It's not really unlikely. Overhaul and his goons all share the same theme. And we know they don't have a large influence as that's exactly what Overhaul is looking for, so it's improbable that they are a large or powerful organization.

We're not looking at an organization that rivals the League here. Just a small group of criminals with an actual plan who want to ride on the League's coattails (and steal the coat while at it).

I like the darker development for the villain side but I feel there is a huge gap in styles between the story of Deku and these villains.

Its safe to say that we wont ever see Urakara or Iida bursting into a pool of blood, just like there were no casualties the time the villains crashed the training camp. The series is not that kind, so whats the point of showing cold blooded villains that can kill with a single touch (just like facepalm kid) when the protagonists would never be in risk of death?

Its just that the contrast its just too big. We have dark and gritty villains with personality disorders and for whom murder is an everyday thing and then we have all the kids protected by plot armor (not just the main character, but everyone) and living in hero fantasy land.

Well, the kids aren't the only good guys there. All Might for example has a real chance of death, along with some of the teachers and pros.

But that's the direction he's going for. The hero world is a normalized society and all happy go lucky,but the villian side of the world is a very dangerous and dark place. He's handling both themes very great and it's really balanced.

But isn't it the very same contrast in the real world? Substitute UA with a police academy, young people learing how to fight for the little people, capturing crooks and thieves and so on. How many of those actually get in contact with the Mafia or other organized crime syndicates for whom murder is an everyday thing? Some time down the line and up the career ladder, they are going to, maybe sooner than they would expect or like. But until then, there being a contrast seems absolutely fine to me. I don't really see your point.

I believe the contrast is specifically the point. The hero's are learning in a nice cushy environment that will do everything it can to protect them. The villains are learning in the harsh school of hard knocks. After graduation, the hero's will have to face this harsh environment and accept that they have been coddled all this time. I believe that this may have been part of the reason that the 3 new characters were introduced. They are upper class men and they will be going into the harsh world soon. I think there is a chance that at least one of them will be seriously maimed or killed. Given the show of his power it may well be fallout boy. If I am right about that, it is a shame, because his power is perfectly set to go against someone who can kill by touch.

From what I gather, Mirio already is part of that world, being a sidekick and all. He has the scars and the experience to prove it.

Students will be doing heroics way before they graduate. That much is clear.

I actually agree on both. Like I said I believe that the recent introductions are intended to have someone from the school have a horrible experience, so that the students with plot armor will have to face a harsh reality without themselves being affected. I guess as stated we will just have to wait and see.

Sure, but once again how is that so much different from "teasing" that the good guys might lose, for example? Following that logic, wouldn't be it be a cheap tease whenever the good guys have some trouble? Personally, I don't see what's so different and that's why I never agreed much with that kind of argument.

Overhaul: if you touch any part of his skin a violent and bloody explosion occurs destroying the threat. The explosion might possibly due some damage to Overhaul himself as he ducked and took cover when attacking Magne. Also wonder about the extent of Overhaul's explosions. Skin to skin contact blew Magne's upper half apart but glove to skin contact only took off Compress' arm?

Isn't the point of All Might being around was to deter crime? Makes sense we didn't have much hero death up to this point. But, even now I think Horikoshi is keeping hero death card close to his chest. I'd place my bets on Sir, that wood hero or any hero b-character not affiliated with UA dying first.

What kind of backstory could he have with such a devastating quirk. Anyone that touches him could die. His parent's might have died when his quirk manifested for the first time. How could he aspire to Good and try saving people with a quirk like that.

Those are actually good points. Sorry if my reply earlier seemed rude. I'm still wondering how fusing fits in, assuming that it's part of Overhaul's Quirk and not just one of his cronies. I find it unlikely for Horikoshi to simply go for a power as bland as everybody dying if they touch Overhaul. It's tragic, but so meh if it's just that.

I'll say it is a possibility but the way I interpreted it is because it showed Compress make contact with Overhaul's arm with a "tap" bubble. Next panel, Overhaul freaks out and says "Don't touch me." This reaction and the way Overhaul's arm is drawn in the next panel make me think he is withdrawing his hand away from the explosion he knows is going to occur. His arm started out in front of his body and looks like he moved it back behind his body to get it away.

Interestingly, I was just looking at it again paying close attention to Overhaul's hands and it looked like Horikoshi made a mistake in this draft. It shows Overhaul taking the glove off his left hand, but then in this panel it looks like his left hand is gloved again. Yet, in the following pages I see no sign of the glove.

That confused me too, but there could always be more to the story, given additional context. Maybe the friend hasn't told her family or colleagues yet, and only dresses that way when meeting other LGBTQ folk or allies? Also, not that it affects that point, but I think the friend was mostly talking about Magne embracing villainy as a way (another way?) of throwing off society's shackles.

Either way, I'm hoping the friend still has a role to play. Otherwise that subtle foreshadowing of their meeting + Magne's emotional flashback just before dying are kind of pointless :P
