AHH WTF. I missed the second chapter. Yeah, like I said. Mashima has to play it safe…
Fairy Tail Series IV Discussion
-
-
At this point Mashima can do whatever he wants.
-
Missed the first chapter, was very confused.
It says something when the protagonists and big bad are about to fight in the final battle (or at least the beginning of it) and I'd rather see side-character Cana and the two old dudes fight.
-
Gray.
You'll never be Sasuke, fucking stop trying.
Also, heapin helping of cleavage.
-
Seeing Acnologia beating the shit out of Erza will make next chapter Chapter of the Year Candidate.
-
At this point, I'm starting to believe that Gray's failed attempt at self-sacrifice for the third time was a form of "Take That" towards heroic sacrifice theme as a whole from Mashima. It's like indirect way of saying that there's always another way of solving problems like these and earn your happy ending where nobody has to die. It's a good sentiment, but it's ironic that Makarov still chose to sacrifice his life without even hearing what better options Mavis had at the time.
I won't hold my breath for mere appearance of Acnologia. It's not like he's gonna kill either Erza or Wendy anyway.
-
I don't really care for Agnologia - is there anything going for him besides being a generic doomsday villain? However, I like his appearance in a way that this clusterfuck of an overarching story hopefully is closer to its end now.
-
Well he is gonna trash Erza, and the thing to look forward, the fact the next chapter title is named Black Future, means Acnologia will btfo Erza and Wendy.
Beating up Erza would be as good as current OP chapters.

like power of friendship?

A bit slow, but satisfying in the end?

Seeing Acnologia no selling Erza nakama power would be satisfying.
-
So is this the final arc?
Or saga?
-
Looks like it - but no one knows for sure.

-
I'm not gonna miss this.
-
That looks like it really will be over then. (Though the words 'Last Arc' are in quotation marks which might be a loophole…?!)

I hope it isnt like JJBA Part 6 ending
-
However, I'd actually be very fine with Fairy Tail going on, but completely without an overarching major main story.
-
Hey but at least FT final arc was better than Bleach and maybe on part with Toriko, although Toriko had Midora who is a better character than 99.9% of FT cast
-
I'm actually both intrigued and scared about what's to come in Toriko. I'm reading the German volumes and we're at volume 30 now.

Advice: Enjoy the art, Enjoy Monkey King, Enjoy Midora, Enjoy the Chaos but do not expect anything.

On part with Toriko? Other than the fact that Toriko jumped 4 major arcs in just 1 chapter, the end was in no way comparable with what Fairy Tail ending is going.

At least Toriko had entertaining characters, quality art and a talent for showcasing the absolute powerlevels and chaos. The story stopped being relevant the moment the Monkey King arc was over.
-
I don't get it.

Well, it wasn't exactly a terrible chapter, but it wasn't exactly one that made me feel anything positive or negative. I think Fairy Tail has made me like August in a way, unable to comprehend emotions when it comes to a specific thing, in this case the manga known as Fairy Tail.
-
So the whole conflict with Zeref and Alvarez is based on a misunderstanding and both parties actually have no evil motivations, eh?
Seriously, Makarov had one fucking year to actually find out about the reasonings and start some kind of negotiations. But whatever, then he'll just sacrifice himself in a scene with absolutely no emotional impact instead.
Basing your main conflict on a misunderstanding that could be solved just by talking, being decently smart and actually asking the right questions is incredibly lame storytelling.
-
Looks like August will hurt Cana thus making Gildartz to blast him off like he did to Bluenote.
Fairy Glitter couldve been better on someone like Erza or Laxus, not freaking Cana, one of the dullest female character Ive ever seen since Bleach Nanao.
-
Zeref is a lame villain. "I want to die. So everyone else has too." That's completely stupid.

Meh. He only wants to kill Acnologia and Mavis. The others are just in the way.
-
Am I the only one who thinks August is pretty much a copy of Hades?
-
okay so August is claiming Zeref has noble intentions to save the human race? Fine. He thinks he's the good guy here? Fine.
You can't however then turn around and give a big evil grin whilst you suggest torturing someone's child to death in order to witness an emotion from the father. The idea of neccesary sacrifices is one thing, but taking pleasure from said sacrifices removes any noble angle you can pretend to have.
Antagonists and their motivations is probably the thing Mashima is worst at writing, and that is really saying something. Honestly despite the Spriggan being a bunch of quirky individuals they're shockingly forgettable.
-
Meh, majority of FT villains' behaviors can only be justified if you think them as nutcases anyway. Their quirkiness are of surface-level only, like adhering to what's written on character sheet as is without expanding it with actual meaningful interactions.
-
To me it seems like August's actions in this chapter do not match the portrayal of him in prior chapters. He went from reasonable old wise man to generic bad guy.
-
Has Fairy Glitter ever worked?
-
It did destroy the Magic Power Finder at the Grand magic Games by surpassing a power level of 9999, so yes, it actually did work sometimes. And it freed Mavis.

Did you know that this same thing was done it before in Final Fantasy?

Does getting 2nd Place on the Third Tournament day counts?

Yes. And I hate that lol. It's an annoying trope. I've seen ot used in other shows too. "Woe as me life is terrible. We should all die!" Even though I'm the only one really having a rough life. Lol.

Oh yeah, that was pretty sad… it´s like Naruto using Rasengan to cheat on Bingo or something.
What FF villain is that? Kuja?

No, Kuja was more like "If I have to die, everyone has to as well, because f*** you guys".
-
Oh, so he went down the simpleton route with August after all.
-
Pops in, puts on Kuja-defense-force badge
At least Kujas actions fit his personality and history, and he got called out on how petty he was being.
pops out

Oh no, I wasn't being critical, Daz. Of all the three PS1 FF games, he was the most fun villain.

Has to be one of the most useless finishing move attacks Ive seen from a female since Fubukis Hell Storm in OPM.
-
Thanks for yet another spoiler, spoiler boy.
-
Well, Mashima could show us two full chapters of awesome fight scenes between August and Gildarts. But torturing and raping Cana instead is so much more entertaining. Can't wait for the panel where father and nearly-naked daughter oneshot August.

Dude, you should learn to stop talking like a family guy writer. You are lately going into spoiler territory.

Kissing gets you pregnant in this world.Or maybe magic, but whatever.
-
Hiro ran out of emotional resonance and ass pulls so he have to drag sorry excuse for a plot thread back to play.

Kissing gets you pregnant in this world. What do you mean they kissed and that was just it :ninja:?
Knowing Mashima, that flashback could be mere red herring rather than confirming that Larcade was indeed born from Mavis. I mean, are we supposed to imagine Precht c-sectioning Mavis to get the unborn baby out and put her back inside crystal? That's ridiculous–
...oh, wait.
