The last episode was good. Nice to see 17 be the winner. I wish they'd had shown his family. Not so nice to see Frieza still round. Everybody acting so shocked at 17's wish was funny, considering how obvious it was from the moment we found out about the destruction of the universes. 18 being all, "Oh no, what about your boat" was just dumb lol. Pan kicking Vegeta in the face was satisfying. I wish they'd jumped a bit into the future to right before the DBZ epilogue. I don't want the next series to still take place before it. >_>
Dragonball Discussion Kai: Broly but this time it's not Broly

18 should have said the boat thing in a teasing way.

18 should have said the boat thing in a teasing way.
It's kind of like the same problem as with Chichi's worrying. The intention was to point out 17 was acting uunusuallyin a sort of "are you okay with that?" worried kind of way, but the wording to express it is awkward.
This is universes we're talking about here, yet she is worried about 17's comparatively minor wish. Chichi always places the safety of her kids above saving the world. Shortsightedness is again something pretty common with DB in general.
-
Hey…they forgot to revive King Kai again...
I love how DB again manages to bring out the best in a jumbled mess of nonsense. A Goku and Frieza team up seems obvious, but I love how they waited to the last minute--after everyone is beaten to their limit--to bring this out. It made for a good pay off.
I'm disappointed we never got to see 17's family. Until that day comes, I'm just going to imagine that it's some 4 foot tall lady and a one child. That's my head cannon.
Lastly, I like how the Zenos explained they were never going to erase all the universes (barring a bad wish), but stating that really makes me wonder what happened to those other universes that the did erase? They must have really sucked, especially when Universe 9 is allowed to exist.

The only casualty on all of this was frost.

Speaking of those other universes, I hope they've also been brought back with the vague wish. I would assume they have been, but this having been Zeno's plan makes me more unsure than I was previously.
It would make sense since it would give us another 5(?) universes we know nothing about.

Anyone knows why the other Zeno was changing constantly his pose trying to copy the present Zeno? I don't know if it was explained already….
-
Considering that we know nothing about U1, 5, 9 and 12 already, I don't see the need.

Zeno represents the audience of the show, so part of the audience goes along with the wishes of the most energetic or showy side, in order to keep unity.

Even if it represents "the audience" it looks a little bit bizarre that everytime Zeno moves the other one does the opposite. Something like that has to be explained in the series. It makes no sense.

Pretty sure it's just supposed to be a cute little quirk

Super managed to make me get hyped over Frieza and Goku team attacking. Never thought I'd ever be ok with even slight Tsundering from Frieza.
-

They showed Frost. It was really quick, but yea, he got revived as well.
-
Hey…they forgot to revive King Kai again...
Well hey if it leads to Goku getting slow chased again by him, Bubbles, and Gregory again I'm fine with it.
-
11/10 final episode
Super wasn't perfected but it enjoyed the hell out of me… DFar more than any other series in the last years
-
I liked the ending overall, but the whole "there was no danger because Zeno can see the future and he knew the winner was going to wish every universe back" thing was dumb.

Was just about to post this.
We know there's the whole thing with mortal levels, and maybe this tournament really was a giant ""experiment"" to see if any moral could pass on their own wish to do it, but does it really seem like something Zeno would come up with? Makes you wonder how much was Zeno being Zeno, or the Grand Priest using Zeno as a proxy

let's be honest…95% of dragonball super is that hype song that happens during the final part of the biggest fights@RoboBlue:
I liked the ending overall, but the whole "there was no danger because Zeno can see the future and he knew the winner was going to wish every universe back" thing was dumb.
well it also said that IF the wish was selfish he was gonna delete everything..so while he rpedicted it, it seems like the predictions are not absolute.

For the love of god,
pleasestart aging people whenever Super comes back. I want Goku teaching Uub, teen Goten and Trunks, Pan learning martial arts, etc.Yes!
Also, for the love of Beerus, please Toei, just release MHA quality animated 26 episodes max seasonal DB episodes every year.
-
ahaha, looked now on youtube that there were people who organized huge events to see this last episode..lihe dozens and dozens of people watching it like it was a movie or something
the franchise is stil going strong i see XD

That scene with 18 was great, the genuine concern over 17 not wishing for his stupid thing was one of the few unintentionally funny moments this arc provided.
oh and great episode btw, I never expected I would enjoy seeing Goku and Freeza team up like this. -

oh and great episode btw, I never expected I would enjoy seeing Goku and Freeza team up like this.yeah, when she said that i though "there are things more important than a boat..also, bulma is a literal billionaire, she can buy him a friggin boat tomorrow"…which is what ended up happening.

But at least the door is open for more adventures. For the love of god,
pleasestart aging people whenever Super comes back. I want Goku teaching Uub, teen Goten and Trunks, Pan learning martial arts, etc. This could work really well. Then Pilaf and his cronies come back and accidentally wish Goku to turn into a kid again. Then Goku, teen Trunks and Pan can go into space to retrieve the Dragon Balls.
We could call it "Dragonball: Big Voyage"

And yet the future refused to change.
Screw doing another DB series immediately. Give s a 26 episode Chrono Trigger series, dammit.
-

It didn't mean that. Zeno believed in the good of the mortals so he believed that they would do the right thing. It's not saying that he knew what would happen due to omniscience or something. Basically it was all one big test.
-
Oh. my. god! This episode was perfect.
Restoring the universes kinda makes the whole thing pointless, but who cares? It was so fucking good! Daaaamn! The last two thirds of the episode I was already feeling this bitter-sweet feeling because I knew this was the end and I don't remember even feeling that when DBZ ended, so… yeah. Amazing final episode and the Freeza fan in me is in the clouds with how he was handled.
-

Yeah we got a Blue Dragon anime and I don't recall to many people asking for that.

@Me:
this is the bestest plan ever Whaddaya you know! Bringing Frieza back actually was the bestest idea ever!
After how awful 129 looked I'm really glad that the animation team was able to get everything lined up to deliver these final two episodes which from an animation standpoint were absolutely phenomenal and the hypest I've seen in animated Dragon Ball. The episode was directed and storyboarded by one of Toei's new rising stars, and had no shortage of cool shots (personal favs were Goku sliding down the central pillar, 17 hanging on for dear life after Frieza piledrives Jiren through the stage, and the sequence of Jiren getting ragdolled in midair by 17's energy blasts). I originally thought that 17 and Frieza would just be doing a holding action until Goku recovered enough to finish the fight himself, but the way the fight played out with all three working together was so much better. I don't even care that the hero and his archenemy setting aside their differences so that they can face a stronger threat together is an ancient cliche, that whole two minute sequence was a great way to finally conclude this long, bloated, high-and-low meme-filled rollercoaster of an arc, not to mention the whole show, on a high note. Also, lol at Vegeta's WTF look at Goku and Frieza's teamwork. Bardock is well-and-truly spinning in his grave.
Super's pretty bad if you put it through a serious round of literary analysis, but more often than not it delivered on its promise of silly, dumb entertaining fun. Setting aside the nightmare going on behind the scenes in production it did a lot of breathe some new life and energy into the Dragon Ball property with some pretty cool or fun new characters (Magetta, Toppo, Hit, the Universe 6 Saiyan trio, more Beerus and Whis) and some not-so-great ones (much of the tournament fodder, Jiren - though he did develop some character by the end). Just, when Dragon Ball Ultra or whatever inevitably starts up in another year or two, please get your house in order first and actually preproduce the show, Toei. Thanks.

Now that it is over, what was the point in giving the tournament a time limit? I mean, it didn't played any role at any point and it only had the negative effect of making things weird (when you think of how ridiculously fast things had to be for all of that to happen under 48 minutes).
Non-related note, in case anyone else was wondering:
that's when! -

that's when! Thanks for that screen shot. I thought I had missed an entire scene somewhere, but the last bum rush went by with some quick fluid action. I'll probably have to rewatch to get a full grasp on the choreography.

I never got the impression that Zeno was mature enough or intelligent enough to reach that conclusion.
Unrelated: Did anyone else notice that 17th's wish was vague enough to potentially include the six universes previously destroyed by Zeno?
-
I never got the impression that Zeno was mature enough or intelligent enough to reach that conclusion.
The angel dude probably has some say in the matter somewhat.
-
That was a good ending to everything. Seemed obvious i guess, though i was always curious of Zen-Oh would allow all the universes to be returned, or if the super dragron balls could bring back all the universes. The explanation was satisfactory enough.
-
Is there anything Whis can't do?? Dude has mastered Ultra Instinct, can rewind time up to three minutes, time-travel into the future, speed up child birth and now even casually revive the dead with a twirl of his staff. Daishinkan himself must be incredibly broken.
-
He can't cook, so there!
-
I'm glad Frieza is free he's a good guy he deserves a shot at redemption and happiness …

Building on this, wouldn't it be cool they gave kid Goku a new transformation that's triggered by going Saijan Ape while in SSJ… and somehow makes him an adult, looks nothing like previous transformations (red eyeliner and black hair EVERYWHERE)! Oh, and lets have Vegeta get it too. And then have them fusion dance! Hell Yeah. #Sorrynotsorry

it's funny how Freeza, Kurotsuchi, and Orochimaru all basicially get off scot free in the end.
-
Beerus is probably keeping him around so he wouldn't have to work. He did tell him to destroy Planet Vegeta and since he did it, he's just keeping him around for convinience.
Vegeta never did learn Beerus did that and I find this bit interesting because the anime's filler story (I don't know how much of the meteor hitting Planet Vegeta part is filler) did say Planet Vegeta's god punished them by sending a meteor down and destroying the planet.
Just like the Yamoshi thing, Toriyama is basically uniting all the different stories. Yamoshi is the Legendary Super Saiyan AND Super Saiyan God and both the Freeza story AND Planet Vegeta's god's punishment are sort of combined into one.
If he tries something really inconvinient Beerus can just destroy him. This could also come back later if Freeza gets too powerful. It's like inviting Beerus to be screwed over somehow.
Or Goku checks on him every day, lol.

I liked that last episode a lot
There was actual decent choegraphy on this one. A simple moment is Jiren puching Freezer continously and Freezer use the rocks to stop the onslaught. On a regular episode he would be punch away and only then use the telekinesis. It might not seem big but it does help it feel more dynamic.
Jiren was the frog guy from Kung Fu hustle. Took me some time to finally place the inspiration.
Goku and Freezer working was really well played. I think it works well becasue of the history. You Freezer as all the reason to trust Goku and dude is self-serving. And again some really good choegraphy in there.
I finally liked one thing they did with Jiren by having Toppo cheer him up buy praising his strength. C-17 is the definite MVP but Toppo is the MVP of U11.
The ending was nice. It's simple but they actually had them not just beat the enemy to a pulp but rather use the actual settings and rule. And as simple as not having Goku be the last standing be in 95% of shonen it would have happen so I appreciated that.
I don't buy for one second that Zeno planned any of that. They should just have had Goku convince him it's cool.
I liked the little montage of the universes.
1-Why the hell is C-18 that worried that his brother won't get on a cruise because he saved universes. You would think he chose to kill his daugter for the greater good or something.
2- Why was the boat even a thing in the first place. Did everyone forget they are friends with someone as rich as Batman? It's always weird when money is a problem for them.
Whis resurrecting Freezer doesn't surprise me. It's not any more random than time powers and pulling babies out of your belly.
Never been a fan of the Vegeta is still obsess with beating the shit out of Goku after the Buu saga.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also that Goku flashing between normal and SSJ was great.
So would resurecting 1 universe(VEgeta's wish) or 1 person(king KAi)/planet be considered selfish?
-
I still think Freeza would be perfect as GoD down the road as Goku and Vegeta have no interest in the position
-

I don't think he would be. Beerus is already bad for destroying planets on a whim, but Freeza is straight up evil.

That’s why Beerus blamed Goku for defeating his army taking the mortal level down?
Yes he is outright evil but it was told that his empire had the best health system and technology after all
As long as no one would fuck over him he would most likely not simply destroy planets left and right
And Beerus still gave the “order” to destroy planet Vegeta and wanted to destroy earth because of a fucking pudding

Toei Animationannounced last Friday that it will introduce a number of department restructurings on April 1, part of which will be the establishment of a third department under its Anime Planning and Production Headquarters that will focus mainly on Dragon Ball projects.
And no suprise after the latest sales data of the DragonBall franchise…
Dragon Ball is currently TOEI's biggest grossing franchise, leading in categories such as Domestic Licensing, Overseas Film, and Overseas Licesing.
!
On top on that… Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco already confirmed Dragon Ball led the charge with its 3Q revenue as it beat out Mobile Suit Gundam in a surprise turn. The franchise brought in 65 billion yen, leaving One Piece and Naruto in the dust with their 30.4 billion and 8.9 billion totals.
Give me more <333 Just not GT
-
It is super popular and makes you a ton of money TOEI. Please put it into a new show next year. Even if it is over 100 episodes, look no further than hxh. It can still be well animated throughout.
-
Too bad for DB and OP they are SO popular TOEI know they can deliver subpar series with terrible animation and that will still flood them with money. I don't see why they would really invest a lot of money in a DB series if they know they can get all dem profits wasting like a tenth of that.
If any new DB series manages to get the quality DBS got in the ToP arc, I think that's already a reason to celebrate (because, c'mon,
)
