Well, as long as they use the "B" team, they shouldn't kill another route…hopefully
It's the TeamFourStar Thread with DBZ Abridged and Pokemon things

I mean, the only REALLY serious losses they had were Traktorr and to a lesser extent, Punchilulu. The rest were disposable and were going to be replaced anyway. With Rotom and Hippopotas being guaranteed capturable encounters, and Riolu apparently being free game (since Rotom is) they can still build a solid team.
As long as they grind and remember to buy potions, they should be able to get to the League, assuming that Fantina's Mismagious doesn't wipe them, of course.
-
That was glorious. I was a little salty about Grant killing Traktorr but this makes up for it. Kirran outright saying Cleo sucks got a big chuckle out of me.
-
@Cyan:
They can dig out of this hole. Good thing about drafting Narkama is that next is a Fighting gym (bad thing is that leveling up an Abra before getting an Exp. Share is godawful.) They can potentially get a Gible (and therefore a Garchomp) soon.
Actually the next Gym is Ghost. Platinum changed the order of Gyms around a bit. Also the Exp. Share is available to them right now, as soon as they go through the gate to Cycling Road and talk to Dawn's father.
-
They were so worried about losing their starter they killed two other things. Nevermind if they'd sacrificed one thing first, Cleo could have gone in fresh and attacked, surviving the one hit it took. The skunk only had like 3 HP left, anything would have killed it. Cleo didn't need to die, they didn't need to heal the penguin twice. Or if they'd stocked up on better potion.
But the main problem is they were just stupidly unlevelled there. Half their team was 10 levels behind the enemy and couldn't do anything but swap in to die. When the one psychic killed two of their guys they maybe should have stopped and levelled some more before fighting the boss of the base.
-
WELP.
! More like Instagibbed, am I right?
-
I spent the whole episode thinking there was no way they'd get it to third form. Yep.
-
Thankfully, contrary to what they seem to think at the moment there is still a way to get Gabite later. Way later, mind you, but still. Here's what they have to do:
1: Evolve Poppi Roxx.
2: Evolve Ping.
3: Get a Rhyhorn later and evolve it. (This is the most problematic part as they only get one shot at it, and it's in a route where there are plenty of other things they could feasibly find instead.)
4: Get an Onix later and evolve it.If they can pull off all these things, their only potential catchable encounter on Victory Road will be a lv41 Gabite.
-
I'm confused why they cared about their Geodude surviving lol
-
I'm confused why they cared about their Geodude surviving lol
Because they'd had it longer and were already attached. Plus, it's close to evolving which means they can then trade it and get it to third form (along with their resident space wasting psychic) and the way things are going, they can reeeeeally use those third form mons and their advanced stats.
The Gible for all that it would be an endgame monster that could carry them then, would have just been an experience share sink for a chunk of time. Dragons are typically not great in their first forms and evolve reeeeeally late and get all their good moves really late. It might have been okay statwise if they'd gotten it to form 2, but that form 3 payoff was 40 hours away. Woulda been amazing for the elite 4, would have been bad up until then.
They weren't thinking about that, they were just worried about self destuct killing anything they put out.
Which is why they should stop trying to triple share the experience and for the time being at least just leave their penguin up front to kill everything and over-level, (especially in a rock area) and just let something in back soak up the exp. They could really use one overlevlled monster right now.
I'm more bothered by them pinning all their ghost gym hopes on that rabbit.
-
Yep, clearing the game with the Starter is always a solid option, and would be safer than what they're doing.
They're struggling to grind up properly as they're being surpassed in level by trainers on the route, so they are definitely spreading themselves way too thin on the exp.
What would truly solve their woes is getting to the Vs. Seeker, then the grinding becomes faster and controllable. It's just sad that Cleo got labeled as useless since they don't IV train.
I think the worst part of that decision is they so pointlessly threw away a Pokemon they had put a lot of levels into.
Even with a bad nature, Luxray's attack stat would have been decent, and they were just noticing her poor defenses and really harping on Rivalry. -
Lani has apparently finished recording all his lines for episode 60. So…. progress? (I guess that means the script is also done.)
@F13rC:

Because Rivalry is terrible, one of the worst abilities in the game. She literally handicapped herself half the time for no reason.
ANd IV training is pretty much out of the question in a nuzlocke. IV training in general is a waste of time for the base game. It's only competitive that min-maxes things to where that's required. IV trained mons kind of break the game and the experience of your mon being unique.
-

I'm assuming there will be plenty of grinding before that gym so they don't easily wipe. Even if they over-level, Mismagius has potential to go on a killing spree thanks to its speed. That was the hardest gym in the game that I remember.
-
With Luxray's attack stat, I feel Cleo would have been fine even in cases where Rivalry was a detriment.
But after looking at her available movepool for Gen IV, it's evident that this generation was the worst generation for Luxray. Her best Electric attacks were special (her only special moves outside of hidden power) and her strongest stab physical moves were Thunder Fang and Spark.
Like Absol in gen III, its best stat wastes its stab.
Thinking back, I used mine as a mixed attacker in Diamond because of this, and iirc it ran Discharge, Charge Beam, Iron Tail, and Crunch during my playthrough.
Mine had Rivalry and it was serviceable, but not as great as I remember it.Seems they are almost to that Vs. Seeker, which they would already have if they weren't in Platinum.

Why is this still a Pokemon thread? Everytime I see it's updated I'm massively disappointed.

You just massively disappointed someone.
-

Because its the only thing team four star is doing right now, and "TFS streams games" isn't really worth its own thread at this point in time.
They've only just finished recording Lani's lines for episode 60 and thats supposedly going to be movie length. So… don't expect any actual DBZA announcements till like, the end of summer.
They might air a part of it at cons over the summer maybe.
-
We could rename this thread, to include the streams, and the d&d, and whatever else they do.
-
Really? It is coming out at the end of AUGUST?
REALLY?
I mean, there is patience, and not rushing art, and I am sure they want it to be worth it, but fucking AUGUST?
Really testing the limit of fan patience and they are still being coy if it's the last one.
-

End of summer was a good guess on my part.
Really? It is coming out at the end of AUGUST?
REALLY?
They've said repeatedly that it would be movie length and that required shenanigans. Equivilent in length to a standard 5-7 episodes which were typically bi-monthly. And probably the last episode. Also a whole bunch of actual real world legal hassles get in the way and they didn't know if they could even make it at all.
Yeah it'll have been a few months since the Christmas special, but given the circumstances it's fine.

Yeah, it'll have been a few months since the Christmas special, but given the circumstances it's fine.
I mean, the amount of extra work they put in to actually create their own scenes using decades-old footage probably takes time. No doubt about that, and I'm cool with it, but man does it feel they are REALLY dragging their feet on this, legal issues aside. It'll hopefully be worth it in the end, but still, come on.
-
I'm sad that I have class late on Thursdays so I just barely catch them streaming the Metal Gear that's the most fun to watch.
-

Again, most episodes, that clock in at 12-15 minutes, took about 2 months to come out. Sometimes a bit longer. This one is going to be 5-7 times that length, so purely from a production standpoint it taking 6-8 months makes perfect sense. Add in that they obviously want to nail the finale and that adds a bit. And then add in the legal nonsense which pretty much killed all their production in 2017 and well… it is what it is. So it being several months out from their last episode which was the Christmas special makes perfect sense.
I'm sure if the legal crap hadn't come along they would have just kept releasing them in 10 minute chunks... and we'd still only be on episode 64 or 65 by now and still waiting pretty much the same amount of time for the end of Cell.
Yugioh ABridged used to go 6 months at a time between normal episodes before he got someone else to do the editing.

Update video from TFS
-
Awesome! Update!
Also, I find something interesting here.
He gives no mention that "This is going to be the final episode of the entire series guys" and in fact, he specifically says he wants it to be the "Perfect ending to this saga"
There be hope for the Boo arc yet!!
-
3 Million subscribers?! Whoa
Regardless if they do more DB, I'm so looking forward to this! -
About bloody time they've given an update.
Good art can't be rushed, blah blah, but they are still DRAGGING their feet on this one.

Yeah, they've been saying several times on their Discord server that it might be the end of the series, but they always emphasize the fact that nothing has actually been decided yet on that front, and that they do, at the very least, still have plenty of stuff they want to do for the Boo-arc.
-
For anyone who is interested, they are doing a 10 year anniversary DBZA marathon with commentary on Twitch right now!
-

The issue is that they can't monetize DBZA. The other stuff they CAN monetize like the gaming content and that new Bento thing they're doing have to kinda take precedent. Gotta pay the bills before you work on the free passion project everyone loves.
Plus, part of that whole "Pay the bills" idea is that they actually got contracted to do the official dub for something. It's a movie called "Hells" by MADhouse.
That's literally never happened before. We've never had them work on a project like this at the same time as a DBZA ep. I'd be surprised if it DIDN'T have an affect on the release window. If they want to be taken seriously as a studio and hopefully get more projects like that in the future, then they have to prioritize this over the thing they don't get paid at all for.
-
They've sort of implied that if they can keep going with DBZ, it'd be more like what they're doing on this episode, a big chunk of story when it's ready… rather than trying to get out a 15 minute video every ~six weeks.
-

Oh the situation and reasons given/implied are 100% legit and justified, it's just frustrating that it's taken this long when they could have wrapped it up and moved on ages ago.
But they'll do it on THEIR terms and you gotta respect that, they are gonna make sure it is as good as possible. Still sucks that it's gonna be in late August at LEAST.

Another update from Team Four Star with a preview of Episode 60!
-
The real hold up has been Kaiser trying to figure out how old Cell actually is.
-
Good to see they are still plugging away and they got shit to show.
-
Part 1 of Episode 60 premiers on 8/31.
Also apparently Probait paid them enough to do Metal Gear SurVIve. Fun times ahead.
-
That Probait dude is the one that is making so many of their projects if not possible, at the very least safe.
-

Man who is this Probait
-
It is a man, or put some man to play as himself for the Unexpectables.
Has a ton of disposable income. -
Lanipator once joked that Probait was their executive producer based on the multiple thousands of dollars he drops during streams.
I don't think it's a joke anymore.
-
About fucking time. They have been DRAGGING their feet with this.
-
And here it is. Watched the live stream of it and it was amazing.
-
! I'm always up for shitting on Gohan.
-
Looking back at Ep. 30, the parts were all uploaded within about a week but I wouldn't be shocked if Part 2 of this is in October and Part 3 comes on Christmas.
-

Well, they said in the live stream that Part 2 would be coming out "soon". Of course, considering this one took over a year to come out, "soon" could mean anything.
-
"All according to cake" was the joke that made me crack up.
I'll be honest, this wasn't really abridged as much as it should have been. Easily could have taken half the time and still had plenty of jokes.
-
The SSJ2 transformation was really great once again.
Not as much comedic abridging going on, which I like the most, but I thought it ended up being entertaining regardless and appropriate for what the source material is.
-
That was great, even if they have dripfed a large part of the episode out over the year. Maybe not worth the wait, but if the whole is delivered in short order, probably was.
The plan joke killed me.
-

The plan, as they announced ages ago, was to premiere each part a week apart. Though when last I heard, Kaiser wasn't 100% done with part 3 yet and is currently working frantically to ensure it goes up on time while still being not shite.
