    • RE: Re:Zero

When I first watched this show, I got hooked with the mansion ark experiencing just how differently characters would act based on Subaru's actions.
It was simply fascinating to me since it made it clear each character has their own agenda, and it really made the conclusion to each loop feel like it had a tremendous payoff.

I absolutely adore the dub they released for the show on Crunchyroll, and that pushed me to start reading the Light Novels.
Once I got through the ten that were on Bookwalker at the time, I read straight through to the current point in the web novels, and then read the tertiary What If stories the author released for critical junctures in the story.
I love it all so much, Re: Zero is my favorite story. I live for all the character interactions, and can't wait for all the moments awaiting anime viewers with the rest of Arc 4 and beyond.

It is to be expected of an adaptation from a book series, but we miss out on so much that was cut out from the Web Novel going to the Light Novel, and from there going to the anime.
For instance, in today's episode: (WN spoilers)

! Echidna's brief pitch for her contract read more like a manic confession, and was much, much longer.
I feel like they got the gist of it across, but the way she kept talking on and on really gives you that incomprehensible mindset that an Archbishop of Sin like Petelgeuse expresses when no one bothers to interrupt them.
There were more alternate presents explored, and some of the ones we saw went even further with Subaru's body being possessed by black shadows after his suicide and Reinhardt literally remaking the world with his sword in his attack against Puck.
Imagine getting that powerful because a sword just loves you that much. Seems legit.

I do hope they touch up the English dub's second season at some point; while I love the VAs they have for Garf, Lewes, and Echidna, some of recorded lines have very noticeable audio distortions.
I think they changed Wilhem's VA and it is very distracting in that first episode. Latest episode has been my favorite of the dub so far.

Whenever Blitzo looked at Spindle, I just think he saw something different than everyone else.
This may extend to other things too…

! Honestly, I think the fossil Frankenstein's Pokemonsters is a fun idea.
Seeing what they gave us, it would've worked better if the fossils started as smol' little mismatched abominations unto Arceus, but evolved into a second stage that bridged the fusion and looked like a fully functioning living creature.
! Instead we get these mismatches where two of them look like they almost worked out well for the mons (Dracozolt and Arctovish), with their two ghoulish, half-baked relatives looking like they were made to suffer (Arctozolt and Dracovish).
! Edit: Looking at better pictures, they're all suffering, and I really wish we had the other half of Dracozolt's body. Doesn't look quite like a Kentrosaurus with how the legs are, but it makes me wish we were getting a Kentrosaurus Pokemon.

A dragon level threat only need be perceived as powerful enough to be a threat to multiple cities.
Anyone who can't catch Nyan or withstand his building mincing claws gets wrecked.
It was a poor match-up, hitting something closer to Darkshine's durability with an Incinerate! sphere that can be reach within Drive Knight's body.

Likely would have done significant damage to anyone with exposed flesh and Genos, that doesn't have a black luster or a psychic barrier.
PPP's Bristly Hair upgrade most likely would not protect him if Nyan was willing to get closer to him.

Besides, Flash basically one-shots both of the Ninja Demons, only delaying to ensure he gets them both in the same strike.

      Even later,

      @Satsuki:

! That looked like a pink White Diamond to me

! A multitude of Reddit users* speculate that Jasper fused with White.
It's odd that this supposed fusion doesn't drastically change from White Diamond's silhouette (same number of hair spikes, limbs, eyes), but the gems seem to match (White's forehead, Jasper's nose).
! Wondering myself if that leads to the giant demonic gem corruption, given the pink they share, but it could be a different creature entirely since we don't see any gems on it.

I always enjoyed the option to use the Vs. Seeker to rematch trainers you beat previously with expanded teams and higher level Pokemon.
Depending on their team, you'd get a lot of desired EVs and EXP compared to fighting random encounters, but it did involve a lot of biking around to reset them.
The only things I'd change about that system are to expand the amount of trainers you could rematch, remove the chance of failure, and to give them a different means of advancing their team (rather than being tied to some event you'd need a guidebook to figure out).

      @Mandorle21:

Genos and Bang weren't summoned, even though i don't remember exactly the reason.

Child Emperor takes on Metal Knight's warning to not trust everyone and excludes both Genos and Bang from the MHA assault: Genos for his newcomer background and suspect origin from an annihilated city, and Bang for "allowing" Garou to escape.

You know, things they change to give some cohesion where the webcomic jumped straight into it, mostly.

    • RE: General Monster Hunter Thread

Played 8.5 hours once it came out, and near ready to get back into it.
Accidentally missed that you don't get to keep augments when you start upgrading past the High Rank gear, so I wasted a little time teaching Tempered Vaal Hazak the pain of Clutch Claw Lance.

Almost done with the MR2 Optional Quests, but sadly I feel like a majority of the monsters found there will have niche armor at best (lvl 4 slots and armor being their best qualities), so I only really grab an armor piece if it might be useful later.
At least you don't need as many parts as before to upgrade weapons, which helps with all the things that branch out.

Palico Snap might have events that only occur on Expeditions; in general I like the concept, just wish the Grimalkynes cycled through their different actions more often.

I'm very curious to see what else reintroducing the Fanged Beast skeleton entails for future title updates, since it's unlikely it'd be a one and done usage.

Hopefully it means Blangonga or Kecha Wawa returns, though outside of Rajang and Gammoth, none of the other beasts would be elder/elder-level threats and probably not great end-game content…

    • RE: Oh no, there goes Tokyo. It's a Godzilla thread!

It's not that I believe a compelling human cast is an unachievable goal for a Godzilla film, it's just that a majority of the attempts have been underwhelming or misguided.

The struggle is that Godzilla and the other kaiju are gargantuan forces of nature and its hard to compete when just a little showtime from them can make the film for an audience.
The human cast should be serving as proper buildup for those hype monster moments, but usually end up feeling like meandering busywork that just take away time from our favorite monsters.

Just imagine a James Bond film where he takes a backseat for a majority of the run to focus on the struggles of a family that was stitched into the plot.
It's either a daring stroke to change up the dynamic and makes James Bond the lesser seen darkhorse in a film that bears his name or is a criminally inept move that was poorly executed.
But I suppose it isn't a fair 1:1 comparison until we see how Godzilla plays at poker.
