xD
@BellisarioFaith:
It's not the Democrats who are being the hypocrites here. In 2016, a Supreme Court seat opened up much sooner compared to the election as opposed to this year, and Obama nominated a replacement, Merrick Garland, accordingly. They did try to fill the seat; Republicans were the ones who refused to (because it was a liberal justice), and insisted things like "the people should have a say in who fills the seat" as their reasoning. Numerous Republican politicians were quoted as saying that the position shouldn't be filled until the election was over and we had our new President. It was total bullshit, but that was the justification they used.
But now that an opening came up much closer this time, suddenly most of those politicians have changed their tune and started insisting that the seat needs filling right now and this time is somehow different from last time (it's not), and super-fast-tracking the seat. Democrats aren't being hypocrites by insisting that the seat shouldn't be filled yet; we're calling the Republicans out for going back on what they said four years ago because what they said then is suddenly inconvenient for them now, which makes them the hypocrites.
I know what the Republicans were doing back then. To me, I feel like you should not do what your opponents do to prove a point, but instead be the better person and just do your job is what I'm saying. Does that makes sense?
@sgamer82:
No. No there is not.
If Trump were right, it would not be because he's actively trying to be, it would be an "even a broken clock is right twice a day" moment. Trusting Donald Trump to do anything but tell the most blatant of lies when he thinks it will be to his advantage is folly in the extreme. If Donald Trump tells you the sky is blue, look up and double-check, odds are it's nighttime.
Oh… I guess maybe it's just my own moral where I think there's a little good in everyone, even in Trump. That's probably why I try to hope for good things like the vaccine or even going into space. It's probably why I don't hate people because of my way of thinking.
I'd like you to stop and consider something here; something I've seen mentioned on the other forum I follow politics on. This statement, this assumption, this logic, helps the Trumps and McConnells of the world. It makes their behavior look less reprehensible than it really is because of people thinking "everyone's doing it, they're only a little worse than the rest." It normalizes exactly the kind of behavior that statement implies it does not want to see.
Oh, I see. Well, honestly the reason I said that was that Robby said we can't trust Trump because he lies, so I said that Biden lies too. Maybe it was a bad counter as it backfired on me.
Edit: Honestly, I did a bad argument there and should have thought about it more. I'm still learning how to debate well, so I fall into my quick thinking instead of double checking myself to know that hey maybe this is a bad way to counter someone. o.o
Don't expect the God's Honest Truth , but see the distinction that Joe Biden at his worst is nowhere compared to Trump even at his best. Even if every negative thing ever said about or accused of Biden were God's Honest Truth (tm), he'd still be the lesser of two evils to Donald Trump.
Yeah, I do see Biden as the lesser of two evils though, I guess it's just I don't see Trump extremely bad like how others see him. I just see a dumbass in the Oval Office who doesn't know how to do his job.
Donald Trump has done absolutely nothing to warrant any kind of faith and trust in anyone who isn't chugging Jim Jones' Special Blend Almond Flavorade by the gallon.
Ah, well I don't really listen to 99% of what he says. Honestly the vaccine is a big thing for me as I just want the pandemic to be over and not worry about getting it. So, I feel like even Trump can't be wrong about a vaccine since those actually do work compared to his other "medicine cures." Honestly, even if he says it, I want the FDA and Dr. Fauci to tell me it's okay, so there's my double-check to make sure its safe. I trust them more than Trump. But that's just me.
And like I said earlier, I think it's just I think there's a little good in everyone, so I feel like just this once Trump is actually doing good instead of stupid. Does this make sense?

Speaking for myself, it just seems like basic courtesy to provide a link with a story you're offering or vice-versa. It's why I sometimes put up "for context" posts after link-only posts.
Yeah, I actually really appreciate that. I don't actually pay attention to the news, mostly get it from here or checking allsides. It's just easier for me if someone provides me a link, so it saves me time in trying to looking for it.
