It's a weak game that varies between stupidly simple and annoying as hell, but if you're really into 3D platformers you can get something out of it.
Fungi Forest is classic N64 Rare at least.
-
"Time for a bonus game!"
squeak! squeak! squeak!
-
Ah, DK64.
Home of Beaver Bother and that f***ing beetle.eye twitches uncontrollably
-
DK64 is an exercise in tedium at its best
-
You guys are being a bit harsh. It's still in the top 10 collectathons on the N64 (the platform that had almost all of the good ones anyway).
-
I don't get why DK64 is so hated here for because of 20% of the stuff in it.
-
I already dislike the bulk of Rare's library and I find DK64 to be evocative of nearly all their issues with designing games
-
Decided to just play mario sunshine, as I never finished it.
It needed a little more than just beachs and vacations theme.
I hate that the only hint of the blue coins is the total colected.
I still can't get yoshi to the fucking desert island.
Too much water.
-
Tell me more when you get to the Pachinko Minigame.
-
The red coin pinball? I got in with the turbo nuzzle, I belive that with the hover one it would be easy.
Yoshi keeps being the bane of my existence.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The thing is that the hover function of the flood tries to hide the fact that the engine isn't as strong as mario 64, or as handholdy as galaxy, as you can correct most mistakes with the backpack, but when it's taken away, or you have to yoshi it up, the extreme sliding action, random bounces (and It might be because of my controller) and sudden spasm of mario wanting to die, get brought to the forefront.
That and the lava boat is bullshit.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm missing two blue coins in the hotel section. I don't know wich are they nor I care too much to find out, I already grinded out the damn kokors this year, I won't fall prey to this checklist compulsion.
I'll beat bowser and maaaaybe get the last few stage stars.
-

Well there is the fact that almost everything in it was done better by Banjo and Kazooie.
Ah, DK64.
Home of Beaver Bother and that f***ing beetle.eye twitches uncontrollably
Those Mincart bonus levels and the old Old School Donkey Kong minigame weren't too much better.
-
Why keep pointing the bad things if we can point the good things.
-
To be fair everybody was trying to do rap in the 80's to 90's (and today) The DK Rap occupies the same space of "Why was this made" territory as the Wrestlerock Rumble and The Sex Offender Shuffle.
-
Well there is the fact that almost everything in it was done better by Banjo and Kazooie.
Yeah but nobody hates on Super Mario Bros 3 just because everything in it was done better by Super Mario World.
-

Well yeah because next to no one hates or is overly critical of Super Mario Bros. 3 compared to say Super Mario Sunshine or the original SMB.
-
Is anyone playing Pokken Tournament DX? I am eating this game up to the super max! If there are enough people here we should make an Arlong Park Group.
-
I bought the Wii U version way back and honestly didn't find enough incentive to keep playing it, much less to buy it again at full price. Cool that you're having fun though!
-
My SNES classic arrived today - one day before the official release day. That never happened before

Enjoy it ! :)

Enjoy Starfox 2!

Well… Mario does have a history of abusing animals.
-
Considering that Shigefumi Hino is also the director of Pikmin it does make sense in retrospect
-
I'm surprised that needed confirmation considering how obvious it looked.

Can we talk for a moment about how absurd the Arcade Archives are?
For a while what I thought from the Nintendo Direct was that it would be a compilation of all arcade games released with leaderboards and the like together for like ten or fifteen dollars.
Instead, it's actually a category of titles each to be released individually… and currently JUST mario bros is at eight. fucking. dollars. I don't know how there are people in the modern day and age that expect anyone to pay eight dollars for what is essentially an NES game.

Honestly, we should just be emulating 90% of this stuff anyway.

I find the leap from "this product is overpriced" to "we should be stealing instead" to be a little much

To clarify, after the Starfox 2 incident I no longer trust Nintendo to actually pay the people responsible for making the original games.
We're essentially paying for digital bootlegs. -
IGN reviewed Starfox 2.
As if it were a 2017 game designed for a modern console.
They gave it a 5.

Yeah I read that I thought it was hilarious lol

The Star Fox 2 stuff is pretty misunderstood. Argonaut themselves never developed a game for Nintendo. They collaborated to create the FX chip and then contracted out staff to EAD in Kyoto for the development of Star Fox, Stunt Race, and Star Fox 2, all of which were completed as defined by the contract. The staff from Argonaut (of which there were 4) were then released from their contracts, some not even returning to Argonaut.
As far as I know, the idea that the code was stolen brought up by Jez San, who never worked on the games directly and only contributed to the development of the FX chip.plus they remained in good contact with the head programmer of the actual game, Dylan Cuthbert (he even invited Miyamoto to his wedding!), and brought him on to direct Star Fox Command. He was even happy to see Star Fox 2 on the SNES Mini!
You can read his opinions over here: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-06-27-dylan-cuthbert-star-fox-2-release-is-a-big-awesome-surprise -

Are they being paid any royalties for the 80 dollar product their game is being used to promote?

Well, Argonaut's been defunct for over 10 years now, and I have a feeling that contracted staff working on a joint production didn't have royalties in their contracts (why would they? directors don't even get royalties in japan), but you could always contact Dylan Cuthbert at his twitter and ask for yourself

I'm going to assume no, given his complete lack of knowledge about the SNES Classic. Do Virtual Console sales have any influence on what new sequels Nintendo decides to produce?
I'm basically running through any and all possible moral reasons to buy the classic series or VC games that aren't "they own the rights so we should pay up".
-
I finally have a shot at one: got to Walmart at 7:30 and am #25 in a store with at least 35 systems.
Aaand got one at last.
-
Just showed up at work and people already waiting outside for the SNES four hours before we open.
Compared to when I showed up am hour and a half and was first here for the Switch.
-
I managed to get a SNES Classic from Best Buy. I just walked in like 20 minutes after opening and they handed me ticket #69 and had me wait in line. I felt bad, because the lady behind me in line had #10, and she told me that she picked it up at like 6:30 AM (they open at 10) and then went home, thinking that she couldn't get one otherwise.
-
So Nintendo has decided that Youtubers can no longer livestream games.
Japan, like…what the literal fuck man.

Only if you're in their already-bullshit partner program. It's basically just PewDiePie (and probably similar high-profile pieces of shit too) ruining YouTube streaming for the rest of the world.
-
Well he already started the adocalypse, maybe he can start the Nintencalypse. :ninja:
-
The sequel we've all been waiting for.

IGN also made Greg Miller a thing.

Looks like Shovel Knight Switch launch sales were better than any other platforms
-
I wonder how much of a role was played by the fact that
1. Gamestop had forced Switch bundles that included treasure trove as one of the titles they forced you into buying to get a Switch
2. Specter Knight was one of the few actual new games on the Switch when it launched, probably the only one of its genre (forget when Wonder Boy came out.) -
Preordered Mario Odyssey and FE Warriors. :3
-
Got my two Bayonetta Amiibos, happy af! :D

We also haven't gotten many platformers since then (Steamworld Dig 2 is the only big one I can remember offhand).

We need more commercials like that. I can't remember the last time I genuinely enjoyed a video game ad.
