Best. Episode. Ever.
-
what the fuck have they done?! And why? I hope to god it's not permanent.
It lasts about three seconds. It pops back to normal the moment that Goku stretches.
Also, this episode was fantastic. Reading Dr. Slump has always been in the back of my mind, and I'll definitely have to do that now!
-
Guys, you are burying the lede
! We got ourselves a baseball episode next week WHERE IT IS YAMCHA'S TIME TO SHINE
-
Yamcha's at bat.
…
YAMCHA'S DEAD!
-

The entire series was published in english. Hopefully we'll get a reprint at some point.

Yeah I just saw it, thank goodness for that! I think it was a pretty decent episode, but some parts off the episode had pretty crappy animation. Wonder what happened to Vegeta after he flew off…
-
What a trash episode, don't care for this at all.

So you care about Time-Travelling shenanigans and stupid Zamasu Plot?
-
I know nothing of Dr. Slump. Crossover stuff especially with gag comics aren't my thing but I actually laughed out loud a couple of times. Mostly from Vegeta sucker punching/kicking her.
-
! Guess that's the ultimate and absolutely end of Dr. Mashirito then. Erased from existence forever…
! >! That is, until he somehow comes back in a way more outerwordly form… Somewhen... -
Dr. Mashirito is the guy who broke shonen jump when it was 30-35 years old and turned everyone in it into his personal card deck. Only you the player/reader could stop him.
He's kind of a big deal, only meta beings, even beyond earth mother Dakki, Tentacle Rape Aizen or Shaman King Hao, could pull the stunts that he managed back then.
-
not sure about the latest episode, guys
seems like the team was in a real slump

I do not know if you are looking for a laugh or a sarcastic reply, but I assure you, you shall receive neither!

Never laughed so much on a DB episode before. Didn't thought the original could ever beat the abridged on that part
-
Well, thanks to the Future Trunks arc I'm catching up with this series. It seems to be scrapping the barrel, but at the same time scrapping the best parts off that barrel and being creative with it.
One of those scrappings is that one Dragonball episode where Dr. Slump guest-starred, and it turned out to be refreshing! It always bugged me that Arale was in Dragonball while the series progressed, cause wouldn't that mean that her town died during Buu's human extinction attack? Well, this episode answered that by making Arale this 4th wall breaking super power that can beat a few Super Saiyan's in an afternoon. I never expected to get this, and yet here it is!
Also, one thing I love about this series is how pathetic defeated villians get as the show progresses. Cell, Buu, and even Gold Frieza…all of them could have run into Arale at some point.
-
I still think the devil guy that can explode you if you have evil in your hearts would have fared well against the Siayans and Frieza at least.
Cell and the androids were just programmed, not evil, maybe… and Buu could reform. But prior to that...
-
Let's not forget Monster Carrot.
Then again, if he operates on the same logic as Buu's chocolate beam and Vegito was able to fight as a candy then…eh, I dunno.

Dragon Ball Z Kai Buu Saga and Dragon Ball Super are coming to Toonami in January!

Aww, Laura Bailey isn't Kid Trunks… On the bright side (imo), Colleen Clinkenbeard will be Mai, I'll always love her voice acting (I blame FMA:B for this).
-
One thing I read somewhere is that the fake characters from Hercule's movie about how he defeated Cell are listed as being played by Jay Garrick, Wally West, and Bart Allen. These are obviously covering up who their real voice actors are - do you think they'll get some people from Team Four Star to play those roles?

Ha, that's cute, the "Final Chapters".
….wait holy shit they're airing both in the same night? I certainly don't mind DB doubling up, lol.

Today's episode was probably one of the best Dragon Ball episodes ever. Especially if you're a Yamcha fan.

This is the high point of all of Dragon Ball. Nothing is topping this, unless they make another "Goku and Piccolo go to the DMV" episode.

This episode was everything I wanted and more.

!
God bless you Toriyama.

Ascended meme or mythology gag:ninja:
-
This episode was amazing. Honestly can't believe how good it was. The comedy was unmatched too. Yamcha scoring while in the same near fetal position that he died in against the saibamen and Bulma saying how baseball is "the one thing he's good at" slayed me.
-
Bulma is evil
Yamcha not good at sex confirmed.

Vegeta won this 2:0.
-
This ep is right up there with Goku and Piccolo learning to drive. Absolutely hilarious. I burst out laughing when vegeta went for the final flash, and the yamcha pose was sublime.
-
Didn't care so much for DBS before, but oh boy, I really like the last two episodes! That's Dragon Ball at its best!
-
An episode where Yamcha AND Vados shine in all their gloriousness? wipes tear
Loled hard on the pose joke (it gets old though)
-
Yamcha is the first and only human to beat a sayan. (Cabba):ninja:

@Purple:
Jackie Chun?
crap forgot about dragon ball. :P

God bless you Toriyama.
This was strangely hilarious. I'm so glad Toei is aware enough to put in this sort of homage lol. That other characters even commented on it was the best.
Can DBZS just be a slice of life gag series?
-
@Purple:
Jackie Chun?
Gohan…..after he grabbed Goku's tail.
-
I've been ignoring the anime and just been reading the manga when it is available, but decided to watch these last two episodes and they are hilarious. For those who have been watching the anime are there any other episodes like these worth watching, or have all the rest been basically what the manga has been doing as well?
-
Yamcha not good at sex confirmed.
Ah, but baseball and sex methaphors go hand in hand. If Yamcha is good at third base or home runs, then he's probably great at sex.
He just lacks the personality to hold onto someone.
-
Who cares about his sex life? And if someone cares, it'll become much better from now on.
Because Yamcha just single-handedly bested and defeated an entire universe and a god of destruction too. Suck it Saiyans.
-
Why do I feel like I took this episode way too seriously? Anyways, I think the 4th wall winking was, definitely, the weakest element of the episode.
I guess the (extremely) cheap shots at Yamcha were to be expected, and at the end of the day he did have a couple of highlights (I genuinely expected him to fail his throws, but he actually outsmarted a couple of pretty powerful guys) but the joke about his dying pose. . .wasn't funny? I mean, it not only is getting kinda obnoxious in general: There's a Yamcha Death Pose figure. It's an attack he does in the Xenoverse games. One of his techniques is. . .to adopt a fetal position and ¿feign death?. It's getting like. . .super old.
But even more problematic is that you have the characters, HIS FRIENDS, make fun of it. All for the sake of a wink wink nudge nudge with the audience.
I get it, it's funny to us cause he died like a chump against one of the most pathetic enemies in the series. . .But is it supposed to be funny IN universe? Krillin clearly took a super cheap shot at his dying pose. Do you seriously say "Seeing Yamcha in a crater, in a fetal position, totally reminds me of something. . ."?
It's like Goku seeing some fireworks and immediately tell Krillin "Man, did you see those fireworks exploding? Don't they remind you of something? Didn't Freeza do something similar to you?".
Piccolo: "Did you see me impale that guy with an energy beam, Gohan? Doesn't that remind you when I killed your dad with my Makankosopapowathever? FUN MEMORIES, HUH?".
Trunks: "Goten, did you see that egg being crashed just now? It's just, it totally reminded me when Buu turned your mother into one and crashed her just like that! I swear, it made the exact same sound! It's like, so funny! Goten? Are you ok, pal? Why are you crying?".
TL;DR –> I'm getting to old for this shit. I think.
-
Well, could be worse. Could be back in the desert at like 50+ years old with only Puar, fixing up cars.
gives a stifferned glare at GT

Episode 68 was a fun slice of life episode too.

It was just the character making a comment. The moment it looked like he might actually die, they all ran up to him yelling "Yamcha!"

There's now a manga where a schoolkid from our world dies and reincarnates as Yamcha.
His first thoughts are how lame it is to be a Yamcha, but then he decides to train hard so he's not such a Yamcha:
-
Just found out Super got a new series director.
Interesting stuff about him
he storyboarded and directed 38 which was the first episode to have blood (outside of a nose bleed gag with Roshi and Oolong in the BoG arc) and he also storyboarded and directed 56 which had Vegeta cough up blood. I think it is certainly possible that he pushed for more blood in the series, but really we need to wait and see if we are actually going to have more blood now or not.

If you have meta-knowledge of the series, then training and the series in general is simplified.
Learn Taiyoken.
Learn Kienzan.
Learn Mafuba.
Kill Raditz when he first shows up.
If other Saiyans show up, kill them.
Find Gero. Kill Gero. Destroy lab.
Kill Babidi when he first shows up.
Seal Dabura.
