Glad to see the NFL continuing its high-scoring air raid offensive era with a game that was even more low-scoring than the Super Bowl! How are we feeling about our teams this fall?
2019 NFL Season

I was optimistic about the Bears until I saw Trubisky overthrowing his targets and throwing into double coverage. I can only hope it's just rust from not playing during the preseason.
I'm watching the Browns game, and their offense is going to be fun to watch this season.
-
Stidham inherits this offense with Jakobi, Dorsett, N'Keal, Gunner, Flash and possibly AB and Julz after 12 retires in 2-3 seasons. McDaniels gets the HC role 8 years from now. Jerod can possibly get the official defensive playcalling title.
Glad they finally cut Braxton Berrios and got Bolden back. He's earned his away experience. His preseason looked nice. The RB group is already loaded.
This is the best secondary group that i've seen in my 15 years as a fan. I just wish that Duke would've fit in. It's only the 1st week and we lost a solid piece of the O line. Hope Marcus is ok. I understand that KVN wasn't present, but I was hoping for more pressure on Ben last night.
Also, the NFL's in trouble
-
What a game tonight. Knew the Texans left way too much time on the clock, give Brees anything more than 10 seconds and you're doomed (unless you're the Vikings). The defensive playcalling didn't do anything to help either.
Although I will say, the AFC South actually looks pretty tough so far after being projected as average to garbage. They'll probably get a fair amount of injuries like they typically do, but I could see my Falcons going 0-4 against them especially after that performance against Minnesota.

Don't get me wrong, Patriots are still favourites, but at least they won't curb stomp everyone.

Eh, I'm not too worried (although I'm talking after the Philly game where the defense showed up a little bit). All AFCS teams have glaring weaknesses that Quinn and co should be able to exploit.
And the Falcons went 0-4 against the AFCN last year and 1-3 against the AFCE the year before. Even in their magical 2016 season, they went 2-2 against the AFCW, losing close games against KC and the Chargers. They really play down to AFC opponents.

At least the games won't be blowouts as much anymore and Jakobi can get more snaps

AFC North is wack
-
Guess the NFC East has competition (finally).
-
So Brady looks washed and the Patriots don't have an offense. We won't be seeing them in the Super Bowl right? Ha.
Right now, the Ravens, Pats, Texans and Chiefs look like the clear division leaders. Wild card teams are Bills and Steelers, though the Titans will probably overtake Pittsburgh. That means the Pats would likely play either the Texans or Bills in the divisional round. Yes, Texans dominated the Pats last night, but they always underperform in the playoffs. Bills have no playoff experience. That sets up either Ravens or Chiefs in the AFC championship. I don't trust Andy Reid with shit in the playoffs. Ravens are everyone's pick for Super Bowl, but I feel like Belichick will be able to figure Lamar out in a rematch.
So, in conclusion, the Pats will beat the Niners in the Super Bowl.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
After tonight's game, it is possible that the Niners travel to Washington DC for the first round of the playoffs :ninja:

I thought pats D was supposed to be good lol

I see a lot of talk around Jameis. He has a lot of great numbers and there is a question of why he isn't being praised for it. I can't answer this, but I will say that only casuals will praise his game. You would have to be a stat watcher or a fantasy junkie who doesn't watch games, to think that is the way of a great QB.
A great QB throws it away, instead of taking a sack or throwing a pick six. I just watched a compilation of all of the pick sixes of the season so far. Jameis was there at least 3 times. That is the life of a stat padder. Throw it as many times as possible and you'll get your stats. All that stat padding and your team has 8 losses and no playoff hopes.
The issue with most teams is that they don't put enough effort into changing their identity when the new season starts. Why are teams not trying to adjust? So many new coaches are made head coaches at the end of the season, instead of waiting it out. If you have to fire the head coach, your playoff chances are ridiculously low. So why not wait out the season? Then when the new season starts, the situation is better than a new coach coming in or stepping up from coordinator duties.
Prime example is New England. You might see 3 different identities throughout the season of them, but when those last 2 games of reg. season come in, they know who they are. Special teams have been aggressive all season, despite the rotating kickers. Speaking of kickers. Ryan Allen (punter) was consistently good for multiple seasons, but the decision was made to bring in competition via a draft pick (Jake). Bill brings in competition every season to test the vets and younger guys, also it functions as a good way to shape up the roster when the reg season starts. It isn't new or bad. My issue is, why bring in competition for Ryan, when Gostkowski has been consistently mediocre for the last 3 seasons. Not only has Gostkowski been mediocre, he went out before mid season for surgery. Now you're forced to look elsewhere for a kicker.
If i'm not mistaken, Cowboys have consistently been a top 2 offense for the bulk of the season and the Pats held them to less than 10 points. 3 of the Boogeymen are leading the league in interceptions and Jason (#2 in the secondary) got hurt right before the Browns game. His snaps was lessened as he fought through the injuries, but had to stop after the Eagles win. So, against the best offense and without our #2 corner, he Pats held them to 9 points. JC is young, but has stepped up in his sophomore year. If that isn't good, then I don't know what is.
-
Well, we didn't finish dead last this year. Guess that's something. :/
-
So the Falcons went from 1-7 and in the running for the #1 overall pick, to 7-9 with a worse pick than they had last year, second place in the division, and they're keeping their coach. Bleh. Sure, I liked the swagger they had in the last half of the season, but I don't feel like that'll carry over to next year. Jameis ending the season (and probs his time with the Bucs) on Pick #30 was glorious though.
Playoff Predictions:
Pats over Titans
Bills over Texans
Saints over Vikings
Eagles over SeahawksPats over Chiefs
Ravens over Bills
49ers over Eagles
Saints over PackersPats over Ravens (Lamar gets shut down)
49ers over Saints (something terrible will once again happen to the Saints)The Pats will then get the better of Kyle Shanahan once again and no one will be happy. Let the misery commence!
-
PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiICKKKKKKKKKKKK SIXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX!
Woooooooooooooooo Titans!
-
DOWN GO THE PATS!
-
That was a hell of a last like 10 minutes. The penalties to run the clock down, that absolutely perfect punt near the end, and then the Patriots ending the game on a pick six and then an awful attempt at tossing the ball around for the last play.
-
what an extremely satisfying day of football

We're free
We're free

Why so much Pats hate?

-
Why so much Pats hate?
The Patriots have 100% been the villains of the NFL for most of the past decade. Between their dominance and the various scandals that have popped up around them, they're easy to hate. Think of people's satisfaction when Golden State or Miami lost in the NBA Finals, then triple that.
-
The best QB in football history and the best coach in football history lost to the fucking Titans.
Just take that in.
-
Lmaoooo what a wet turd of a game by the Saints. At home. Against Kirk Cousins. 0-3 on my predictions so far, but I'm happy and will be even happier if I go 0-4. Go Hawks.
-
Why so much Pats hate?
my best friend's bro is a cop loving MAGA douche pat fan and I never want him to experience happiness, especially from a team led by a MAGA hat trump bestie

Well, I can't speak for that douche, but please know tons of Pats fans up here despise Trump.

When you're not a real sports fan and you make it about politics or social issues, you have to go by some narrative fed to you. Then there's also the fact that many teams go long spans of time w/o a decent season. "Fans" get desperate and have to find some enjoyment in the sport. That is finding something to despise and hate.
The interesting thing is that I remember "the Pats are done" narrative after the 2011 loss to that great Giants team. They ended up winning 3 more rings after that. Josh might be gone, but I highly doubt Brady or Belichick are done in NE. With a higher draft pick and a loss in the WC round, this next season will be a revenge tour. Many "fans" just started to care about sports in the last 3 years. They don't understand that this is temporary and Belichick will create a whole new identity for this team as he does every season.

A bad Titans team rolled them down the last time they'd played during the season though. Brady has thrown exactly zero touchdowns in the last eight quarters he's played against Tennessee.

They were great with that 9-7 Record?
-
They were great with that 9-7 Record?
Tuck? JPP? Prince? Prime Victor Cruz. Mario and Hakeem. They weren't just great, they were dangerous. Regular season records don't matter for teams with playoff experience. Fewell came from the Bills team that knew us so well. Stat watching is different than experiencing the schemes and play making. They were just as dangerous as Straham and them boys from some seasons prior
-
Well shit with those names that record looks even more fucked.
-
I like how none of the teams listed in the poll are in the playoffs [anymore]
-
Might be the 9999999th time i've come into a thread and not notice a poll
There's more to a team than a reg season record. Injuries and trades happen. It all depends on what they do once they enter the playoffs. Certain teams have been through enough that if they just get a chance, they'll upset any team.
Even in this season, Titans were able to run the ball all over a team that is great against the run.
-
I like how none of the teams listed in the poll are in the playoffs [anymore]
I like how with the exception of the Saints and debateably the Rams how random the picks were.
-

oh Bears were definitely some people's NFC favorites
-
Well shit they got a rude awakening.
-
Speaking of rude awakenings…
-
Eh, hard to avoid whiffing on the poll. Niners and Packers were bad last year, Seahawks and Vikings seemed a bit too average to put in as either real or joke options.
Can we excise Baltimore from Maryland now? Delaware or New Jersey can have it.
-
-
The Chiefs are the masters at bumbling their way into a win while still looking like shit for a lot of the game.
-
That Titans win adds a lot of context to the Pats game and further proves how it's about how dangerous you are in the playoffs and not reg season records if you make the playoffs
-
49ers look like the best overall team and blew out Green Bay in the regular season, but the Packers have been battle tested so many times that I wouldn't be surprised if they pull off a stunner. Just hoping there's no refereeing controversy, I think Seattle would've lost even if that final first down never happened, but the Packers are on thin ice in terms of getting calls and going into Super Bowl weekend is such a drag whenever one of those controversies occurs.
Titans-Chiefs has the potential to be a marvelous game. I feel like KC's defense won't be able to hold back Derrick Henry, but Mahomes should perform much better against the Titans than Brady and Lamar.
If Rodgers and Mahomes make the Super Bowl, with Jake Fromm declaring for the draft, State Farm is going to take over the world.
-
Why the fuck can't the Packers play more like this against the Vikings? What do I have to sacrifice to Odin to get this?!
-
And Kansas City Chiefs are the Super Bowl Champions. YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!
-
About time they won, or hell, even went, to the super bowl anytime recently. Mahomes' playing didn't inspire much confidence though, even if he did have a few good plays. Game was too close for comfort.

Damien Williams should have gotten the MVP he was the whole reason they won.
-
Not a big football fan, but I'm happy for the Chiefs. First Super Bowl win for them in 50 years!
-
All I know is the Patriots will make there return next year for the Super Bowl! BWHAHAHA
