Why are they waiting to feed Midora with GOD???? If Toriko can do what he did, could you imagine Midora's doing? Come on!
Glad to see Bambina again, so Heracles and Moon, but deeply sorry for Snake King, instead I cannot figure out what will happen with Crow King. So what's up with Neo/Acacia when Toriko said "Show your face, Neo!".
Another "what a mess chapter", anyway.
I liked it. Sue me. Bambina <3
GOD coming in second-to-last on Torikos menu is just off, mostly due to how incredibly underwhelming the cooking, eating and tasting of it was. In a series abundant with rushed developments and anticlimaxes, this may be its crowning achievement; If you'd asked me of the number 1 thing Toriko should under no circumstances fumble, "The cooking and eating of GOD" would've been a no-brainer.
And also, despite Starjuns sacrifice being the catalyst for last weeks Contrived Bullshit Extravaganza, this week does away with it completely. Thats some Mashima level shittery right there.
As far as messages go, "a meal eaten with friends is better than one eaten alone" is fine, I just wish it had a better villain and final conflict to support it. As F-trash said, at this point the credibility Acacia/NEO built up against the 8 kings has mostly dissipated.
At least bambina is back, I guess.
Yeah…what about Starjun sacrifice? Was it all for nothing?
Bambina being back is of course incredibly awesome and standing on the frontline at that. But the remainder of the chapter is a huge wtf. So Toriko punches Acacia across the goddamn globe and speed blitzes to Behind him. Sure, I can sort of buy that considering how desperate Toshi is to outpower Dargonball Z. However, GOD all of the sudden being there with the entire cast I can't buy for a moment. He's been completely immobile on an entirely different continent. And the whole battle with Acacia has just been Toriko and Midora taking turns punching Acacia across increasingly ridiculous distances. Really lame finale, the 8 kings hype was so much more awesome. Unfortunately the hype balloon deflated into nothingness.

His appetite (?) force fed Toriko all the necessary ingredients. Which is a deus ex machine if I've ever seen one

Actually Toriko didn't move, he just punched Acacia around the entire world.

Yeah you're probably right, now that I reread . The art just makes it look like Acacia is stopped on the other side of the continent. Then I have no consistency complaints at the very least.
Still waiting for Zonge sama to steal the spotlight.

Unfortunately, Toriyama already gave to middle finger to anyone trying that by making that "King of all cosmos" character that can supposedly destroy all realities instantly with no effort. But yeah, at this point Toriko reads like a 12 year old's fanfiction they made after seeing DBZ with the intent out-powerleveling it. Turns out substituting plot with power levels isn't a great idea.
I hope this won't become a Hope vs Despair fight. The conversation between and Midora and Acacia is the problem of the series. Why is Love in a bracket? What about Midora's rage? What does Midora's rage have to do with Acacia's appetite? They just fucking fight. Is it a willpower thing now?
Why is Acacia talking like Midora lost anyway?

Well that's reassuring. It might be a bias of mine since Dragonball but it feels good to see that the godfather of modern Shounen still walk with his chest puffed out.

It really does lol. It doesn't even have that cheesy, awesome ''oumf'' anymore. I've Always defended Toriko's flaws with ''it's fun damnit! Just roll with it!'' right now I can't. This has Bleachesque qualities to it.
With the return of the 4 kings, this seriously has end game written all over it!! Expecting Toriko to end this year! I'm sad. Hoping Toei will adapt the rest of the series into Anime. Just started re-watching it with my daughter, English dub this time and it's still fantastic!!
I think it has been in end game for awhile. Honestly, where do you possibly go from here?

Well, considering the big bads were trying to go to the 'promised land' - We might need to see that. >_>
Or just leave it hanging.
is that… all blue? or what. lol
Something I'm confused about, why was Toriko saying he wanted to eat God last when he just ate God? I guess it wasn't prepared but even still it gave Toriko the boost, so it would make the most sense for everyone else to eat God, get their boost, and make it a more even battle field. Still, somehow Acacia is still above all of them and is about to crush the world with a fist manifesting his appetite? I have no clue what's going on except for the fact that Bambina is a boss and was able to eat God and regenerate unlike the other kings.
Honestly, the one consistently entertaining factor of these last few dozen chapters or less of the manga has been Acacia. And not because he's an compellingly written villain in the slightest, but because of how hilarious it is to see how hard Shima is trying to make us hate him by having him constantly spew out garbage that makes him an irredeemable asshole. And the panels that he draws of Acacia facial expressions and reactions during these hateful scenes are a gold mine for me. The smug looks this guy gives for how proud he is in regards to his trolling are priceless.
Also, what did Toriko figure out about NEO? Didn't the Red Oni say that it would be impossible for him to come out and talk to Toriko before he force-fed himself into Toriko? How can NEO still be reached or unleashed? Because eating Acacia at this point would just be cannibalism. Meh, I'm giving Shima too much credit and should just enjoy the train wreck for what it is.
I approach Toriko as a comedy or even shonen satire nowadays, it's a much more satisfying experience that way.
Torino currently has 14 chapters not complied into volumes, if shima is planning on ending on vol 42, then he has 4 to 6 chapters left. But going over that and do 15 chapters more seems like too much rigth now. So toriko will most likely not make it to the end of the year.
I'd say he's aiming for an exact chapter 400 ending, which'd give them 2x9 chapter volumes, and one 8 chapter volume where a beefy last chapter can take up space.
Well, eating God prepared by Komatsu should make him able to eat Blue. While eating center or Neo gets the third. That punch around the world and stop made me laugh.

Do you see this lasting 12 more chapters? Its already long enough matching dragon ball original run.

Dragon Ball had 519 chapters. Toriko has 388, so far. There was no DBZ in the manga, it was all just Dragon Ball with no distinction.

I'm talking volumes, not chapters boy. Dragon ball was 42, Toriko is at 40 with material for at least 2 more.

A run is expressed in number of chapters because that's what expresses how long, as in how many weeks, it has been running, imo. And there's more than a 100 chapter difference between the two. In other words, Dragon Ball ran for 10 years and 6 months, and Toriko has been running for 8 years and 4 months, if I'm not mistaken. Also… "boy"? Ok.
^Your name is rere[boy], boy.
You'd best remember your name, boy

I am aware, and I found the abbreviation funny
I'd be happy with 6 chapters and Shima taking a serious break with the series. Maybe some DB:Z pull through manga would be better than keeping things going like this. Or just, you know ending it, still being better. As much as I'm going to miss the series.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm still baffled by this whole thing. Is Starjun and Toriko bigger flies just because they are the sons of Acacia?
Toriko didn't use his Blue and White Oni. And all it take to punch Acacia through the entire world was to eat his Red Oni. So why is other 4HK was reduced to nothing?
I miss the good old days when Zebra was the center of the hype.

I vote he end it. It's been ridiculously bad for pretty much the whole fight. Prolonging the end won't undo the mess he's wound up with.

Yeah, there's no way out of this. He needs to ride this train wreck into oblivion than just prolong its suffering and beat a dead horse. I don't care about the Space arc and "Acacia's True Full Course" at this point. Since at the most quality-wise, it can only be what the Gourmet World saga SHOULD'VE been.
He wrote himself into a corner. There is no one left in the series that would get any attention. And Shima doesn't have the will to create a new cosmic setting with interesting characters and storylines. So…
I thought using Knocking to save someone on the brink of death was creative. But wasting that on Starjun? Boooooooo.
The only interesting thing in this chapter is that Midora didn't eat GOD yet, so I think (and hope) he's not going to be killed by NEO.
All these concepts would be mich more believable with more time to explain and introduce them. Ah well, I liked the part at Centre and Frohze moment, so I'm happy.
I honestly didn't mind Gourmet Luck as much as you guys to until now, but that thing in the beginning was just stupid.
Nice chapter! I'm heavily back into this Manga now. It still delivered every week!
I was seriously expecting the opposite of despair to be hope (DanganRonpa's to blame). Anger being the weakness of Acacia is… Pretty redundant.

Weakness of Neo, not Acacia
Weakness of Neo, not Acacia
Thank you for the elaboration. But they're so interchangeable at this point that I could care less, although there is a decent possibility of Neo being dragged out to weaken Acacia.
It's hinted, in this chapter, sooner or later Neo will overpower Acacia, because he (Acacia) didn't eat his true full course. Oh, I almost forgot umpteenth Toriko's power up, this time courtesy of PAIR.

Had Shima used "hope" Ushio to Tora's author could have sued :P

At least the lawsuit would have provided some form of quality entertainment.
Anger can be seen as the opposite of Despair too though, really. Anger means resistance more often than not, whereas despair means, well…non-resistance and giving up.
It's not that doesn't make sense as a counter to despair. It's just that it's redundant to legitimately instill anger as a power-up in this story (aside from the absurdity of an emotion being a power-up in the first place) when everybody already hates Acacia in the first place lol. Even if this was a decent concept overall, having an emotion injected instead of being organically cultivated and felt by the characters is pretty cheap.
Great, I'm making the mistake of holding Toriko to standards again. My bad.

Mashima would like to have a word with you in a dark corner.
I'm just glad it isn't friendship by this point.
Although I admit, acacia's smugness makes him entertaining.
The counter to Neo/Acacia is anger? Didn't he just spend a few chapters intentionally pissing off Midora? …shouldn't that work?

Acacia's smugness is probably the only aspect of this manga that has remained legitinately entertainment. The facial ex poo ressions and reactions Shima draws alongsude his quotes and actions that Shima forces to be detestable end up looking hilarious to me
Toriko might have fallen from grace, but complimenting it by saying it's at least not Fairy Tail is hardly anything more than complacency lol.
