@Outerspec:
Yeah, you have to live in a place where the people are allergic to snow and extremely finicky around it. Like us Marylanders! We get it every year and still are ill prepared so we just shut things down when it's getting too heavy.
I giggled reading this. It's like you guys live simpler lives than us.
Weather Forecaster: "It's snowing, everybody!"
Mayor: "Alllright, shut the city down."
Townspeople: "Yaaay!"
The only problem is when we get too many snow days and they have to add days to the end of the school calendar because we weren't going to reach our minimum number of academic days. That happened to us 2 years ago.
Wow no way. How many inches does it take for a snow day? Over here it takes like 8 to 12 inches.

@Jabberwok:
Dunno how many layovers we have considering we're in a corner of the country and the airport is far too small to service the 9th largest city in the nation…
But the airport is right across from the bay and it's easy to take a taxi/Uber downtown. So that's nice. Just come see the zoo. It's expensive but awesome with pandas and polar bears and elephants and gorillas and tons of gazelle and the exhibits are all so nice and cool and...(Jabberwok rambles on for several minutes) and SeaWorld is still pretty cool if the bad press hasn't put you off.
Well my husband and I travel-hack quite a bit, so whenever we're flying somewhere we'll book like individual segments cuz sometimes it's cheaper, or sometimes a reward flight forces you to choose this or that airport, etc. So who knows, one day maybe we'll go to some destination that requires a stop in San Diego.
Oooh a zoo! Sea world I'll pass on though, went to "Marine Land" here as a kid and the sad whales and dolphins put me off marine zoos forever. Honestly I usually pass on zoos too, unless they have something that's native to the area that I can only see there. I went to a petting zoo to see kangaroos and wallabys in Sydney, for example. I kinda like just doing local-experiences whenever I travel, tbh.
