Funny thing is that i'm currently watching Stampede for the first time. Sanji used CoA to hit Smoker. Smoker's take isn't based on the flame. I do have my own thoughts that the flames from Sanji and Kinemon are like Rokushiki to Haki and not actual Haki. Basically things that can compliment Haki

I don't watch the anime and I know they are told some things in advance but haven't they also contradicted the manga other times as well? I'd hesitate to believe anything that is not confirmed in the manga.
I mean I never take the anime as gospel and plus it's so hard to watch, if it weren't for the funimation actors at all I probably wouldn't have anything to do with it any more. Aokiji's time skip appearance and losing a leg first deputed in Film Z if I remember correctly and most recently Laugh Tale. Some information is given to them thats for sure.
The comic however has brought up several instances of Sanji's technique being something Haki related and I've assumed as much since Luffy landed on Amazon Lily. In the SBS Oda was questioned why Sanji doesn't burn himself and his reply was along the lines of Sanji's spirit burns hotter. Haki/spirit yeah I buy it. Then you've got Marigold who specialized in CoA, lighting herself on fire with matches and being protected mystically. Her sister who specializes in CoO got burned by that very fire so certainly it wasn't any strong snake skin that protected Marigold. In a short arc devoted to a tribe of people who all specialized in Haki I don't think that was a coincidence.
Then after Luffy's year and a half of specific Haki training he manages to come up with a technique that lights his arm on fire. Again it's not the lighting of the fire but the protection gained from it as it touched bare skin. A few other characters throughout the series managed a similar feat so I've always chalked it up to some sort of color of arms protection.

Thank you for that succinct explanation of the theory. It got me thinking it may be a very important aspect to the story, besides being generally dope.
Oda intruduced the fire techniques in other characters before giving it Luffy, to introduce us to the idea, then Blackbeard shows up. Teach takes more damage than normal in every case but the first thing we see is Ace burning him. He's darkness, fire fights the dark, Luffy's fire techniques are what will even the playground for the final battle.
Now that I think of it, it seems like an obvious stretch. Any similar theories out there? Am I very late to the party?

Jokes aside, i've been saying that there might be a Juro-gumo inspired character fight for Usopp in Wano.
Just was a spec, not a theory because of no manga proof. Usopp's botanic and arthropod theme would possibly lead him to deal with a Joro-gumo (more likely because this character is usually adapted as female like in Nioh) or Tsuchigumo inspired character. Some females (Perona and Sugar) have caused trouble for the crew and a character like that is possible to me.
After watching my little brother play Nioh like 2 or 3 years back, I kept looking into it. A lot of famous figures and lore is in there. I said i'd play it, but never did. Edward Kelley and Yamata no Orochi inspired characters are in there. Along with some other influences from manga that i've read (Nurahiyon).
Wano has yet to use the Shinsengumi. It doesn't have to, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is one. Unless the Mimawarigumi or Scabbards have already filled that role. Wano already looks like it's going the Tokusatsu inspired route for it's final battle mixed with the feudal era inspirations.
- Mecha - Franky made a promise and there's been a lot of Kairoseki mentioned in his narratives for Dressrosa and Wano/ He might find something in the Germa tech
!
- Kaiju - Kaido's crew, especially the Numbers, Calamities and the Tobi Roppo
!

Well now that Sanji is some kind of Power Ranger, it would be pretty cool if Kidd or Franky made a mecha robot for him to fight Queen

The real life Shinsengumi were made up of Ronin and lower-class retainers, whereas the Mimawarigumi were made up of established Tokugawa hatamoto. Given Orochi's elitism, it's easy to see why Oda went with the Mimawarigumi in his verse.

Thanks for this. I'm not that educated on them. Only the Rurouni and Gintama versions. I will look more into this.

I tend to take Sanji fire as the fire being from friction but haki protecting his leg.
-
I can see the Raid Suit failing and Sanji finally letting out his Okama form. He has long hair like Judge, but with locks. His body is shaped like an Okama and he was too embarrassed to let it out all this time. I think if it is true, it's more monstrous than feminine tho. Also a possible drawback of whenever he lets it out, he becomes more and more like it permanently. It would go along with the narrative of Sanji coming to terms with who he really is. He is a Vinsmoke and is denial of that and his Okama heart.
I can't remember if Inazuma needs Ivankov to go back and forth between genders. I'm gonna go back and check that. It would be a little different from Sanji's situation.
Sanji is able to ignite a fire through friction and change bone structure on faces, maybe he does something to himself. It's kind of similar to how they corrected Yonji's face after Sanji beat him up a little. Sanji is able to generate that much heat despite not having the enhancements of his brothers. Maybe Judge was onto something when he let Sanji leave as a kid. It had to be a win win for him. He could get rid of the failure or Sanji would go out and develop on his own. He was surprised and said he never thought Sanji would be able to use Haki.

So many people hate Sanji's raid suit, I personally love it, can't get enough

It would be better if his family weren't utter scum.

If my family treated me like scum but decided to give me a power ranger suit I'd still wear the suit :ninja:
In all seriousness though, am I the only one who thinks the Black Beard pirates haven't been built up enough as a threat? After this arc we'll have defeated Kaido, who is said to be the strongest living creature and who you should bet on in a one on one fight, and his top three subordinates who all have a billion plus bounties
how do you think Oda is going to buff up the BB pirates as the big final threat? Are they gonna beat shanks and his crew? Are they gonna do something else unexpected, how big will there bounties be?
-
Didn't they take on Marco and some of the leftover WB Pirates?

Ive always been in the mode of thinking that beating Kaido will be a somewhat group effort. We have to also remember that power scaling in OP is entirely up to Oda, where Crocodile was beaten by Luffy fresh out of East Blue, yet Mihawk is the endgame for Zoro in this series. Big Mom is unphased by Kaido, who is the "strongest creature", and both fought equally overnight in Wano.
So its clear to me that even if Kaido and/or Big Mom go down this arc, it will be a concentrated effort, similarly to how Doflamingo was taken out. The way i see it happening is this:
- Both Kaido and Big Moms crews are toast by the end of the arc.
- Kaido gets beaten, maybe all of the supernova take him on. And maybe like how with Law weakening Doffy, he'll be easier to take on for Luffy. Maybe Kid and Luffy deal the final blow.
- Big Mom will escape (imo she's reserved for Elbaf)
- Finishing Wano like this will still allow there to be room for solo fights in the series.
- IMO, Shanks and Blackbeard are fairly young Yonko, and have yet to even show their max potential. Whether or not Luffy fights both, their battles will be harder than Kaido/BM.
- This is why I think Kaido will be a group effort, and Big Mom will be the first solo Yonko Luffy takes out in the future, unless they go the route of BM reclaiming her memory.
How I see the rest of the series (just guessing dont take my opinion too literal):
- Wano: Kaido (Luffy gets some quick demonstration of strength against a Number or something). A concentrated effort.
- Vegapunk Arc: Villain (I swear to hell and back this is happening next; doubt its Vegapunk but maybe the main villain is from CP0/SSG/Marine Science Division or just Kuma)
- Elbaf: Big Mom (Defeated by Luffy solo). Or if shes not the villain, Loki.
- Lodestar: Skirmish with Kid or the Kid pirates. I dont think theyll be allies after Wano and I think he'll show off his strength during the War.
- God Valley (Island sillhouettes mean we are likely visiting the island), Laugh Tale, New Marineford, Mariejois: Dunno the order and just clumping them together but Akainu, Im, Shanks, Blackbeard are probably the top brass left. Gorosei serve under Im, Admirals serve under Akainu. Who knows how many Luffy will fight or what other characters will take out others. You have CP-0 and their likely powerful leader. Kong and whomever serves him. Its alot.
I do think the last arcs, much like the Paramount War, will be a bunch of smaller, breathtaking arcs altogether. Lodestar, God Valley, Laugh Tale, New Marineford, Mariejois, Fishman Island. These locations will probably serve on all fronts of this war or at least serve in preperation for it, similar to how Sabaody, Amazon Lily, Impel Down and Marineford did the same. Hell maybe Vegapunk isnt actually next, but part of the final war set of arcs, though I personally doubt that considering how much seems to revolve around thst character and the setups from the Reverie

Talking about the Sanji and the suit.
What do you think will the redesign look like
Well I love it how it is.
But some stuff will be changed as Sanji hinted
I can see the Germa belt being removed same as the 3 on the cape with maybe a bit toned down design over all
The jet boosters may be placed differently cuz it would hinder some of Sanji's moves where he hits with his heel like Concasse
Further more I still do not get the meaning of the earphones.
Ichiji and Judge both don't have it so what is the point?

Wow what if Franky and Usopp made a Raid suit for everyone!
I shudder the thought. Though that actually would be pretty cool with a bunch of giant dinosaur monsters running around.

First thing that popped into my head when Luffy and Chopper cried for the canister

Greg do you still believe Oda's building up the final fight of this arc as homage to the Legend of Momotaro?
You said you thought Momo, Luffy, Dog Storm, and Marco would face off against Kaido, do you still believe that?

A question about the 5 act Kabuki structure: Is the final climactic battle with Kaido supposed to be in act 5? Or is it supposed to be at the end of act 4 and the final act is completely for the resolution?

The fight is in 4. 5 is the short celebratory wrap-up.

So is the fifth act always shorter in a kabuki play? And what about the length of the acts in general, are they the same length (minus the last act?) or depends it on the specific play instead?
-

Act 1 is slow and very infodump-based, introducing all the characters.
Acts 2 through 4 are where the action happens, usually at the end of each of them is present a drammatic scene affecting negatively the protagonist, with the end of Act 4 functioning as the climax (i.e. the final battle).
Act 5 is the shortest, its mere function that of the epilogue showcasing the aftermaths of the climax.edit: Given how things are going so far, and considering all the scene pieces that need to interact, I'd say Act 4 has to be at least as long as Act 3, though I wouldn't be surprised if it came to be even twice as long (all the battles, even if we don't get 1v1s, plus Kaido's FB, the possible marine intervention, maybe even some more background on the moon clans of Wano).
-
That's exactly my feeling as well. That is, that act 4 will turn out quite much longer than the previous acts.
-
Many thought things would all be resolved at the Wedding and man was that wrong. Everyone knew the plan wouldn't work, but even with that in mind, still felt there wouldn't be a lot after the Wedding.
This arc, to me at least, is about Kaido taking a serious blow to his organization by losing his greatest asset (Wano). That's just the Kaido narrative to me. Overall story tho, I see it as Wano fixing it's internal issues, so it can be an asset to the crew and possibly the world. After this Yonko Saga, I see the pace slowing down and the crew dealing with antagonist more of their speed before returning to the larger scale Yonko/WG issues.
This part is more speculative, but I think we're not too far away from Alabasta, Wano, Germa, Elbaf, and other unaffiliated places forming some kind of union. May possibly even involve the Rev Army. There might be a Greek and/or Roman mythology based country as well. I think this might be a hint.

While you're under the influence and at your best, what is your stance on the future of Kaido, Wano and the crew after this arc? Drake was last shown at a place that didn't seem like Wano right before the timeskip.
1. Do you believe that Wano is the only asset in Kaido's organization?
2. Will Oda continue at this pace of Yonko and larger story narratives for the crew?
3. Is this the complete downfall of Kaido or just a tough loss to make him vulnerable and everyone else rise in status?
-

I meant to say YOU are on really strong meth but I ended up just burning myself.
After this arc Kaido will be dead, Wano will be free, and the crew will be heading to where the last road poneglyph is at.
What does Drake being their matter? He just wanted Kaido's attention which he got I guess.1. Obviously not. The place Drake was at was another.
2. Yes. I think he will.
3. I think Kaido will die.

Who kills Kaido from your perspective? Does Luffy officially take that spot because he's labeled the "mastermind" again or will someone like Kid do it and take that leap?
-

Hard to say. I just think Kaido has to die for the story to move forward. Luffy will defeat him but not kill him so if Kaido doesn't just kill himself while he is weakened then kid could do it yes. It just has to be a villain who does it. Their won't be "fake news" this arc.
-
Luffy "beats" him. Kid kills him. Sets up for their possible confrontation in the future.
-
After Rocks lost at the God Valley Incident, there were rivalries like Garp vs Roger or even WB vs Roger. Were there others that actually cared for the OP? Linlin does.
Many of the speculations that are made to end the story in this thread have left out many things, especially the Supernova. I think most think those guys are just more allies than rivals. Even Law seems like he wants the OP when the Yonkou are out of the picture. The WG and Teach aren't the only obstacles
-
I'd say Black Beard would kill Kaido, but after killing White Beard and obviously in the future Shanks, it seems like overkill
Maybe Kaido's death will be a set up for the next big bad, maybe Rocks returns, or someone else we haven't met yet
-
Or Big Mom will kill him. That actually might be the best outcome as she needs more going for her if she is to continue being part of the story into Elbaf.
-
Big Momโs story is going to be one of redemption, killing one of your old teammates that you just reconnected with isnโt really redeeming
-
Who said that would redeem her? Besides, Kaido is a top notch asshole. If she is meant to actually become "good" in Elbaf then killing Kaido will hardly hurt her chances.
And she has to accomplish something in Wano since we know she won't have her way with Luffy. Killing Kaido will give credibility to her character and sets her up nicely for Elbaf.
-

Im inclined to agree, however i do think Kid will cap the supernova plotline by being the one and only rival Luffy has until he loses to him in some way. If Wano does not paint Kid as a loser (Kid receives a victory similar to Luffy's) , or make him a permanent ally, im going to assume he will have Kid confront Luffy in the future. Just a 1v1, no clash between crews.

How about Law? What is his role in this? Kid has CoC, so he's a king, but Law is a D. and that might play into his goal and if he views Luffy as competition. I look back to Law's convo with Sengoku and how he's questioned the meaning of D and his purpose.
-
There is only one way kaidou can die.
Moria will steal his shadow and leave him in the sun.
-
If Moria steals Kaido's shadow and he is exposed to the sun; the sun explodes.
-
What is the message that Neko has to deliver to Luffy from Marco?
Why does Kaido owe Linlin?
Who is Shanks warning the Gorosei of?
I think all 3 of these will play out as Kaido's defeat nears. We have the Wano issue, but Kaido's Rocks narrative as well.
Last arc, we had Sanji and Linlin's past as the 2 major flashbacks. This arc is Oden and Kaido. This is probably why Kaido's intro to Wano and Higurashi's past wasn't expounded on in full.
-
Not sure what Marco's message for Luffy is and why Kaido owes Linlin but I'm pretty sure Shanks warned the five elders of Blackbeard of course.
Kaido and Linlin both have the "Rocks" narrative.going.for them.
How long were the Sanji and Linlin Flashbacks? I don't really remember. Oden's was 16 chapters but it wasn't as focused on him as Sanji's and Linlin's flashbacks, right?
-
I'm pretty sure Shanks warned the five elders of Blackbeard of course.
After marineford and the last two years when he became yonkou do gorosei really need warning about BB?
I think it's about luffy, shanks knows luffy got the attention of gorosei now that he became 5th yonkou but luffy can't handle full wg force right now and tells gorosei that if they attack luffy they attack him. Luffy's picture was among the lights Im was picking for erase.
-
Kaido wants a cool, big, Epic death. But he's a bad guy so he's not gonna get it. He'll die a lame, stupid death after all is said and done. That's gonna be his punishment.
