Dont be so harsh with the Don, hard to think of anyone that would not go down against the beloved best swordsman in the wordl…
Save for an arrogant man who:
A- He did not know that he was going up against the strongest swordsman of the world.
B- He and his armada was the biggest threat in East Blue (as long as Shanks or Mihawk didn't come visiting) and was overconfident.
C- And he had no idea how much stronger others were in the Grand Line.I will grant Don Krieg this, from what I remember he represented one of the early confusions of the series to me as it said he did reach the grand Line but was having trouble before they even encountered Mihawk. I always wondered how they were able to get from grand Line back into East Blue. It was on refreshing on his history that was cleared up: Krieg had in the past stolen Marine ship. I'm assuming that it was one of the ships lined with Seastone on the bottom to keep Sea Kings from noticing it. (though that doesn't explain rest of his fleet)

Has the WG had a meeting or anything mentioning warlord replacements for Mingo and Law? If not, that could lend major credence to the idea of abolishing the warlord system if they're stuck at the last three of the original seven and Buggy.
Oh yeah, and Weevil too. Forgot he existed till I realized there should be one more lol.

Nope. At most they only complain about it.
-
It's pretty recent that they became regular criminals again. I'm sure replacement takes a little time.

Oh yeah, you're right. I was thinking about how we haven't heard anything Warlord related for quite some time when it likely hasn't been that long since Doflamingo's arrest in the OP world.

I have a question about Luffy and his Gears. My original interpretation was that Gear 2nd was fastest, 3rd was strongest, and 4th was much stronger than than normal Luffy or Gear 2nd while also being faster than regular Luffy or Gear 3rd.
Now I get more of a high level of Super Saiyan vibe where it's simply just the best form, no question, and only has the energy sapping as its sole draw back.
How do you guys see it? The strongest and fastest Luffy there is or simply his most well-balanced state? -
Clearly a super sayan state with stamina drawbacks. Gear 2nd and 3rd aren't even proper "modes" anymore. They're completely integrated into his normal fighting style. We've seen it right from it's first moments (G4, that it) that it's clearly more powerful and faster than anything else Luffy has shown before.
-
Thanks for saying "clearly" twice!
-
I don't really care for Luffy having five versions of Gomu Gomu no Pistol since, at this point in the game, three are virtually the same attack with little damage difference in the New World, one is now always countered to hype up the enemy's strength, and the last one is the base standard for the tier of foes Luffy has to face and at least make a dent in.
In case that statement was too ambiguous, I am talking about Gomu Gomu no: Pistol, Jet Pistol, Hawk, Elephant Gun, and Kong Gun.
-
Thanks for saying "clearly" twice!
Don't mention it, no problem But the truth is that after activating G4, Doffy could no longer keep up with Luffy's speed and was being trounced by his attacks left and right , when preivously he was able to either tank, block, dodge, or counter his other moves. Maybe there's a chance his G3 attacks are as destructive as G4, but enemies have found it easy to counter, so far, which makes it more or less useless against top guys like Katakuri. So, even if Gear 2nd is faster and 3rd stronger, with 4th being the balanced, fast and strong at the sime time, form, it doesn't seem to lead to a fighting style where Luffy must choose wether he uses gears 2, 3, or 4, depending on the attack he wants to use and the situation at hand. It's more like he either uses gears 2/3 like that or 4 as a super state.
-
Yeah, Gear Fourth is better in pretty much all facets including strength - as Luffy was unable to make Cracker budge with Gear Third, but busted him up with Gear Fourth. Gear Fourth is quite well-rounded when it comes to fighting, but in return it's pretty much only truly effective in a 1v1 situation whereas Luffy can bust through crowds with Gears 2+3, and it has the most brutal expiration drawback we've seen yet.

Does Napoleon like to eat hats? Or maybe swords?

Considerting how much her souls like to eat I'm surprise Big Mom has not dabvle in some conscious cannibalism if only to test it.

Does anyone have brown hair besides Pudding and Diamante? I just thought of it earlier and am a little surprised not many characters have such a common hair color. Are there a bunch of characters I'm missing? :ninja:
Koala kind of counts but it looks like her hair changed from brown. Maybe it was just dirty when she was young.

Well there's definitely Brownbeard lol :P Kuma also has brown hair in his manga color scheme which differs greatly from the anime's. Sai's is also brown in the manga. There's also Apoo and probably a ton of minor characters that don't matter

I just did a bit of wiki deep dive and found Mr. 9 and Russian (Senor Pink's wife) as well. Didn't think of Brownbeard or Apoo at all to be honest.

Are we still thonking the germa 66 will become a branch off of luffy's force, that was the prevailing idea that reiju would get it under her control and pledge with them as allies but as things are now (Taking into account the strong possibility they show up for the climax) its a lot less likely imo. Who still believes

Who still believes
I don't think they're going to be allied in the same sense as the grand fleet, however I think they'll be on the terms loosely set. Germa is gonna mind their own business and leave Sanji and the Strawhats to their own devices without any funny business.
It's certain they're not done in this arc yet. They didn't get a send off, they just disappeared after everyone began fleeing the wedding. I'm on board with what Greg proposed, of Germa needing to witness Sanji save the day with his cooking to be the final nail in the coffin of him being a Strawhat with his own dream and not the failed Vinsmoke Prince.
His family has agreed to leave him be, but for it to pay off I believe that his family will try to assist in keeping Big Mom away from Sanji and the crew as the chase progresses. In the final moments of preparing the cake in the inevitable chaos, Sanji will do it as his family watches and they will be present to see his skill they mocked save the day. I believe those things are essential in both redeeming the Vinsmokes to a semi-decent level of humanity(coming to help Sanji and the crew against BM) and also serve to further Sanji's siblings. Sanji pretty much got on the terms he desired with his dad after the wedding, but his brothers really didn't comment much. I doubt Oda is going to leave them as these cocky, empathy-less egotists. They were the ones specifically dragging Sanji down for his cooking, so I see the moment of him saving the day as being the thing that will put his brothers on the path of feeling empathy and becoming more "human". And it will serve as a satisfying moment for Reiju to see the kid who cried about becoming a cook before going away for over a decade save the day with those skills.
After this arc though, I really don't see them being major allies in an active sense. They will likely be headed to the Reverie, so it is possible that they could interact with some of the other Strawhat allies that will be present. Come the end of the series, if there is some big battle with every one of the Strawhat's allies from even outside the fleet, then I'd bet to see Germa there. But otherwise, I don't think they'll be messing around in the New World too much.
I did originally lean towards the idea of Reiju reforming Germa, but given the way the Sanji/Judge stuff played out and how I see the cake climax happening, I think that Judge and the brothers will have learned their lesson enough to the point of reforming Germa themselves.
-
So, when you guys think Weevil is going to be introduced as an enemy?
We already saw Luffy taking down one of the top officers of a Yonkou and, as things are, it seems he will be taking the top officer before this arc is over and next arc he will already be aiming to fight a Yonkou. After Kaidou is defeated, Weevil will not look like a threat, so when?
Since Borsalino said he was as strong as WB in his young years and there is a huge gap between a Yonkou and their top officers, I believe Weevil will be somewhere in that gap, being stronger than people like Marco, Jack and Katakuri, so the logical assumption would be he would be taken down between WCI and Wano, but we know there will be only the Reverie between those arcs.
I'm afraid he will appear in Wano, an arc that is already promising to be overcrowded to the point of making Dressrosa feel empty.
-
He could appear after Kaido, kinda like Kuma did after Moria. But I think that Weevil is going to fight Blackbeard either way as his final opponent.

I have a question:
In one of the last episodes of the Anime I have seen a frog human. Has that one been in the Manga as well?
Because that would be an entirely new species that was thrown into the story without any mention and notice. Well, that one and one of Big Mom's daughters that is apparently a fairy.
So we have
Humans
Snake Neck
Long Arm
Long Leg
Three Eyes
Winged People
Tontatta
Giants
Fairies
Minks
Fishpeople and Merfolk
Bird People
Amphibian PeopleAnd then we also had the mushroom person in one of Mama's books. And all the hybrids.

I assume you're talking about this person.

I assume that this person is a Homie, just like the other Animal Homies. (Aristocroc, Randolph, Crane etc.)

I wasn't specifically talking about him, but about a frog man reacting to the enraged army in the Anime, but it really doesn't make a difference. thanks. But now that you mention it, it does make sense. It could be a homie. Big Mom makes it difficult to figure out what is real humanoid race and what is not with her soul power.

So I've been thinking.

Outside of the obvious, could any of those stand against Katakuri? -

Outside of the obvious, could any of those stand against Katakuri?Totally. At least Beckman, like Kaido said. And I have a feeling that none of them have Devil Fruits so that they look like a humble yet authentic pirate crew.
-
Since they're a relatively smaller crew, I'd assume a few of them could put up a decent fight or stale mate Katakuri. Beckman and Lucky Roo at least. Is it assumed Yasopp is 3rd strongest? or is he the equivalent to our boy Usopp?
Damn I thought there were more named members of the Shank's crew. -

Or not. All the homies in the wedding were part of the personnel (except for BM three aides), it doesn't seem they were invited to the party. But this one is sitting on the table, talking with a member of the crew and drinking tea. He looks more like a guest.

I suppose. Jeez. Red Hair pirate Monster Trio then the rest? Seems weird. How would they handle Big Mom's crew? We have Shanks vs Big Mom, but then Cracker, Katakrui, Smoothie and the 4th one Urouge beat. Seems they'd be outnumbered. Unless it's possible Beckman is close to strength to Shanks and could possible handle 2?

Snack is irrelevant. Especially if Kaido only has three Calamities. Also, throw in Mihawk with Shanks. They already hang out a lot. They will probably ally with eachother against the Blackbeard Pirates. And lose. Overwhelmingly. Just like Marco and the Whitebeard Remnants.

Ah yes, completely forgot about Mihawk. Damn, I hope we get more panels of Mihawk and Shanks before their demise, but I think that's doubtful. It sucks they will be more of a plot device then actual fleshed out characters.
You think they'll lose overwhelmingly? If so, I hope Blackbeard doesn't come out unscathed. A lasting scar from Shanks, perhaps over the eye for sweet sweet revenge, would be a nice treat. -

A lasting scar from Shanks, perhaps over the eye for sweet sweet revenge, would be a nice treat.By overwhelmingly, I was half-joking and mainly referring to how none of the Blackbeard Pirates will lose. Shanks and Mihawk should at least be allowed to go all-out to deliver on our expectations for them, and they should reasonably push Teach and Shiryu.
I think we will get more panels. The Straw Hats might meet them some time before their defeat.

I suppose so, otherwise Oda will be crushing souls across the world by never letting Luffy finally meet up with Shanks.

Lucky Roo got married to somebody, who is probably Lola, for a reason. And Bartolomeo is going to interact with the Red Hair Pirates for a reason too.

Well hopefully Big Mom gets put out of commission or defeated (I don't believe it will be in this arc) before finding out about the wedding. That would be a bigger slap in the face then her current dilemma. For one who loves weddings so much to not get invited to her own daughter's wedding? Yikes. I wonder if Lucky Roo knows of Lola's family, if it is indeed Lola he married.
-
@Kaido:
Considering that Beckman managed to hold Kizaru at gunpoint at least somewhat convincingly? Yeah.
To be fair, that's Kizaru, that's how he reacts to anyone. I'm pretty sure he would say the same thing if Katakuri pointed Mogura at him. Or even Cracker pointed Pretzel.
In the end he ended up ignoring Beckman and attacked Law/Luffy anyways, so he wasn't really being held back. -
@.access:

I don't think it's really about whether Kizaru was scared or not. I think it's more likely he was trolling. Moreso that Oda positioned Beckman was the one doing that as if to imply that he could at least give Kizaru a decent fight like Marco did.
-

It's been a while since I read that cover story so this is most likely me forgetting something, but how did we know it was specifically Lucky Roo that was getting married?

Because all of the Red Hair Pirates were shown in the two cover pages except for Lucky Roo. Somebody who has famously been in that crew since Chapter One of the manga.

I noticed in the most recent chapter Jinbe referred to his first mate as Aladine. I always thought his name was Aladdin. Has his name been confirmed as Aladine after his debut like how everyone referred to Oars as Oz before the Marineford arc?

He was given official romanization as Aladine in chapter 830, but I think VIZ changed it to keep thing consistent. Anyway, you shouldn't care as One Piece had examples of one character being given two different romanizations in the past (Caeasar was both Clown and Crown IIRC), their names are written in Japanese, when you use Latin alphabet you only approximate. No one sane will be bothered by you using different one as long as it's clear which character you mean.

I assume they were just government agents, given that the Revolutionaries later heard the news of Robin being captured (Chap. 803)

@Kaido:
I assume they were just government agents, given that the Revolutionaries later heard the news of Robin being captured (Chap. 803)
See, that's just the thing, that's not a good enough answer for me. She's got nearly a 100M bounty, amazing DF powers that enabled her and her crew to escape Enies Lobby, a feat never before performed nor repeated, she's well-known among the Marines enough that they ought to be aware of the majority of her talents and capabilities, and she now has connections to the Revolutionaries meaning she could have backup from both them and her Straw Hat nakama at any given time. Why on earth would they even bother sending two average-strength Marine flunkies to try to nab her with no ability to match her strength in combat, no seastone to nullify her ability, no sufficient numbers to actually have a chance in hell of succeeding, or even having a more innocuous goal in mind like maybe planting a tracking device or something on her? None of that adds up. I know the Marines are incredibly stupid most of the time but this is just inexcusable if they really are behind it. For the longest time, I had a pet theory that Aokiji sent them, knowing full well they'd never succeed, and did so merely to keep an eye on her and report back to him that she was doing all right so he didn't have to worry too much about her because he still does care in spite of everything. That's just my two cents. But the not knowing for sure is really irritating.
