What do you think about the design of King and Queen and related 'influences'/ tributes?
Why Devon's fruit is dog-dog, not fox-fox ?
Wow, there's such a bag of oddities to unpack. King could be any number of SM-related films but we know for certain Oda is a Tarantino fan so The Gimp from Pulp Fiction (Croc and Robin's design origin) is a safe bet as to having informed some of the design.
Queen seems like Oda wanting to do an okama-style FotNS bruiser. Kinda like an okama kung-fu Obelix.
How high do you think is the possibility that Blackbeard will hold Hogback (and probably Perona too) as hostage(s) and order Moria to go to Wano and bring Kaidou to him? That way Oda can close Moria's character arc by avenging his crew through helping Luffy defeat Kaidou while ALSO giving Blackbeard Kaidou's fruit.
While I don't speak for him, my gut regarding Moria is, instead of it being a complex plan, instead, this is somewhere Oda felt was an appropriate time to utilize Moria. Thematically, things just seemed to gel so he brought him out of retirement because it's surprising for many readers but also makes 'sense'. If that's indeed the case, then Oda is probably wondering how to best utilize Moria, if at all, right this very moment.
One could make the argument that Moria has unfinished business with Kaido (and the Ryuma theft) but just because it's a dangling thread doesn't mean Oda will follow up on it. If Moria's thematic journey and usefulness will have an impact on the story, yes, expect to see him. But if Oda doesn't find a good reason to use him, it would make just as much sense for Moria to lick his wounds and prepare for the final war.
I don't feel too comfy weighing in on it simply because Luffy's team seems extremely OP right now. You have Luffy gaining followers everywhere he goes, winning the hearts of the people, and many of Kaido's own 'acquired' headliners seem primed to revolt if they see a weakness. The samurai are bonkers tough and they'll no doubt be fighting on the night of a full moon which means ALL THOSE MINK are very likely to go Sulong.
I'm having a tough time seeing why adding Moria (who would seem to want to oppose Kaido) could help that OP positioning. We need to see a sample of what Kaido's forces REALLY have to offer. Otherwise I think Moria is just superfluous from a cooperative perspective.
Greg, you once replied that Kaidou might die and that it'll feel "kinda sad" to us Readers.
Now with Moria on Panel again, do you think there is a Chance Moria Ends up with Kaidou's corpse? (IDK if this has been brought up on the recent pages)
Oof, that's pretty dark. I dunno about that.
Is moria being played as the type who actually care about his crew?
Makes sense. He cares about those core members but doesn't give two craps about the zombies (aside from usefulness) is how it seems.
How did you feel Greg with the death of Absalom ?
This is One Piece and given Oda's wordplay, I can't help but wonder if Devon considers a state that Absalom is in as dead.
I know I'm reaching there but she could easily be trying to eff with him. Since we know that DF powers may be (with great difficulty and) copied -albeit more often than not poorly- it's possibly that Absalom may be 'dead' in some other way and they simply 'stole' or 'copied' his ability.
Then again! SURE! Maybe he is dead. But by killing him and people asking, "Is he really dead!? That's a shame," Oda knows that he has created a desire to see him again. Oda usually rewards fans down the line whom he affects that way but maybe he's actually gone. That seems a bit too cruel for Oda, killing a character off-screen but HEY! I'd love to be proven wrong. Then again, maybe this will have something more to do with an end-game revelation related to the mystery of Red Hawk and such. Do DF users leave an imprint on the fruit? On those close to them at death?
Oooh damn….That....ooooh....that gives me another idea for the damn Red Hawk theory.
Fruit powers transfer after death, but what if they can partially transfer to other people? What if Luffy inherited some of the Mera Mera Fruit because he and Ace were so close? Hmmmm....
