I dont really get what happened just now this chapter, even less how was it possible…
All and all logic wise this chapter makes little to no sense...
What doesn't make sense?

I'm just gonna throw out a crazy theory okay?…
MAYBE... just maybe... Luffy's pointing out the giant ship coming at them... I know it seems insane... but I'm going to go with it for now
The lack of focus on the Straw Hats seems suspicious to me…
When the next chapter comes and we go to Wano with Zorro for like 99 chapters without knowing what happened on luffy's side, people are gonna lose their minds!
If they really got hit, then it's gotta be that the coating is still intact on the ship.
I'm just gonna throw out a crazy theory okay?…
MAYBE... just maybe... Luffy's pointing out the giant fucking ship coming at them... I know it seems insane... but I'm going to go with it for now ;)
That doesn't make sense. If that was true why does Chopper look terrified?
=D
Franky's reaction next arc :ninja:
!

=D
be… cause there's a giant fucking ship coming at them? O_o
I'm talking about the Shante
The flag isn't what bothers me the most, honestly. That can be dropped next to any other burning wreckage of similar size to fake the destruction of the Sunny.
How exactly the Straw Hats will manage to slip away - with a Sunny either intact or in tatters from a severe blow it did take - is a different matter. If Law were around I'd just think switcheroo, but…
Anyway, bold move from Oda. Deep down we know it's just a cliffhanger and the Sunny won't be destroyed so easily, but you gotta hand it to him he still knows to take the story where no-one expects him.
Would the Straw Hats really throw away their flag like that?
I’m waiting on pins and needles to see what Deus Ex Machina emerges that allows the Straw Hats to leave this place and start heading towards Wano and the rest of the crew.
Holy fucking Moses, what a mess.
be… cause there's a giant fucking ship coming at them? O_o
U guys getting this? This guy. Chopper's not scared of Giant ships, he's lived on the Sunny since it was built and was never scared of it.lol.
=D
What doesn't make sense?
It doesn't make sense that this very Big Mom's ship was tagging the Sunny along at Dressrosa, trying to stop it… like all the time for them to reach Zou... and in this chapter it blowed the Sunny with a one-shot.
My theory is that an explosion only took the upper part of the helm, thus taking the flag... hope Caesar was the one who stopped the cannonball and threw the explosion impact to other ship.

I don't understand what you're getting at… at all. Luffy's pointing at the Shante that's coming at them ready to fire. It's why Chopper and the others are panicking (i mean that and all the other shit going on).. .I don't know how this is confusing you. I really really don't.
Watch next chapter cut straight to Reverie following Vivi and we have to wait a full 1+ real world year to find out the conclusion to whether or not the SHs survived.
If the Fishmen can’t survive this boiling sea, what makes people think the Sunny can? Especially since it’s been proven to cause serious damage/explosions to ships.
the point is not if they are still alive rather how will they make it out.
If it's mirage tempo is an asspull, if is Pudding it's too stretched but still not going to be pleasing.
if is BM allucinating is disappointing from Oda and now it seems the most likely.
Everything else would be good to me. At least I hope so.
This chapter made me only think about what the differences are from sneaky mission to all-out war.
Good chapter tho. Oda is trolling us big time.
Damn, that cover. It's like the prettiest thing I've ever seen.
Not sure I like the finishing montage that much. Aside the skipping and shortening of conflicts which has slowly become a norm for OP, which is somewhat understandable considering the cast size, it kinda lacks the impact. For example, I still get all emotional while watching SH escape from Alabasta and Bon Clay holding off the marines, or while watching Luffy and others escaping ID while Bon Clay remains behind. There's just too many scenes going on at the same time for me to enjoy this properly.
I do like that the Yonko crew is finally being shown competent and threatening.
And also glad Smoothie hasn't jumped out of character. :ninja:

I'm kidding bro because your pointing out the obvious.

Yea I don't know how the Queen Mama and Mon't Dor got there from Whole Cake to Cacao that fast, or how they were able to dmg them when they couldn't in Dressrosa, and Sanji and Chopper actually damaged the Queen Mama in the past.
=D
joke post: Oh, Oda with dat slam dunk ending…came a bit out of nowhere but he probably grew tired of the series and wanted to do something new.
real post: Didn't like the chapter that much, especially since i'm one of those people that consider killing characters "bold" or "good storytelling".
I'm not saying that the strawhats are dead of course, but the carnage itself didn't made for an enjoyable chapter for me...also my head hurts in thinking how exactly can oda justify this in the next chaper, since the panels are pretty clear and there wasn't anyone in the position to help this time.
this being said, last chapter i said the fishmen would have been the final resolution but i really didn't think about oven's boiling power, that is the perfect counter for them and he was already shown being able to do that anyway. The mama chanter appearing out of nohere despite being as big as an island it's a bit contrived but it's there for drama purposes.
I just hope the follow up doesn't open more plotholes in an already pretty plot holes filled arc.
I'm kidding bro because your pointing out the obvious.
=D
Oh, lol… but given some of the posts in this thread, can you understand why I was confused?
Oh and just cause I didn't say, I like how this chapter was written and I now understand the title.
15 chars of weevile incoming
I liked the chapter, it is a nice good-bye to BigMom and her crew, showing that they are not totaly worthless.

How does that not make sense? They escaped because of Nami creating a fog…
Now they're in an infinitely much more stressful situation, no fog was created, and they got hit. Don't see the problem.

It's Adam Wood. Anyways, Oven's abilities are the least of their problems.
This was an interesting chapter. A lot of things happened. Or did they, actually?
There is a drawing of "Ship" destroying something earlier in the chapter and later almost the exact same drawing with (supposedly) Sunny. Now if I didn´t read about a certain person substituting herself shooting someone with a soldier in another person´s mind, I wouldn´t even dream of such an explanation.
SHs @ Sunny wouldn´t just go down by something as simple as a cannonade of some "Ship" and off-paneled like that so I´m sceptical regarding the flag placed in water at the end.
Part of the chapter is a delirious BM, the other part is BM empire striking back. Good to see they remembered having Germa-effective bullets. Smoothie is still useless to the point Oda had to mirror in a pyrokinetic dude instead to burn up the fish and Snack attacks Judge.
Chaotic but nonetheless intriguing. This can develop in a few ways:
(a) third party attacks BM territory, allowing the heroes to slip through,
(b) Sanji turns Super Saiyan and beats everyone in the blink of an eye,
they are already long gone and this is just a modified memory of BM pirates obliterating "some" intruders,
(d) BM gets actually knocked out from the cake like Sanji promised and all souls except her own return to their owners, which will turn the tide of battle.
These are my first thoughts. Now I´m going to read the comments.
Well done,Sanji LOL.
MVP of the arc…to the Big Mom Pirates, that is.
This chapter is absolutely amazing. Oda is a master of narrative in comics with the whole situation getting direr and direr while Big Mom performs a creepy musical so well executed. Just a blast to read.
I love that Big Mom's ship destroyed the Sunny instead of any other powerful underling. It's more symbolic to the fact that the Big Mom Pirates as a whole defeated the Strawhats, not a particular individual of her crew. Another great panel is the one where the Vinsmokes are being defeated while someone looks like the grim reaper himself.
The defeat of the Strawhats is very welcome to me and I appreciate that they could go this far in Big Mom's territory by their own merits and luck. They are still alive, of course, but the trauma is real and we leave the arc with an intimidating image of the Yonkou. Btw, I'm really curious to know what will happen with Big Mom next after coming back to her old memories of her birthday with Mother Carmel and the kids. Maybe it will be a bad ending for her too.
Oh, lol… but given some of the posts in this thread, can you understand why I was confused?
Oh and just cause I didn't say, I like how this chapter was written and I now understand the title.
Naw bro i get u.
We still have to see how Pudding will leave and Jajji's eyebrows before we leave this arc. What ever happened to Bobbin tho??
=D

Does fog stops a cannonball??
I suppose Oda put Jinbe's helm skills with Sanji's cooking skills, because both could highlight in this chapter, but couldn't because musicals.
What about this is a mess lmao
If they were captured again by Big Mom, I do not see how it would be possible for any of them to survive. It would be illogical beyond belief, basically Pell 2.0. Their ship is currently depicted as a burning, wrecked heap. They can neither travel under the sea nor through the air. Nami was last seen gesticulating wildly at Brook, not whipping out her climatact for a large scale mirage and Big Mom has no base idea of what’s going on other than that cake. So, how do they avoid being captured?

Adam Wood looked like it got rocked and never recovered.

What?

Wait for the next chapter? Doesn't really make any sense to say it's a mess merely because you can't figure out how they'll get out of this situation. Also I don't know where you're getting the assumption that they'll be captured, as they're trying to kill them first and foremost. I mean, shit, this chapter is a pretty clear indicator of that.
I do hope Sunny got wrecked, kinda tired of the cop-outs
But I have a hard time believing it got destroyed like that, without any kind of build-up.
Ahem im a noob but didnt a sunpirate blatently said something about a hole in the middle of a ship???
Could it be as simple as they all escaped by submarine???
i dunno, but somewhere i thought there was a random thing said about a hole in a ship…

They poked a hole in one of BM's ships, in order to sink it.
ok, as i said…im just a noob :-)
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, but here's my theory about the events in this chapter:
I don't believe it was an hallucination of Big Mom, neither a mass memory tampering done by Pudding. The destruction of the ship really happened.
However, I don't think that ship was the Sunny at all. In my opinion, what really happened was that Big Mom went into a transe after eating the cake (just like it happened when she was young) and completely lost awareness of everything around her. Just like before, she could no longer distinguish friend from foe - or in that case, friend from food.
I'm pretty sure when she's in this state, homies made out of her own soul also get affected - they seem to be somewhat in sync, hence why the ship is singing along with her when they're nowhere near each other. And that is why whenever she sings "risky", the ship fires. Just like Big Mom herself, the ship must also be completely unaware of its surroundings, so it is most likely just firing randomly at whichever ships are in sight. The ship that got obliterated must have been one of Big Mom's ships, just like the one that blew up when she first sang "risky".
The only thing this theory doesn't explain is the burned Straw Hat flag, but that could easily be explained by the fact that the ship got hit by the aftershock of one of the explosions and it fell off, or it could even be a flag that was being carried by the Sun Pirates, which got burned by Oven.
Doesn't really make any sense to say it's a mess merely because you can't figure out how they'll get out of this situation.
The longer this goes on and the worse the situation gets, the more likely we’re getting a Deus ex Machina or a pardon because of how good the cake was. I think both of those possible resolutions are cheap outs and would disappoint me.
What?
Yep, i said the same reading the chapter.
Oda playing with the certainty for the sake of the unpredictable. Nu, nu, nu, bad writing.
think this is Oda's April fool's joke
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Sanji this arc has been a complete joke.
Its beyond savage now. What has sanji achieved?
What has sanji achieved?
He achieved another situation where his body touched Nami's boob, nothing more.
If the Fishmen can’t survive this boiling sea, what makes people think the Sunny can? Especially since it’s been proven to cause serious damage/explosions to ships.
We already had a similar situation with boiling water (ok, last time it was on the verge of boiling https://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/825/10 ), but basically it's just hot water. So the water can't damage the Sunny.
Fishmen are living beings with their own body temperature, so they can die if they're in boiling water. That's a difference.
At this moment the only way they can escape, is under water. Maybe there are different caoting techniques, those that can be used once and those that can be used multiple times.
So Nami was telling Jinbe to activate the coating or start to dive.
While diving, the Sunny was hit, and they lost half a mast or so, that's why the flag is floating.
And on the last page what appears to be the sinking of the Sunny is actually diving.
I think Mon't Dor must've teleported the Queen Mama from Whole Cake to Cacao with his World of Books or another of his DF powers.
=D

This would make sense, except we would need an explanation about why they didn't use such a device to escape the tsunami back when Jinbe had to enter the "Green Room".
…..........
So can we vote Sanji off the ship now? Well, off of whatever's left of the ship...
This is like the 3rd time this arc he's gotten everybody killed >_>

but the ship is not automated, there's human crew on board that it's operating the cannons..and while the cannonballs can be homies as well, they have no reason to deviate if they are already pointed at a target..it would make sense if they don't distinguish friend or foe..but they have no reason to actively deviate from the foe and start attacking the allies, if you get what i mean.@Zhenja:

normal coating implodes if you just do a series of holes in it
what would you think would happen to a coating bubble if an entire part of the ship is blown away by a cannon ball?
alo,if they had this at their disposal, they would have used it from the beginning….they would have been able to get to cacao island completely undetected
This would make sense, except we would need an explanation about why they didn't use such a device to escape the tsunami back when Jinbe had to enter the "Green Room".
Well, the explanation could be a limited number of times that this technique can be used.
But personally I don't need an explanation why they didn't use it before, because it's just story telling, if they had used it before, then this scenario wouldn't be as dramatic as it is now. Everybody would just think “yeah, ok they are diving again, no need to worry”. You know what I mean.
The tension is soooo fake. But I commend him for making it at least look kind of interesting.
If this is the work of Nami and her illusions she is the real MVP of the arc and year of nami, f*** brook and sanji. Pretty much defeated cracker's soldiers with her rain, stole BM's zeus homie from under her feet and attacked her twice with him, and now this.
