If he ate kangaroo he'd have devastating kicks and punches. If he ate ostrich he'd be pretty fast
So many possibilities!
My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
-
-
The possibilities are endless. He really seems to like octopus, however.
@Your:
After your statement I now realize how powerful his quirk actually is. Imagine he ate a honey badger (is that even a thing).
Yes, it's a real thing. It's not something you eat, however . . .
@Bond:
What if he eats fugu?
That's what I thought the moment he said "octopus venom". Japanese love fugu, he should totally eat it.
-
I hope he doesn't face that many villains that are able to combat-eat him that he needs always to be venomous.
-
Someone needs to feed Sun Eater a fried Mantis Shrimp and a Pistol Shrimp.
It would be amazingly powerful.
I already expect really cool fight of his in future - taking placepartially under water - maybe its bit obvious but could be very cool visually.
Lately I am falling in love with some panels in this manga, eyegasmic purely shonen stuff at times.
-
Less than an hour for the next episode, I'm sooooo hype!!!! Last time I was refreshing the episode release timer like this was for One Punch Man episode 12. Gaaah, episode 25 can't come fast enough!
-
Episode was pretty good. It didn't have that Deku & Icy Hot "HOLY CRAP!" Sort of feel. And I wonder if that's on purpose since one opponent wasn't at 100% in the game.
Still loved it. That was a pretty good face lol.
For some reason I thought this would be the last episode of the season but there's one more? I don't know what the count is for episodes this season.

I thought this season would be two cours long.

Two cours? What's that mean exactly?

Two cours? What's that mean exactly?
Cours are seasonal tv blocks. Two cours means that new episodes of My Hero Academia will run for two (real life) seasons. That means season two is going to last for 25 episodes, aka, half a year. Meaning that we are at least also going to see the Field Training arc adapted and not just the Sports Festival. The blu ray release dates are:
- Volume 1 – July 19, Episodes 14, 15, 16, 17
- Volume 2 – August 9, Episodes 18, 19, 20
- Volume 3 – September 13, Episodes 21, 22, 23
- Volume 4 – October 18, Episodes 24, 25, 26
- Volume 5 – November 15, Episodes 27, 28, 29
- Volume 6 – December 13, Episodes 30, 31, 32
- Volume 7 – January 17, 2018, Episodes 33, 34, 35
- Volume 8 – February 14, 2018, Episodes 36, 37, 38

Now I'm really confused at what episode we are up to lol. Crunchyroll says 25. But I think that was also a combination of season 1. Was season 1 only 12 episodes? Do series change it up how many episodes they are? Or were they testing the waters since it was a relatively new series?

Season 1 was 12 episodes. I'd assume that they saw it do very well, so they decided to have two cours for season 2, given that there's more than enough manga material available. They also probably upped the budget, as I'm sure you've noticed from the increased quality of season 2 compared to season 1 (Although the manga being substantially better post-noumu is also a good reason for how great this season has been so far).
-
Didn't know about the term "cour". Apparently it means an episode bloc of 10-14 episodes. Neat!
I think another reason why this was 2 cours is simply because making the tournament arc a stand-alone arc and not going more into the Stain storyline already introduced would have made a very underwhelming and frustrating cliffhanger. They want to have some villain fights this season.
-
Two cours? What's that mean exactly?
Basically, cours is a French word used in Japanese TV terminology to actually mean seasons, unlike the American usage of the word seasons.
In other words, 12-13 weeks. 1/4 of a year. So a season, since there are four seasons in a year.
Unlike American TV terminology of "seasons" which is just one arbitrary block of episodes, not actually correlating to four seasons. -
Two cours? What's that mean exactly?
If it's any consolation, I only learned the word a few years all when a friend used it in chat and I had no clue what he was on about

Anyone find the musical selections for this episode a bit weird? And a lot of the combat animation felt a bit off.
One thing I did really, really like that wasn't as clear in the manga is the way Todoroki's mom is bookended here. We get a highlighted focus on her panicked eyes in the flashback, and here we get a focus on her eyes being more serene and calm. It's a subtle but powerful way of expressing how Todoroki plans to write new memories of his mom.
-

I feel like it's been that way throughout the season. Besides the Yutaka cut from Midoriya vs. Todoroki, everything's felt a little jank.

Just looked into this Anime on Thursday and ended up watching all available episodes and going on to read the Manga up to the current chapter. It has now become my current favorite Manga (one piece is dragging for me atm).
I've also been reading through this thread and the amount of people certain Bakku would turn evil was hilarious as well as the death counter for All might. There's pretty much no character I dislike in the series except grape boy (the majority of the time) and I love how Bakku is a true asshole but also 100% devoted to being a hero, not just having power and fame. I haven't come across my characters like that and I find it to be very realistic. I know of tons of people who do good things all the time but aren't sweet gentle angels.
I can't wait to follow this series weekly!

Right? It's just so good.
Also I still crack up when people tried to compare Bakugou to Sasuke. He's completely opposite in behavior and the author is much more willing for Bakugou to not be serious the majority of the time.
Man I wish I could rediscover this series. But I get to live vicariously through my roommate who I introduced this show to.

When do you start following it? And are there any other shouenen of this quality that are relatively new other than OPM? I've been out of the Manga scene aside from OP for awhile.
But yeah this series has some amazing character development so far. The subversion of expectations is great. Like that mind control guy who people teased about the obvious villian potential for his power yet it didn't turn him to villainy. That was great.

I think I started following it since the one shot manga. I liked this author and the series before this got cut super early. So I was stoked he got a hit with this. I definitely see a lot more Westerners talking about it. With pretty much the same intensity they have to Naruto and Bleach.
Hmm. Right now the only other one I can think of that's battle style is Black Clover. I wouldn't say it's as good though. But it's fun. It's more like how I wish Fairy Tail was.
-
"Eijiro Kirishima - The Origin" incoming?
-
Kirishima JUST got a full 1x1 fight, so I can't say I am excited to see him going at it again. But since this just happened less then 10 chapters ago (I think), I suppose Horikoshi will got for something else this time.
-
Super weird end of chapter, I feel like it missed a page

Does Rappa have a mantis shrimp quirk?

That's because there is one missing.
I'm not sure what Horikoshi has planned for Kirishima, he just got a power-up and only a few chapters later it seems it's not strong enough. But I do hope that he gets his Origin chapter too, just like the other most prominent Class A members have.
-
Should the thread title change from Unbreakable to Breakable?
-
Snorlax vs Bane !!!!!!!!!
This reminds me of pokemon battle for no reason and seriously it was a good chapter. Horoshiki does it again.
Although I would have loved more characters on the double spread. -
I don't think that is the same Bane from up there.
-
That was really good, man.
-
Or…Snorlax + Lycanroc vs. Hitmonchan + Mr. Mime.
Yeah Hitmonchan totally takes that, based on typing.
-
This arc is fun.
Must buy in paper volume format for me.
-
Plot Twist: Raffa is actually quirkless and he is Knuckleduster.
-
Attacking Eraserhead first. Bravo Wall-E. Double bravo to tank characters protecting him. Agreed Kirishima is getting an origin chapter. Bet is father will look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Seems Hori's setting up the fight with willpower being the deciding factor. More excited for this than Suneater.
Like the bit with the gangsters against Overhaul's methods. He is acting more super villain than gangster. Either Overhaul doesn't see a difference between the two or he feels traditional gangsters need to evolve to survive. Or, maybe he does want to gangsta the old fashioned way but feels he can't until heroes don't exist.
EDIT: If we get a Kirishima origin we'll learn why he admires Crimson Riot, nice.
-
I wonder if Overhaul really poisoned the former boss, some grunts seem to think so, but he even apologized to him some chapters ago.

A Vigilante that kills weak villains? Bizarro Stain?
-
Cool chapters. Seems like Kirishima is the character I wanted Ikkaku to become all those years ago. Just unapologetic manly badassness from a side character with a cool power

Not just Bizarro, as I mentioned in the previous pages, he's has a ton of references to Stain.
For example, his name Stendhal is a direct reference to Stain's real civilian name. -
-
Oooh the anime added flashbacks didn't it! The Eraser one was cute, and I'm not sure I remember the little deku flashback being in the manga. Kawaii!
EDIT: Please add 「」. As in:「Red Diamond」is Crash
-
Cool trailer. I started off watching the Dub so the sub voices actually don't do it for me, but the action and everything looked stellar.

so i'm up to date with my hero academia and decided to try my hero academia's illegals.
with two chapters in, i can already confirm that it is an amazing manga.
it feels very similar to mark miller's kickass in that the main character just felt like becoming a hero without caring about the consequences and happens to stumble upon others like him who help him out (in kickass it was hit girl and big daddy, in here it's knuckleduster who's just as crazy as big daddy).
and that makes him leagues better than izuku imo, who was waiting for an excuse to give it up had all might not given him his powers. -
Aw, the dub made Bakugo's hero name suggestion King/Lord Explosion Murder. I already named my Turtonator Explodokills, Funi D:
-
Did Bakugou ever get a name approved? He should just go with Hellion or Ordinance or something lol.
-
Maybe Duke of Explodo Kills?
-

I read somewhere that this concept art for Bakugou shown in the Ultra Archive character book can be translated to show that Bakugou's name was at one point considered to be "Ground Zero".
!
Which is probably the best and most badass name I've ever heard be suggested for him. However, that is difficult or impossible to get approved considering the obvious connotation that has in the US because of 9/11.

Speaking of Bakkugou's power for a second, why did his power not work against that slime monster in the first episode? He's shown the ability to blow things away with his explosions, why couldn't he blow the slime off of him considering he'd exploded enough to blow up half the block he was on.
Cuz from what I've seen throughout the Manga if that slime could hold a grip on him and still be maleable enough that no one could get a grip on it, that'd be one of the top 5 best quirks in the world.

Somehow I am really eager to see what will happen in next chapter.
Boss rush arc ftw!
-
As long as it keeps this pace, and the girls get some action at least, then ok.
-
Probably one of my favorite panels in Manga. That moment, to me, signifies that Deku has overcome his enormous gap in experience and is now able to control his Quick well enough to hang on the same level as other top flight freshmen.
I really hope this moment in the Anime is as kickass as I see it in my head.
